Lahori Tawa in Leicester

Tried tawa was good just parking is a bit issue on busy day.

It’s hard to find the place but it’s a really nice place to go and food it amazing, price is great aswell

I visited today lahori tawa Leicester. This place is closed down. And an Indian halal restaurant established there.

Been twice already hopefully regular now 😁

Lahore tawa has actually shut down! They still have the banner up outside the building, but when I went to the restaurant they said it had shut down and had been replaced with a south Asian restaurant. I didn’t eat at this new replacement restaurant. They still have not closed down their website or updated their details!

Desi tawa was good 👍and strawberry mojito was awesome but falooda was not good at all.

Tasty food with good presentation. The staff was very kind and friendly. Liked the services.

The Lahori Tawa is so easy to miss as the restaurant next door is 'Dawat' but the 'Dawat' wall facing you as you walk from the main road side has a large sign on the side of the wall displaying 'Lahori Tawa', so one can easily be confused. For Lahori Tawa you have to walk down the stairs and the establishment exists in the basement. We chose 'Mila Jula Tawa' (view photo). The food was really nice & tasty & even though we reached late and they were to about to close they accommodated our request.

Ordered x2 Tawa for 5 people potion was good! Everyone enjoyed their he food really pleased we visied Only thing that let them down is the basement deco out dated just needed a new face overall. But definitely food 10/10

This place failed in every category imaginable. 1. Location. This is effectively a basement with no windows, proper ventilation or lighting. The tables and tawa holders were dirty with salan stains and were not clean. The entrance is like an alleyway and it does not feel like a proper restaurant. I would score 2/10. 2. Seating. The upholstery is ripped and the tables and chairs seem to be mismatched with no uniformity. The waiters seem to be wearing casual clothes and we could not distinguish waiters from guests. We called ahead to accomodate a table of 10 people but it seemed two random tables were pulled together infront of us whilst we awkwardly waited on the side and it felt really unorganised. I would score 2/10. 3. Name. I came here expecting lahori (punjabi) cuisine with some dishes from this region. I did not find any of this on the menu and the food tasted very bland with little to no spice. It seems rather misleading and there is nothing punjabi or lahori about it. I would score 2/10. 4. Service. Our order was duly taken on arrival but they seemed to have missed half of our order. It was now 9.30pm so we decided to eat what was served. We finished half of the meal with some of our family members and children not eating properly or at all due to missing food. The drinks were also missing from the table. We chased for the remaining tawa and the waitress told us to allow them a further ten minutes. We asked the owner again after 30 minutes and she told us the chef had missed the tawa and we would have to wait another 25 minutes for it. We decided to give up and leave but we were charged for the tawa and drinks which we did not recieve. This was rectified. I am aware the other guests in the restaurant had similair issues as us. I would score 1/10. 5. Food. The food is very overpriced with little to no flavour. It is served on a large tawa but the food itself is very less and is served on a large bed of uncooked white onions to give the impression it is abundant. The chips were around 20 single peices covered in ketchup and chilli powder. It could not be sufficient to satisfy 2 children. The tawa js said to feed 4 persons at a price of £46.00 but 2 people could finish it with ease. The seekh kebabs are the thickness of one's middle finger and the chicken has a rubbery texture and feel. The shish kebabs are the size of one's thumb and the tawa contained two peices. 6. Overall. This place is not worth visiting. We only attended as other restaurants were too busy and it was getting late for the children. I will score 2/10.

Ordered on uber...not good value for money at all..chinese tawa..chicken all chewy ..tastes stale...portion size terribly small..presentation awful..4 different dishes packed in one foil container...

Honestly don’t know where to start. From the minute we sat down we had a complete horrible experience. They brought unwashed drinking glasses to the table. We ordered the food around 8.30pm chased then 4 times for the food to be told that they forgot to put the order through to the kitchen. We received our food at 9.20pm. The food came, the chicken was cold, and the lamb chops weren’t cooked and were raw. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant unless you want to get food poisoned.

Booked a table got one late then we waited for our food for 1 hour. After 1 hour half of our food arrived having been told the rest will follow in 10 mins. After half an hour we were told the order was incorrectly taken. Many people were complaining about the seating and we were also charged for the order which we didn't receive. We informed the staff who then deducted the missed order. Needs closing down.

Worst experience with food and quality, low on food quantity as well ordered Chinese tawa and all times was loaded with only black paper taste and chicken items had weird smell when u take bite of it as like not washed and clean properly before cooking I would rate food on 2.5/10 , waste of money

Absolutely horrible! I went there for dinner with my family today . The place was not clean at all. The service was slow as many customers kept asking for the whereabouts of their order. We ordered the mila jula tawa which had no basic taste of salt and spices of any normal barbecue and curry. I would definitely advise not to visit this place .

