Garda Restaurant in Kirklees

We came for our valentines meal tonight- will not come back again or recommend to others… We had booked over Facebook to which the restaurant had replied to accept (booked 28th jan). When we arrived they didn’t have our booking written down or recorded. They gave us a table anyway- however!- 2 hours we were in the restaurant and still had not had or been offered our dessert we had pre ordered. Staff were very young, not checking in on how our food was, we had to prompt for more drinks whilst sat with empty glasses. We then waited 45 minutes after our main to be approached by the waitress who admitted they had forgotten about us. We expressed we weren’t pleased with the wait- she then went to speak to her manager who never gave to see his “upset” customers and instead offered us 2 lemon shots… but these were being handed out to everyone anyway!. As we had been waiting over 2 hours we paid our bill which was over £100 with nothing being knocked off- as we left not one staff member said bye or thanked us. We walked straight past what we believed was the manager or owner standing at the door who did not acknowledge us what so ever. Very unhappy and will not be returning.

Been many many times, always excellent! Great food, big portions, good value for money. Staff are lovely. ❤️. Highly recommended.

Although it was Christmas Day, and you had to book, it was truly a memorable experience. Arrived at 3pm and we were shown to our table immediately. The restaurant was fairly busy but it was so well organised. The staff were incredible and not flustered at all. We were asked if we wanted to order drinks which we did. As we had pre-ordered our meals arrived promptly. The smoked salmon and prawns were really wonderful. We all had traditional turkey which came with the usual trimmings. For desert I had tiramisu, my stepson had Christmas pudding and my granddaughter had sticky toffee pudding. All were excellent. We left just after 5 . The whole experience was really relaxing and not rushed. A little expensive at £62.50.but worth it. No washing up. Will return

We had another great night! It's lovely to have such a good Italian restaurant so close to home, easily accessible and with a big car park. Fabulous food and service!

Varied menu with great choices including Simply superbly cooked lamb chops in cosy environment with gracious host Marco and wonderful friendly staff. Hidden gem but we’ll worth the finding.

Went to Garda for celebration meal for my granddaughters 17th birthday. Hadn't been for a while and was under new management. The food I have to say was exceptional as was the case with my parties. Although no magic as we usually had the food more than made up for it. Will certainly be going back

One of the better Italian restaurants outside of Italy - excellent pizza, pasta dishes, great selection of quality wines and attentive staff led by Marco… a little gem

Enjoyed my food and other staff were nice but be careful of the manager. Please do what makes you happy in life it is never too late.

Very accommodating welcoming host. We didn’t reserve a table for my wife and daughter (8 months) but they fit us in at a busy time. Service was exceptional which everyone was on the ball. We went for the early bird menu which seemed really cheap for what was on offer. Starter and main for £16.95. We had the deep fried mozzarella, meatballs, chicken in mushroom sauce and chicken Kiev calzone. Complimentary bread and olives comes out first, nice touch 👍🏻. I had to take home half of the calzone as it was huge. Eating the other half as I write this review. All the waiters/waitresses was very good with our child, interacting with her. She loved it. They provided a high chair which was of good standard and clean. The food was such good quality and value for money, we will definetley be back.

Pasta dish (I can't remember the actual name) was great along with my friend's pizzas which were massive. The service was brill with the tall blonde waiter and young waitresses being lovely as well as attentive. However the manager who took our order spoke in a rushed and rude tone before causing a commotion with one of the chefs in the open kitchen , was a surprise which slightly ruined the mood . We also asked for the patio door to be left ajar as it was a warm night , this was either ignored or forgotten about .

Cannot give enough praise ,the food was superb, great value and quality , excellent service ,great atmosphere,without doubt the best Italian food I've had in a long time we will be returning without hesitation very soon

This was our first visit since it changed hands and we were not dissapointed. The restaraunt has had a lovely make over. The atmosphere was lovely, brilliant presentation of the food and fantastic customer service. We will be booking to eat here again.

Really excellent value for money. Overall, we all enjoyed it. The Calzone needs a bit of work to bring it up to standard, but the price of the food made up for it.
