Excellent food with exceptional flavours. Good value for money. Set in unusual quirky setting of an old workshop. Plenty of seating. This café is well worth the couple of extra minutes walk to the end of the High Street.

Great options and variable menu which changes throughout the week. Fantastic food. Some of it is cooked to order but most of it is already made waiting to be served and isn’t always hot, but still tasty nevertheless. Service was friendly, however you do have to queue up like it’s a school dinner with a tray. Building is quirky with seats and chairs here and there, best to go when it’s quiet and not on the weekend if you’re bringing friends. I absolutely love the fact it’s vegetarian. I can see why it’s a top spot in Somerset.

What a fabulous place off the beaten track but well worth a visit - food was delicious, I didn’t know vegetarian food could be so tasty, the beetroot dish as out of this world, friendly place and on our list for next time

My girlfriend and I arrived for a late lunch and we both chose the vegetable jalfrezi meal; unfortunately, the flavour was totally dominated by way too much cumin and salt. Also, there was hardly any rice. Neither of us could finish the meal (very unusual for me!) so I returned both dishes half-full. I was thanked for my feedback (I suggested that they add more garlic and chilli in future instead of the excess cumin), but no refund was offered. We were very disappointed, as we remember having much better food there in the past.

Excellent cafe in Wells. Mainly whole food and healthy, cakes being the slightly unhealthy indulgence. Lots of separate eating areas (and patio for the warmer weather).

This place is amazing. The food is second to none always very fresh and a different menu every day. Its very good value and the puddings are exceptional. I drive 45 mins from Bristol very frequently just to eat here. Highly recommended. Love it. Lesley

I remember being taken here by my parents as a toddler (the spiral staircase fascinated me!), and thirty years on I still make an effort to visit whenever I'm in Wells. I highly recommend the apricot oaties, extremely tasty! The jacket potatoes are also a must. Best eatery in Wells for sure!

A great spot in Wells for veggie food. It’s a reliable place for warm comforting vegetarian or vegan options, with lovely salads and desserts too. The decor is comfortable and eclectic. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is served buffet style from the counter.

Superb vegetarian Moussaka and salad.

Very popular place so they don't feel the need to make it more efficient or customer centric. You have to queue at counter which causes a blockage in a doorway, surprised there's not an accident with people carrying trays of hot food and there's only a blackboard menu so people take a long time to choose slowing service down even more. Quiche and salad was tasty but lack of space at the end to collect drinks and add dressing to salad. Counter service was personable, couldn't say the same for person clearing tables who didn't speak or make eye contact. Outside toilet doesn't lock and is very basic. Would go back for lunch if in the area but perhaps not on Saturdays when it's busiest

Great food if you want a meat free meal, snack or coffee and cake!

Luckily we arrived early just after 12noon, the queues for this popular eating place build up later. Ordered 2 x quiche of the day. It was served warm with a variety of salads for £7.50. Lots of little rooms with tables and chairs also an outside area with tables. Staff are lovely, atmosphere fantastic. Try it you will go again guaranteed.

I (male) was queuing for food and a woman, arrived behind me in the queue. A serving woman, dark hair and purple top, approached completely ignored me and promply addressed the woman behind, took her order and served her. Then without further acknowledgement, walked away as if I wasn't there! After waiting a few minutes more eventually another woman served me. Later I wished to order 2 drinks and did not queue behind all those waiting for food. The same woman who ignored early briskly said I am not serving you you must wait behind all those waiting for food. Shall not be making any effort to return. (males beware!)

Great really tasty food, you don't need to be veggie to enjoy the food, my wife and I are not but have been there twice whilst staying in Wells.

Probably the best place to lunch in Wells. Freshly made quiche and a fine selection of salads. Pizza and jacket potatoes are also available and another main dish. The coffee is excellent too. Don't expect any meat it's not needed.

I never tire of this place. I have been going for over 30 years and it just keeps on getting better and better. The food is delicious, well priced and served by lovely restaurant staff. I really look forward to going and, if I lived in Wells, I would eat there daily. Thanks Good Earth!

