Frankie's Fish & Chips in East Hampshire

Visitor to the area. Just had the most amazing piece of skate fish freshly cooked to order. Pleasant staff and lovely dine in option available. Highly recommended!!!

After exactly one hour of waiting for my delivery, I called Frankies to ask what was happening (the app had initially told me it would be 20 minutes, what a joke). Wow, they could certainly learn a lot about customer service. A young girl who I can only assume was new had no idea what was going on, was having a three-way conversation with me and a man I presume was her boss in the background. The girl told the man ‘This customer has already been waiting for an hour’ and the man didn’t have the decency or courtesy to come to the phone himself and just said loudly and rudely ‘Tell them we have no drivers.’ Erm, as though that’s the customer’s fault? As I said to the girl before ending the call, they shouldn’t accept orders when they know they don’t have drivers and that the way they handled the call was so unprofessional and downright rude. I ended the call saying I would either like a partial refund or a gesture of goodwill or I’d be leaving a review. Delivery finally arrived just under 1 1/2 hours, zero apology, zero refund, zero gesture of goodwill. Portions small for the £22 cost of one meal (for merely one battered sausage, fishcake, chips and sauces), food lukewarm and chips hard, rubbery and far from fresh. So here’s my review. Check out my screenshot in the photo gallery for the times as proof. I’ll never use this place again, they don’t value their customers and are rude to them on the phone when they ask for an update after an hour’s wait. I’ll make sure I tell my many local contacts too. I’ll stick to the fish and chip shop in Station Road, Liphook. They couldn’t be more different… always so welcoming, friendly, make you feel so appreciated for your custom and are almost a THIRD OF THE PRICE OF FRANKIES 😂🤷‍♀️ Avoid Frankie’s at all costs. They don’t appreciate your custom and won’t apologise when your order takes 1 1/2 hours to arrive… and even then arrives lukewarm cos it’s been sitting around so long! Ungrateful, unappreciative and not worthy of your custom. Update: 10 January: no direct contact whatsoever from the owner despite him having my contact details… just his response below blaming Deliveroo in their entirety! Deliveroo weren’t anything to do with the way I was spoken to by Frankie’s on the phone or the poor quality of the food when it finally DID arrive just under 1 1/2 hours later! Says it all that he’s solely blaming Deliveroo 😮😂 Frankie’s have only had 2 reviews in the past 4 weeks and they’re both bad, mine and one other person’s. In fact, they haven’t had a single good written review for over 3 MONTHS on here (check it out yourself) and yet STILL can’t be polite to their customers or show any willingness to resolve complaints, just blaming Deliveroo instead 😮😂🤷‍♀️ You really need to start improving your customer service, Frankie’s, and appreciating your customers more when members of the public are the ones to thank for your business and income! Maybe speak to them directly on the phone when they call wondering where their food is, apologise, thank them for their valued custom and learn to take a different approach insead of just being rude and dismissive calling out in the background when they’ve been waiting for an hour! Maybe also learn to apologise for your own errors (rudeness on phone, poor quality food when it finally arrives) instead of solely blaming the delivery company in your response. Absolutely disgraceful all round - might as well have just thrown £22 in the bin, frankly, Frankie’s…. lesson well and truly learnt and I hope others take heed of this warning and spend their hard-earned money elsewhere. Shame on you. Laughable that you have my phone number and yet have remained as quiet as the proverbial church mouse for over 24 hours now.

So very disappointed 😔 We travelled especially to Frankie's as we heard great things about it. Needless to say we won't be going back again! Gluten free batter is not this ! Absolutely awful. It went in the bin .

The best fish & chips for miles and still worth every penny!

The fish and chips were superb, a proper fish and chip shop! Highly recommended but avoid Fri/Sat early evening or you’ll have to wait, it’s worth it though

The chips are ok, we found the fish pretty much running in grease. It does have a small sit in area which is good.

Excellent food. I collected from the shop, took it home to Liphook and my food was delicious and hot. Lovely, friendly staff.

I am a regular visitor, thefolks know me and always make me feel welcome. The food is freshly cooked to order, you can dine in or take away. They even let you bring your own wine.

Might be better for takeaway, this was an eat in order. The atmosphere is fine, basic, was pretty busy as it was Good Friday. I’m a fan of mushy peas but I was disappointed with these ones. I also didn’t like the tartare sauce. Both tasted pre-made rather than made from scratch. The cod was pretty fresh. It did come with skin on it but I don’t mind that. The “whole tail scampi” was a bit disappointing. Pretty skimpy and a little unappetising explosion came out of one of them (see photo for details.) Flavour was fine, but just didn’t match what I hoped. Maybe good for kids. Finally, this might be an “eat in” thing but we ordered a large chips to share as the price was similar to two small chips, and we were told by the staff that it was a 50% bigger than two smalls. But the order arrived and I think we got two small chips. The quality and taste of chips were a good not amazing.

