CUE in Leicester

Extremely rude staff. Needs to learn basic manners to start off with … maybe a smile instead of eye rolls on walking in? Wouldnt recommend to anyone! Food is overpriced for portion size and the taste is basic.. nothing impressive. Wait time is ages for a basic brunch order. I am shocked to see positive reviews - must be paid reviews. Much much better options in leicester which are family friendly and child friendly and make you feel like your visit is worth it.

I visited Cue with friends and children, including a pregnant friend, only to be met with unwelcoming service right from the start. Despite visible availability, we faced reluctance from staff to seat us and encountered unprofessional attitudes, particularly towards our children. The food, both sparse in portion and overly priced, did not meet our expectations for an English brunch. Staff behavior, including inappropriate gestures towards our children, further marred our experience, making us feel uncomfortable. Our visit was disappointing, and I would not recommend this restaurant, especially for families or expectant mothers. The lack of empathy and customer service spoiled our day out."

Food was lovely. Aliya was wonderful as a host. Friendly smile and excellent customer service. Food was amazing compliments to the chefs. Will definitely come back. 👍

We were kept waiting as the chef had yet to arrive, the brunch was mediocre and the pancakes were way over cooked and extremely hard to chew but the raspberry iced tea was nice.

Went to try coffee and food. However the kitchen was closed (no fault as new year). Coffee was little cold however promptly warmed up again. Tasted proper good coffee. Cake was nice. Service was friendly and professional. Ambiance is simple but pleasant. Will be back to try breakfast for a proper detailed review!!

Arrived on a Friday morning at 11am for breakfast, to instantly be told there’s no chef till 2pm so can’t order food. I didn’t mind settling for a croissant and cappuccino, but if you know you’re not going to serve food, perhaps stock up on a variety of croissants?! I had to have the last almond croissant - no different to what you buy in a supermarket, warmed up in a microwave!!! So it got chewier as it cooled and I was charged £3 for that disappointment and another £3 for a very bland cappuccino. The atmosphere was dull, extremely noisy, acoustics aren’t great in there as it’s a small place, plus every customer feels the need to shout. This isn’t the owners fault ofcourse, but for me this was the absolute opposite of a time-out treat, not quiet, not relaxing, not tasty, not a treat. I just threw away money on an a fully unpleasant experience.

Went for breakfast, the toast was cold and no butter was given. When I asked the lady for butter she took a few mins bringing out the butter. Then I asked for fresh toast which again took long. She charged me £2 for an extra 2 slices and I only wanted one slice and said they don’t sell as one slice. The girl was very rude and abrupt, for the last few years I have been going there and am very disappointed on the customer service and won’t be going there again.

The attitude of the staff was utterly disrespectful. I had the chicken brioche sub the burger bun had fungus on it and the cook was trying to deny it and he said to write a bad review. Never come here again. Only come if you want food poisoning

How to lose customers. Employ staff more interested in phone than customer. Don't provide toilet paper. Don't apologise when customer points this out. Don't do anything about it.

We came for breakfast at around 9:15am (they open at 9am) to be told their chef isn’t coming in until later so it’s counter pastries only. We ordered 2 drinks which came after about 5 minutes and our pastries were another 5 minutes. I had a croissant which was still somewhat frozen and my mum had the cinnamon swirl which she said was nice. Service was slow and food wasn’t fresh.

All I can say MashAllah,honestly the service food and the quality.I can easily say top ten breakfast spot in Leicester would definitely be visiting quiet frequently.We had a little bit of everything and I can say amazing you can’t go wrong .Worth a try 🤍

Cue is nestled amongst the numerous shops on Allandale Road. The interior decor is very minimalistic and modern. I've seen a few reviews that stated there isn't much seating, but for a Café I'd say there is ample seating. I was pleasantly surprised that the food here was halal. I got the 'full brunch' it's basically a full English breakfast... Instead of hash browns you get lovely roasted potatoes. The chicken sausages were delicious, the eggs were cooked to perfection with lovely runny yolks. I really enjoyed the toast too as it was toasted beautifully! My only criticism would be that the portabello mushroom that is served is just a tiny piece, so don't expect a huge mushroom! That said overall the breakfast was really delicious, everything was seasoned really well. My better half got the buttermilk pancakes which were amazing. The other thing worth mentioning is that the coffee was brilliant. Ordered cappuccino and instead of chocolate powder they put shavings of dark chocolate which was fantastic. Customer service was brilliant, our server was very friendly and offered to warm our chocolate croissant (which was very tasty). I think I'll definitely be coming here again and try some other items next time around. I would definitely recommend this place. It's probably on the pricier side but the service and food is fantastic.

