We have just eaten what will be our last ever take away from Fresh Oriental. Food was an hour and fifty minutes late. We ordered rice and chicken curry amongst other dishes. When it finally arrived, we were short of the curry to go with the rice, and were told we didn't order the curry. Food was poor, the whole experience was extremely disappointing.

Cannot rate it enough ❣️ every single meal we've had from here has been absolutely amazing ☺️

Food is okay.. if you get it. Got my order wrong, called, let them know! Got told it must’ve been a communication issue due to numbers (from the menu) over the phone. Got asked for an extra charge(which would’ve been the price difference, all good) agreed to pay, had to give the wrong order back.. only for them to send the driver out with what should’ve been my correct order now. But guess what!! It wasn’t!!! So from mushrooms & baby corn and an extra charge I ended up with chicken chow main when all I wanted was chow mein with chicken& green peppers in blackbean sauce :( Not happy!

Been using this place for years and always found their food of high quality but tonight all the dishes we ordered looked different, 2 of the dishes were not what we ordered and felt like it all came from another Chinese takeaway. The dishes we ordered are not the same as previous experiences. It wasn’t to bad but not what you expect from this place. Bit disappointing really as always looked forward to a fresh oriental takeaway!

Unacceptable to place an order at 19:10, phone at 20:40 and ask where your food is and to be told they are closed due to staffing issues and our money has been refunded. I will not be using again!

Update new people in there, change of name. Food is not as good, served at counter by children taking orders. The chicken balls are terrible and one of my favourites. I've persevered but orders are quite often missing items and food not as good as previously I'm afraid.2023 Best Chinese in Rayleigh food is freshly prepared and always tastes great, not greasy, staff are friendly and helpful. I've tried all sorts off the menu and it's highly recommended 2019

Worst Kung Poo Chicken I have ever had. Just like eating lumps of very sweet rubber, and the sauce was as runny as water. The rice was thick with starch with and very gooey. How people can charge this much for such substandard food is beyond me. AVOID!

Last time ordered for was horrible satay chicken was not chicken breasst chewy fatty meat yuk chicken green pepper black bean shame won't be ordering again very disappointing not cho used to order every week not cheap to order won't be ordering again shame

In 2023 it has gotten better and the food quality is good 👍 all of put stuff are fresh (and if there are any problems call use and well sort it)

Ordered for 5 of us this evening and every meal was awful. The Duck was just crispy skin and no meat, the chicken balls were well over cooked and tasted like processed chicken, the satay chicken was very watery and not cooked enough and even the chips were way over cooked and were like crisps. We have been using this Chinese for several years but tonight will be the very last time.

In our opinion the quality of food provided is very poor. We couldn't bear to feed it to our children and ended up taking it back to Fresh Oriental to show them why the food was of a very poor standard. Very little if any meat content in the dishes, drenched in bright red gloop, full of sugar, fat and batter. The duck was extremely dry and the pancakes were stale. Unfortunately, this is not a takeaway venue we will venture back to again, which is a shame as we always endeavour to support local businesses.

After being told 30 mins..waited an hour,called to see what was going on to be told all orders have been sent out! After waiting to find out what had gone on.."oh the receipt was lost,we'll get it cooked and sent out"... nothing else but another wait like i have just ordered.Nothing in a way of apology! Was our regular chinese and has been for years,have noticed quality gradually dropping over the last few months and now this. Will be finding a new place after this!

Mostly very good and tasty,but like most places sometimes has a wobble!!

Saturday evening. Quick service (~45mins). They'd missed an item off the order, but delivered the missing item within 15mins. Food was hot and filling. Great service, no qualms. (PS. And they take electronic payment, unlike others in Rayleigh 😊)

Nice veg, horrible pumped up watery chicken

Can honestly say this is the worst Chinese tske away I've had. Duck starter was fine, however chowmeins rice, squid like cardbosrd, beef in black bean was like rubber and tastkess all inedible. Chicken balls were nice so only 1 Happy person at our table of 5. Biggest waste of money, would definitely not go back

