Great home made burger sure would be amazing place on a sunny day to sit outside . Small place inside good service - prob only visit again when hot n sunny day

Came here for a meal before going to a comedy club and what an awesome little place. The staff were friendly, the food was amazing and the drinks came in seconds. I had the burger and my wife had the mushroom special and I would be back again tonight if we weren’t going home If you go to Liverpool make sure you eat here.

Excellent menu friendly staff. Went for the onion rings as a side, best I have had. Had the French burger and son had cheese burger. Both stated it was the best burger we have had. Would happily rush back. Highly recommended

After a night out in Hope Street we needed some sustenance and were lucky to be able to get a table at short notice. I can honestly say that all of the positive reviews are well earned. I had a cheeseburger and my wife had the salmon fish cakes both excellent with the best onion rings I have ever eaten. Service was fast and attentive without being overbearing, Will definitely not be our last visit.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend and have definitely found a new favourite. This was easily the best burgers we have had in Liverpool and the cheesecake was phenomenal. Overall a great atmosphere with lovely, attentive staff. We can't wait to go back!

I came with my boyfriend to have lunch and i've loved It!!! Beautiful place, really good food and the service is very nice, and they have a lovely garden. If we come back to Liverpool, we Will come here to eat.

Contrary to what a few of the reviews say, this place should have 5 stars all round, so ignore them! If you consider the standard of cooking and levels of taste, then the price is well matched and cannot be argued, the wings are on a different level and this is well known. All the staff are great, not overbearing, polite and attentive - great selection of drinks and great & interesting selection on the menu. Overall, an absolute gem and it’s not a fluke that it’s been going for so long, it’s because it one of the best places to eat in Liverpool, by a country mile!

we came here on a Saturday night booked a month in advance i had sticky sausage links and a Rueben sandwich it sounded nice but have to say it was great my wife had salmon cakes and a Rueben sandwich and she loved it great food and a nice venue would definitely go back

We first came to Free State Kitchen in June last year and it has become the restaurant we go to nearly every time we come to Liverpool. This visit was as good as ever. The food is always excellent and service is fantastic. This time I chose the double French onion burger which was very tasty and made from high quality beef. The blueberry cheesecake was great, too. The staff are friendly and welcoming the restaurant has a special atmosphere. We'll be back again before long!

Updating my review as it's been a while. Free State Kitchen is still hands down my favourite place for a burger in Liverpool. I've been coming here since it opened. It was amazing then and it's only got better with time. It's got a great menu from the starters right through to the puddings. The chicken wings with blue cheese sauce (optional celery) are divine and I can, and have, happily eat a whole large bowl to myself. All of the burgers are fantastic and that's before you see what great special of the week is. They don't overload their burgers with too many toppings like some places do and they're all the better for it. The fries are done to perfection as well, soft with a little crunch and some rosemary over them Its a great place to eat and even better when it's warm and you can enjoy their garden. Decent range of drinks too. Can't recommend it enough.

Always a pre-match ritual to eat here. Love the fried chicken burger and great selection of beers too. Also recommend the hot wings.

This was my first trip to Free State Kitchen. I had the American cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. The burger was decent and definitely held its own against other, more expensive establishments serving burgers. The fries and onion rings were alright. I was most impressed by the waitress, who was absolutely sensational. I didn't ask for her name but she was a lady with long dark hair. Her service was top notch and she was friendly and welcoming. I don't usually tip unless I'm impressed with the service, but in this case I was definitely impressed. She thoroughly deserved the tip. Please pass this feedback along to her if possible. Thanks.

I went before going to the Hot Water Comedy Club and it was superb. Quality ingredients, friendly staff, and a superb Guinness. There's a reason it's won so many awards, it's superb.

This restaurant is a firm favourite of ours and our most recent visit didn't disappoint. We were warmly welcomed and seated quickly. Service was friendly and attentive. We ordered mac & cheese with bacon and chilli cheese fries, and a biscoff sundae and hot chocolate for dessert. All were excellent - tasty, satisfying food done at its best. Consistently excellent food, lovely atmosphere and great service.

Called in here on the off chance with the other half a couple of weeks ago and from the minute we entered we were made to feel welcome. I personally felt like we were family and not just another customer. This is definitely my new favourite place 😍 The food was amazing and the Coca-Cola is served in glass bottles 😁 Please never change the way you treat your customers. You and your team have it spot on! Absolutely phenomenal x

Easily the best burger place in Liverpool. Hands down, super delicious. Proper hearty food. Loved it. This place is a gem.

We don't get to Liverpool very often, but when we do we try and get to FSK. This time didn't disappoint, as usual we were greeted by friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. As we had our dog with us we had originally booked a table outside (after checking we were okay to bring her), however with it being possibly the wettest day of the year and fairly quiet in the restaurant (we'd gone for an early tea) we were asked if we'd prefer to be seated inside. My husband chose the current special which is the beer cheese dip burger and I had the double french onion. Having learned from previous visits we didn't add any sides to the order as the burgers and fries are generally enough for us. The beer cheese dip was a generous serving size which meant there was plenty for me to pinch, and was really tasty - great for dipping chips or burger bun in. The double French went down a treat, and is up there with one of my favourite burgers. Unfortunately I did have to leave a few fries as I was totally stuffed, always a shame as I do really enjoy them. We both had a pint of the Malaga Victoria Beer with our meals and the total was just under £43. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Liverpool.

