We decided to dine here as it was recommended by a friend. Restaurant is nice and clean inside and out. We received very friendly and courteous service throughout which added to the positive experience of our dining experience After looking at the menu online earlier, we decided that it was the Indian Non Veg Tawa that we're going to go for, for 3 people at £36. Food arrived after a reasonable wait, freshly cooked and sizzling. Each item was perfectly cooked and individually flavoursome, very enjoyable. Chips were also perfectly cooked as were the naan breads. Their was more than enough food for us, mix of starter items and mains, I would definitely say that on this visit the food received represented good value for us. The icing on the cake, if you will, was the excellent free dessert that we received, I was told that my original choice of Ras Maalai had ran out, however we were given the free dessert as the waiter saw that one of my fellow diners appeared to be struggling with the spice level of the food, what a unexpected yet brilliant gesture! Very glad we visited and will definitely be back here again soon.

Not sure if this place is under new management or new chefs but the Indian Tawa we ordered for four was not up the standard when it first opened. The portion was smaller with tiny amount of chips and only 2 nans offered. The chicken curry in the tawa was thigh meat rather then breast meat. The lamb curry was just bones with very little meat. You would get better value for money elsewhere. Message to management - be a little generous on portions and use quality meat. This will bring more customers. Won’t be going there in a hurry

Absolute horrendous place with unpleasant staff and owner! doesn't even know how to welcome people and smile... took a long time giving a table and gave us one right in the corner of the restaurant where the window is where people walk past and watch you! along with that there was no jug of water given at the table and no drinks offered! we was literally being forced to eat the buffet... when we wanted to have a table service order ... food was a disgrace no hygiene and no manners of staff! an absolute mood off and awful experience... it is not even worth rating the place as 1! that is how poor it was overall.... worst thing was the food arrived and the naan was cold and stiff not even able to pull it apart and the food had a hair in it... when telling the staff of the issue he did not even inform whether he was changing it or giving a new one or what.... took the entire dish and went away with no communication! Don't see this place lasting long! Avoid at all circumstances!

Visited this restaurant yesterday.Had not booked as was not aware we need to prebook (normally whenever we go leicester we just walk in to restaurants never had to prebook any). The staff were very polite and even though they were fully booked they still managed to give us a table. The food arrived within minutes after ordering and it was well cooked and tasted good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.Best place for a mixed grill!

This was mine and my family's first time at Gani's Tawa. We moved from Birmingham to Leicester twelve years ago and one thing we had found is that for Indian restaurants, Leicester was lagging far behind Brum. In the time we've lived here, I have to say this is the nicest food we've had in Leicester. We have three kids and they're quite fussy eaters but they all really enjoyed the food (we had a mixture of Indian and Chinese). On top of all that, prices were very reasonable, furniture and decor was nice and contemporary and the service couldn't be faulted. I don't normally write restaurant reviews but the experience was so good that I felt I should give credit where it's due- it's up there with anything you'll find in my former hometown. We'll definitely be back again.

Food was really good. But the lady at the counter had no people skills. Plus she took the order for drinks and didn't get them until 30mins later. Plus we waited over an hour for food. There was about six people when we arrived so can't understand why it took so long.. will go again but will order food and go out shopping and come back 30 mins later..

Excellent food quality, excellent service. They actually use their name very appropriately! Food is served on a Tawa (Indian / Pakistani utensil used to cook food on). Amazing setting to simply relax and wind down with family / friends. Definitely recommend it to others!

Went here for lunch with 19 colleagues from work. We had never previously been and just stumbled across the place on the internet. I am so pleased we did. We had an amazing lunch with enough food to feed 30. The starters were sublime and allowed us to taste a whole range. This then continued into the main course with many curries to try, naan breads and rice. Even our vegetarians and gluten free members were well catered for. The service we received was also excellent and deserves a mention. Overall an excellent lunch at a good price. Will definitely return when back in the area.

Just had the misfortune of having lunch at this place. Ordered a lunch thali and was served Nan and three little curries which bore no resemblance to any thali anywhere. Even after complaining they refused to rectify the meal. The chef seems to think he can serve whatever he wants to cook irrespective of what is ordered. In a place full of restaurants I doubt if this place will last more then 6 months. Try Cafe Delhi next door instead. Good food good service and proper tasty food.

Many Indian restaurants serve bland food where all the dishes taste the same. Here, things are different, with every dish being unique, and the meat quality is excellent - whether chicken or lamb. And the same applies dor vegetarian dishes. There were more vegetarians in our group & they were happy. The serving staff was very very helpful & happy to accommodate with extra mild dishes & even made a vegetarian dish for my Mum that was not on the menu. Prices are reasonable too. Overall, a superb place to eat in.

