Would not recommend to anyone. Food is bland is taste and chicken taste cheap and over cooked. Awful

Pleasantly surprised. We were passing through the area and spotted this place. The service is impeccable and to a higher standard than most restaurants. We were made to feel very welcome. The portions are good sized and the prices lower than we are used to in London. Highly recommended.

Fantastic meal out at spice 1875 Great food and lovely atmosphere.

Food was alright, but nothing special. Salad a bit limp. Quality and quantity of meat was good, but dishes just a bit bland. Bit of confusion between waiters as what was on the menu and what was served. Has an eclectic mix of ornaments and decor. Still thinks it's a pub?

The meat served smells very bad.

Good new Indian restaurant in Slip End. We went on a banquet night and thought the food and service were great. It was very quiet on the night we went, but this was because the road was closed due to the Radio 1 Big Weekend.

First time coming to Spice 1875.They were very welcoming.The service and food was good.

Our second visit to Spice 1875... did not disappoint! Food is SUPERB!... not your average run of the mill curry... but aromatic and spiced to perfection and the service and ambiance is just spot on! Portions are too large to finish... but happy to devour tomorrow ☺️... going to try to get my work to book the restaurant for a staff outing! THANK YOU SPICE 1875!

Have just enjoyed the best Indian I have had in a long time. The food was so fresh and flavoursome yet light and didn’t have that level of oil you get with so many Indian restaurants. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.

We had heard lots of positive reviews about this place and so went for a Thursday dinner. The place has been done up very well and is very spacious. First impressions were good. The service was good and the staff were nice. Those are the only positives about the place. We tried to order beer and were told there was only one type of beer available. The menu has some really weird sounding names. The starters were not good - the Varnasi tandoor platter was tasteless and not properly cooked. The mains were awful - tasteless and flavourless. We will not be going back to this place again.

Nice friendly environment, always delicious food from a wide ranging and interesting menu compared to your typical Indian restaurant. Lots of great specialties like the Black Mamba curry, Chilli Beef fry, Chicken Tikka 3 ways, and the excellent Okra fries. Good selection of beer and wine, and friendly staff.

Such accommodating staff, tonight we had a fabulous meal where the vegetables outshone the chicken. The chef was happy to adjust the dishes for my father who is a diabetic and myself who can’t tolerate a lot of fat. I would recommend a visit.

We turned up at Frog and Rhubarb and then realised it is now an Indian Restaurant known as Spice 1875 in Slip End. The decor was very bright and airy with tables placed so as to create space and tropical fish were displayed on the wide-screen TV offering lovely calm ambience. It was a wonderful surprise, the staff were most welcoming indeed and found us a table. One review of the menu it had a full array of authentic Indian dishes from different regions of India. Our food when it arrived was piping hot and very well presented. Our waiter Akitur was polite and very attentive to all our needs. This was our first to Spice 1875 and definitely won't be our last, I would strongly recommend this Indian Restaurant.

Hell yes. Food is delicious and prepared with love, menu is varied but not overly ambitious, waiters are friendly and happy to accommodate, great pub/Indian restaurant fusion atmosphere, portions are generous and prices are great. Service timed to perfection too. Well worth a go.

Have always lived in the area and noticed the new opening of Spice 1875 in Slip End. Very impressed with the quality of the food, it was absolutely delicious, with plenty of both vegetarian and meat options. The waiters were very friendly, attentive and chatty - couldn’t fault them. Love the decor of the place and we had an overall lovely experience on both occasions we’ve visited so far. Would 100% recommend and for a newly-opened business, they’re doing extremely well!!

Lovely food service and great atmosphere

Initially happy but the more I thought about it I was not as happy as I thought especially after all the hype. My friend & I went for dinner, food was tasty but very expensive and after reviewing the bill the next morning believe we were over charged, have contacted them on their "contact us" page but still no response. Personally I think they have rushed to open before Christmas, staff are pleasant however inside looks as if decorated by staff than professional decorators and apart from different coloured walls not much different to the old Frog & Rhubarb. Despite being more local I will probably use Markyate Spice who we have used for many years.