AMAZING. Amazing food - beer cheese sauce has to be tried to be believed. Staff could not have been friendlier despite having a LARGE group and our 5 and others in - it’s relatively compact inside, but all to the good. Prices, quality, service, all some of the best we’ve had in recent years.

We booked in advance because we were bringing our youngest who has to remain in s as big wheelchair. Access to the back was given. Nina and all the staff were brilliant; ensuring we were comfortable and reassuring us all was okay. Food was delicious and service was great. Would definitely recommend

It was our third visit to Free State Kitchen and the burgers and service were excellent as usual - that is why we keep coming back. This time we also had the apple pie made from home-grown apples. This was an unexpected and absolutely fantastic addition to the restaurant's offering.. We will be returning in apple season next year but aim to come back many times before then.

What a place! Gorgeous little place lovely ambience. Food is unbelievable, so tasty. Burgers were absolutely delicious. Desserts were amazing especially the brownie (possibly the nicest brownie I've ever ate) Lotus Sundae also amazing. Just a lovely evening was had. All the staff are lovely, so accommodating and approachable. Brilliant place brilliant service. Very reasonable price wise also for such nice food.

Had the classic burger, and it was good. Feel like the burger could do with a bit more seasoning. It came with rosemary chips, which were nice. Paid £12 for the burger, which I feel maybe it's slightly expensive as it wasn't too filling, but I left comfortable. Staff were nice and welcoming though.

What a gem! Even allowing for the gluten free options, this is one of those family-feel, unassumingly remarkable eateries. The staff are warm and welcoming, the food delicious and great value. There's a community feel here and given that from the kerbside this place is nearly invisible, it's clear that locals find and feast in this treasure and I hope this review ensures it gets plenty of new customers and fans.

Lovely food, great atmosphere & service. Great staff are employed here. I especially want to mention Tom who guided me to a table, I'm visually impaired his care & attention to the needs of the customers is absolutely wonderful. This is a hidden gem of Liverpool, that serves the best burgers. It's a great place to eat & drink either on your own or with friends & family.

Really enjoyable lunch, the burgers were delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful when looking for suitable dishes to avoid food intolerances (gluten and lactose). It was a little cold to use the garden, but that's certainly somewhere I'll try when I return.

The chicken was really good, as were the caramelized onions. But the macaroni and cheese should be renamed “mustard and cheese”. Way too heavy on the mustard and not enough cheese flavor. Sticky floor inside. Great atmosphere in the beer garden.

Staff here are superb and really diverse! For me, a proper staple of how to run and staff a business. Sunny beer garden is fantastic, can vouch, as sat in it right now!

Me and hubby had a lovely afternoon sitting in the garden in the sunshine. Food gorgeous, could not fault staff, so knowledgeable about menu, and so friendly and helpful. The garden is so relaxing. We would highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed.

I haven’t been here for a few years, so was interested to see if it was still as good. We came on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside in the garden. Our waiter was brilliant. Really friendly and helpful and steered us in the right direction when we couldn’t decide which burgers to choose. The burgers were amazing and I like that they ask you how you want it cooked. Fries and sides were super tasty - we had two sides to share between the four of us washed down with a nice bottle of wine. We were too full to want any desserts unfortunately! 😢 I certainly won’t leave it as long till I come here again. Can highly recommend.

We visited Free State Kitchen for a work event. We had pre ordered food due to a large group booking (20+) and everything was absolutely perfect, and all modifications had been catered to. The staff were really organised, down to the first drinks people had pre ordered. They were also really friendly and welcoming. The beer garden is stunning.

Nice and compact. Friendly service and very observant as I asked for no mustard on my hotdog and unfortunately it turned up with mustard. The person who took my order spotted the mistake immediately and had it replaced before I could make a complaint. I sat inside as there was a storm brewing but I will return to try and dine in the garden as it looked lovely out there. The blueberry cheesecake was just perfect. Thanks for a pleasant experience.

Visited: 5pm 29/01/2023 Ordered: Double Deluxe Burger with Extra Bacon, and a large portion of Frank's & Blue Wings. I've waited along time to try FSK, and now I'm wondering why I have wasted my life not eating here sooner. OMG, by far one of if not now the best burger I've ever had, and I likes a buwger. Cooked how you like it (medium rare), and pack top to bottom with flavour, texture and joy. The fries should have come with a health warning though, as they are seriously addictive. Pipping hot, seasoned to perfection and crispy crisp, amazing. The moound of Frank's & Blue wings were spot on too. Crispy outside, tender and juicy in the middle, and smothered in Frank's Hot Sauce. Looking forward to ticking off the rest of the menu asap, highly recommend.