Such a lovely friendly place - my favourite cafe in Wells! Has oat, soy, coconut and almond milk on offer (updated July 2023, only oat and coconut milk nowadays), as well as some varied wonderful Pukka teas and decaf options. It can get quite busy, but it's a lovely vibe. Lunch options rotate daily, always including gluten free and vegan options (everything is veggie). Hearty, home cooked food with love

Best to get there around 12 to 12-30 as it is relatively quiet and plenty of space,after that queues out the door,and because so popular will run out of food. The food is excellent,very tasty,and meat free. Generous helpings of salads and spicy(tasty rice,and a nice selection of cakes. They also do gluten free options,but limited for dairy free on puds

Went to this cafe for lunch yesterday. There were nine of us adults, 2 babies and 3 dogs! The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more friendly. Because of the size of our party they offered table service (it is normally self service) and we never felt hurried or a nuisance. Will definitely go again next time we visit Wells. Thank you so much.

Lovely Quiche and salad. £7.50 for it which is a decent price. Would have been nicer if there also was a Potato salad. Quiche very good. Service not with a smile and don't dare even ask if you can order before 12pm.

Only problem was if people left back door open, which created a draught.

I’m not a fan of pizza ( hard for some to believe maybe) but today I tasted a very different pizza , full of flavour and not at all heavy. The accompanying salad was delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient . The combination of the great food and service produced a warm, relaxed atmosphere . Thank you to all!

Big vibe at the good earth, this place always drains my wallet

Visited with a friend who had been before and mentioned how good the food was. When we arrived just after 12 there was already a long queue at the counter which is always a good sign. You line up and choose your food before locating a table. My friend and I both went for the quiche special of the day with accompanying salads. It was all absolutely delicious. One of the tastiest quiches i think I’ve ever had! Staff were very friendly and helpful, will certainly return.

Not a market day yet still, and understandably, full by midday - it is certainly worth booking if you can. Wheelchair accessible - they have a good ramp available to use at the front door. Easily worth five stars for hostelry, menu and atmosphere

Quick coffee, sat in the quiet outside space.. not quite the same as indoors.. with metal tables and chairs… and is a typical courtyard.. the space could be so much better… however the indoor of the Good Earth is lovely and lively… and it’s food offering is second to none… healthy and delicious.. I do enjoy coming here.. and it’s always busy.. so go early

Has always been my go-to place in Wells.But a little reorganisation of the space would make it even better, Long queue at the serving counter and people carrying their meals having to squeeze through narrow passage where others are queueing is really difficult Another moan is that one has to join the end of the queue and wait for people to be served just to get a cup of coffee after the meal.So you buy it with food and then have cold coffee! Surely the coffee and other drinks could be served separately?

Delicious food that is kind to the planet and to your body, but get there early if you want any choice as it sells out quickly - I can understand why! Definitely recommend it to anyone, lovely place with great staff.

Such an amazing find in Wells - we stumbled in here looking for a healthy and affordable lunch option while touring the Cathedral. You can select from a number of daily specials in a cafeteria-style serving line; we had vegetarian tagine and it was to die for. Great selection of beverages and coffees, too, and a very cozy and cute indoor space to sit. Highly recommend finding your way to Good Earth!

Beautiful, quirky, Georgian style building of many rooms and courtyard. Chunky bench tables and chairs, little side alcoves and rooms to choose from. Cafe serves homemade wholesome food, salads, flans, pies, soups, cakes, and plenty of vegetarian options. Ethical home wear products for sale in shop (fabric, mats, soaps, pictures, cards,candles, sprays, ornaments etc) and a wholefood shop to rear. Public carpark to side.

Fabulous veggie restaurant just off the beaten track in Wells. Generous portions of delicious home cooked food and good value for money. Loved the building too, with different nooks and cranies to sit in as well as an outside patio area.

Nice enough but too busy and crowded for my friend with Neurological problems,she had difficulty getting to a table and paying ,Girl on till seemed angry and rushed ,when we left , my friend had to be supported to negotiate the cramped tables .A gang of ladies kindly offered advice see ... what happens when you drink at lunchtime, Such a kind Gang of Awfully Awfully ,insular ladies...