Delicious food and the staff are very professional

Lots of fanfares and publicity for this new Indian Restaurant in Slip End, so if they are planning to survive in an area where there are a number of other very similar restaurants things will have to change very rapidly. Firstly, there was no heating on throughout, which, on one the coldest nights of the year so far, made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable, and only got colder as the evening progressed. The initial welcome matched the publicity which initially helped compensate for the cold and the speedy service of drinks and poppadoms allowed us plenty of time to explore the large and interesting menu before ordering. One of our party has both Gluten and Dairy intoillerances and we were initially encouraged that the menu was marked up with a wide range of allergy contents, which was one of the attractions of the publicity information we had received through our letterboxes. Our strategy was order dishes between the 4 of us that we had recently and regularly enjoyed by way of comparison, so between us we ordered Bargi's, Halloumi Pakora, Chicken 3 ways and Aubergine Pakora- all very nice and flavourful. However, things now went rapidly downhill. - 1.5 hours later, still no main courses! Despite chancing them up and others around us who had arrived much after us having been served starters and mains, the staff admitted that they had forgotten us, resulting in what was very obviously a panic response with food arriving in a chaotic manner and candidly of appalling standard and quality. Not only that, and potentially dangerously so, the dishes that had been marked up on the menu as Gluten Free and Dairy Free were only GF and DF in part and plated up with non DF and GF accompaniments. Having challenged the waiters and the manager??? over this, it became obvious that the level of allergy knowledge was dangerously absent resulting in the dish having to be taken away and a substitute meal brought out. This obviously gave us great concern over the genuineness of the allergen markings of the rest of the menu. Then to cap it all, the bill arrived with the original and quite expensive , but returned main course still included , resulting in some slightly heated argument in amending the bill by the manager?? Several of the waiters were very apologetic but no attempt by the management to show any contrition or apology. A terribly uncomfortable evening all round.

The food was delicious and the portions were big. All the staff were very friendly as well. I would definitely recommend this place 👍👍 as a side note i would like to ask why they have a notice outside the pub that states they serve food all day everyday and then a small notice on the door saying they do not open Monday!!

This was our second visit to the Frog and Rhubarb and we had a very good lunch both times. It’s right next to the off airport parking (APH/Purple Parking/Airparks) so it’s perfect to stop for a civilised meal or drink before dropping the car off, rather than queueing for overpriced airport food. This time we had the Sunday roast - lamb with loads of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Then home made cherry pie - who could resist? The staff are very friendly and welcoming- service can be a bit slow but there aren’t many of them and everything is cooked to order. We’ll definitely be visiting again next time we fly from Luton.

its so cute, friendly staff, felt like they were hot on Covid protection. The food was lovely, had the fish and chips (went for large and wow it is very good value for money) and cookies and cream cheesecake 🤩 Would recomend.

My daughter and I have just enjoyed a very nice lunch at The Frog. My 4 bone rack of lamb was cooked to order (medium), nicely French trimmed and beautifully tender. A good rich sauce, with a hint of mint, crushed potatoes and a generous portion of tender stem broccoli and sugar snaps accompanied. I opted for a glass of the Italian Merlot which was fresh, gentle on the palate and just right to go with the lamb. My daughter enjoyed a crisp battered fish and chips and some nicely cooked French fries. My only, slightly picky, suggestion would be to cook the tender stem broccoli for two or three minutes longer. I give it a rating of 4/5 simply because the decor and surroundings don’t quite live up to the quality of the food and service. Well worth a detour if you happen to be in the area, after all, we travelled 90 miles to have lunch here and weren’t disappointed.

Lunch as part of a club very nice sandwiches, sausages, chips, and a gateaux. Pot of tea, enjoyable.

We popped in here as it was close to the Airparks at Luton. Wow, soooo glad we did. Food was absolutely amazing, freshly cooked, very tasty, what an absolute gem of a place, a must place to have something to eat. You won’t be disappointed ❤️

Friendly and a good pint for a reasonable price

Friendly staff, no roast vegetable for tagliatelle so had a plant based burger with chips. Very nice plus 2*spiced rums. Friend had enjoyed their chicken and sweet potato dish. Nice outdoor area. Booked just in case, would definitely return and recommend.

Popped in to our local and decided to try the new menu few weeks back, the food was so delicious cooked by stev and antonio , the food was that good we finished it all and could of had more :-). We will be definitely be ordering this again at some point. Had a Sunday Roast which was tasty and filling. Also they serve all afternoon which is useful as I like to eat late. Reasonable prices.

Have been there many times but this time food was not that good dessert was under cooked and tin fruit did not think that it was homemade pastry under cooked and soggy