Had the potential to be great, but didn't quite pull it off, which is a shame. Staff were quite disorganised and disinterested. Tables were slightly dirty and the place looked like it could do with a good clean. The dishes were very underwhelming and over priced for what you got. The French toast wasn't really French toast as it didn't look or have the texture like it had been dipped in egg and could have done with an accompaniment like cream or yoghurt! The presentation was also not the best either, there are much better independent brunch places like Kai and &Kith. Was not bad, but definitely not somewhere you would be in a rush to go back to.

Service was extremely poor. When we arrived into the restaurant it was busy but we sat down at the only table available. The table hadn't been cleared and empty glasses were still there it took about 15 minutes for it to be removed and cleaned. At this point the waitress tried to remove the menu whilst I was still looking at it. When I ordered my food and drink, I had to ask for a glass and she pointed towards the cupboard, I do not understand why this is not given at the counter or why I had to ask for it. My friend's food arrived first it was given to someone else eventually it arrived at our table, I waited for another 10 minutes and asked about my food and luckily it came straight away. I ordered the chickpea nourish bowl, it lacked flavour and disliked it. Overall it was disappointing.

Popped in here as was in the area. Didn’t even realise is was a halal restaurant. Had their breakfast and a pot of tea. The beef bacon and chicken sausages were lovely. Never had them before. The spices and seasoning sprinkled on the plate really lifted everything. Very tasty. Both myself and colleague loved it and would both recommend a visit.

I live round the corner from this place and love going there. The Eggs Royale are to die for! They're slightly heavy on the chili flakes, but you can ask for less of course. Everything on the menu is fantastic.

Really love coming to this place, their food is delicious. Only downside is it’s a small place so sometimes seating can be a bit limited and also the selection of sweet treats is not very original. Any way still love it here regardless

Had the full brunch at Cue after a very long time. I was impressed by the overall quality of ingredients, and the taste. Portion size was excellent. Service was on point and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again to try other menu options.

I have been wanting to go to CUE for something to eat ever since it opened. Last Sunday, I thought It would be nice to go there for breakfast. When I turned up around 11:30 am it was very busy and noisy, but as there was one table free I decided to give this place a chance as the breakfast menu looked very appealing. I think I ordered something called Eggs Royale, which usually comes with smoked salmon, but I asked for the smoked salmon to be omitted. The table I was going to sit at the front of the cafe was dirty and full of plates and cutlery from the last diner, which took the staff a while to clear and away. A staff member did clean my table with anti bacterial spray, but he should put the spray on a disposable piece of tissue and then use that to wipe the table, as using the spray directly on the table he was also spraying me. I would give this cafe advise to use an industrial brand of cleaner instead of using a brand from a supermarket. When my eggs Royale came I was a bit disappointed, the size of the muffins were tiny as were my eggs. The taste of the eggs and muffins were tasty and enjoyable. I was left feeling still hungry after eating my eggs which took me little time to finish. I felt like I’d had a snack instead of breakfast. These were the smallest poached eggs I had ever seen in my life. I don’t think I would go to CUE at a busy breakfast time again, not because it was packed full of people, because the place is so small it feels like there is no space to manoeuvre and there is little personal space between diners. I would go to CUE another time when it is less busy.

Regularly, sitting outside with an elderly relative, we have always considered the employees as more than obliging. Special requests for food/drink are met. The interior is uber trendy and minimalist. There is too a pleasant vibe of customers - people socialising rather than stuck on a lap top.

