Ganges in Eastbourne

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff are good. I found the dishes too hot for the dish I chose and there were no hot wipes offered after the meal. I would go again though.

Lovely food , restaurant a bit dated and service good but not excellent everything appeared a bit tired including the staff.

The food at this Indian restaurant is okay, with plenty of options from starters to main course and sides. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the highlight is definitely the stunning harbor view. They offer a Sunday lunch buffet at a reasonable price, making it a great weekend spot

We had a takeaway food was lukewarm warm so had to microwave it. Curry rice Bombay potatoes was nice but very disappointing tandoori king prawn everywhere else I’ve been you’ve got 4 large king prawns !!! Here got 4 normal small prawns not worth the money . Wouldn’t use again

After spending the day in Eastbourne, enjoying the Eastbourne Airshow from the beach & the fun atmosphere in the town & promenade, we were thinking of where to go for dinner. Decided to head to Sovereign Harbour & try out Ganges Indian Restaurant - which was a great call. The restaurant has a prime location & the seating inside overlooks the harbour. We ordered some drinks & poppadoms & reviewed the menu.We ordered a chicken korma, chicken dansak, plain rice & plain naan. The food was delicious & flavoursome. The service was polite & attentive. We will definitely come back when next in the area.

Had the buffet time at 12 there is so much choice &the food is amazing .The desserts if you can manage one are very good .we sat by the window over looking the harbour .Please try it for yourself .

This is a great place to eat the food is excellent with fantastic views of the harbour,the only drawing back was it did lack abit of atmosphere but that was possibly due to the fact we ate early in evening, the food came out quick and was hit and served well again my preferred I would have liked a little time between courses it was done and dusted very quick soon as yr starter was done that was whipped away and main presented I would have preferred a fee mins in between service ,I would highly recommend the ganges to eat when visiting the sovereign harbour.

We visited for my Mum's birthday. Staff were so attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The Sunday buffet lunch is fantastic value and the food plentiful and of really good quality. Delicious, freshly prepared salad options and side dishes. Beautiful venue. All in all a really good experience.

The Ganges special Sunday Buffet is the best buffet I have ever enjoyed in my life as well as the best value for money. For a modest £14.95 per person, I could have eaten as much as I like from a delicious range of Starters, Main Courses with side dishes, and Desserts. To my mind the piece de resistance was the fantastic display, quality and large choice of salads, pickles and chutneys. My favourite was a fruit salad that included fresh strawberries, mango, pineapple, avocado, and grapes. On top of all that there was a very attentive and friendly staff, and the Ganges is situated on the first floor with an amazing panoramic view of Sovereign Harbour Marina. I wish I lived nearer to Eastbourne so that I could enjoy this experience every Sunday.

I went to the Sunday buffet. It was beautifully presented with an amazing choice. Lots of salads and of course amazing tasty curry. Will be returning fantastic value.

If you want good home cooked Indian food the buffet on a Sunday lunchtime is a must. Reasonably priced, good service polite and courteous staff, clean and well maintained surroundings

We went New Year’s Eve for the set menu and live entertainment! The entertainment was good The gif was almost inedible! The starter player was dried up, overcooked and cold The main: the salmon was ok but very sweet, the chicken curry was swimming in oil, the lamb curry looked like it had been overcooked and reheated a number of times both curry’s very bland, the Bombay potatoes looked more like leek and potatoe soup no flavour at all the rice just like rice naan bread flat and reheated

Service shocking. Waited ages for drinks then about 90 minutes for our food to be bought out. Food alright (just!) Shame as had take away delivery before & food was good. What’s happened?

Such a shame, to start the poppadoms were stale, I asked for more fresh ones but was still stale. The main, I ordered a chicken Madras. It could have been more spicy for me however the main thing was it was bland and for the price it did not have much chicken of curry sauce. Sides were coconut rice and garlic nann. The rice was dry and stronger had chunks of brown sugar in it. The nann was the only saving grace. In general its a great venue, however there is stuff that let's this place down, a simple example is the plastic basket which the they serve the nann is tacky. Ultimately I should have been worried when I saw the table across from me order some French fries, at an Indian come on.... for me its a shame because I wanted a good Indian meal but I was left wanting.

Absolutely brilliant night tonight watching Abba. Food was excellent, entertainment very good and service was spot on. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to revisit.

Sunday buffet is a great way to enjoy all your favourite Indian flavour profiles plus try something a little diffrent without the confusion of will I like it. I didnt book the place looked pretty full but they managed to squeeze us in with a short wait! Great view of the harbour too all in all very plesent experience.

Best Indian restaurant in Eastbourne i've ever been in my life. I booked two people last Friday night with my partner. I had an amazing experience with interior view & delicious Indian food. We ordered chicken tikka (main) and Lamb shank dhaba spicy. They were mouthwatering dish. The waiters were very attentive. They maintain everything nicely. We will definitely come back again❤️

Food was not as expected.If you are indian or Nepalese, You’ll not get the taste that you expect. Disappointed with the biryani(tatse and portion both). Little updragee on the ambiance is needed.

