Fung's Kitchen in Richmond upon Thames

I was looking for a new Chinese takeaway, after reading reviews I decided to give this place a go. Upon arrival I found the decor to be a little shabby, for example, removal of the Covid screen is long overdue, made the experience a little impersonal or detached, like a petrol station after 10pm, ordering thru a hole in the Perspex. My server was polite and hospitable, managed to smile and took my order quickly and accurately, although this was interrupted by a telephone order, which I accept is their M.O. I was advised of a fifteen minute wait, my order was ready on time. After a ten minute journey home, my food was still hot. I found the (5) Crispy Pancake Roll very crispy, however may require more seasoning, a little salt corrected this. (30) Kung Po Pork, was excellent, considerably more onion and carrot than pork, however really scratched my itch for spice and sweet, would definitely order again. (82) Special Fried Rice was loaded with pork, prawn and chicken, and was a generous portion; however the rice was not consistently fried and parts had a taste and feel of boiled rice. I’d also like to see more egg? The three dishes came to £17 something, which isn’t too bad I guess, the portions were large and of good quality. My criticism of the food is due to my own personal tastes and I recognise that the takeaway was quite busy. I recommend and will be frequenting this establishment. And there’s a pub next door…

I only tried noodles so far, and I am very pleased with the balanced price and quality. There could be more meat in it but it was reasonable for the price.

Best Chinese takeaway I’ve had in a long time!

For years having my Friday take away from here. 5 stars every time. Orders timely, kept hot until collection and just delicious. Staff always polite and welcoming. Highly recommend!

We ordered for 1st time tonight as are usual chinese was closed for 2 weeks...food was excellent and tasty the beef n green pepper in black bean sauce was beautiful we asked lady no chilli cause its so nice without you could buy a bagguette and just mop up the sauce 😋😋😋 defo be ordering again highly recomend this chinese takeaway

An established take away. Great food reasonable prices great selection, are very friendly and deliver. I've enjoyed several takeaways, suggest you give them a try for yourself highly recommended

Best Chinese food around. Pricey but so worth it.

The worst Chinese ever. Chips cooked in dirty oil. General Tso chicken was cheap cuts of chicken in a oil & chill sauce, not even remotely similar to the original recipe. First and last visit. Avoid.

I travel from Teddington to Whitton to go to this Chinese. Hands down, this is by far the best Chinese around. I highly recommend their chicken in satay sauce, crispy lamb, and satay rice. The staff here are also lovely. This place will always be a favourite of mine, and the price is a bloody bargain for the quality of their meals.

Monday 3rd October - 18:20 Entrance has a small step into it and the door is manual. I tend to ring ahead and collect as I only live around the corner. Tonight we had two portions of chicken curry and one portion of egg fried rice all for £15.60p. I was going to take a picture but I was hungry and tucked straight in. It was really tasty and filling, would definitely go back again.

Nice takeout food decent portions too

Fung's is definitely the best Chinese takeaway. The prawn balls were awesome as was the Roast Duck Chinese Style with soft noodles. It was piping hot, the portions generous and we managed to devour the lot! Compliments to the chef!

Food is good but I hope they use genuine jasmine rice which would perhaps enhance their authenticity.

Just had a delivery waited hour and half food all cold and delivery driver couldn’t find our house but have ordered before Offered 10 % discount for cold food

always start a new place with 5 orders..chicken satay skewers..s+s chicken balls..sesame prawn toast..egg fried rice and curry sauce.. everything was fine to awesome except the sesame prawn toast..too much toast. x

We looking forward to my chow mein until I noticed a dead frog in my noodles. Went back to complain and they tried to charge me extra for the frog. Not impressed

Best Chinese. Quality ingredients and food full of flavour. Very polite when ordering and food always arrives hot and tasty. Won't order from anywhere else

Sorry but even one star is too much for Fungs. Picked up a collection last night and they got our order completely wrong! Ordered chicken curry and a Thai beef red curry. My husband got prawn curry and I got nothing. Shame we had to go in there this evening and end up arguing over their mistake! It’s a shame that Sophie and her lovely family left as the new management really don’t understand the value of customer service. In the end, we didn’t want any money back as we would never walk in this establishment ever again!!!!

They gave me a spare rib with about 10% meat 20% bone and 70% fat, disgusting. They smeared the rice and dried duck with cheap BBQ sauce. Now I understand why I never see Chinese people in Chinese restaurants. This restaurant just didn't give a damn! Unfortunately, Whitton, Twickenham, Hounslow and Feltham have very few good Chinese restaurants. I would steer clear of this restaurant.

Great food, good selection. Often order food from here, definitely recommend. Delivery times could be better though.

