Not impressed with the fish. Very small portion of very non descriptive fish covered in far too much crispy batter. At £16.50 was very over-priced. Seems like chef (cook) does not take pride on their dishes. Would definitely not eat here again. Would not recommend.

The Gallery Restaurant has a delightful ambiance: calm, and with contemporary feel and decor. The food is exceptionally good, with very professional and friendly service. Thank you all, and congratulations to the chef, Tom Lugg. (The breakfast chef also does yummy poached eggs to perfection.) Below I say this is "mid-range", but in my estimation my dinner was closer to "fine dining".

Stayed for four nights at the hotel and the food was excellent and well presented. A reasonable choice of menu items for evening dinner and also a good choice at breakfast..

We were staying in the hotel and thought we would try this restaurant out of convenience. On our night, there was no a la carte menu, and the minimum was £21 for 2 courses. Let's be honest, this isn't fine dining. It's a large open-plan room were the breakfast buffet is held each morning, and the cheap wooden furniture and paper tablecloths and napkins is not a great ambience. The serving staff were attentive and friendly. Our main courses (fish) were both fine but rather uninspired. Nothing too fancy or clever, but decent enough. The vegetables that accompanied them however were dreadful - a small dish of boiled, unseasoned vegetables that would be easy to beat at home. Our desserts were delicious but they weren't quite enough to save the meal. Our bill was close to £60 and we felt the experience and food didn't match that price. There seem to be several bistros and restaurants in Tiverton that could serve you better food in a better ambience for less money. It wasn't horrendous and there was nothing inedible. Just overpriced and a rather mediocre setting.

We were part of a party of about 25 people. We all ate at the same time and the food was served promptly and efficiently. It's not haute cuisine, but doesn't pretend to be. It's just good honest food. The helpings of potatoes and vegetables were a bit excessive, but that was their problem. They could save a bit of money and reduce wastage with more attention to portion control without in any was affecting the dining experience.

The impression I got from the a la carte menu in my hotel room was that my dinner was going to be very pricey. However on arriving in the restaurant was delighted to find a set menu offering 1.2 or 3 courses at a more reasonable price. I ordered roast topside of beef which came with vegetables & the traditional Yorkshire pud. The portion of beef was delicious & VERY generous.I followed up with a passion fruit bavarois. The staff were helpful & friendly without being intrusive.

We ate in the restaurant two nights running. On the first night we had the choice of a la carte or a special Christmas menu and chose the former. Service was quick and efficient and my venison steak was tasty but a bit tough. My wife had a small whole chicken which we think was deep fried but was OK rather than memorable. Average cost per main meal £16 On the second night we found out we could also choose the bar menu specials and still dine in the relative quiet of the restaurant. Service again was quick and efficient. I had a tasty burger and my wife poached smoked haddock which she really enjoyed. Average cost per main meal £10. Overall we thought the restaurant prices expensive for the quality of the food but the bar prices realistic and good value for money.

Plenty of tables, well presented. Nice staff, attentive and efficient but low key. Food was delicious. Lovely meal of three courses was less than £25 with local beer. Breakfast is also served in the restaurant and was fine apart from the scrambled egg which was like semolina in texture. Very pleasant.

Keepers Cottage never fails to impress, especially when it comes to comfort food. Their steak and ale pie is a standout—packed with tender meat, rich gravy, and a perfectly flaky crust. The portions are always generous, and the sides are just as satisfying. It’s a place that consistently delivers on flavour, making it easy to see why it was such a favourite of mine when I lived nearby. Definitely a spot worth revisiting!

Quite hard to rate this tbh. Despite the lowest rating I would stay again. The pub itself is excellent with excellent well kept ale and a nice atmosphere. The accommodation was a little more hit and miss. The room itself was absolutely fine, warm a good size and we were shown how to use the thermostat. Lights were subtle and pleasant though one side light didn't work, but equally it is cheap and affordable. Not enough towels provided, but on request we got more of these. No coffee in the shared kitchen and the WiFi was patchy to say the least. The boiler makes a low humming at night, so if like me these things bother you, worth investing in earplugs, but it didn't bother the rest of the family. However these are all fairly minor details and not something which bothers me overly with cheaper accommodation like this. The main issue was being locked out of the rooms on the evening of Christmas day alongside the other residents staying at the same time. That was pretty poor, but we did get it rectified fairly quickly; within about 45 minutes, it did help having local connections here as the other residents had been waiting an additional 30 minutes at least and had no such luck. Tbh makes an amusing story at least.