Nicely quirky with fabulous food and friendly staff at a very good price. Vegetarian/vegan dishes and salads that are well prepared and not over fancy. The restaurant is close to the centre of Wells so easily accessible from the tourist spots by foot. I am already looking forward to my next visit. It’s also worth busing their health food shop next door for assorts of unqualified healthy treats and basics.

We visit weekly and are always delighted by the food available. Service is a little slow so queuing through a narrow passageway can be a tiresome.

Great little place with amazing food - I had the pizza and salad and it was lovely. Really good choice on the menu. Certainly very popular as we struggled to get a table on a Friday lunchtime. Busy but staff really efficient and counter service works well. Two toilets upstairs and I think a disabled one on ground floor. Definitely recommend

AMAZING HEALTHY FOOD AND BIG PORTIONS

interestingly when we looked on Google before we went, Google said that it was unusually busy. in reality there were hardly any customers but lots of staff, so go figure. The food was great, but once again it's the staff that really make a place memorable and I believe it was the girl who was one of the chefs who came out and said hello and we had a really good laugh and a good chat that made it extra enjoyable.. I will always remember this place for the friendliness of all the staff.. although they never said good bye when we left ..too busy closing up for the day...he he.

Pleasant cafe near the center of Wells. High quality food and beverages. It's the sort of place you could lose an hour reading a book with a coffee or two...

Lovely healthy food. However would like to see more vegan options for main courses. Place was busy, and obviously popular. Only Soya milk offered as an option for tea or coffee ( if you don't do dairy). Really should be offering Oat, and perhaps another such as Almond, Coconut or Pea?? Would be appreciated. I feel the place is similar to health food cafes I visited 20 + years ago. It hasn't caught up with recent trends. The staff were friendly and what I ate was nice, but just feel there is potential to improve a bit.

I understand they're busy but to have run out of food just after 2. Curry Dahl unpalatable as lentils undercooked. Not up to their usual standard. Surprised as usually had tasty meals here.

Had a tasty lunch here today. Quiche and salad and a pasta bake. Very friendly service, allowed us to bring our dog in and helped to carry trays to our table. Very pleased we happened across this place.

Fabulous, quick and tasty experience!! I ordered the chilli and a cappuccino to go and hardly had to wait 5 minutes. The members of staff were very friendly and approachable and the food was obviously cooked with care, very tasty and hearty. The portion size was amazing for the price paid. I noticed the coffee cup was biodegradable and the lid compostable which is another bonus! I'd encourage everybody to visit 🌻

We were recommended to try The Good Earth in Wells but the name chimed perfectly with our love of a veggie restaurant of the same name in Leicester, which we've been to regularly when there. The Good Earth, Wells is excellent! You order you food and drinks as you go in, pay, then choose a table and they bring the food out to you when it's ready. Vegetable Jalfrezi and a good salad went down very well. It was delicious!!! Staff pleasant and happy to help. Good website and as it occupies so much space inside and outside they say there isn't any need to book. Comfortable, airy place, well-recommended and definitely 5 stars without a doubt. We're what is now called Flexitarian but love veggie food. You need to try this place, I think you won't be disappointed!!!!

Excellent food, staff and value!

Wonderful vegetarian food, with quick service, even though they were busy today. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is especially welcome with covid around. The ordering system was a little confusing - you order on the way in, pay, and then you get escorted to a free table where they bring the food to you. This was not obvious to us as we entered, but we will know better next time we come. Great selection of vegetarian food - highly recommended.

Great coffee plus veggie and vegan food . Plenty of space indoors and large shady patio at the back . Loved it!

Very friendly staff, I arrived a bit late for the restaurant but they sorted out a takeaway and I went for a picnic which was delicious! Good portion sizes, enough for two meals. Salads were especially good, very tasty and healthy + vegan friendly.

Stopped in for cake and would recommend it. Sat in the courtyard area at the back. Friendly and helpful staff and the Mixed Berry Oaty was a stand out from the three pieces shared.