Best Halal breakfast in leicester!! very aesthetic and delicious!! Cafe is a bit small but we still got seating :D. Menu items were delicious and fresh. Tried coming back in september last yesr but they were shut due to a staff member having covid so I was extremely disappointed. Nevertheless I will 200% try to return again as the food was delicious and vibes were just so nice. Staff members were so nice ans lovely as well. Only problem is, is that its a tiny bit far from the city centre. But defo worth the trek as it really is the best in leicester for halal breakfast / brunch.

My oat milk latte was phenomenal but as there weren't any vegan options on the menu I wouldn't have stayed to dine had it not been for Chloe - a wonderful barista - who convinced me to stay for lunch and try a vegetarian salad that easily could be made as a completely plant-based one and I didn't regret it - it was delicious! I just wish the menu reflected the potential that this place has especially with people like Chloe behind the counter who had suggestions galore! Also a cafe with *shock horror* no vegan cake!! I hope to be back soon and see that the menus have been updated!

Lunchtime - not very busy at all but had to wait 15 minutes for drinks and 35 minutes for food (told wait would be 15 -20). Lad that eventually brought our drinks over told us they were very busy (they were not by any stretch of the imagination) and the chefs (yes, plural!) only cooked food orders one at a time! Food was undercooked when it arrived and not as described on on the menu (cold, oily half cooked new potatoes instead of homemade hash browns, watered down beans) I had to send the eggs back as they were not cooked and they still came back snotty! Half of our order was inedible and everything was covered in dried herbs which made the food taste like it had been dropped in a garden. We had to laugh, otherwise I would have been shouting at the very young staff to give me my money back and our poor experience wasn't really their fault. The young lady taking orders was very polite, professional and seemed to be the only one with any level of competency; the one star is for her. Definitely one to avoid.

Down the drain ! We used to love going to Cue for breakfast, not anymore. Everything has gone down in quality - food, service, just everything. We went to Cue for breakfast on Sunday 25th July 2021, got ourselves a table and placed the order. We ordered a full English breakfast and an avocado toast with poached eggs along with hot drinks. We were asked whether we wanted everything together and we said yes. Waited for 30 mins to see our English breakfast being served by the manager to a couple you had literally walked in and sat down after placing their order on the counter. Even that couple was amazed on how fast they got served. I said to the manager that we have been waiting for a long time and have not been served, maybe served the wrong table with that plate. He said they ordered before us, which was a plain white lie because they literally order 2 minutes before in front of us (we were sitting next to the counter). He then realised his mistake and went to the kitchen. Few minutes later he came with the Avocado toast with eggs which were in no way poached. He said the English breakfast would take only 2 minutes. A good 10 minutes later we noticed everyone who came after us had already been given their drinks and all we had was the avocado toast. I just could not take it anymore and asked the younger boy what was going on with the drinks, to which he replied we had asked for drinks later, which again was a lie. We just asked for a refund. The young boy who seemed more interested in wiping tables than serving food went to call the manager without an iota of apology. The manager literally rushed to the till and gave us a full refund. Their body language and the way they rushed to refund us only meant they wanted us out of the restaurant. The whole experience was just shocking. The funny bit is that when a girl, who must personally know the younger boy (the one who loved wiping tables) approached him to place her order and asked "Do you like it here", he replied "NO". We had a good laugh. Never going to Cue again. P.S: the glasses in which they serve you water are dirty enough to be binned.

I don't usually do reviews but I went to Cue on Wednesday and honestly, such good food and coffee I ordered the avocado on toast and it was some of the best avocado and toast I have ever tried the barista at the front had great customer service skills and made extremely good coffee defo recommend if you want a breakfast/brunch.

Nice ambience and good customer service but food was just average nothing special. Had the beef brisket hash along with chocolate and peanut butter shake. the beef brisket was bland not much taste but the shake was good. Not worth the price. Would go back but would try something different

I'm really disappointed today because the bathroom was unhygienic and dirty. Would expect higher level of hygiene in light of covid . Portion sizes are smaller. Ordered an avocado on toast got half a slice of bread with 2 poached eggs...normally you get more. I always went there before lockdown. Today was the first day after lockdown I went. I am disappointed as it appears the service was longer than usual. Waited nearly an hour for our food and the portion sizes are not what they used to be. Also the brioche bread used to be alot bigger and more selection of fruit. I hope cue up their game and go back to how it was. Fingers crossed! Bring back value for money and better service. Only good thing I can say now is good coffee and it is halal

I visited yesterday for an impromptu coffee and cookie whilst between jobs. It was a perfectly balanced flat white which I find hard to come by. Great job 😊

Lovely little modern cafe within my neighbourhood. Feel very welcomed every time I go and the service is generally great. The food and drinks are very tasty... always a hit. Would highly recommend.

