GAIL's Bakery King's Road in Kensington and Chelsea

Pastries were yummy 5/5. 1/5 for the horrible service! 1st, they got my order wrong and then they charged me more for more stuff and I asked for a refund. Can’t comprehend the service their! What a shame. Never coming back.

The cutest bakery with the best staff! ESPECIALLY Lucas who makes the best coffee and is always soo lovely to me and my little one, and Shauib. Such great customer service and my day is always made when I go in there 🌟

This is a lovely place to come. Not only is the coffee delicious the service is exceptional. I would like to especially commend Maria for her outstanding customer service and encouraging me to download the Gail’s app which resulted in a free coffee which was even more special and brightened up my day! Yesterday, around 5:00 pm, I went with my friend to have a coffee, but mainly to sit down because I am nine months pregnant. We went in, and a couple was ordering, so my friend and I sat at the only available table because I really needed to sit for a minute. But immediately, the cashier started telling us that the table was for the people who were ordering. The table was empty; their things weren’t there, and I asked him, "But why?" He said, "They’re ordering first and then they’ll sit down." I was going to tell him that I needed to sit for a second because of my pregnancy, but he didn’t let me explain. He told me it wasn’t fair for me to sit and gave me a terrible look. We left the place and decided to find another one—there are plenty of cafés. I really wanted to try that one and sit down for a second, but that man was too rude. I felt like crying.

seems that the kings road branch is getting a lot one star reviews. The does not work properly and the manager says that of the stamp is so important to me that I have to go on line and try to contact the company to redeem it because a lot of people try to scam the company. I have no idea what type of training these managers get.... but they seem incompetent rude and certainly don't care about the company they work for... plenty of other places on kings road that inveset in training there managers ... never again... and one extra 1 star review

Amazing food and coffee and very kind helpful staff. Love the flourless chocolate cake!! I recently lost my flat keys and the staff at Gail’s helped me so much, let me use their phone and we’re all very kind to me. Lucia was super helpful and even gave me free coffee as I was very stressed. Very human, lovely people and great customer service. Everything at Gail’s is delicious, so worth it!!

The moment you step through the door, you're greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods and the welcoming smile of this young gentleman, whom I believe to be the person in charge due to his distinguished red polo. His respectful and loving demeanour makes every visit special, transforming a simple bakery trip into a heartwarming experience. Unfortunately, I twisted my ankle a few days ago, and had to use scratches. One day I walked inside the bakery with my scratches barely standing well when he noticed me struggling. He came straight to me asking those in front if it was ok to serve me first due to my situation. That gesture of care warmed my heart so much it made my entire week, not only he had saved me from a long stand on one foot, but he also offered me his own Gails tote bag to facilitate me carrying the bread, as I wasn't able to carry the bag and use the scratches. Thank you for your care and treatment.

The best coffee and the best barista ( Angie) in town !!!

I went to Gail’s at the corner of Oakley street and 209 Kings road . What a lovely place and what makes it so amazing is the staff. I have to give a big shout to Lucia I had a long day wanted a good cup of coffee and the way Lucia went out of her way to make the best cup of coffee for me was amazing. It was busy but yet she made time .what a lovely lady. Also Pouria her colleague was so nice and kind and packed everything so well. The rose cake/pecans cake and soho buns were so delicious. Ciara was very kind. It was very busy but they make time to take care of everyone. This Gail’s is always bustling with people coming in and out and after reading other reviews , I have to somewhat agree with most of them regarding some of the staff. However, Anita is a breath of fresh air! She is friendly, patient and has excellent customer service skills. She is attentive to everyone and nothing is ever too much hassle. She is an asset to Gail’s!

As with all Gails shops in Fulham and Chelsea it is a delight to visit. You cannot beat the smell of freshly baked bread, along with the pastries and cakes you can never walk out without being tempted to buy more than the loaf you went in for.

Popped in to buy hot cross buns, they were still warm when they gave them to me. Probably one of best hcb I’ve had!

your usual gail's- only 2 stars because i keep getting charged random amounts that do not match the displayed prices. differences are small, but it's just annoying. also sometimes i get charged the eating in fee, yet they put it in a takeout bag (as it is takeout, which i mentioned when ordering)

Not recommended especially for Asian. One of the staff, white lady with short haircut is racist. She didn’t try to offer her help only to me. Other staff are nice though.

My favorite bakery in London. Of course not just this branch. Great selection of everything your heart desires. The sandwiches are also excellent. The coffee is pretty good too. Would especially like to mention the baguette.

The guy running this Gail’s is a terrible advert for the brand and a great way of making sure you never want to come again. He was unnecessarily and deliberately slow to serve anyone and could not be more unfriendly. He What a pity.

