As a chef myself for 45 years + I was very surprised at the standard of food being brought out it was well below par,and the prices too where a matter of concern The cleanliness was another matter Health and Safety would have a field day,The cook/chef needs a swift kick up the butt all we saw was her standing by the bar or disappeareing for a swift smoke every so often,don't bother going there unless standards change

Had breakfast for £8.00, very expensive for very little portions for the price. One mushroom, one and a half bacon, two eggs, two sausages, beans and one piece of toast. Won't be ordering breakfast here ever, unless there's

Populated b6 the worst people in Haverfo. Absolutely the worst. Avoid at all costs. Dreadful drinks and DJs who seem to think their dreadful fat friends can sing when everybsingle shred of evidence says the opposite. It feels like the DJs are gebu8nely thick.

Dropped in when visiting Haverford West. Ordered steak mushroom and onion baguette for £6.95. When it came there were a few small pieces of beef a few strips of onion a a few pieces of mushroom. The baguette was almost empty - see my photos. We felt completely ripped off. Shan't be calling again, that's for sure

Love this place. It's dog and family friendly. Friendly locals. Lovely bar staff and great food. Entertainment some evenings and Sunday Lunch looks fab, must try. Cheers.

Don't be fooled by the rough exterior. For a family is excellent value and a great find. Clean and well spaced interior. Friendly efficient staff and good food cooked and presented well. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed in Haverfordwest for four nights and visited this place 5 times. Always got a lovely, friendly welcome. I was able to bring my little dog and had a couple of nice meals. Also the regulars I met were really friendly. Wish it was my local!

Went for a drink with a friend. Girl at the bar grabbed my friends Id and didn’t sanitise her hands and was extremely rude! Finished my coke and the glass was filthy on the inside, friends pint was flat, went to the bar to tell the girl and was told we was the first to complain ever. Waited 20 minutes for money back on the pint listening to her complain about us less than 6 feet away to someone she was serving. Physically cannot believe how rude the girl at the bar was to paying customers.

Most of the food was un edible, looked like it had been slapped on the plate. Cutlery was dirty, table and high chair was also very dirty then to top it off took the deserts out placed them on the table with still the main plates there and just walked off. Had to ask them to clear the table so we could eat desert without looking at left over food. Will not be going back do not recommend.

What a diabolical disorganised catastrophe. 30/05/21 told by the doorman we can go in but good luck getting a drink. He was not wrong. Was there an hour and no service, I went to the bar 3 times and was told by the mouthy blonde bar maid to wait at my table. Despite observing her serve people who came in after me , I did challenge her about this but she blatantly denied it. We gave up after an hour and left. Will not be going there again , totalky out off their depth.

Always eat here when ever visiting Haverfordwest. Dog friendly sometimes bring my pomeranian some treats over. I have always had good food here and its a decent menu

Not good we ordered food and a hot drink we sent the drinks back as they tasted awful and for the price they charge it was quiet disappointing also had food and that really wasn't much better so shant be going again.

Absolutely appalling service. We waited 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken then 20 minutes for them to actually arrive to the table & to take out food order, We then waited 40 minutes for our food for them to then tell us it’s going to be another 40 minutes. We booked our table in advance!!! We should of been prioritised

Just had food in this pub. It was absolutely disgusting and inedible to add the service Was poor we will never ever return here ever again. The toilets were also disgusting and filthy! I felt filthy walking out !

Visited as we seen the £5 menu that was outside. I had the vegi lasgane and my partner had the special curry. Basically it was like they used all the left over Sunday lunch bits and have made a special menu from it. I had hard new potatoes in my lasagne the food was very tastless and if it wasn't for the many chips we would have gone hungry. Was only £5 so didn't bother to complain, left but won't go back. Also they could do with cleaning the highchairs. On a plus the baby changing was clean and very warm but the place seems to have gone a bit down hill lately.

A great night out with friends, Elvis tribute was great. Busy pub but looked clean but a little run down.

Went in for a pint, the "barrels were empty" for most of the drinks on tap. The barmaid was disinterested in the fact there were no said drinks. My main concern is that I ordered a pint of strongbow darkfruit and the glass it came in was filthy! I requested the glass to be changed and the barmaid gave me a new pint, again, the glass was filthy and as I realised as I had drank half of the pint there was some brown gunk on the inside of the glass, which I thought could have been either blood, food or tobacco. As I was leaving I gave my unfinished pint back to the barmaid and explained that the glass was still dirty - she did not seem to care in the slightest and gave me a funny look and walked away. No refund offered. I would avoid at all costs.