Used to love going there but gone downhill recently. Coffee is not made to a high standard any more - milk is not properly textured nor latte art used (indicating a well-trained barista that knows how to make a good coffee). Good beans but coffee poorly extracted. Common for there to be lack of social distancing enforced and people without masks. Lack of small coffees and baristas not having heard of them or how to make them (e.g. macchiato vs piccolo vs cortado). Barista/server was eating at the counter - messy pastry and dangerous to coeliacs and keeping a clean environment in general. Could learn a thing or two from The Coffee Counter.

Love their food but disappointed with their customer service the past few times I've been. There are often things unavailable from their menu! Rang them several times before going today and they did not answer the phone. Got to the cafe at 3 30 and their kitchen had already closed when the cafe closes at 5? Wish they would make these things clear. Reluctant to go back!!!!

Terrible, terrible place! I've been there a couple of time and whilst I enjoyed it at the start, the service and quality of the cafe is really deteriorating. The last few times I've been there always seems to be an issue, either multiple items on the menu are out of stock or they're out of certain ingredients (despite eating in the morning/ early in their opening hours!) And their service is extremely slow. Today, I went over an hour and a half before closing and stood for a while before any employee even paid attention to us and when they did, they mentioned the kitchen was already closed! An hour and a half before closing time!! Truly appalling and don't think myself, family or friends will be visiting again.

Love this place, always look after me here. I normally take my gluten free bread with me so that I can have toast with the breakfast but today I got sourdough gluten free bread, amazing. Well impressed. They always check what I can and can't have. Can't praise the staff enough, they really go out their way as I normally struggle to have breakfast outside.

Lovely, stylish little cafe. Open is Sunday morning when we went and quite busy. They serve a selection of pastries and breakfasts at that time. We have 2 flat whites which were really good. Very pleasant service as well. They also have a couple of tables outside. Looking forward to going back again to try the breakfasts.

First time I came here I drove from across the city which was a wasted drive because no where online or in their cafe does it say the kitchen closes at 3 when the actual cafe was open till 5ish. Then the second time I came here they had no fries, no hash browns, no croissants, no rocket, I mean what’s the point. Oh and btw all their cakes and cookies are from Costco.

So I do quite like Cue, or at least I used to. After not visiting for a few months I decided to return for a brunch, only to arrive at around 2:30 to find out the kitchen was closed. This was incredibly infuriating because due to the COVID pandemic, I had checked online before setting out to make sure the place was open, which it was, but had no information that the kitchen would go rogue and close out of nowhere. I decided to give the place a second chance. On the second visit I was informed the kitchen had “ran out of a lot of stuff” (why no go rogue again and close it at this point), what I wanted to order is not what I received, as there was no chips, couldn’t swap for a hash brown, because they had ran out of them too, couldn’t get a croissant, because shock, they’d ran out, and I just heard the lady at the table across say to her child “you can’t have French toast because they’ve ran out”. Maybe Cue, it’s time you get someone to run in to Costco and pick up some more ingredients, because we all know that’s where you’re cakes, cookies and croissants are coming from anyway. I would give you a 3 chance, because some say it’s a charm, but in all honesty I can’t be bothered to waste my time again. I gave you two stars because when you can actually get a hold of it, your food is decent.

Amazing and Delicious. Firstly, the Menu is fully Halal. The food was really good and everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely adding this place to my regular breakfast spot.

Don’t bother wasting your time. Most of the items on the menu always seem to be out of stock. The customer service is rubbish. On numerous visits I had to select what to eat 3 times because the items I ordered the first 2 times were out of stock. It wasn’t even the case that they told me straight away, they took 10/15 mins to then come and tell me to order something else. The staff hardly know what they’re doing and it takes them about 10 minutes to fry an egg. Shame to have spent so much money on the decor and aesthetics to then fall short on the service.