Cute place, with a variety of pastries, whether you’re craving a savory pastry or a sweet one, you’ll find what you want here. The staff are nice and patient with the orders of every customer. Seating area is kind of small. Hygiene of the cutlery/tables/seats needs to be improved. I recommend you grab what you want with disposable cups/bags and go.

Good quiches etc but no way to reheat them (neither microwave nor oven) what a shame

This was a terrible customer service experience. I visited Gail’s on Kings Road on December 15th and I still have a bad impression. The girl who worked as a barista in the morning was rude and very ill-mannered. She made me say my name 5-7 times and pretended she didn't understand what I was talking about. She said: “How? Karen? when I tried to make it simpler and said Helen for her. And I'm not even Asian to feel like my name is so hard to pronounce. This is London, one of the most international cities. If she can't adapt, then perhaps she would be better off working somewhere in the countryside. Why play like this for fun and make people feel uncomfortable? And this was at the expense of the queue of other customers who were waiting behind me. And after that she gave me a mince pie with a hole and got angry when I asked her to give me another one.

If you like being in a nightclub with rude staff first thing in the morning - then this is the place for you.

Over priced food and nothing special. Gail's is all about style over substance and the atmosphere is poor. You don't sell drinks like Coke, presumably because of the 'image' which is a mistake Won't go back!

It’s a nice place to hang out to have a quick cuppa and some afternoon sweet treat fix. Service is quick in terms of serving the coffee and there are lots of choices to eat. However the staff may need to smile and be a bit more friendly. Hence the 3 stars.

Had a tea and croissant in Gail’s in the Kings Road. Not a good experience, grubby, staff all chatting to each other then to top it all I had a bad reaction to the croissant, I have a sensitivity to Bicarbonate of soda and usually fine with croissants but Gail’s must be adding it as I’m still feeling awful. Have looked online for and ingredients list but can’t find anything on their website! Only list main allergens! So many of us are allergic or sensitive to many things. Absolutely awful! Avoid if you have allergies!

Wish I could answer under some reviews regarding the customer service. Unhappy staff quite clearly. On a Sunday? Never again, and have to agree with reviews mentioning service when getting the coffees don’t you dare asking for a napkin or spoon you were not given at the till because the answer gets worse and worse. If they are tired of people asking the same thing over and over again, get some extra items next to the lids not really a rocket science is it?!? It is a tiny place barely a person fits in the corridor, leave alone going back to the till when is packed with people sat, standing ordering. Didn’t even bother to go back when I notice was given latte instead of cappuccino.

I understand how it is working a customer facing job in an unpleasant environment (this shop is small and hot), especially while it's busy hours but this is hospitality after all. I ordered an Iced Black with sugar in the shot, team member (curly haired girl) was very nice and sweet, while the barista (dark haired bearded guy) informed me that there're sugar packets at the self service station. I said yes but I'd like it to be melted in the shot, since mine's an iced drink. I don't know how much experience he's had on coffees but sugar doesn't tend to melt properly within the 2x seconds extraction time, sitting there without stirring. So when he poured, I could see that most of the sugar was still at a bottom of the shot glass. It would only take you a few seconds to stir the sugar/syrup then it's next level service, why not? I guess the takeaway of the story is that - Gail's, you need to put more people on the shift when it's busy.

I don't enjoy bad reviews but this gails is the worst I've ever experienced. I ordered a yoghurt and at the till they did not give me a spoon, so I kindly ask for one when I was receiving my coffee, the person refused to give me one and said "TILL!"...so everyone here is in a really bad mood, I will assume awful management team. The person who gave me the spoon touched it all right after touching a cloth with a cleaning liquid... Extra fewer stars because of the heat inside the place.

The coffee is great most of the time, and the highlight is being served by Mauwa - such a pleasant presence.

They never have sausage rolls ready in morning 06/08/23 09:00. Each time nonsense excuses, working class people don't eat cake early in the morning they eat sausage rolls. Very disappointed, 9 out of 10 visits they don't have them ready.

Uns wurde gesagt es sei "lovely". Naja, warme Speisen alle ausverkauft und der Tee schmeckt nach kaum etwas, solange man keine Unmengen an Milch zugibt. Dazu kommt eine sehr enge Szenerie. Ich sitze gerade mit dem Rücken am Hinterteil eines wartenden Kunden. Allerdings waren die Preise akzeptabel, daher 2 Sterne.

As a family we go to Gail’s- not only for the food and delicious coffee but as our 3 year old son, Harry loves seeing Fabrizio. Fabrizio has known Harry since he was 1 year old and the two of them have a great bond. Fabrizio couldn’t be nicer and more welcoming - he makes an awesome coffee as well.