Wasn't expecting to enjoy my meal as much as I did. Reasonably priced, fairly generous portions, fast and friendly service. Would pop in again.

Me and the husband stopped here for a Saturday lunch after attempting to eat in spoons but being unable to find a table. We are so glad the spoons was too busy because the food and value here was amazing! Great burger selection with chips or curly fries, and the portions were huge. The lamb burger was succulent and delicious. Food didn’t take long to come either. Very glad we ate here!

Walking through Haverford West on a Sunday lunchtime, the Friars Vaults was one of the few restaurants open and serving food.From the outside it looked good and inside was a friendly locals pub restaurant.We were made to feel welcome and found an empty table and thats where things started to go down hill.The sunday carvery could only be paid for at the back as you took your meal. The kids meals and drinks needed to be ordered and paid for at the bar, so food arriving at different times and the kids eating 15 minutes after we did. Also, no card payments at either till - only cash - not very 21st century for a large pub. Not overly helpfull staff - simply doing their job for a wage!The sunday carvery was good wholesome food with good meaty gravy, and the kids enjoyed their meals.The restaurant could do with a good clean and the toilets were filthy in places.So a very mixed bag with lots of room for improvement. Shame really.

We entered this pub after seeing a board outside offering discounted meals for pensioners. The meals arrived and we ate them, nothing outstanding presentation poor. On leaving used the toilets disgusting, filthy smelling, dirty toilet paper all over ladies toilet floor and no locks on Gents toilet door. If we had seen this disgusting mess prior to eating we would never have ordered a meal. Never again

Had 3 meals 2 coffees and a Pepsi. Came to £30! Expensive. When food arrived 2 of the meals were ok but the chilli con carne and spiral fries were disgusting. Firstly the presentation was awful. The fries were ok but the chilli tasted really bad. It had a sour taste and smelt worse. And it cost £9.45! What a rip off. Avoid if at all possible.

Came in this morning and the pub looks dirty and disgusting. Dirty toilets and smells bad everywhere.

walked in to the friars to be welcomed with staff shouting at each other one was crying and the one who was shouting at other members of staff was dancing around like a Disney character attitude stunk regulars swearing in front of kids it was like a zoo never again

Title sums it up. It was an OK pub lunch in a pub in the middle of town. Formulaic food at reasonable price. Good beer. Friendly service.

Visited the Friars Vaults for lunch yesterday. Staff were really friendly and very welcoming. Food was really very good value, children really enjoy it. Only point to note for other visitors is they don’t take card, but there is a cash machine just outside if needed.

Had Chicken and Chips in a basket, cheese and onion jacket potato, cheeseburger and kids mini burger. Very tasty, hot and came quickly.

A nice surprise to fin a lovely interior totally unexpected from the outside. We were able to take our dog in. The menu was varied and the snack meals we ordered were more than adequate quantity wise. Service with smile

I came here back in March for food and was not disappointed at all the chicken burger was great. But I came here on june30th and had the Thai prawns... and frankly I was extremely disappointed. You can’t call it Thai prawns if you just defrosted some prawns and put sweet chilli sauce in it. And a tiny salad with chunks of veg. Completely disappointing.

Went to the Friars today for Lunch. I have always had great food there but today was disgusting!! I have veggie pasta bake, which used to be my favourite, but it was basically overcooked pasta with a jar of cheap pasta sauce thrown on top. The sauce had not been cooked! A friend had the small lasagne but it was mainly cheese with a sheet of pasta and a little mince. The soft drinks are definitely watered down and extremely overpriced! The two women serving were rude. Heard a few other customers complaining about them.

Called in today 30/5 as passing through had the steak beautifully cooked sat there on my own and the staff and owner even came over to have a chat as im not familiar with the area steak was cooked exactly how I like it will highly recommend this place to friends family and will even share on my Facebook page will definitely be calling in if I'm ever in the area

Fantastic menu with prices to suit all, I had the budget gammon Chips and peas and found it was enough for lunch at £5.95 It was a good price. Seems a popular venue for lunch especially with families, a small play area for the children too. Only criticism is that on every member of our party wanted to pay by debit card but they don't take cards.