I wouldn’t even give this restaurant a review that’s how bad it was the squid was like sticks off the ground or could even be described as cardboard it was dry and no flavour the chow main was like spaghetti had no flavour and was dry the beef I was chewing for minutes on end and I didn’t even make a dent in it it was tough chewy and I wouldn’t feed it to my dog it was awful the sweet and sour sauce was like jelly I would recommend this place at all worst Chinese I have ever had absolutely repugnant and I paid £80 for this

Ordered and the beef was bearly cooked you could not even eat it squid was no even a squid more like end of a tree the sweet and sour sauce was like jello chips were like mush the chow main was literal spaghetti and it is offensive to feed it to your dog

We ordered a family takeaway as we used to eat here a whe back then the standards started to slip so we stopped. but after seeing ratings and not having for along time decided to have another try . We had crispy duck starters which were average but not the best then it was our dinner!! I can honestly say its the worst food I have ever paid for and did not eat . Salt chilli squid was like cardboard, couldn't even get thru the beef after chewing relentlessly, chow mein had no taste at all this all went straight in the bin! very very very disappointed 😞

Disgusting service, food was supposed to take an hour to be delivered but instead took close to 2 hours. After calling the store we were told that the food would be on the way and that'd they'd call us back as to why it was so late but we never received a call. Fresh oriental used to be enjoyable but they have now seriously dropped in quality. DO NOT EAT HERE.

I’ve not had a Chinese for ages so wasn’t sure where to order from. The meal we had from Fresh Oriental was excellent. The portion sizes were good, the food was flavoursome and not at all greasy. We will order from here again Delivery person stood well away from door and was wearing a face mask.

Have had quite a few takeaways from here in the past but hadn’t used for a while. Placed an order Friday night, advised delivery would be about an hour, no problem with that and it arrived just on the hour. Unfortunately the food wasn’t great. The salt and chilli squid was about 75% white onion and 25% squid (and I think I’m being generous here). The sweet and sour chicken balls looked (and tasted) as if they’d been deep fried, left to cool, then heated in a microwave as they were certainly not crispy. I’d say soggy batter. The vegetable chow mein was okay but but more noodles than veg. I won’t be ordering from here again in the near future.

Just ordered three dishes for collection I live less than a mile from the chinese so 1minute in the car. Duck pancake rolls ok and hot (keep in mind they are in a paper bag ..no insulation) crispy shredded beef and special chowmein stone cold really cold and they are in foil containers. First and last time I will use them. Not impressed.

Made me wait nearly 2 hours before telling me they couldn't deliver ruined my wife's birthday and our not I will never use this place again

I understand that takeaway orders are busy at the moment, and I accepted a 2 hour wait for food, however, after 2 and a half hours of waiting I called and the delivery hadn't been made and they refused to help. 10pm with no food and no other takeaways open. I will never order from this chinese again, they were not willing to put anything right. There is a lot of competition around, you would think customers would be treated better. Terrible service.

The food is without a doubt the best in the area when it comes to Chinese, furthermore, fairly refreshing to note that they take cards, unlikely the VAT dodging “cash only guys”. Keep up the good work, deserves 5 stars.

First time we had placed a home delivery this evening, and our take-a-way meal was very good chow mien & there satay sauce was superb. Worst Chinese I have had since going to Fresh Oriental every thing tasted odd won't be going back after many years

We have ordered approximately six times from Fresh Oriental, always good quality, never had any missing dishes and always ready on time. Lived in Rayleigh for over 20 years and this is our Number 1.

It was ok. Prawns were good. Chicken was an odd texture. Cheap

Had the worst meal tonight, we are regulars to fresh oriental over the last 4 years.We won’t be ordering ever again. Food has deteriorated over the past 6-9 months. Food was so bland, no flavour. Pork Chinese style watered down sauce, salt n chilli chicken (minus the chicken) and dryAnd so on..Need to find an authentic Chinese

Struggled to find a Chinese I liked since I moved in from various bad experiences.However, FINALLY fresh oriental has come through for me. Quick delivery, can pay by card if needed (via telephone), great portion sizes (I ate it over two nights) and it actually tasted like Chinese !!!!!!!!!!! In rayleigh it is rare for sweet n sour to taste of anything that isn't water, and it finally does hereHOORAY!