Some greasy man came and took our order the tables were disgusting, floor was disgusting seen the waiters/kitchen staff touching food with their bare hands, literal filth everywhere even in the toilets third world hygiene at best, left the door for the kitchen open aswell smoke was everywhere, absolutely disgusting so disappointing seeing as these guys are supposed to be my people as I’m from Lahore the food took a good 2 hours and a half to arrive even though the restraunt. Was practically empty, random sweaty men walking everywhere tables unclean the menus were clearly being re used from previous orders as my menu had oil and grease on it not very covid friendly either, absolutely dissapointed will never ever step foot in this restraunt ever again.

Went for a wedding dinner. for starters were chicken tikka, seekh kebab and papri chaat. all were outstanding, the mains were lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala and lamb karahi. lamb karahi was one of the best I've had and the other dishes were very good too. for dessert there was kheer and that was great. service was a bit slow but the food made up for it big time. Lahori tawa is a hidden gem. definately would go to try out teh other dishes on future.

First time visiting.. didn't enjoy it unfortunately. The presentation is not good, maybe get a smaller tawa platter so it doesn't look like there isnt much food on there! Portion size adequate, the meat was mostly bone too. I enjoyed the rice and roti with chicken curry but just wasn't enough of it for the price not worth it.

Definitely the best tawa place in Leicester. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely recommend it!

I wanted to try mutton karahi... so I opted for Mila Jula Tawa ( recommended by the waiter ).. with this tawa... along with mutton karahi I got variety of 6 different dishes on 1 platter... amazing and tasty!! Mr. Asif the owner came along to enquire if everything was OK. So over all, I would highly recommend this place. So food lovers go ahead and enjoy the tawa.

me and my family were recommend this by a close friend, she stated that the food taste as it was made from back home. When i came in i had to wait to be seated while the restaurant was empty, the food came very late and not at the same time as stated to the waiter. The service was horrendous, i called the owner 'Asif' and complained but he stated that it was not his fault as we ordered a big amount and it takes longer to cook. while me and my family were in the restaurant we also noticed a RAT and we noticed the owner coming with a stick, hitting the RAT in front of us.

Although, this wasn’t our first choice, I visited Lahori Tawa with my family as part of the “Eat Out To Help Out” scheme. Luckily as it was only 6pm, we didn’t have to queue and the five of us were seated immediately upon entering. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Owing to the humid weather and lessened appetites, we only ordered the Sizzler Tawa for 3 along with two plain naans. We were served our drinks along with complementary poppadoms whilst we waited for our food to be prepared. The food was piping hot and fresh when it arrived. The meat/chicken was succulent and tender and had a delicious BBQ flavour to it. However, it IS fairly mild so it is perfect for anyone who doesn’t like overly spicy food. After our meal, surprisingly, we were offered complementary kheer which we took away with us being too stuffed to eat it immediately. Although clean and hygienic, the interior may feel lacklustre for those who wish to have a more luxurious dining experience. Also, wheelchair or pram users may struggle as the restaurant / dining area is located in a basement and accessed after descending a flight of stairs from the main entrance. With the “Eat Out to Help Out” discount our bill came to £24 - an absolute bargain! Overall, this place was worth the visit and definitely a better alternative to cooking at home in the heatwave we’ve been having!

This place is amazing 😉. I came here with my family for a birthday celebration and the service was exceptional. The Chinese Tawa was delicious. I would definitely come here again.

Horrible food cheap nasty tawa, the bits in my curry where bits u see that butcher will cut off n throw in the bin, coke bottle was out of date. I tried this place 2 years ago and all the memories came back. Dirty floors tables I will never dream of going here again

It is the worst place to experience so far.food might looks good but taste aweful. They have charged £55 for drinks and 1 mixed tawa consisting of lamb karahi, chiken karahi, chiken seekh kebab,lamb chops , chicken sheesh , chiken wings, rice , chips and naan bread. Portion size was quite adequate and price is good but seriously if you are looking for some good tasty food place then i bet that you shouldn't have to go this place. Please don't look at the star ratings.its all lie. Best of luck with your food / resturant hunt.cheers

The Tawa is spectacular with a friendly service.

Would never recommend this place. Ordered an indo Chinese Tawa and it came with No garlic prawns, no chicken lollipop, no chicken 65 and no boneless gazebo. On the box the chef wrote added extra paneer but the box literally had 2 pieces of crispy chicken, a few bit of chopped paneer and 80% of the box was basically onions. My partner is a pescatarian and could not eat any of it. Had to get a full refund from Just eat - very poor and would suggest ordering from other places instead.