The staff are rude especially the manager who runs the pub. The food is deal and the drinks are really expensive as well can get better food at Wetherspoons and Bristol trader the staff are nicer at the Bristol trader and friendly as well

came here over the bank holiday had 2 steaks both cooked perfectly and plenty of food sat out the beer garden great atmosphere locals very friendly staff very helpful and polite definitely be visiting again

we did get told before hand there was going to be an hour wait on food. we said it was fine. though we waited about 1hr 20mins. when the food came it was lovley though. our dog was allowed in the resturant and they braught him some treats and water. the staff were nice i would return as the food was nice and cheap but hopefully be less of a wait next time

Me and my partner visited this pub for some tea. My partner has never not eaten a meal put infront of him in his life. There is cheap food but then there is bad. It tasted like out of a tin. 2 meals was 18 pound as well so not really that cheap.

Nice, friendly place. The food was delivered quickly, and was really nice. Had Ham, egg and chips, and it was delicious and less than six quid.

If you don't mind paying a little extra then this is the best place in town! Had a few meals here and every time i have been pleasantly surprises. It costs a bit more than say Whetherspoons but it is totally worth it! The food is delicious, staff are friendly and the menu isn't confusing. All round great place for a meal.

Went today for a Sunday dinner and there was a good nine people - We hadn’t booked but after only a ten or so minute wait they was able to have us all seated which is fantastic as we didn’t have to wait to long.

We went here for a works early Christmas party, and boy did we enjoy. The food was absolutely delicious! They did the table up for us with crackers and mints. They even got the karaoke machine out for us. The staff were very friendly and accommodating for us. They went above and beyond for us and did everything they could for us. I would recommend this place to any one!

Four of us had a very nice meal here. Our 8yr old enjoyed the pizza and we had the lamb burgers. Very good size portions and presented nicely. We would return here.

Not sure if they have a ventilation system or not, but the restaurant was hot and stuff and on a cool 50 degree October day. I had the lamb burger without a bun, it was suppose to have a mint sauce, but came with a slice of icky cheese and a mustard sauce. I scraped off the cheese and used the mustard sauce for my chips. The lamb was more of a sausage grind, very smooth almost dough like, still had good flavor, but the texture was unexpected.

Had the pleasure of finding the Vaults after being dragged rounf Haverford by my wife and my Hyper Doberman. Helen & Connar were extremely welcoming and helpfull while the wife did the last shop of the day, leaving me and Riley (My Dobe) to our own devices in a very well proportioned beer garden. Connar gave Riley fresh water without being promted and Helen served my Pint of exceptionally well kept Strongbow to me outside.(try taking a hyper Dobe and a pint through a bar. We decided to eat their and were served with really good value Sizzlers, not their large one but the more than adequate smaller one. We could have eaten inside even with the dog, but hes a little to active for that. But be known, this pub is VERY dog friendly. Many thanks for my service and no hesitation at all recommending the Friars Vaults.

We had popped in to Wetherspoons for lunch and they were so busy there were no tables, a shame as it was Steak club. So we went back to the Fryers Vaults. The Coors Light was a cheap £1.99 and we ordered Ham egg and chips twice. The food came up super fast despite it being very busy. My egg was broken and as I was eating it I found an disturbing black patch in the yolk. I informed the waiter and asked for a new egg. He popped back a moment later to say he had ordered me another egg and that he had paid for it? Very strange, by the time the new egg came I had eaten the chips and the ham.

I ordered a small fish and chips (baked potato instead of chips actually), paid, settled down, and waited! After 30 min, I inquired and was told that there were 3 orders before me and it would take another 10 min. This actually became 20. The restaurant was far from full, wonder how they manage when it Is!

Came here for a quick lunch and had lasagna. Wasn't greatly impressed, did not look very appetising and salad was yellow. Not the best lasagna I've tasted before. However lovely staff and clean, may return for a different meal

Came here for a roast was lovely ,staff working where lovely very busy but still had a smile and the welcoming politeness which you don't get in many places. Spacious,clean and happy staff Will definitely return again.

We visited here for lunch yesterday. We were all hungry after a 7 mile walk and we were not disappointed. I had the double burger which was superb. The wife had a single cheese burger with twister fries and she also loved it. My parents had the homemade lasagne and they both loved it. The place was very clean and busy. The bar and waiting staff were all very friendly and helpful. 4 drinks and 4 mains was only £42. Superb value. We would definitely recommend.

We come here most Sundays as it's our favourite place to go with lovely staff whom make us welcome each time , we did miss Chrissy on our visit this week . love the choice of meats and lovely fresh vegetables with choice of potatoes , (roasts are the best). Some nice desserts on the 2 course deal at a great price.