The food was absolutely amazing. The customer service was excellent too. Would definitely recommend and go there again, which I already do weekly😋🥡

Extensive menu to suit everyone's choice of individual dishes. We telephoned our order and it was delivered quicker than expected, nice and hot and plentiful. We will certainly make this our favourite from now on!

I have tried every single Chinese in Rayleigh, and this one tops them all. Lovely people who work there, fast delivery, piping hot FRESH food and never disappointed. Have been getting Chinese from here for the past 2 years. I highly recommend if you’re thinking of ordering from here !!!

First Class.We have tried again after many years & well pleased with our return. Our usual supplier has changed hands & now is not so good.

Eaten here 3 times now and it is decent. Sweet and sour chicken is really good. As are the duck pancakes. Well priced. Nice service too.

What has happened to this takeaway... have always ordered from here and it’s usually nice. The last delivery I had all had to go in the bin as horrible and also cold. Have gave it another go tonight and the chicken dish I ordered was all pink and not cooked, when i phoned to complain I was told to microwave it and when I explained I don’t have a microwave they said heat through in a pan or under the grill... err no thanks I’m feeding it to my children will never order from here again.

Having read the reviews i telephoned to place an order. They take credit cards. As we did not have a menu I ordered save staples. Crispy seaweed, special fried rice, mushroom chow mien, curry sauce and chips, and sweet & sour chicken. I did ask for beef and tomatoes but was told they do not do any tomato dishes. So we ordered beef and black bean.

Lived in Rayleigh for over 18 years, and since the Oriental Inn closed, no adequate replacement IMO.

Always have a lovely takeaway from here, their delivery times are accurate and their set menu for 1 is the best around. They also remember your address from your phone number too!

To be honest we have stuggled with all of the other Chinese takeaways in Rayleigh and Hullbridge as we have found their meals to be too salty and on a couple of occasions unedible!

Lovely food. Order from here a lot and the staff over the phone are always friendly and helpful. Food always tastes good and I personally always prefer it to other Chinese takeways I try elsewhere.

They say you get what you pay for and this would be fair in the case of this takeaway. The food, from our experiences, 3/4 takeaways now is superb. Excellent in terms of taste and flavour, good sized portions which aren't "padded out" with excessive amounts of peppers, onions etc..

Use them and have been using them for a long time. Great service and great take-away, not greasy. Always tastes fresh. Friendly service.

After living in Rayleigh for years and various Chinese takeaways which were hit or miss, we discovered this gem via this website. What can we say fantastic food and no leftovers. We will be making this our number one choice from now and recommending to family and friends.

Person behind the counter is always friendly and helpful even though she seems to be running ALL the orders.. Food has always been tasty leaving me wanting more, but portions are big enough to not need more. Always like going back. They use msg but I've over head people being able to request not having added.

Lovely food. Polite service. It's advertised that it delivers but on several occasions, Friday and Saturday evenings they don't answer phone. I know they are working as I drive past and see staff there. Very unreliable service for delivery - shame.

Great food, great service, speedy delivery....... usually in the time they say. If I was to give a negative it would be the MSG that is used in all Chinese food, when we ask they leave it out.

I love this place. Food is fresh, nicely cooked! NO crap over used oil turning food brown! Rice shouldn't be brown unless it's brown rice! Kitchen is clean. People are warm and friendly and prices are very competitive! I am a fussy cow and only buy Chinese takeaway from here!

Me and my mate decided we would order a chinese and he recommended this place, so I decided why not try it. He was so right when he said. We tried to phone at first but the line was constantly busy, so we ended up ordering instore, bare in mind it was a saturday night and we thought we would be waiting a long time. Although the place was booming with customers, the wonderful, friendly lady on the front counter was very quick to take our order and confirmed it with us after.

Ordered three Chinese meals for takeaway. Cantonese style chicken consisted of bland sauce, flat chicken which had obviously been boiled and lots of onion and a few strips of green pepper. Vegetable rice noodles bland ,mushrooms which were obviously tinned. Prawn rice noodles again bland and tasteless. Very disappointed and waste of money.

Love this take away always spot on everytime excellent value for money if u dont want to spend a lot u can get a meal for 1 but feeds 2 for under £10's and its really nice