I had planned a socially distanced picnic with my friends and we decided we would get our food from cue. OH BOY what a MISTAKE. Both on cue’s Instagram page and and online it says they open at 9am. I attempted to call multiple times at 9am and they didn’t answer. Living not too far I decided to go to the shop and was informed that their kitchen does not open till 10:15. I informed the staff member no where does it state this and my plans would now be ruined. He rudely informed me without a care in the world that he had only opened 5 minutes ago and there was nothing he could do. I’m very disappointed please change your incorrect Instagram and google my business page to reflect your actual opening!

The place had a nice vibe. And a great brunch selection, tasty and varied. All meat options are halal too which is a bonus.

Visited today for an early mother’s day brunch, the place was clean and tidy and not busy, we ordered our food at 1.30 but only received it after 40mins!! I had my children with me who were starving by 2pm and I had to ask what was going on because my kids were unable to wait any longer, when eventually the food did come out the pancakes were so hard my kids couldn’t eat them they ended up eating both mine and husbands food. Only one staff member who was trying to do everything that I couldn’t ask for butter for my toast so went without. My husband was due back at work by the time we had finished (we rushed because of how long it took) so I couldn’t speak with staff about the experience and what I noticed is that others that came in after me were served food quicker than I was and had even left! Not a great experience unfortunately, will not visit again unless I have endless time to sit and wait.

Went for an early lunch and it was very busy. Wasn’t sure if we were supposed to find our own table or not so went to ask. The young chap was very friendly and could tell he was rushed off his feet. Anyway found a table and sat down. No one came to take our order so after a while I went to ask if we had to go to the front place the order (couldn’t remember). Was told by an extremely miserable lady that yes, place the order there. No smile just a straight poker face. . Placed the order for food together with hot drinks. After 35 -40 mins no sign of coffee or food. Went to ask and the very ‘happy’ (not) lady stared at me like I was being a nuisance..... and thankfully the chap was very gracious and apologised and said he was rushed off his feet (I could see he was doing everything!). Got everything after nearly an hour. My food was ok but my daughters pancakes were thick and stodgy. I can understand at busy times there are delays but a service with a smile goes a long way. This is the second time I’ve been there and both times that same lady looked quite miserable. Table was sticky and when I asked for it to be cleaned I was told it had and it was the coating on the table that caused the stickiness...... ok then. Won’t be going back.

Dainty little place.. Very popular and busy.. Great tasting coffee! The only downside (with no fault to the business) is that parking is quite difficult to find and there are one way streets where this business is located We ended up parking on a residential street and walking as the parking outside was all taken up.

We came with our 3 children after school on Friday. Nadia was very lovely to my children and was extra attentive With our order. The drinks came super hot which we like and the kids really enjoyed the sprinkle of chocolate on their drinks. A true asset to Cue. Thank you again Nadia.

Went here on recommendation for brunch. Beautiful cafe, bright and warm! The staff were so friendly and the coffee fantastic. They offer a range of alternative milks for vegans too. You can also create your own brunch using their extras which was truly delicious. My partner had the full English and really liked it too. Perfect Sunday morning! I was also informed all their meat Halal, so it's a very inclusive cafe.

We are regular customers at Cue, last time we visited place in bigger group for Mum's birthday party. Was 10 of us without booking, staff dont mind our celebrating and cheerfull mood ( we had few drinks before😂) manage to find proper table for us, serve as fast, properly and with best possible manners. Mum was blessed with amazing birthday coffee, and wishes written on pancakes 😍😍 we gonna be back soon, our baby boy truly loved his special drink! Thanks for amazing time!

I highly recommend the CUE. First thing that stole my heart was really good quality and tasty coffee. Secondly, I fell in love with food! Fresh indegrients, great flavours and various menu. I had avocado on toast with poached egg, feta cheese and chili lime dressing. It was marvelous! To satisfy my sweet tooth I ate berry pancakes and they were soo good, that I ordered extra take-out portion! And the last thing worth to mention is really symphatetic and pleasant staff. People who work in CUE are spreading good energy all over the place and thats why, I want to come back again!

