This has got to be the worst fish and chip shop I have ever visited. There was a rank smell of used cooking oil/fat all over the shop which I could taste in the fish served to me leaving a nasty aftertaste that lasted a couple of hours. The chips and peas were fine but apart from that there was nothing good about the food or service. The decor was terrible, the plastic ketchup bottle was greasy and service by the grubby looking waiters non-existent. By the way it’s cash only which the waiter did not warn me about and there were no signs on the wall which informed the customer on the way in. I had to leave the shop and withdraw cash from a convenience store next door which charged me almost 2 pounds to use. I felt sorry for the Chinese tourists sitting on another table and the poor impression they must have got afterwards eating what they thought would be a classic Brirish dish.

Anything under 5* for this place is criminal. The food, the history, and the location of this place is legendary. It's a very welcoming place that has always been there for the locals and visitors alike. This is an independent business, everyone works extremely hard and deserves every praise they get. Fryer's Delight is always the best, don't believe the rest 😉🐟

The chips were precooked and then reheated in hot oil despite me arriving shortly after it opened. This made them very dry. Curry sauce saved the day!The sausage in batter was ok. This used to be a cracking chippy. I might have made my last visit. 😔

The restaurant had a nostalgic atmosphere, and the old men who seemed to be friendly were there to serve us. We shared the haddock because it looked big, but it was so delicious that we probably could have added just the fish. I only had to pay in cash! So when I tried to go to the ATM because I didn't have enough cash on hand, they told me that euros would also be fine, so I mixed them up and paid. thank you very much.

It’s gone downhill. Was a traditional haunt for cabbies and workers in the area. The chips were over cooked , bland and cold. The cod was too small, cold and soggy to justify £10.95. It is a shame as I wanted to go to a traditional chipie where everything is kept like it was since the 60s and 70s and they did a good job retaining the original features but the cod and chips was plain awful and overpriced. I nearly walked out.

It is indeed a traditional fish bar. The furnitures and the ambience has been probably the same for years but don't judge before tasting the amazing fish! You can taste the freshness and the quality of the food served here! I would definitely come back, however, I have one thing to point out: they accept only cash so make sure to go prepared! And a feedback for the owners: it's about time to accept card payments ;) otherwise you might lose more and more customers!

The Fryers Delight is known for being a special place for fish and chips, but our recent experience left much to be desired. We ordered two plaice and chips and two cod and chips, hoping for a classic, satisfying meal. Unfortunately, the overall taste was underwhelming. Both the plaice and cod were noticeably bland, lacking the fresh, flavorful punch that makes a good fish and chips meal so enjoyable. The batter on the fish was also too oily, leaving a greasy aftertaste that detracted from the experience. The chips, though adequately cooked, were equally lacking in flavor. While the service was efficient and the staff friendly, it wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster quality of the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant enough, with its traditional decor and seating options, but the food simply didn't live up to the expectations set by its reputation. In summary, while The Fryers Delight may be known for its fish and chips, our visit was disappointing due to the bland, oily taste of the food. It's possible that this was an off day, but based on our experience, we wouldn't be in a rush to return.

Entering The Fryer's Delight feels like stepping into a nostalgic time capsule, with well-maintained Formica tables that evoke a bygone era. Upon deciding to dine in, I took a seat and perused the simple yet appealing menu, ultimately selecting the Cod from the variety of fish options available. The service was prompt and efficient, enhancing the overall experience. I opted to complement my meal with a side of mushy peas and liberally doused the fish and chips in vinegar and salt, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying meal. Unlike a previous experience elsewhere, the peas were served with warm which I much prefer. I would certainly revisit The Fryer's Delight on another trip to London. It's worth noting that they accept cash only, but there is an ATM conveniently located on the corner.

The fish and chips are very nice, but the toilets are quite the experience. You go through what appears to be a cupboard door next to the fryer, and are transported up an iron spiral staircase into a 1970s London squat. Whilst the toilet itself is clean, it's overall pretty squalid and if you can't make it up the steps and over the torn lino, you're best off sneaking into the pub over the road. Also it's not beef dripping (at least not when I went), it's palm oil, which is fine but not the same.

Probably, the Haddock fish and chips are fabulous as per UK's standards. As for me used to Vancouver 's Island Canada Fish and chips flavors, this one was tasteless. Fish and chips were great - ordered 3 kinds (cod, haddock and plaice). They were all freshly fried, light crispy batter, good chips/fries and delicious curry sauce (this is a must try!) CASH ONLY! We came here not realizing this. We already ordered and waited for our food when we asked this to make sure. The waiter let us know that we can pay in USD, we decided to give it a shot. As a tourist had to get fish and chips while in London. Didn't think too much of it other than it's a must do. It's just fried fish right? Well...I was wrong. This was by far the best fried fish I've ever had and I live in the South of the USA where we are no strangers to fish frying. Delicious. Had the Cod and the Haddock. I prefer haddock. The chips were...ok. The establishment is simple but that's what I like. No frills. Staff was great. Rated one of the best in london for a reason.

possibly not the best fish & chips but very nostalgic and I like that. The tartar sauce hardly deserves the name, it's a shame that the shop owners don't make the sauce themselves. All in all, a bit carelessly prepared but as I already mentioned, I like the shop and that's why I would come back.

You can get as snobby as you like, but to me this is really important. Straight good honest working people work here and serve you with a proper smile. Calling all Irish in London, if you want the taste of home go here! The chips were crisp an outside and fluffy inside with that distinctive beef dripping fried taste. I have always found British fish and chips limp and soggy cooked in veg oil and tasteless. But here you don’t even need salt and vinegar. The chips taste amazing. The fish was delicious a little oily but we are not here for health! The sausage in batter was also crisp and the meat inside was good quality. Definitely coming back this week again! Taste of home! It really pains me to say this, but I’ve just had the worst Sunday roast I have ever had and would not recommend this pub for food to anyone. This is so sad as I have been to the Albert many times and was really looking forward to visiting more often now a good friend has moved in nearby. I hope this review will help improve standards in what is usually a lovely pub and ensure good food standards are maintained as my previous experiences were fine. This afternoon I didn’t want to make a fuss about my food as not to spoil a meal with my friends and partner, but the food was inedible and I had no choice but to send it back. Mistakes happen and I was ready to accept that, but it is sad that no one seemed to care, and this added to my frustration with today’s experience. I ordered the pork belly and when it arrived some of the vegetables (squash) were stone cold and the potatoes barely at room temperature and uncooked on the inside. The plate overall looked great and I didn’t want to say anything as my friends and partner had got their food (sausage and mash), but as I took my second bite I then realised the potato I had just been eating was all black and rotten on the other side and on the inside. It was disgusting so I had no option but to send back to the kitchen. There was not much of an apology, but my plate was taken away swiftly. Sadly, it was only by the time the others at my table had finished their food, that I was brought my replacement roast. This time there was far less vegetables on the plate, although I had previously only eaten half a potato. The potatoes in my new plate looked like they had been reheated quite quickly as they were dark and hard on the outside, but still uncooked on the inside. The pork was also not cooked well with the fat mostly uncooked and inedible. Even the Yorkshire pudding was not cooked properly, so I ended up leaving most of the food. The staff taking my mostly uneaten plate away at the end didn’t seem to notice or care, and there was no apology for the poor prior experience or opportunity for feedback. As I spoke to my partner on the way home he said his sausage and mash were fine, if a little underwhelming. The pub also felt like it could do with a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness, something my partner also noticed. Again, these are things that appear to have changed from our previous visits.