Our son was with us yesterday so we decided to have Indian. We live on the harbour only a 8 minute walk away from 'The Waterfront', so can benefit from the 10% discount the Ganges offers for collection! It's our 'go to' Indian restaurant and always consistenly good. Last evening was no exception. Phoned just before 1800 hrs for collection at 1830. Ready for us on arrival and the food was great as always. Portions are big too! Even my son, who is a big eater (us not so much!!), couldn't eat all of his order. We are having all that was left (quite a lot!), with jacket potatoes for dinner today!!

Things have changed seems as if staff and chef are new, the fascination for a good tasting Ruby is great,lamb was chewy and not nice my opinion is that the Lamb was old and reheated, cannot put my finger on how the waiter serving us his attitude not correct with how he spoke. This was a birthday meal bad experience won't be going there again my honest opinion.

Ask for a lamb dish the most flavoured dish thay had on the menu or if the chef to better it I got A lamb buna 🤦‍♂️which had no flavour nor did the rest of the food that come out and to top it off One of the waiters come over to say that my 4 year old had made some mess on the floor while eating one of his dry soft poppadom that tasted like they were cooked The day before definitely not a restaurant to go if you enjoy nice food and flavours.

Visited here this evening. Ordered King Prawn Tikka Masala... cost £14.95 and there were only 3 king prawns! We called them over to clarify if this was right and we were told yes! That is very poor value for money! They weren't jumbo prawns, just standard king prawns. Totally over priced and won't be returning. Staff were attentive, lovely and clean restaurant but very overpriced food. Very poor value for money.

Last week, 9 of us had a memorable meal. The food was excellent, the service very attentive, the atmosphere perfect. A truly enjoyable and very professional experience.

Don’t come here with any young girls as there is a predatory member of staff who will make inappropriate and bold advances and play them off as jokes - disgusting

Terrible atmosphere service was poor never got asked if we wanted dessert or coffee waited well over an hour for our food to arrive some of the dishes had what looked like heat film on it was under the lights to long . Never going back there again not even if you paid me

The food was fabulous. However it was spoilt by the wait of an hour and a half for our food to be served. Also the staff were very abrupt and although the restaurant is in a prime location it had no ambient atmosphere. We will not be going again!

A really enjoyable experience for a relaxing, delicious sunday lunch buffet. Highly recommend the freshly prepared selection of all our favourite Indian dishes. Even the young ones are catered for with nuggets and fries! Recommend you book your table then sit back and take in the great views over the harbour. We will definitely be returning asap.

Believe the restaurant forgot our order as people who arrived after us were served first. We we disappointed with the main meal with regards to the taste and quality of it. Will not be returning.

Visited a couple of times, love the food, will visit again

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered, and told 45 mins, however 1 hour and a half later we are having to call to find out where the food is, was told it was on the way, a further 20 mins past, still no food so called back again to be told the driver had only just left, when the food finally arrived, tasted bland, and only received half of our order!! Staff were nothing but rude on the phone and not apologetic in anyway. Avoid takeaways at all costs id say unless you want to wait hours, be lied to and only receive half your order. 👍🏻

Well we used to use Ganges very regularly. It was our treat when we wanted to celebrate a family occasion we would all choose there. No question. Til last week. We took my son and his friend for a ‘special treat’ His friend lives in Eastbourne but told me he’d never been there. Oh no I said. This is the best curry house anywhere!!! BIG MISTAKE. We arrived at 8pm. Had booked the table cos it used to be heaving. Nope. Two tables taken and us!!! Waiter took our order, brought our drinks and starters. Within three mins he came over to say our mains were ready. Did we want them. We were like, Christ we’ve only just sat down! But we didn’t want the mains to go cold as they were already on the trolley so we said ok. Next thing the waiter plonks down three tikka masalas and then starts rifling through my husbands biriani with a spoon like he had spotted a bug or something!!!! After a few mins he said something to the other waiter who said no no give it and then he placed the plate in front of my hubby!!! As soon as we had started to serve our dishes up he leant over and scooped the plates away, like he wanted us to hurry up. The food was horrible and no meat in the keema Nan. I went to the till and asked for the bill. Got it immediately like they had somewhere else to be. I checked they hadn’t included a tip and for the first time in 40 years I didn’t leave a tip!!! I was so embarrassed that I had bigged up this place to my sons friend and now I felt like a mug! I will never ever set foot in there again and will deter as many people as I can to spend a penny of their hard earned cash in such a poor, badly run, mis managed, rudely staffed place! Please somebody buy them out and bring Ganges back to the place we used to love. What a waste of a beautiful setting! DISGUSTING!!! Ps to be honest it’s a shame you’re not allowed to go lower than one star on the review cos it doesn’t deserve any!!!

