Had Sunday lunch nothing special & lukewarm, wouldn't return only people eating locals swearing continually loud & a drink driver left the pub whilst we were there with a young child, lady behind the bar pleasant but should mentioned to the locals about the foul language, shame because a nice looking place.

Nice country pub. Only stopped in for a quick drink. One pint and a soft drink cost us £7 so it felt a little on the pricey side (but I think everywhere is these days!). Lovely atmosphere and a spacious, tranquil garden. The barmaid/Landlady was lovely-very friendly and knowledgeable. Would go back if I was in town again.

Great pub, great real ale and the best value food that is truly amazing these days. If The Jolly Cooper can do meals this good for £8, how come most other establishments can't produce 'home cooked' half as good for double the price? The Chicken & Ham pie was full of chunky meat and my wife was equally impressed with the Fish Pie! Nacho starter was good value also👌

We came across the Jolly Coopers by complete accident and we were so glad we did. We received a lovely warm welcome and so did our dog. We had a few drinks and a lunch from the huge menu. Our food choices were great and we both enjoyed our meals. If you're lucky enough to meet the little boy that lives there then your dog will be offered a most welcomed dog treat. We didn't catch his name but his Mum works behind the bar and he definitely gets his politeness and friendly manner from her. A warm welcome, great food and lovely atmosphere.

This is an odd place with all the trappings you expect of country pubs these days with outdoor space used for tables, a marquee for cover and the like... I'll start with the good bit. Service was efficient and the young man who served our group of 9 was charming and efficient. Unfortunately, I also have to get to the not so good bit. An amazingly long menu making selecting food difficult which was added to by a lengthy list of items not available. Food when it arrived was a bit variable as some had to be sent back as it was cold in the middle. My hand cut has was a generous portion but it definitely wasn't hand cut and the chunky chips were rather industrial looking. I'm not being difficult as previous reviewers have reported on the variable quality. Apparently the pub tenants might be moving on which might explain erratic nature of things in the kitchen. It's a pity as there are still the bones of a nice country pub here but its difficult to see.

As a local resudent, you want to support your businesses nearby. The Jolly Coopers is lovely for drinks, but the food is an unmitigated disaster. The menu is huge and overwhelming and, every single time we have visited, I place my order only to be told later that something isn't available. The current £8 menu is also very misleading (check the small print!). Tonight's meal was returned - the so-called chicken katsu curry was a tiny portion of clearly packet chicken in a hideous dark brown glutinous sauce. The salad with the squid looked days old. Places like this will not survive with this quality of food.

Another lovely village pub ruined by foul mouthed alkis sitting at the bar. If you want to drive out decent returning customers this is a master class in how to do it. Seeing how many F words you can get in a single sentence should not be a qualification for customer of the month. If you want to enjoy a meal while listening to entrants for this competition then this is the pub for you.

Group of 7 of us out for a birthday celebration. We were on time and were shown our table etc. We weren't quite ready to order when the server came over, so asked for a couple of minutes. The response we received was 'yes but as long as it is only a minute or two as I've got to put the order in before other tables arrive'. Basically telling us to hurry up. Never had this before anywhere else! They weren't even busy. This put a bit of a sour note on the evening. Some people had starters, the soup was excessively salty and huge, the spicy chicken wings were overcooked and mushy. The mains were OK apart from the burger, which was an overly large minced beef lump with no seasoning, overcooked (because it was so thick) and generally not worth nearly £16. The only redeeming part of the meal was the dessert. Perhaps we will stick to just Sunday lunches here in future (if we did return) as the Saturday menu appears to be consistent with reheated frozen meals.

We visited The Jolly Coopers on a Sunday afternoon after bringing the dogs for a big walk up at Wrest Park. I informed them beforehand that I am gluten intolerant and I was able to have a full roast dinner with all the trimmings. The staff came out to let us know our food would be slightly longer as the chef was cleaning down everything thoroughly before preparing my dinner to avoid any cross contamination. To someone who has this condition it was like hitting the Sunday Roast jackpot as sometimes is can be a game of roulette. They brought water over for the dogs and gave us a lovely spot in the corner. We will be back.

A couple of friends took me for a pub lunch, and I expected to the food to be of a standard, but wow it's at a level or two above my expectations, an undiscovered gem of a place... We made a booking on the same day, we brought our very well behaved dogs to Wrest Park for a good walk then 2 adults and 2 teenager were very well fed at The Jolly. I had made them aware previously that I am gluten intolerant. Proper allergy not a faddy diet. The replied and said fine. I then found out the landlady is coeliac so all the staff fully under stand the allergy. It was the best GF Sunday Lunch I've had in any restaurant. It had GF Yorkshire puddings and proper gravy. These are normally not available on any GF Sunday Lunch. I would thoroughly recommend. It was very good value for money, the staff were friendly and attentive and well trained in allergy information. This was our first visit but we will be back.

As part of my midweek lunch campaign to visit as many interesting pubs within a short drive of home as possible, this week's pick was the Coopers - Tripadvisor rates it as number two out of two in Flitton but don't let that put you off, it's not really in the village and is pipped to the top spot for now by the long-established White Hart. The pub has a promising corner location close to cycling and walking routes, and it's been done out in modern pastels with recent additions of screens and plastic sheets, together with a big marquee at the back, which show that the team is taking post-lockdown restrictions very seriously and fair play to them. Our lunchtime menu had plenty to choose from and the portions were very generous - there's a good range of choice for veggies and vegans too.The sauce in my macaroni and fish dish could have done with a bit more cling but there was plenty of mussels, prawns and squid. Elsewhere a whopping portion of lamb kofta and a tasty little cheesy tart ticked the boxes, with my meal washed down by a decent pint of Eagle - it's a Charles Wells house which is never my first choice, but it was a very well-kept offering. The team is friendly and chatty and there were lots of regulars popping in during our midweek visit. The pub's website lays out a lot more food options including a Sunday roast but best to check in advance what the kitchen can handle during these strange times rather than taking that as read, and don't miss the chance to browse the shelves full of free books in the porch - it's a bring one, take one system but if you're unlikely to be a regular there are charity tins behind the bar ready for a contribution.

Friendly and attentive staff. Portions were big, but I felt the flavours were a little bland and the ingredients lacking- the aubergine stew had no aubergine. Many meals come with a big side salad which I find quite bland. But you get a lot of food on your plate for your money so it's good if you like that

Visited the pub for the first time after our local decided to open some days and not others and food was poor and often with a restricted menu. ( This was before coronavirus problems.) The pub was lively and inviting with locals taking the trouble to enter into conversation. The landlord was welcoming and took time to make us feel comfortable. We ordered strog which was fantastic and very tasty. Planned to stay for lunch but ended up being there for 3 hours. That said the food arrived within 10 mins. Good range of drinks at reasonable prices. Enjoyed it so much we booked for an evening quiz.

One thing Positive and unchanged, the staff are lovely and really as helpful as ever. The Sunday roast dinners however are no longer good value for money. Tiny portions have now replaced the generous ones offered just a short time ago.If fact the large portion +£3 & 2 meats, was actually a smaller offering than a standard one as 2 of us disappointingly acknowledged!A new chef under direction re portion size and owners taking on & running more than one venue have seemingly taken their toll.We complained but it seems this is the new standard for this place.Must remember to eat a hearty breakfast before lunching here again!