Came here with a group of work colleagues (Monday) foodWas amazing had the budget meal thinking it would be small but we where wrong . Both lady's working polite, service from Both with a smile and waitress happy to bring us extra sauce sachets over. Can't say one bad word about the place to be honest it was very clean, meal was fab great portion sized , staff on shift absolutely lovely , toys supplied to keep the kids happy till there food came , won't get this anywhere else in the area. Ordered a triple burger which was great until I found plastic in the burger, I returned the food and not even a sorry, I then asked for a full refund and was met with IT WILL COME OUT OF MY POCKET by the bar staff (still no sorry)I finally got a refund but will never eat there again food terrible service even worse

Popped in after a visiting at the hospital. Staff friendly, clean tables and seating areas, reasonably priced, the food was hot, well presented, and exactly what you expected for the pricing. Beer is well kept, and served well. Only criticism would be the use of sauce sachets, or atleast vinegar ones. But this comes with the territory for a busy place, would visit again.

Come here with family all the time it's the best pub/restaurant in town. Walking in you will find it quite dark , always met by cheerful girls whom always make the time and effort to have a quick chat. Clean spacious relaxed place in town with a great meal at a great price.

We go to the Friars most Sunday's for our lunch, the food is lovely and so are the staff. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a tasty Sunday lunch. Keep up the good work guys ☺️ X

We first arrived to the venue to notice outside was littered with empty glasses and bottles and even a bra on the floor immediately outside of the main entrance. We had pre booked our table for five so was surprised to find a table wasn't ready for us upon our arrival so they just pushed a chair up to a four person table and left us to it, they didn't even bother to get the extra cutlery needed so I had to just grab some from another table myself. We had to pay upfront for the meal which came to £31.50, I handed the lady £40 and after a couple of minutes I had to tell her how much change I was due, they were also rude and completely unwelcoming. The food was terrible, beef was very dry, parsnips were the worst I'd ever had, the stuffing balls were so hard I struggled to cut through them with a knife only to find them to be virtually inedible, they ran out of Yorkshire puddings and the vegetables were very watery as they were sat in hot water to keep them up to temperature. The toilets were unclean and the floor was very slippery in the men's room. Drinks and food had to be paid for separately and they only accept cash payment. The only positive I can give is the lady serving the drinks was very polite and professional otherwise a terrible experience, will never eat there again.

Atmoshere quiet at time of visit (17.30). P.A. system was turned down (thank fully) without asking, by staff. Food well presented, hot and cooked as requested. Service by staff exceptional- well mannered, pleasant and we were addressed as madam, and sir ( and not "guys"). Food had to ordered at the bar, and paid for at time of ordering.Also run a loyalty scheme with no closing date,i.e. if on holiday start it this year- holiday next year then carry on using it. All dishes, tables and floor clean. Highly recommended.

There are no places in Haverforderst centre that you are able to get a home cooked Sunday dinner other than this place - and we are so glad we close to eat there due to excellent trip advisor reviews. Excellent quality meats & all freshly cooked veg. Staff were lovely and landlord really helpful who directed us to best pub for my boyfriend to watch sport. Will definately go back if in the area again. Top food! Thank you!

On a raining day in Haverfordwest we made a quick decision to pop in the Friars Vaults for lunch. We managed to find tables for two families. The was a 30 minute wait for lunch which was ok. The portion sizes were great and the food was good. It was busy, as soon as a table became free it was quickly filled.

Good menu with lots of choice and LOTS of burger combinations, staff are friendly and there's plenty of room, only problem is on a few occasions when I've ordered a burger I've had the wrong one come out, which is always similar but it's cheaper on the menu, but always had a good meal here, and they do curly fries which is always a bonus!

Popped in for lunch during a short shopping trip. Our little boy was very happy with his kids meal and cup drink (he would give 5 stars for his nuggets and chips) and the service was good and the waitress very pleasant. I ordered the battered fish and chips and was happy to be provided with three choices of fish not just cod. I had the plaice but was a little disappointed with it being cooked in the skin too, I would have been happy with skin for grilled fish but find it strange for a battered fillet. Also the portion was absolutely massive- way too big, I couldn't even comprehend how to start eating it and felt as though I was leaving a lot which made me feel bad. I would have enjoyed the meal more if it was half the size. It looked like I was given two fish battered together. It was nice to be given salad as well as beans/peas.My husband liked his 'Welsh Dragon' sausages but they weren't as flavourful as he has had in other eateries.

