Fuller's Ale & Pie House in City of London, Westminster

A little noisy at peak times but it's a very cosy and wholesome place to have a drink. I didn't eat here but the food did look amazing and big portions. Close links to public transport and local hotels

A popular British pub with a nice selection of beers, cocktails and yummy food. The service was unbelievably amazing and the meat pie was so delicious. Lots of locals gather here for after work drinks and a meetup spot.

Good option for a pub. Slightly larger than average choice of beers on tap. Staff are happy and helpful. The food is good and recommended. Generally a good ambiance inside and out. The front is a sun trap, so good for a drink outside during the summer.

14/06/2024: Popped in for a bite to eat lunchtime as this Fuller's pub Butcher's Hook & Cleaver was convenient before we took a jaunt round Clerkenwell and Little Italy and had one last lingering look at Smithfields Market before it goes! We love this part of London and have many happy memories here. We returned for an early dinner and ordered a chicken breast burger and fries and a Caesar salad with chicken for an extra £4 and a side of chips. Let's say the chicken was wanting. The extra side of chips was only ordered because my husband had wanted Chicken Kiev that came without chips so we thought we'd order a portion between us. But they had no more Kievs and we forgot, and were not reminded, about the extra chips! Hey ho. Along with a bottle of white Pino Grigio the bill came to £70.45. Fine except they tried to charge a 12.5% service charge...for a pub! ...for a bogstandard meal in the bar area! ...where you had to get up and go to the other end of the bar to fetch glasses of water yourself!! Outrageous. We asked for it to be removed. According to the revised bill it shouldn't have been charged in any case for a party of 2. See photo.

Popped in for a quick pint at lunchtime, great range of beers, good looking pub, quick and friendly staff. Shame I had so little time to spend there

Surrounded by £8 million apartments the Mad Hatter stands out as being from a different time or place. We were pleasantly surprised to find a quiet, cozy, old fashioned pub greeting us. Finding a table on a Saturday night was easy, the beer flowed, as did the conversation. Decent. Not recommended for nights out with your cocktail loving pals though.

Not the cheapest pint but by no means the most expensive! Former hat factory turned into a decent pub. Friendly staff and good quality well kept beers.

Stylish, friendly, with quick service too. Good acoustics into the bargain, so a far better option than most pubs or bars in the vicinity.

A quiet, decent pub. Not excitingly trendy by any means, but not raucous or always chocker either. Pretty good beer. Spot on if you want a nice quiet pint and to hear what other people are saying.

Servizio molto veloce e cordiale, la pie del menù da noi ordinata non era presente questo mi ha fatto pensare che probabilmente non sono fatte lì ma surgelate e poi scongelate. Quello che potevamo prendere era buono mentre i dolci lasciavano a desiderare.

You can go eyes closed to any Ale and Pie restaurant. A lot of good beers and ciders, the food is also delicious and the staff always kind.

Nice pub, however very disappointed in the food! Ordered a sekection of small plates and what we received was very poor. Everything appeared to have been previously cooked and then reheated. Very poor.

Located in the Mad Hatter hotel. I thought the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is very clean, open and bright. I put my trust in the bar keeper / waitress who brought me two wonderful beers that complemented the meal. I wandered in here by accident as too many other pubs I wanted to try were way too busy, and I'm glad I found this establishment and dined here! For fellow Americans needing a restaurant with American-style air conditioning, this place has it!

We came to eat because we saw the reviews were good. We had to wait because the dining area was full even though the reservations were not until over one hour later. The manager came by and let us sit at the table. We got the black bean burger and the Angus burger. Neither had much flavor at all. The bean burger was vegetables mushed and few beans, honestly it was one of the worst if not the worst I've had. It was like eating boiled vegetables on a bun. I don't recommend getting the burgers here although the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice.

"THE MAD HATTER HOTEL": Quite why Google insists that this isn't the name of the place is beyond me (Gets rejected as an edit!!). ...Anyhow, we've enjoyed both drinks and food here and it's perfectly fine for us. Happy to return.

Nice pub, looks like an hotel as well. It's on the south bank at the end of Blackfriars bridge. It is only a short stroll from the Tate Modern so I was surprised the it was so quiet. The beer was good and we decided to lunch here. Has a wide choice of fare on offer and my brother was well pleased with his burger. I opted for a ploughman's lunch and was expecting at least a doorstep of bread with a big chunk of cheddar, pickled onion and butter maybe tarted up a bit as most places seen to do these days. We'll look for yourself! No ploughman ever got within a spit of anything like this. There was no cheese. That was quickly remedied by the threat of a call to Consumer Protection and Health and Safety. It was ok really but not a real ploughman's.

Nice place to have a few drinks after work. The music is not to loud and they do clear up empty glasses quickly

I paid this place a visit for lunch and the moment you walk into this place, you feel like you have taken a step back through time. Loved the retro look and feel of this place. I went for the beef burger with smoked applewood cheese and triple cooked chips. The burger, though tasty left me feeling underwhelmed and the the triple cooked chips....... I've had better double cooked chips!

Good atmosphere when full with great staff. Would need to keep a tighter eye on the new one's and their pint pulling techniques. Recently had a paint job , which brighten the place up. Has a good layout for small groups to keep the space personal as well as booths for an intimate feel. Food is fairly standard pub grub, if a little pricey, and needs to have a better vegetarian / vegan options. Good range of drinks available, but can run out at weekends.

Fairly limited menu but decent food. Toilets in a weird location in the hotel part of the building and all the way down stairs.

Come here either before or after visiting the Tate Modern for some British food and drink. This tasting board is £15.95 and a portion of the price goes towards funding the special olympics. I am very satisfied with this experience! I am a tourist so it’s perfect for me. I don’t know local opinions on the pies nor ale.

Simple decent food good service

Good old fashioned pub. Selection of beers and wines and traditional pub grub (including award winning pies and a kids menu). Decent place to spend the afternoon or for a few beers after work.

Had a couple drinks with work on the day, the pub has a good selection on draft.

Returned 2 pints as both pride and ESB were flat as a pancake. They put a fresh barrel on after that which was better. Then ordered nachos without cream because of dairy allergy. Got sour cream. Not great service. Should have gone to doggets.

They serve food until 21:00 on Friday and the Burgers are overpriced and tiny. If you want any extra £1 . Clearly they don’t want to serve food or they don’t aim to have that type of customer. Good if you want a drink that is it

Bad experience. Bad service, the only advantage was that they were open on Sunday at 21.00. Was asked to pay upfront, and the meal was not fresh. Worst of what I have tried in England so far.

Ridiculous slow service. Rubbish. Go somewhere else. Expensive food. I will never come back.
