Excellent food at very reasonable prices. I had the fish and chips one day and scampi the next, and both were delicious. The menu is very impressive and varied, considering the island location. Wash your meal down with a pint of the Isle of Eigg ale, it's smooth, tasty and full of flavour. (You can visit the brewery, which is located in the centre of the island). The cakes in the cafe are fresh and tasty too, and service to your table is quick and friendly. Enjoy the views over Castle Island while you eat or, if the weather permits, sit outside and take in the fresh sea air. Special shout out to Neil, who was friendly and efficient, and the whole team there has put together a fabulous bar /restaurant operation, the only one on the island. The coffee is excellent too. I can't wait to load my bicycle on to the train to Mallaig again, and return to this amazing island, where my first stop will again be the Galmisdale Bay cafe and bar. A pint of the Isle of Eigg ale please, Neil!

Open morning noon and evening which is handy if the weather is inclement. Good vegan/vegetarian options. A great selection for a small bistro. Tasty food and friendly staff. Particularly helpful South African lady there at the moment. Wonderful view of Rum especially in the sunshine which we were lucky enough to to experience.

Echoing what many here have said, we found the staff, the sweeping view and the food -- breakfast and afternoon tea as well as dinner -- just wonderful. You can't go wrong with the fish and chips or the sweet, tender mussels. The cafe sits front and center on the harbor waterfront, a short walk from the ferry pier, a public service to all comers on this island full of spirit and beauty but few amenities. Feis Eige, a traditional music festival was going on when we were there, and the visiting musicians played around the table, a treat for us diners. (They also gave traditional music classes and with when we there. Next to the cafe is a small market for provisioners and a brand new wash house with showers for the many campers and sailors who visit. But what we most appreciated and want to highlight is the cafe staff. When a bundle of cash accidently slipped out of my wallet in the bath house -- it was all we had for a two-month trip -- the staff found me and returned it. And when CalMac, the ferry service everyone relies on to go anywhere off-island, abruptly cancelled Eigg passengers to accommodate a cruise ship in Mallaig, the staff outdid themselves helping stranded passengers. This is what makes Eigg and its people special in the world. Never change!

We sailed to Eigg and ended up having breakfast, lunch and late lunch here - We just couldn't stay away! Great food with veggie and vegan options. Lovely cakes. Great service. And just stunning location, especially in the blazing sun with a terrace looking South to Ardnamurchan peninsula. Or you could get the same view from inside. Great that they served alcohol too. Just a shame it shut about 5pm.

We visited Eigg on a drizzly day and walked for a couple of hours in zero visibility. As we had a few hours to wait for the ferry(which never arrived!), we popped in for some food and shelter to the cafe. The food, and service was excellent and there was a surprisingly wide selection of items on the menu. The establishment is pet friendly and very human friendly. I would recommend a visit to anyone who is visiting the island.

Had time after our bike ride and before our ferry departed to sample the delights of the cafe. Great menu selection, whether you wanted just a snack or a full meal. By next year there will be a new and larger cafe, shop and toilet facilities. Will look forward to our next visit to sample more of the food and ambiance.

I popped into the cafe to get some takeaway rolls after collecting our bikes from Eigg Advtures next door for our trip to the Singing Sands beach. They were very accommodating, halved the children’s rolls and wrapped the brownies & flapjacks (yummy!) up. The star of the lunch was the prawn roll - we were wishing we’d ordered an extra one! Would definitely recommend! Thank you!

The food here is great - probably the best beef burger and chicken burger we've had perhaps ever, and the beers are great too. I wouldn't come back though because of the drunk locals at the front. After making a really harmless comment about the massively drunk bloke that got in a car to drive home ("it's all downhill I hope") I was asked if I had a problem with it and then told that I should go and stay somewhere else. A couple of others later tried to take the p*#s and persuade me that one of them was the harbour master. So despite some really friendly locals that I did speak to and the great service at the restaurant I really won't come back to Eigg. Not a friendly place.

Our third visit to Eigg and we always have at least one meal at the cafe. The chips here are the best I’ve ever had; big chunky wedge chips. I had a lovely vegetarian meal and I am sure they would cater for vegan if asked in advance. My husband was very happy with his fish and chips. The cakes are delicious too. You will also get an insight into local life as there are usually a group of the friendly locals around having a drink. Love this place.

I was staying on Eigg a couple of nights so on arriving while the day visitors headed off I headed round to pitch my tent and then returned to the cafe for lunch. All the tables outside were full but there were more tables round the back. Pleasant service, good food and I later realised dogs were allowed inside so on the following visit when the weather wasn't quite so good I sat inside with my dog. Evening meals are done most evenings, but not all so check in advance, and require pre-booking. Definitely a handy place to have when staying on the island.

