Fryer's Plaice in Newcastle upon Tyne

1145 Friday morning. Luke warm chips, did not taste fresh at all. tasteless. Soggy fish. 10 pounds, straight in the bin.

Fantastic food, a large fish and large chips easily feeds two of us. Parking at the door, but it gets busy because of the quality and price.

Fantastic fish and chips best fish shop in burnopfield I would recommend this to anyone staff are nice and friendly and the kebabs are also nice if you want to try them out one day

Longest wait for the worst chippy tea! Batter, if you can call it that was burnt on the outside and raw next to the fish! Then the fish, worst frozen scabby bit of fish that I have ever seen. Oh wait then the chips all you could taste is old burnt oil. Decided to go get a ‘fillet o fish’ from MacDonald’s best choice I made, should of done that rather then waste my money at fryer’s plaice!!!

Really good fish and chips, good value, friendly service , apart from the highly unreliable closing hours the best chippy for miles around.

Popped in for Fish and chips while having a social distancing picnic at the weekend. Fantastic value and quality and my little ones loved it. We equally enjoyed our light bite fish chips and mushy peas the fish was beautifully cooked. One of my friend ordered a kebab wrap which looked amazing, will definitely be trying one next time. We will be returning very soon.

Excellent service, not many fish and chip shop serve haddock. Haddock juices and flakey. Good chips. Highly recommend. Very friendly ladies.

Being Friday,we got our lunch from Fryers in Burnopfield,we opted for the fish bite selection.Very generous portions,crispy batter,perfectly cooked chips.Very satisfied

had two fiends round my place helping me put up ikea flat back..success....so as a treat on good friday i treat them to fish n chips..FANTASTIC....ps i live opposite.

I enjoy going here every time i go, as it is only three or four blocks away from me. Honestly one of the best chip shop i have ever been to. Amazing service, ready in 5 minutes and enough timw time to nip to the shops while it is getting prepared. I only have one reccomendation to the Fryers Plaice, and that is to make it an eat in place as well as just a take away. Food is always still fresh and hot even from the 10 minute walk home. I love this place and i will reccomend this amazingness to everybody nearby.

We use Fryer's Plaice semi regularly. It's our local chippy. The staff are great and friendly, and always a laugh. The food is spot on. Love the fish, fried perfectly and never any soggy batter (which you get at other places). Highly recommended.

I have recently moved to Burnopfield 3 months ago and ever since I moved here I have been going to fryers plaice for my fish and chips and also the kebabs which they now serve. The portions are very generous and always keep you full the staff are courteous and friendly always keen to make you feel appreciated and always smiling would recommend anyone who hasn’t tried here to try it and you will not be disappointed at all.

Fish and chips are always excellent and generous portion sizes. Wish they were open for longer in an evening then I’d be tempted to buy a bag of chips more often!

Called in by chance and we were not disappointed. Large portions straight from the fryer. Hot, fresh and very tasty. What more can I say?

The fryers Mrs delivered him dumplings on a dinner plate in the shape of hearts which looked so much better than anything else behind the glass, but they weren't for sale.! 😡 The chip butty was spot on tho.

Worse fish and chips I've ever had. Reheated up and utterly tasteless. The fish was dry as was the batter. I even tried soaking the meal in vinegar but it could not penetrate the dried out texture of the food. Won't be going back.

The fish is exceptional. Chips on the soft side but that might suit some. Portions huge. If your appetite is not huge i would recommend only one portion of chips between two.

Simples - best fish and chips for miles around. Batter is always crispy, portions are a good size and the staff are really helpful too. Love it.

Deje de usar Maguires, cuando tratamos este lugar hace un buen rato. Que nunca dejará de ofrecer comida de calidad. Fresco, muy sabroso, y siempre con una buena porción. El personal es muy amable. No sorprendió que son un galardonado chips

Doesn't look much from the outside, there is parking available. Basic chip shop inside. Staff have always been friendly and efficient. Food always appears fresh and is very tasty - good batter makes the fish and chips are moist and plump. Prices average for this type of take-away food but quality is above average.

I was really looking forwards to my fish and chip supper upon return from holiday last week . I don't eat them very often but Fryers Plaice has always been my favorite - portion size is very generous I was given two huge pieces of fish which were lovely but I was really disappointed with the chips which were really pale , greasy and soggy . In the past they have always been crisp light and golden - I haven't visited the shop for a long time so I'm hoping this is just a one off and that next time they are back to usual quality !

Lovely fish and chip shop had sausage and chips for my dinner then told my girlfriend about it then she sent me there to get her some food so I ended up getting myself some more ha ha both times perfect

I had sausage and chips and my boyfriend had sausage chips gravy and mushy peas an it was lovely, the chip shops in our area are not good so he had to drive 10 mins to get them but well worth it.

I've been going here for a while now and all I can say is that the food consistently better than any of the fish and chip shops in the area. I always ring up 15 minutes in advance and give them my order and it is therefore ready to just pay and pick up, saves waiting in the queue.

Just made an order for 7 of us from work. Beautiful food. Tasted fresh. Not like it was warmed up like u normally get. Will be travelling the 6 mile from home rather than 0.5mile to where my local is.

Always head here for good fish and perfectly cooked chips. Staff always have a bit of banter too. Always willing to cook to order if it's getting close to closing time - always a good indicator!

As it says in the title, fantastic fish and chips. We moved from a town which had a fish and chip shop that was rated ‘first' throughout England. We were worried we would not encounter such great fish and chips again. We found Fryers and were over the moon.