Fish was quite nice, but chips seemed a bit hard and not as fresh as I thought. Looking at the reviews, I thought it would be better...

Dropted by for a quick take away lunch last week. Lovely soft moist fish and great chips. Appreciate good food and friendly service.

We ordered by telephone to pick up but, unfortunately, after waiting at the pick up point several minutes had to go into the shop which was a little annoying. Unfortunately, the fish was rather watery and tasteless and the chips very dry. I know this is a local favourite, but it's not to our taste and we won't be back soon.

Soggy fish full of oil, the chips were meh 🫤 very disappointing about the fish £8.20 for a defrosted fish NOT CRISPY ! is a bit much. And if you don’t trust my words just watch the video SOUND ON 🔊 🤬 30p for small pack of watered down tartare sauce, they were disgusting 🤮 Actually worst fish and chips I ever had, plus the disappointing customer service to top it off. I still have an oily taste in my mouth from this fish. Customer service was disappointing too, said hello no response, said goodbye no response, loads of staff for some reason but none to say much - just do not get it !!

The staff are always happy and smiling, very polite and food comes fast! On the subject of food it is fantastic, easily the best Chippy around with a great wider selection as well.

24/12/22 I have Now been coming here for years. 7 in fact. The commitment and passion for their craft is palpable. What a team. It is Christmas Eve and ten dedicated souls served me unbelievably generously. The same faces from years gone by. Committed to their community and producing food to the highest of standards. Best chippy around! They also have vegan pukka pies (reccomend calling up to order first if collecting as they take 10 minutes). The staff are always friendly and the chips and curry sauce are to die for!

Great fish and chips. The fish, delicious. With the right amount of vinegar. The chips were the perfect texture and they didn't weigh you down after eating them.

i regularly go here and always order a 6-nugget meal. without fail i have opened the box to find more than 6 nuggets. one time i found 10!! absolutely amazing. also very local which i love.

Does the business, with eat in table service restaurant and take away. Always good natured friendly staff and credit card payment - including under £10 now which is a welcome change.

Not impressed with their attitude! Told in no uncertain terms and very brusquely 'you can't eat in even if you wanted to' (they closed within 15 minutes). Had a jacket potato to take out but no disposable cutlery was offered or provided so I couldn't eat it out either! Had to wait until I got home, (25 minutes away) by which time it was luke warm at best and needed reheating. The potato was OK though microwaved. Would not be returning in a hurry.

Been coming here for years best fish and chip in the area by far. The portions sizes are generous and the price is fair. If you compare its to other place for portions size and price you won't find better. I've tried

Best in the area. Ticks most of the boxes, but doesn't get a five star because of potion size. Large chips were large but my large cod was not, when it's the best part of £10 for the fish alone it I'd expect it to be at least 50% bigger. My old chippy (also in Surrey) used to give you a piece twice the size of what I got here.

Usually this place is perfect but tonight the batter on the fish was soggy and bit crispy and the lady serving was chewing gum with her mouth open while putting the salt on.

Disappointed, because there are so many great reviews. The girl that took my money was rude. My order was wrong, I should have checked before I went home, so my bad. Just disappointing.

Disappointed - (fish was described as large, but was no better than a medium portion, still had the skin on and could have done with another minute in the Fryer. The chips somehow just seemed to lack any flavour or life). Well big thanks to Kaz, now understand what happened on the night - everyone wanted the same thing - since then last 2 visits have been fantastic, really super fish and chips. These guys are busy - pls phone and order ahead, you'll get a slot and it'll be ready and waiting. Especially on Friday evenings.

We were visiting a relative just a 2 minute walk away. She recommended we phone and order. Good Fish and Chips is one of the very best meals. And Frankie's did not disappoint. Local to where we live we have one of the best Fish and Chips takeaways in the country, Frankie's was every bit as good, and I consider myself an expert! They are seriously busy and they deserve their success. Efficient and friendly, reasonable price. A great reason to eat Fish and Chips.

Don't be misled, there are other options available on the menu other than Fish and Chips, Frankie will give you a jumbo sausage if you ask him nicely!

Had beef and onion pie gravey an chips. The chips were really nice, tasty pie but still in the wrapper would have preferred it out but no big deal and loved the gravey will definitely be there again while working in the area, well done good polite staff 👍👌

This was my second trip to frankies and it was even better than last time. The first time I had a lovely conversation with most of the staff who were very funny and friendly, and I only waited about 5 minutes for the food which was made to order. Delicious and just what my heart desired in a takeaway ❤️

This plaice is fantastic. The cod is better! Seriously, to have eaten at many chippies. As I get older and live by the calories Vs happiness equation Frankie's is ALWAYS worth it. The quality is on the money, the service excellent. Take up mountain biking so you can eat more 😁