This cafe is right by the ferry slip and beside the two shops (food and craft). The island only has a small population but gets quite a lot of day visitors on the ferry or on other boats and others that stay a few days, so the cafe and shops do good business. We’d been for a walk and stopped here to rest before our pick up. This is the Eigg’s pub, café and all round community hub, with a good array of hearty pub grub served in huge portions. Their chips are more like skin-on potato wedges, but very yummy. Fish and chips is a massive plateful, and they do great homemade burgers, veggie/vegan burgers and veggie lasagne too. Good cakes, hot tea, and the locally brewed Laig Bay Pale Ale on tap. A great view across to Castle Island at the back. It was a good sandwich, but £3.10 is pushing it...Regardless, this is a great central point for locals and tourists and there’s a bar and evening meals too. The cafe cum pub is a bit basic but better than many that I have encountered whilst travelling the Scottish islands. Service is quick and the food is tasty. the menu is rather limited but what would you expect on such a remote island? When you roll off the ferry head straight in and order a cuppa and a slice of whatever cake the landlord's mother has cooked. Don't let the slightly intimidating locals having a tipple or two outside the cafe put you off - talk to any of them and they're cool and willing to help the newly startled and overwhelmed visitor safer the crossing. This mini complex of shop, info station, kit (bikes and kayaks) hire, post office and convenience store forms the hub of the Eigg community, a very special community indeed. The cafe has a separate daytime and evening menu and all the food is great. We ate here severely times (breakfast, lunches, tea and cakes and dinner) and the prices were frankly, lower than expected. I don't see many reasons to cook for yourself whilst in the island unless you're clever enough to have caught or foraged your own grub. Don't bring food into the island or sit outside on their benches eating your own. Support this community and they'll return the respect with interest. Also, the myriad of old and new paths and faded and poorly maintained way markings can be confusing to the uninitiated. Bear with it. Two days and you'll know your stuff of you make the effort.

We had an evening meal and it was out of this world. If food of this standard was served up at the best restaurants in Edinburgh and Glasgow it would not be out of place. Great for any kind of meal, wonderful service and a personal feel :3 Would very much recommend. All food is handmade despite the tiny island and it being the only cafe

Here in the cafe Bar at the moment. Just had the most fabulous fish, scampi and chips ever. Staff and service wonderful and an all round fab experience. The view from the window is breathtaking. Visting the isle of eigg for the first time and will be back. Will be telling all our family and friends about our trip to the island and of the fantastic galmisdale cafe. Great celtic music session too on the friday night and yummy cakes.

This cafe/ bar/ restaurant is just opposite the CalMac Ferry port and is part of the wee hub of grocers shop, craft shop and the cafe. The decor is simple and informal; the view out the windows over the sea is fab. It's counter service during the day and in the evening at the weekend, and friendly table service on the nights they do the restaurant menu (Monday to Wednesday/Thursday? This seems to change). We ate here 3 times during our stay. The kitchen take real care over the food they serve. For breakfast, we had wonderful hot rolls: one sausage and one bacon, made with delicious homemade rolls. One night we had the restaurant menu and a really tasty seafood medley, stuffed full of local seafood and flavour. The other night we had the bar meals menu, fish and chips- what's not to like? It's worth checking out their facebook page for pictures of their lovely food and up to date menus.I'd definitely go back again if it were closer to home.

I used to love spending time in the tearoom on Eigg however this time I was shocked at the prices and to be frank the quality of the food! We ordered Veggie burgers and my husband described it as cat puke. I tried layering it with tomato ketchup but it turned it into soup. I tried dipping my chips in it but it just wasn't very pleasant. I enjoy the owners company but he seems to have given up the dream of creating a place talked about for its culinary originality and decided to charge loads for terrible food instead.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

Stopped for the night while doing the NC500 with my husband and 8 + 9 year old kids, one of the only places in Thurso that you can have a sit down meal! Absolutely delicious meal, got the chicken Ceylon roll as a starter and it came out piping hot and so fresh!! The flavours were absolutely amazing! My husband had the medium spice chicken Ceylon curry and said it was amazing, the flavours and spices were absolutely spot on! I had the mild beef Ceylon curry and it was equally as good! All cooked fresh to order and you can tell as it was piping hot and so fresh to taste! There is a children’s menu for the fussier eaters, my daughter had spaghetti and my son had a burger and there was no complaints from them! Our first time trying Sri Lanka food and won’t be our last thanks to this restaurant! Staff are delightful as well☺️