This was the first time I came to this café. It had a lovely ambience with its decor. The staff there were very friendly and the food was delicious. Would go again.

We were served an undercooked breakfast (including meat). They had run out of most breakfast sides by 11am (are you not prepared?) The food took 45 minutes+ to arrive and the staff were not apologetic at all. They also seem to hold hash browns hostage (bizarre). Awful service and really poor standards of food safety. I would recommend going to Browns a few doors down where you’re not risking your life with a Saturday brunch.

I have visited CUE on many occasions, today I took a friend along for breakfast. Both of the Breakfast came out cold, we politely told the waiter. Who was so lovely and helpful. The response from the Chef was she’s not making another one she got other customer to serve! You can have your full refund. There was one other customer waiting in there. That’s not a great customer service we were looking forward to our breakfast she could’ve even put it in the microwave!!! Will not be returning! Instead we went to Browns tea room down the road for a lovely breakfast.

I love this place. Service is on point and they always go the extra mile so ensure your happy with your food! I’ve been many times for breakfast and a few times for lunch. Enjoyed both!

When this first opened, every detail from the preparation of food to the high quality of service was perfect. After my last visit, I will not be returning. The staff were attentive, cleaned none of the tables in my 1 hour there, served food after 45min wait even though it was not busy, and the food was terrible and over cooked. The standards have dropped massively, and I don't see this place staying open for long at this rate...

I've been to Cue quite a few times now but since the last visit am unlikely to return. On my last visit I wasn't happy with my iced tea - I found it far sweeter than I had had it before and had ordered that very same drink at least twice in the past. I could hear the waiter moaning to his colleague as he remade the drink. Essentially speaking at a volume that the entire cafe could hear - stating I was mistaken and the drink was made exactly how it ought to have been. Even if that was true I found his attitude extremely unprofessional and it's put us off ever going back.

Easy simple taest full menu, exceptional out standing

My boyfriend and I used to really love this place and visited regularly; we felt it was just what was needed in the area. When the man with the beard worked there (not sure if he still does), it was a really great place to eat and he was always chatty and friendly.

Unprofessional manager who had the audacity to give me attitude, I was a regular customer but won’t be visiting this place again, very rude members of staff who need to be spoken too, or very soon this business will go down hill because of them, I’m not going to explain what happened, as I don’t even think I need to explain myself.

I came here last week with my friends and my son (in a pram) and found that the waiter who served us was extremely rude. He seemed to mind that we had our prams were in the cafe, even though they were not affecting anyone around us. I normally try to avoid reading negative reviews but I think that the owner needs to be made aware of this particular staff member as some of my friends have refused to go back there because of the terrible service they received. It’s a shame because I loved the Victoria sponge cake and the cappuccino. There are plenty of amazing businesses on Allandale road with great service and it’s a shame that this cafe has been spoilt by a rude member of staff.

Bit over priced and food does not come at once out of 5 meals 3 came first then 5 mins later the 4th then 15 mins later the 5th dish ordered two teas they bought 1 cup then ten mins later the second cup came with the milk they need to pay attention to times

Okay.. after much recommendation my friend and I decided to try Cue’s full English and Florentine. Although the meals were presented well the cutlery (before having touched our plates) had a smell as if they had not been washed properly.

My wife and I tried it for the first time this morning after a recommendation from a friend and we were so impressed! The service was brilliant and the food was delicious, flat white was so good I had two! The decor is sleek and modern and clean. Great value for money as the quality of the food is excellent! Will definitely be coming again! Best halal breakfast in Leicester, one of the best breakfast we’ve had.

We arrived not long after opening Sunday morning for breakfast so we were the only ones there at first. Staff were really friendly and helpful, the drinks were delicious (especially the hot chocolate!), and the food was great - well-cooked, generous portions, and tasted lovely. Really nice decor and atmosphere - would definitely go again, even if just for a hot chocolate!

Always impressed by Adam and Allan. Pair of excellent Baristas, exceptional service, and such a joy to talk to. Oh, and Adam's beard... one of the neatest and well-groomed around!