I've been meaning to write about the King's road branch for months now. Gail's King's road is my neighborhood bakery and I have been going there since it opened! Its great to know so many familiar faces! From Helen to Frederico, to Marwa to Stephanie (who is now on Mat leave) to Fabrizio to Lucas and Mikal! Yes, I know the names of most of the king's road team !! I have been coming to gails since it opened and I've made friends with the team along the way. I just want to say how great they have been. Knowing my order everytime I come in with my husband and processing it without even saying what I want is a testament to how great the team is there. Fabrizio's coffee is the best coffee I have tried. He is extremely loved by his team members and he is vary patient with the new baristas. He is polite and professional with customers and always has a smile on his face! I know that he spent time training Mikal and Stephanie to become senior/new baristas and I know he always wants to push his team because he wants to see them progress! Lucas is fantastic and Frederico is amazing! always smiling and welcoming! Marwa is great and has become super competent in her style and communication with the customers with a happy smile! Great team and great customer service.

I was on my way home and got there shortly before closing. Staff was friendly, and my bread was still available, so was happy. I do know that sometimes when it is busy it can take quite a while to get served. I spoke with the staff today and they said they are struggling to recruit, so in my opinion we should be happy to actually get served at all. However, it might be an idea to cut the menu down during the day. The lemon drizzle was very nice 😉

I wish there was more to the branch that could be a bit exciting. I dont like to compare to competitors or other companies but look at Joe & The Juice, yes most branches are the same. But at least when you walk into the store you feel theres a chill vibe to it, and stuff to look at.

I have been going into Gales for over a year, Anita I have found to be the most polite positive and very easy going lady she is extremely helpful to me and everyone that goes into Gails. The coffee and cakes are outstanding, Gail's is the only place I go to for my coffee and cake .

I’ve been to Gail’s MANY times but the Kings Road location takes the cake - literally. Not only were the food and coffee great but the staff were so kind and helpful. One staff member offered to help carry my food to the table and another fetched a chair for the couple sitting next to me - they go above and beyond!

I like Gail’s, but the experience here today was appalling. The barista was clearly stressed and busy, but the way he spoke to me was unacceptable. I asked where my coffee is were and he said that I need to wait my turn. I said I only asked because people are being served before me that ordered after me. He then muttered to me if I didn’t like it I could go somewhere else. When I asked for a refund,he clearly didn’t expect this answer and said he would make my coffee right away. Disgusting behaviour and no way to treat a customer. After all of that the coffee doesn’t even taste as good as it usually does.

First and last time I get in here. I’m sorry for the baker as their product is good but service is HORRIBLE. No “hello”, no “thank you”, we order to have in and got take away…We asked for a scone (that comes with cheese and jam advertised) and we didn’t get any, when asked they said “should have said it before”. Honestly, I can’t believe how they still have customers.

I was waiting for my order, but the two people who came in behind me took my order first. The black female clerk completely ignored me. Because of that memory, I can't remember the taste of the bread. London is full of good memories, but this place left a blemish. It was a very disappointing place.

Feel very disappointed. Today at 7 pm I walk in to the Kings road branch and Deliveroo driver was still there and I been told that they are close . I ask that I check the website and it’s meant to be open till 7.30pm. The answer was that not business today so they closing earlier. I never heard that especially from amazing company like for sure Gail’s is..

A good alternative for pastry filled with chemicals sold in supermarkets. I bought a loaf of bread at Gail's and it tasted like a bread, not like cotton-wool.

Salad "Freekeh, mushroom & roasted sweet potato" was literally with just 1 mushroom. Spicy, extremely salty, sweet all together. And mint hard straws everywhere.

Always good quality food. Love the breads, quite a good variety to choose from. Also love the lentils salad.

I stopped there on my way because it looked like a really nice bakery. I asked for recommendation, and I got the one that he suggested and it was yum! (3.5 pounds) Everything looked so nice and it seemed like they are always busy.

Early September I purchased your chicken sandwich to takeaway. Whilst eating it at home I found a bone within the meat (see photos). Thankfully I found it early enough before I swallowed it. I contacted your 'breadheads' email address and received a generic reply from Julia Ramil who said she had passed it onto the investigation team. Since then I have heard nothing and she has not bothered to reply to my follow up emails. This was potentially dangerous and I am appalled that you don't see it important to look into these incidents. You are my local cafe but I doubt I will visit again.

YUM YUM AND YUM. Had to stop myself to get a picture.😊 ⭐️A must visit⭐️ Very well located, you can find 3-4 bus stops. Located by The Ivy Asia in Chelsea (restaurant with green and red canapes); has limited seating but is very accessible. Staff was delightful, attentive and very caring. There is a great variety of sweet, savoury and classic items such as croissants, quiche(picture on display) and tarts. Prices are reasonable, but for money savers there’s a local off license by a bus stop about 2 minutes walk and a few other small shops. Gail’s bakery has many sites located all across London with yummy treats and a relaxed environment for students, a quick breakfast or some laptop work. Will visit a closer branch to me soon. 😊
