Friar Tucks Chip Shop Tiverton in Mid Devon

I was hungry after a long day & it had been a while since I called in so thought I’d try it out but the fish & chips were awful. The fish - or at least the batter was overcooked/burnt & heavy. Some of the chips were part cooked. I should have complained/taken it back as it didn’t look good when it was being served/wrapped up.

Customer service was spot on but the food was shocking, all batter was undercooked and soggy, sausages were over cooked, asked for just salt and all the food had way too much on and the chips were just as bad as everything else. Unfortunately the shop closed before we could take the food back

Just had haddock and chips. The best batter I have ever had in a chip shop, very light and crisp, what you would expect from a fine dining venue. All cooked o perfection. Will be a regular from now on. Strongly recommend you try.

This is a regular portion of chips, it was going to be even smaller if I didn’t remind him it was a regular chips. Portions have changed since change of ownership. Any other chip shop is double the size for the same cost

we ordered small fish and chips, we got cod bits instead i asked about the small cod they said they didnt have any ???

Excellent freshly fried chips and curry sauce was lush, used before but decided to use again owner was helpful and food was better than before certainly willgo again vast improvement

Best fish and chips we have had for a while. Fish very tasty and cooked to order, not at all greasy. Lovely chips with very big portions. By far, the best chippy in Tiverton.

We usually go to the cellar for fish and chips but it was closed so we tried this place. I'm glad we did because they were quick and very good. We noticed they stand the fish on it's side when it comes out of the friar. This meant it drained the excess fat much better and the batter was crispy rather than soggy.

This is a well known eatery amongst locals in Tiverton...is it worth a visit? Well if you're prepared to wait and you haven't placed too big an order then I would say save your time and money by ordering elsewhere.From my own personal experience the service is slow, the two members of staff working that evening weren't that bothered to get my small order to me with any haste. It took them 15 minutes to wrap, I was taking my order home after a long day, and the shop itself was clean if basic in what they served and the menu not that inspiring but...If you're looking for a quick bite, a small bag of chips wouldn't tax the hardly overworked staff, I would recommend you give this place a miss.

Great fish n chips I use it min twice a week. I would advise any one wanting a good bag of chips or a really tasty fish to go to friar tucks.

18:00 hoy tuve mi primera y última parte de eglefino y patatas fritas. El abadejo estaba congelado luego maltratada y cayó en la freidora. Al llegar a casa la pasta exterior estaba pasada y la pasta inmediatamente por el pescado estaba sin cocer. Las patatas fritas no estaban mucho mejor, en general, no es una experiencia satisfactoria. No había señal de un capitán freidora o cualquier premios lo que cada. "La calidad cero"

When i lived in Devon i always went here every Friday. great value for money and quick service. Years on i can honestly say i have not had chips that compare to here.

Popped in by chance using Google maps to find the the owers busily fulfilling a huge order, but was served quickly with fresh fish and chips. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

Tiverton has many choices of fish and chip shops but this is for sure my favourite. They serve excellent tasting food, with good prices in comparision to some others in town. Always go here for a battered sausage and chips!

Family owned and run for many years. Very big portions and always very friendly staff. Very clean and as the title says the best in Tiverton.

Utilizamos un par de veces, no está mal, las porciones son un poco pequeñas. Nos dieron nuestra orden equivocado ligeramente, pero deberíamos haber comprobado antes de que nos fuéramos, así que parcialmente culpa nuestra y no nos la habían cobrado prenda que se había perdido. El personal sirve parecía un poco jóvenes, pero era amable. No es el mejor F+C probado, pero no es lo peor, así que promedio.
