A wide range of lovely food to choose from, very helpful and friendly staff, delicious hot and iced coffees, tables outside under shady trees, great spot to chill and people watch. Would come here every day if I was a local - sadly not.

I have visited this restaurant on a few occasions. the food is nice. I am particularly concerned though about their policy of making their staff keep the doors open even in minus temperatures. One of the most important contributions that businesses as well as individuals can make towards combating climate change is to have effective insulation. The staff agreed with me, but said there was nothing they could do. This is frankly wrong and needs to be called out.

Terrible experience at Gail’s battersea , at 9am on a Thursday morning - not only did they say I couldn’t heat up my cold ham and cheese croissant due to a lame excuse of “covid 19” in January 2023 LOL but the girl actually walked to my table to tell me “my cappuccino was ready “ whilst it sat there in the counter behind her … like if you are going to walk to the table why wouldn’t you just deliver the coffee (if was in a take away cup ) what a joke 😂

I was recommended by a friend to visit for a Cream tea. The tea was lovely and refreshing, enough for 2 cups in the pot but I was very disappointed with the scones, overcooked, and the amount of cream and jam supplied for the scones was abysmal, 1 teaspoon full of cream and 1 teaspoonful of jam to divide between four halves of scone! Gail’s, you need to come down to Devon to see how it should be done !! £18 per person for 2 dry scones and pot of tea, I’m still trying to get over it. In Devon we would get this for £8 and it would be twice as tasty as what I have just been served by you. Rest assured me you won’t be serving me again.

We always stop at Gail’s whenever staying in Battersea; the location is very nice and coffee and breakfasts are decent. However, I have no idea why the table service outside has stopped. I don’t choose an outside table to have to go in after I’ve got a table and collect my order. On one occasion, there were 3 parts of the order that were ready separately; instead of bringing them to the table, the waitress came and shouted to us that it was ready. This happened 3 times and it doesn’t seem to make sense as a customer; it takes almost the same effort to come out and call that the order’s ready than it does to bring the order. Everywhere else in Battersea Square has table service, as Gail’s used to. Unless it’s reinstated, we’ll just end up going elsewhere!

I've always been a fan of Gail's Bakery but not sure if I will go back after my last experience. I ordered an oat milk latte and a Swiss chard and gruyere hand pie to have in, which came to £8.65!?!? I couldn't really read the prices of the pastries/pies as they are printed quite small but I didn't expect they could be more than £2/3. When I questioned the staff on the prices I was given a very frosty response and the price card waved in my face. My coffee came to around £3 because of the oat milk - fair enough. But, the hand pie was £5.20 because I had dined in. I should point out that this pie is really not very big and charging an extra £1.40 as a dine in fee seems pretty steep. To add to the whole experience, there was a woman in the cafe, who was clearly not very well, shouting and swearing to herself. None of the staff thought to ask if she was okay and proceeded to ignore her! Would not recommend.