Ordered a delivery from here and what an absolute joke, the food was over an hour late, when the food arrived it was luke warm, the onion bhaji’s was very greasy and the popadoms was chewy and soggy, I requested a refund and only got a partial refund, definitely won’t be ordering food from here again

Hubby had the buffet which has a really big selection of starters, mains and desert for £14.95 - brilliant value. I am vegan and there was no problem at all getting a curry and when they brought out the poppadoms they didn't bring the mint sauce and explained that its not vegan so they do know their stuff. The staff are friendly and professional and seem happy at work. Good atmosphere in the restaurant and the views over the harbour make it a great experience

Ate here as a group of three. I'll start with the positives. Food was very tasty and arrived quickly. The popadums could have been better as they were not as fresh as they should have been. After we had finished our main course we were ignored. Trying to catch the waiter's eye was very difficult as all three members of staff managed to avoid eye contact with our table. Asked for the dessert menu and it never came. Asked again and ordered three coffees only to be told that the waiter would have to check the machine to see if it was working. Eventually got our coffee and paid. I felt that the waiter serving us was rather surly and disinterested.

So pleased that the Ganges is once again offering a fabulous Sunday Buffett at a very competitive price. 3-course lunch with wine for £25, including a hefty and well-deserved tip. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive and professional, the view over the harbour is superb. The Lamb Curry was outstanding at any price. Definitely going to be a regular experience for us.

Started with a salad plate,fresh and cold, great variety with many wonderful dressings to choose from. Starters, again very yummy. The curries and pilau rice were extremely tasty. Curries included lamb, chicken, chick pea and potato, clever use of spices, and a delicious taste. Deserts, to include creme brulee, rice pudding, cake and trifle. The staff were polite, pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is clean and the view amazing across the harbour front Great value for money. Strongly recommend!

My wife and I had a lovely curry last week, the food and service was was perfect, we had a table overlooking the harbour which is possible the best view in town. We eat regularly at Ganges and have never been disappointed with any aspects of the restaurant.

Not just eat just wonderful, the food, service and location is just perfect to enjoy possible the best curry in town. my wife and I eat at Ganges quite often and we never get disappointed with the quality of the food and the service of the friendly staff.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times and always enjoy it. We ate there again recently and again all 4 meals ordered were delicious. They have a good menu choice, attentive, friendly staff; the restaurant is clean, warm and welcoming with beautiful harbour views. I would happily recommend this restaurant.

Great food as always. Best Indian restaurant around and would highly recommend. If you want more spicy food be sure to tell them first and they can cater to your taste.

Went there for Sunday Buffet recently as a family, food and service were both amazing and staff was very accommodating to any requests. It has to be noted that it was full when we arrived so i was mentally prepared for a wait. We always order a load of starters and mains and share between us and we were all impressed with the flavours. It's not the usual sour and spicy mush you get at the curry house. I could actually taste different ingredients and even my kids were loving it. When you add the great views from the restaurant , it all becomes a great experience So, overall it was excellent and we were even treated to some free naans, which were fresh and lovely, as we had waited patiently. The service was very slow and Food was Tepid. Asked 3 times for a glass of water to accompany our wine. Had to wait 30 mins to order food and wait 1hr 30 mins to get our main for two people. Mains looked like they had been sitting waiting to be put out, and only came out when we complained. Disappointed as used to go here regularly.

Fantastic food on a Sunday buffet, would have given 5 stars if there was a little more choice. However the food on offer was absolutely fantastic, tasty, hot and plentiful, but had no tandoori dishes - that's my only moan! If I could give 4.5 out of 5 then I would. Definitely recommended, and will definitely return. Staff were great too!

No shortage of completion in the area but we decided to go for Ganges. We were not disappointed! Location+view - we got a table by the window overlooking the marina. Superb. The restaurant is spacious and airy. Food - there is an extensive menu. Having just read the Jay Raynor article on how to choose a new restaurant this is a positive. We chose 4 mains with 2 rice and 2 naan. All were excellent. A perfect blend of spice and heat. Of particular note was the okra dish. I've often been underwhelmed by these but this was excellent. Service - quick, efficient and friendly. The restaurant was busy but not manic. Appeared to only have 3 waiting staff but service was great.

Been here twice now. The first time was terrible. The food was bland and expensive. The service was non-existent. I have recently gone again in the hope that the first time was a one off. Unfortunately it wasn't. It was just as bad. There are better places to eat around the harbour. Not worth the visit Unfortunately as the location is lovely

The whole experience was awful, the service was shocking the waiter was nothing but obnoxious and very patronising. We waited almost 1 hour before our starter was served, when we we asked how long for our dinner the waiter said the longer you wait the more you eat and don’t worry ask her for a discount on the bill. Not really what you expect to hear. Then the food was so bland and nothing special. We decided not to complain as it it had taken another 20 minutes and three requests to get our bill we decided if we challenged anything we’d be eating our breakfast there as well! I must add the female member of staff was there only saving grace as she actually was nice. I would not recommend this restaurant and was so disappointed after waiting so long to go there. Even as we walked I sen another family with a young child waiting and looking very frustrated.
