Gandom in Brighton and Hove

The best Iranian restaurant, which I've ever been in the UK, lovely atmosphere, unique food, and freindly stuff. They made our weekend. I highly recommend to trying

Three hungry office workers on the hunt for a satisfying lunch, stumbled upon this spot. We went for the lamb wraps, each packed with juicy, flavorful meat and wrapped to perfection. The choice of chilli 🌶️ or garlic sauce on the side was a nice touch, adding just the right amount of heat or creaminess. Other options included chicken and halloumi, but lamb was the winner today. Ordering by phone was a breeze, and our food was ready for collection in just 15 minutes—ideal for a quick lunch break. At £6.95 each, it was well worth it. Fast, delicious, and satisfying—definitely a place to revisit!

It'd be nice to find some honest people these days in this world. All the positive review s here are either fake or don't know what's good food?!?! One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Firstly, I nearly vomited 🤮 before I finished the koobideh, I looked at it & it looked "different" than normal lamb, I thought they just cooked it different but as I started eating, the "texture" wasn't quite like lamb, perhaps mixed with "something" or not even lamb?? plus they'd added some chilli or sth spicy which is not generally done (I guess to mask the flavour). It's not my first time eating koobideh & I think after 50 years, I know what's good kebab or not. Secondly, waited about 45 minutes. He must have been watching us because we were about to leave & he rushed over & asked "how would you like your fillet cooked!! 😅 I've never heard this ever in an Iranian restaurant. It was overcooked at the end anyways, chewy & hard plus had a lamb fat smell which Iranians normally add turmeric to the away the fatty smell of lamb. It smelt on our hands all evening despite washing our hands a few times. The guy serving there was on his own there & I felt his attitude wasn't exactly polite. Anyhow,I forced myself to eat the food as to not upset my friend as we're on holiday here but near the end, I started gagging & had to force myself to not throw up. The waiter guy wasn't there but he rushed over & looked guilty & offered me free tea. Didn't even ask if I was ok. He brought the tea & was teabag in a teapot! Iranians brew proper tea leaves, at least in restaurant. After that, he brought the machine to charge us & quickly ripped off the receipt & didn't hand it to us as normal waiters do... I guess to hide proof we've been there. So we paid £40 to become nauseous. both me & my companion felt uneasy, kept belching the lamb up all night & he ruined our last evening on holiday. We were so happy to go out for a meal but feel we've been scammed plus upset stomach & completely left us with a bad feeling. Thank you very much.

My friend and I came to have dinner one day after work and we sat there for such a long time. The owner is such a kind and hospitable guy and he brought us tea in the end. The food quality was amazing.

We visited Gandom this evening after travelling from Worthing. A lovely family run business with delicious food and outstanding service! The waitress was very friendly with my kids, giving them free ice cream and then lollipops for the journey back. Highly recommended if you are looking for authentic Persian food with a warm welcome!

My partner and I (who is Persian) visited Gandom restaurant tonight & everything was just wonderful! We were made to feel welcome, the lady who took our order & looked after us was so polite and friendly. The restaurant itself was clean (including the toilets) with lovely decor inside the restaurant and the atmosphere was great, playing Persian music too. Obviously the main thing to review here is the food- it was honestly amazing! We had hummus & bread, ghormeh sabzi & chicken & lamb koobideh which we both shared between us- we finished it all because it was beautiful, the meat was great quality and tasting. Would highly recommend.. we couldn’t fit in any baklava although I wished we had!

Picked this place at last minute for a birthday based only on the rating. SO glad I did. Food was lovely, wine was great and the service was so attentive. The prices were incredibly reasonable and service charge was entirely voluntary- which meant I gave the most I could. Would absolutely go again!

Absolutely lovely food, ambience and experience. I truly believe you can feel when food is prepared with love and you can feel it and taste it here. The table team are super attentive too and there are big smiles beaming through the space. We came for a Valentines meal and we both came across a precious gem by chance. Will be coming back for sure. Top tip…if there is something you specifically want to experience on the menu and it’s not advertised, ring up and ask.

The food was pretty good (my husband is Iranian) and about the same standard as Shiraz next door but the service was truly diabolical. The restaurant wasn't rhya busy, but we waited over 1.5 hours to get any food. The whole meal took a really long time. So I only recommend if you aren't in a hurry.