I had heard a few good and great things about Gani's. I was intrigued as I hadn't been to Leicester for a while for a meal. The FB page and reviews for Gani's looked intoxicating and really fancy. I was quite excited to go for the meal after making a reservation a week ago. Yes Easter Sunday was always going to be busy but we turned up early and we were seated. Decor was really nice and table was ok. Initial service by staff was fairly attentative, However I think staff under manned for the amount of customers in restaurant. It took approx 20-25 mins for the food to come out, our non veg tawa had two spring rolls missing which we didnt noticed but head waiter came rushing with them on a plate. The Manchurian starter and Non Veg starter were overly spicy which took us by surprise. Unfortunately the extra starter of Chicken Lollipop came with the main courses, they were delicious, but staff didnt clear up plates till we asked and extra plates had to be requested. My wife wasnt happy that the main courses came out with a starter and was cold by the time we started eating it. The main courses both were very average, this place it seems to run on it's Grills and Tawas, the vegetarian options were very lacking and the one we ordered very ordinary, it was left half eaten. Again trying to catch attention of staff who were running around like headless chicken was a mission. The food was very hit and miss, curries woeful, starters were good to ok. Quite disappointing overall trip and meal. I doubt I would give this restaurant another chance.

Visited this place as it looked clean, which it was. Service was good as to be honest, it was pretty much empty.Food was quite alright. Portion sizes for the price were quite small which disappointed me slightly. Meat on the lamb chop was very fatty. But chicken meat was good.Curry was VERY oily but was fresh and of a good taste.Overall an average place to go but not as cheap as you would expect as it had a cafe feel.

I attended Gani’s with a friend from London who was visiting for that day. He mentioned the place to me and I was not aware of the place as it was newly opened. However, upon entering and being shown to a table and ordering food I was surprised at the taste and quality of the food as we had ordered a variety of dishes. So much after my visit I have been back again I the food was so good. Well done guys.

Indian tawa was absolutely below any tawa I have had. The curries were tasteless and the lamb curry tasted off. The grilled meat looked like it was reheated and was like chewing rubber. Explained to staff manager that the tawa was poor and most of it was left and not eaten. No discounts given for this. Definitely will not return here what a waste of £76. If you want a nice tawa in Leicester you would be better off going to An najeeb.

Went here in early Feb when the restaurant was 10 days old. Ordered a paneer sizzler and nan, the paneer was cooked within 10 mins. The paneer was cooked in small cubes and thus was overfried. Shame. The nan was thin and tasty. Not many people where there. There is a window where you can observe staff cooking.

When we got to the restaurant it was empty. We were told by staff/manager that they had reservations in 45 minutes but that we could stay and eat there in the meantime. We were there for 1 hour but yet no-one showed up! Food was not fresh at all and didn't taste good. I assume they cook everything in batches in advance and store it in the freezer then reheat it for customers. Tasted very dilute and flavourless. I don't recommend this place at all.

Went down to try this new place out called Ganis tawa on Melton Road and I honestly would recommend this place to everyone. Food was Delicious and you can just tell it was cooked with passion and served professionally. They specialise in tawas and the Menu was full of different varieties from Indian to Indo Chinese also another advantage is that they do Veg and NON Veg which is really good. We ordered the Non veg Indian Tawa and each dish on the tawa was amazing and all of the food was fresh and had individual tastes, the portions are very filling great value for money . The service was Excellent and the Waiters fulfilled all our needs. Last thing I would like to say is the interior is outstanding as they have a open kitchen and you can see your food being freshly made by the Chef's. I will definitely be returning and would recommend this to all....... Great food Great service what more do you want Keep it up Guys !!!

DELICIOUS. VERY GOOD, OPEN KITCHENExcellent food, had Indian non veg tawa. Few different types malai tikka. Hariyali tikka, Chandni kebab. Every thing got different flavour as we can say all got different marination. I asked them why they don’t do tandoori tikka said they are doing different then other restaurant. Lamb kebab was good. Mari ghost never tried kind of curry very good taste as lamb was very soft with unique taste. And chicken deghi like proper traditional. Naan was very good with coriander. Everything served on iron plate. Delicious. WANT TO SAY OPEN KITCHEN WHERE WE CAN SEE HOW THEY COOK. EVERYTHING FRESH COOKED AS WE CAN SEE AS THEY GOT BIG GLASS IN BETWEEN KITCHEN AND DINNIG AREA. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Well what can I say, We went there on Saturday evening after making a reservation. We ordered a tawa for 3 persons. The food came within minutes and we were a bit surprised and no wonder. All the food was nasty, the curries, the tandoori chiken tikka, the sheekh kebab and there was even Donner meat (why?). The food was not freshly made, I think the tikkas and other (alleged grilled food) was boiled first and then maybe just a few seconds on the grill to make it look like grilled. All the food was prepared beforehand and then just put on a hot tawa and served to us. The Naan bread was too thin. Basically, the food in this place is nasty and rubbish. I cant imagine that this place will survive for long, buy hey this is Leicester and Leicester people are no very discerning.

I dined and the table was not clean upon entrance. I ordered a spinner wrap, which gave me food poisoning and left me with an upset stomach the entire day causing me to vomit multiple times. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. Only upside was the service and the man at the till who was very friendly and helpful

Guys, defo avoid this place, everything was poor, I came from Birmingham to buy a car with 3 other guys, was looking forward to some food and this place ruined my appetite for a week. Tasteless food, grumpy staff, overpriced menu, the family platter was only for 2 people, and do not eat the fish. Yuck!