What a pleasant surprise...a great little takeaway tucked within rows of houses in a largely residential street in Whitton...food was made fresh, tasted amazing, didn't have any excessive cooking oil or any sort of grease. Food tasted yumm...service was polite and friendly and home delivery was in a jiffy. I had Omelette Prawns...never had it before ever... will have it again soon... just loved it

I've been going to this place for years,I moved back to the area after being a way for a year,It seams to have changed owners the food had very little taste in fact everything tasted the same,It wouldn't surprise me if it closes down soon its that bad,Sorry but its an honest review lets hope they change there attitude and cook soon!

Bad bad bad ....to honest I'm only giving it 1 star cos I have to to post this , kids running around everywhere even on the streets out side all young!!!! most of them under 6 ,I'm all for giving places that look grotty a chance cos they just need a break and some do taste better than some other places that charge more, nothing about this place is like that it's dirty and I was greeted by a 10 year old kid on a phone and when she finally got an aldult he was a BITTER man who complained about paying by card card and then took my food out of what could be described as a fiberglass box and gave it to me like it was a hassle to him, I took it home and spoke to my wife what happened and she said she told me not to go there and she didn't eat it , I had a little poke around it and it was poor to say the least and we ended up getting something else , my wife chucked it in the bin, do yourself a favour and just go somewhere else , the only reason I went there was my normal plase was closed .....

Great take away! Love to buy my takeaways here. They're quick, delivery is good, food is definitely very consistent. No surprise drops in quality. Good selection and they're opened until 11 pm. Remember that they are always closed on Tuesdays! Pricing is competitive as well, great meal deals.

Horrible food.. horrible costumer service as she seems to only to have time for the locals.. the beef spare ribs were like rubber looked like they were cooked a year ago and reheated in microwave.. stir fried beef with chille and spring onion had no beef! And the onion was white onion not spring!! Overall the worst chinese i ever tried!

Don't order from this place. The woman on the phone has no customer service skills at all. Prices are different from the menu advertised online. She wouldn't explain why.... It's the "customer's fault" if you ask questions..... VERY RUDE!!!! I'm infuriated at how she speaks to customers.

Good local take away with huge selection of dishes. Tasty but not the best. I always collect my order so I don't have an experience with their delivery service.

Best takeaway I’ve had in years can’t fault anything. Crispy beef is fabulous and still crispy when delivered. Brilliant portion sizes too I fed two children and still had leftovers on one main!! Really friendly from the lady who took the order to delivery driver and arrived within estimated time given. We will definitely be regular customers here!! Compliments to he chef and the staff

Good food but don’t be surprised to be regularly told it will be 60-70 minutes only to call after 90 minutes and be told it will be with you soon. Crazy wait for food which has come cold once as a result. Reluctant to use - great food but shocking delivery service.

A bit shocked by tonight's experienced I've had fairly good experience of Fungs in the past. I have given minor feed back but never complained. Tonight the lady screamed at me when I gently reminded them that I preferred my dish without chillies due to a minor allergy that i have. Her reply was extremely rude and defensive when i wasn't even complaining! Unfortunately she wouldn't listen to her customer at all and she could only say that it was my fault that I hadn't complained previously!! So i am feeling suprised and dismayed that she would hang up the phone more than once when I was just trying to make an order and not complain. Clearly she is clearly having a very bad day but i cant see how i can use Fung's again. A shame but not after they treat their customer like that. In short rude, odd, can't take gentle feedback. Food is ok but nothing to write home about when they listen to their customers.

Love love love Fungs! What can I say they are very friendly, very clean, very fast, and very generous with there portion sizes... I've been using Fungs now for Many years and will never use anywhere else. There food is delicious and everyone I have introduced fungs to tell the same storey. Definatly a 5*

Usually I regularly order but as I was passing I called into this busy takeaway. As always good food from the helpful staff.

I went to this purveyor of food less than twenty minutes ago, I have had food from there before which has always been to an acceptable standard. Alas the service has not. My experience tonight was one of complete bewilderment.. In short the owner manageress or person responsible for taking an order tried to charge me £17 for a meal consisting of crab meat and sweet corn soup, King prawn balls and egg fried rice... Had the establishment been the "Good Earth" or "Yming" then I would have expected that and gladly paid.. However, Fungs Kitchen is not and will not be getting any custom from me or anybody whom, I have even a passing acquaintance with...

Love Fung's, good food at good price.

Think twice about ordering from Fung's- placed an order of 5 dishes which is not what i received, when i called back to inform them the order was wrong the lady was extremly rude and then told me its my fault! i then had to wait another 20 minutes for the correct dishes to be delivered....and was told to return the chicken balls. Would stay clear of this Chinese, nicer take aways local.

Out of all the Chinese takeaways I've had, Fung's Kitchen are by FAR the best! Delicious food and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
