Amazing staff and beautiful food. Staff attended to my dad and I at 12 midnight and happily server us drinks throughout the night. Paul and Cameron were top lads and were a good chat at the bar! :-)

Visited for a birthday meal. From arrival to departure everything was perfect. The Grill is part of Gisborough Hall hotel and upon arrival we sat in front of the welcoming fire and had drinks and nibbles whilst we perused the menu. Orders were taken and after a short wait we ordered some more drinks before being shown to our table. The food was superb, chicken wings especially. Main courses were steaks and fish and chips. All very tasty and well presented. Portions were also very generous. We had puddings which were very good before we retired back to the main hall for more drinks. Service all night was excellent. Would recommend.

For something a bit less formal try, DeBrus Bar and Grill it really is an excellent place to just pop in and have a lovely meal. The bar is well stocked, champagne by the glass or bottle. Plenty of comfortable seating, great for a romantic meal for two. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff who are always happy to help with any special dietary requirements. We love it here as it’s so relaxed, great food, a full choice of steaks and fish dishes all cooked to perfection just the way we like. A special mention to Ryan who really looked after us and always has a welcoming smile. Looking forward to returning soon.

We dined here on Sunday evening as a couple. The food was amazing! We had three course included in our overnight stay and I struggled to finish each course! The chicken wings, burger and crème bru le were amazing and my husbands food (which of course I tried) was also well presented, tasty and the portion sizes were great! Great food if you are a fan of home comforts with style. We will definitely be returning. The staff, Ian and Marie, are very friendly and professional and could not do enough for us!

Bar and Grill at Gisborough Hall Hotel My wife and I were visiting relatives nearby and decided to try out the de Brus Bar and Grill in Gisborough Hall Hotel. We were glad we had booked as it was very busy for a Sunday evening. The waiting and bar staff were friendly and efficient, despite being rushed off their feet. I had the tomahawk pork steak and my wife had a chargrilled steak. Delicious. The menu was wide-ranging, including vegetarian options. The desserts looked very inviting but we resisted as we were both too full. We decided this was a great place to eat out and, although it was situated within a very grand building and grounds, the price was very reasonable.

We had lunch here in the bistro as a family of five. The food was all very well executed - the Scotch egg, the caesar salad, the steaks all beautifully done. We were looked after very well by the staff, and especially Ryan who made us feel very welcome and had a natural eye for detail. (It was so nice to see mature, professional staff which so often isn't the case at these kind of places). The bistro is modern and cosy, but we also enjoyed having a drink before our meal and coffees afterwards in the lounges. I'd really recommend it and would love to go back and try the Chaloners restaurant.

This is without doubt the WORST place we have ate for a very long time. An hour and a half wait for 2 starter and 2 mains. Paid over 25 pound for a medium rump stake expecting it to be excellent for the price and was no better than what you get from weatherspoons 5 minutes down the road for 5 quid. I do not recommend eating here go to mcdonalds for better selection and quality.

We went for a family lunch on a crisp, sunny day in late December. The stately home hotel and its surroundings are stunning. The back drop of the hills is also scenic. There are Alpacas in the fields adjacent to the drive way, good for the kids.We were greated as we entered the bistro and shown to the grand lounge to view menus. We were left to struggle in arranging the large, comfortable chairs into a family circle so we could sit together. A little help would have been appreciated. The menus arrived promptly, but were a bit dirty and dog-eared. The selection looked good and the prices were reasonable for a hotel.A waitress arrived promptly and took our drinks order and served the drinks. We ordered and were shown to a comfortable table in the smart, modern chic Bistro. The prawn cocktail and bargee starters arrived promptly and were well presented and tasty. We followed this with Fish and chips, which were substantial and delicious, a chicken Cesar salad which was mainly lettuce and quite bland and a beef casserole which was also bland with tasteless, dry biscuit type dumplings. My wife asked for mayonnaise to brighten up her salad but this did not arrive until she had almost finished. We had treacle tart, crème brûlée and apple crumble desserts which were well presented and delicious. All in all a mixed bag of food quality but in fantastic surrounding at a reasonable price. On balance it was a nice family occasion and we will return.

We had dinner here 10 days before Christmas, and the bistro being less than half full should already be a sign to the management that something isn't right. The menu is very limited and lacked imagination. We had 3 different dishes - risotto, salmon and pasta, and chicken shawarma. Sadly the risotto was dry, lacked seasoning and taste, and had a slab of goats' cheese on top rather than adding flavour and moisture by being stirred throughout. It was similar with the salmon, with over-cooked fish sitting on a pile of pasta. The shawarma was just very strange. The whole dish was something that could be pulled together with cupboard ingredients and the leftovers from yesterday's roast chicken and doesn't deserve place on the menu. The chicken had been previously cooked (it was obvious from the taste), and mixed with far too much chilli that destroyed any potential balance. They even managed to mess around with the pitta. Rather than serving puffed pittas that could be stuffed with chicken, it was cut into pieces and piled onto the plate as if it was just flatbread. If we had not been visiting with parents (that would have been upset) every dish would have been sent back to the kitchen and we would have gone elsewhere. The venue makes a lot of fuss about the pedigree of the chef, and even has large photos in the toilets (very odd). The menu and cooking however is that of an inexperienced or amateur team. The only factor stopping the rating being terrible is that they served good coffee while we sat in the lounge next to the real fire.

We ate here when staying at the hotel and had a very enjoyable meal. The service was most attentive without being obtrusive. The food was good quality and the portions highly generous! We had starters of farmhouse terrine - very tasty - and prawn cocktail - plenty of prawns! We both then had the fish and chips and this was some of the best ever! The fish was enormous and SO tasty. It was cooked to perfection and the chips were also delicious! It was served with the usual accompaniments. I would definitely choose this restaurant (and probably meal!) again on returning to the hotel.

My boyfriend and I visit gisborough hall as a Valentine's treat. The bar was so welcoming and nothing was a problem. The waitress was on her own and saw to us straight away. I asked for a Pimms and lemonade with all the fruit! She didn't have anything chopped up to put in my drink and instead of staying this she excused herself and went and got all the fruit and cut it up! I was absolutely delighted that she went to so much effort! Later we enjoyed a baileys and the bar staff allowed us to enjoy our drink at the bar and were very attentive!I would love to return to the hotel and bar and try some of the yummy cocktails that were on offer!!!

Had tapas when we stayed here recently as we wanted something small and relatively quick. The restaurant was busy and we heard the restaurant manager say to other staff that in effect they'd just have to deal with it. Oh how to make your guests feel at ease and welcome! If your kitchen cannot cope with tapas from 5.30-7.30pm then don't advertise it. Simple. If you do advertise it then don't make unprofessional comments which your guests can overhear (and yes we can describe the restaurant manager to you as we have seen him on many occasions). Please don't push us to try Grinkle again!!

This small bar restaurant is a jewel. It can be found in Gisborough Hall, one of the McDonald Hotel group. The food is superb and locally sourced with excellent presentation. The service is professional but can be a little slow, but food is freshly cooked and well worth waiting for. Prices are a little more than the norm, but sometimes price matches the quality, and personally I would prefer to pay a little more for excellent food on occasions. The decor and ambience of the bar restaurant is incongruous to the main hotel, but it in no way feels wrong as it is discreetly placed within the otherwise "baronial" building.

I'm not impressed by the quality of food, I don't think produce was fresh. The taste just wasn't there. We paid over 50 GBP for two, but I was disappointed for what we go for that. I think they need to focus on fresh produce, a bit more seasoning and more attentive staff.