We have been to the friar's about six times in the last few months and it seems to get better every time we go there the carvery is very good value the beef melts in your mouth would highly recommend it the staff are all so friendly and helpful our regular from now on. From the Cardiff gang

After a 6 hour drive to our holiday destination we just tried this out on the off chance and we weren't disappointed. There was a lot of choice on the menu (including a budget section with cheaper meals). When our meals arrived they were really big portions, my husband got the Plaice and chips and for once was grumbling that he was stuffed after haha. The staff are friendly and the pub is clean and I didn't think the prices were too expensive. It has a small beer garden but unfortunately not with a view of the river....but not a major problem. We would visit again (and maybe we will before the end of our hols)

Me and my family popped in midday while browsing in the town centre. The kids had extensive options for food. My partner had one of the daily deals, I had a baguette and salad. Very tasty and including drinks, the cost was very competitive. Highly recommended, the bar lady complimented my son for helping clear the tables which made his day.

We have walked passed this establishment many times and have thought about going in for food. It has a little front but when you enter it is like a Tardis. What a lovely place the food is fantastic and the staff are so friendly and make a real effort to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend a visit. We went for our second visit today for the Sunday lunch and it didn't failTo impress us we will definitely be returning for another visit soon.

We went to this place when visiting Haverfordwest on a rainy day. The place seems small from the outside, but is quite large in the inside.Pretty much like a regular pub, but the food is very good value. Good burger selection and option for smaller size mains which was good to see.Twisted chips were very tasty!

Always our first choice when we're out and wanting food. Steaks are amazing! Never had a bad meal there. Staff are so friendly. Great for family meals. Can't recommend this place enough!!!!

What a fantastic pub looks small from outside but is large inside The staff were so friendly and helpful the meals were large and good quality the steaks were to die for so tender also the chicken was great we always went to weather spoons when we come down west wales not anymore if you want a cracking meal this is the place to go be hard to get meals like this in CardiffR

I visit Haverfordwest as I have family there and I always make a couple of trips to Friars for their huge meals.I'm a big guy and I like my big portion sizes and this place does not let me down. They provide you with a huge plate of food and they don't give up quality for quantity either, the food is a great standard and it's very reasonably priced.Despite it being a pub I have never had any issue with loudness or distractions when going there to enjoy a meal. The dining area is separate and has a nice atmosphere to it.The staff are friendly, the table service is good and the food is very quick.I highly recommend the Gammon with cheese and BBQ sauce.

We weren't sure that we would be able to get in because a member of our party was in a wheelchair but it was fine. The tables were well spaced so that even on a busy day it is easy to move around. The OAP meal - two courses for £ 5 was amazing value. It was a huge meal - too much for our OAP to eat by herself. The steak sizzler was great and truly sizzling - just what was needed on a cold day. The staff were lovely and helpful - we have a new favourite place to eat in Hwest!

The staff were all friendly and hand helped out a lot. The food was plentiful good quality - nothing superbly special but still very enjoyable. The cheese on the cheese burger was proper cheddar and not the usual flavorless stuff served. We all really enjoyed the lunch and would go back again.

Nice place with friendly staff . Option to order smaller portion of food but enough as adult lunch. Only peculiar thing is money collected first and food to arrive later. No receipt unless you ask for .

Went there whilst visiting the town with family. My husband and I had the chicken special and both agree it was the best chicken meal we've ever had in a pub. Wish I'd asked for the recipe. My daughter had one of the burgers and really enjoyed, as did my grandchildren. Will definitely go there again.

On arriving the place looked very appealing and clean however when we decided to have food nobody offered us any drinks which you had to pay at the bar for before hand and could not pay for the meal at the same time by card, only by cash. When we went up to get food the plates were cold whilst trying to decide what we wanted from the deck we had to pay before hand before receiving our meal. Which was very annoying!!! The food was cold with it just sitting there, we had to ask for more veg as the tins were empty and they were not checking to see if they needed topping up or just checking incase. Gravy was stone cold as it was from the bottom of the pan yet again not even checking to see if there was more gravy needed.We sat down to eat our food we didn't even receive a meal check to see if everything was ok and everything was not ok. I would never advise someone to visit this place, I will not be returning as I was not satisfied with the meal and the service we received!!!!!