Good service. Well priced menu. Flavours are well balanced. We asked them to limit the spices and heat. Food was cooked beautifully, and exactly as we asked. Very pleased with the hygiene standards too.

The restaurant at the front of service was being run by 1 poor young chap running around like Manuel from Fawlty Towers. There was bits of old food all over the carpets, below the tables, on the empty tables. Went to the toilets, where the floors were so greasy it felt like an ice rink! Two separate groups of customers walked in. had a look around and then walked straight out. Inside the kitchen (you could have a look when the doors opened), there was food, cardboard, flour and liquids all over the floors. Two young managers types walked in later behind the counter, and proceeded to work at a snails place, messing around with the remote control. None of the staff understood basic HYGIENE, this is the dirtiest restaurant in Leicester! Unfortunately we had already ordered the food before we noticed all this, and when the food came it was tasty, yes but the tawa for £25 was mostly carbs, rice, noodles and rice with a few pieces of chicken. Overall the place was run by a bunch of lazy people with the exception of poor Manuel. Avoid!

We have been so many restaurants in Leicester and most are really poor, give indigestion, throatburn or a funny feeling in your tummy. Not here the food was amazing! No issues. Waiter was really kind to us aswel. We had chicken and lamb karai, masala chips and were absolutely delicious! Definitely will go back there again!

Last time I ate at this restaurant the food was brilliant. This time it was disappointing. The rice was half burned and the meat was not spicy at all. A couple of other famalies left half of their dinner and left. I felt sorry for the young lad who was alone and was trying his best to attend to all the tables.

Lahori tawa is best food and good service. Try to go Lahori tawa and test.

Really awkward everytime I go here, the food brings me back each time. The staff are extremely awkward as when people walk in they ignore them and let them find there own way and sit wherever and u have to call them several times for them to notice u

Food was ok.. chicken wings were not cooked. Overall ok.. Chinese tawa was ok. Nothing special.. the food had 3 large onions sliced more than the food.. maybe think hard if I ever visit this place again.. May stick to others where the food is above par.

A very good concept and a real hit and miss. I’ve been here once and it was great. The second time it was more or less stale microwave food. If it’s cooked fresh no doubt it works and it tastes great. But when it’s the stale stuff it’s literally nasty.

Went to this place hoping it will be good, When I got to the restaurant I was a bit surprised that it’s in a basement. But once I entered I was impressed with the restaurant and the food was perfect.

Very rarely I give a terrible review until now. We asked for a dish called Mix Tawa, the taste was terrible, the only good thing on the whole plate was the kebabs. The food was dry, we guessed they gave food from two days before and just reheat it. Neither I and my wife couldn't finish. We were all alone in the restaurant and I think maybe they didn't care about giving good food to us. It was a very bad experience. The staff was gentle and the restaurant is clean and with good ambient. We just had a bad luck.

Great service and food, they are very friendly and I would recommend buying the mix combo tawa. They made us feel welcome and the food was more than satisfying with great flavour and spice. We even got complimentary rice pudding which tasted nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I went with family and I have to say I was impressed with the quality of the taste and meal. The portion sizes are reasonable and the prices slightly higher than expected but the food was spicy and excellent so cannot complain. Would recommend and will be going again soon. The service was a little disappointing as the waiter got my order slightly wrong and it was late despite myself being one of the first to order from a large number of family members

Ordered a tawa for 4. The nan was the only thing fresh. Everything else was not. And we waited 45 mins. But we were given complimentary kheer at the end which was nice. Not many people in there so not much of an atmosphere and there TV was playing David Attenborough the blue planet. Not the entertainment you want which eating.

I went here a couple of times with relatives. The portions used to be a good size. These have shrunk just like the taste. It is not as good as it used to be plus they don't accept cards so the additional issue of having to walk up the road to withdraw cash from the ATM.

i visited this place yesterday. i went to Leicester with my friends for meeting. they were really convincing me to visit this place with them as they used to get food from here and liked it the most. the food was amazing. the staff was very friendly and cooperative. the best thing i liked about that place environmentalist. it was very clam and relaxing environment. effeminately visit again

It's worth a visit once in a while, good variety of choice and the portions are big enough, value for money. A bit difficult to find as it's in a basement. They only accept cash!!!

The food is too oily. If they used a lot less oil it would be better. Other than that, the spices were delicious, and the colours inviting. Unfortunately left there unsatisfied.