I had the gheymeh bademjan, kashke bademjan, and some fresh, tasty bread – everything was incredible. The customer service was amazing; the staff were super kind and even gave me a free yoghurt to try. Such a lovely experience. I’ll definitely be returning 100%!

This place has become one of my favorite places in Brighton. Nice people and good food. I have never seen such hospitality. About the owner (Mansour and his wife): nice, patient, professional and flexible. They always do their best and the most important thing for them is happiness and the smile of the customer. Beautiful decor, wonderful food and friendly staff and owner. I’ve never felt so welcomed in a restaurant before. This has been an incredible dining experience. Meat was so juicy and food were freshly made. Will bring my family and friends back here.

I went to Gandom with my family tonight, and I must say that the food and service were exceptional. The service was amazing, and everyone went above and beyond. We celebrated our brother's birthday today and they celebrated the occasion with us. This is a proper family place and I would recommend this place.

A staple reliable place for yummy food and spacious but cosy atmosphere. Always enjoy my time here. The koobideh and joojeh and lamb shank dishes never disappoint. If I’m ever stuck on where to go for decent lunch with good atmosphere - I’ll choose Gandom hove.

Heading back from our holiday trip we decided it to stop by Gandom. We were greeted by the staff on our arrival, food was delicious, atmosphere was friendly and service was excellent. We highly recommend this resturant.

One of my friends works there and explains that the manager of the restaurant uses pork instead of beef and mutton and even uses the skin and inside of the chicken belly for pounded kebabs to make it cheaper for him and uses all the stews frozen. For example, for six months, he makes a stew of vegetables or minced meat and packs it in the freezer and then uses it daily. I wanted to inform my friends, be careful, you might get sick. I hope for health and happiness dear Iranians living in you.🌹🌹🌹

Rubbish food I have had today, Kobideh was too oily and chicken kebab was dry and no taste at all. Don't waste your money and time there. Today, my experience of eating food in this restaurant was awful, the ground kebab and the dry grilled chicken were only seasoned with turmeric. The busiest Iranian restaurant in England

The food is INCREDIBLE! I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Iranian food. I absolutely love the gormeh sabzi and grilled meats. The khashk bademjan and fresh bread is the best I’ve tried in Brighton and Hove!! Their home made garlic sauce is incredible , make sure to ask for it along side your grilled kebab. The portion sizes are generous and the presentation of the food is beautiful. There are options on the menu for everyone - kids, vegetarians, pescatarians and those who are on a diet! The restaurant is a family run business with amazing service and super friendly staff. The atmosphere and decor is perfect. I cannot recommend gandom enough, I always leave the restaurant feeling satisfied and a very happy customer 🥰

Amazing overall experience and service. The food was great, and the server was very kind and made you feel at home. The chicken skewer shows some amazing cooking skills. The meat is well seasoned and marinated, juicy, and still such crispy skin.

I had one koobideh and one chicken kebab, all of which were well cooked and excellent. The restaurant's proprietor behaved in a very polite and professional manner. He was very courteous.

Had the most enjoyable experience tonight! The place has a wonderful warm atmosphere. They are dog friendly, and helped us (2 adults and 2 dogs) settle in nicely. Quick service, delicious cheese. At the end, offered us extra mints for free! Highly recommend it.

A very pleasant surprise. Everything was perfect; the kebab was very succulent, and the bastani in particular was just incredible.

I had lunch here by chance as I spotted the very inviting lunch offers on the placard outside. Persian food is usually very tasty and well presented and this food was certainly so. The reception given makes you feel very welcome and the background music lends to the sense of authenticity. The chicken and koobideh was delicious and I washed it down with the yoghurt/mint drink “Doogh” which was perfect. All this for an extremely reasonable cost. I have to say thank you very much for helping finish my holiday on a very high note!

I am a huge fan of Persian food and I have tried almost all restaurents in town and surrounding areas. We had planned to go Shiraz which is next door to Gandom but them being busy couldn’t land us a table in time. So we decided to come to this Restaurent. My first impression was like cool. It’s still Persian and how bad can it really be? As a fussy eater I want my food to be perfectly cooked. Anyways long story short we placed an order of Some Kobbidah and chicken and Lamb grill items and hoping for the best. Remember 4 Lads starving after long session in Brighton boozed up. Well food arrives and everything looked so beautiful and well presented. Each bite of every item was delicious and amazing. The smell was so awesome and it’s one of the best in Brighton if not The best without any doubt. The food is seriously good. It’s a must go place.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
