Franco's is performance art. Being at Franco's is entering a sitcom, you may be an extra or playing a lead role -- the choice is yours. Franco himself plays the role of an Italian curmudgeon who deliberately gets some people's names wrong and complains about how hard he has to work all the time, and gets angry if people order too much food. No vegan options.

I've visited this place a couple of times. The food is simple but pleasant enough. However, I just witnessed the owner shouting at a female customer. When one of the young waitresses told him he shouldn't speak to a woman in such an aggressive manner, he then verbally abused the waitress, using foul language and prodding at her before firing her on the spot. It is the worst display I have ever witnessed! I admit I have no idea what the context of the disagreement was, but the man's behaviour was utterly appalling. Avoid this place at all costs!

The owner, Franco is obviously a racist. I’m a African Caribbean woman who on two separate visits to this establishment this man has shown great disrespect towards me due to the colour of my skin. I’ve never been to a place and felt the hatred and negative energy I received from the Owner. The looks, the treatment in general in public was disgusting. “Franco Shuffle Bottom” craftily directed the helper to serve others, before me even though I had been seated and waiting for some time, to be acknowledged. My husband was appalled ....”Let’s Go!!! I'm afraid we will never return there and wouldn't recommend black people dine there - spend your time and money somewhere else that is more welcoming.

My wife and I pre-ordered multiple pizzas for our Sons Birthday party at which the lunch break was scheduled at 12:45 to accommodate games before and after, We rang Franco on the Friday prior to the party on Saturday to clarify we needed the pizzas and chips to be ready for 12:30.... no problem he said.... we arrived at 12:20 prepared to wait the 10 minutes and assured the party organisers we would return by 12:45 however without a word from Franco we were still waiting at 1pm!!! We eventually had to settle for part cooked chips ( for which Franco miserably declared he would not charge....as he wasn’t bothered anyway!!! )..the pizzas were just dumped in a box some of which were upside down and thus totally inedible! Franco offered no apology whatsoever for being half an hour late with our order we chose to use Franco,s in order to support local business rather than the other larger chains available locally and what a mistake that was. Franco offered no apology for his tardy service and to declare he wasn’t bothered anyway just sums the bloke up! We will never visit Franco’s again and actively discourage others from doing so either. 0-10 Franco thanks for nothing..... out of the pizzas that did remain intact nobody liked and we didn’t really expect the part cooked chips to go down a storm either

Reminds of a old Italian cafe, white table cloths, friendly and the coffee and the food is good quality fresh and great. Friendly loyal customers. You can sit for as long as you want i'ts that kind of place and i'ts licensed. Like stepping back in time but that's what makes the place..

We have just left Francos, after having driven for 45 minutes from the other side of Leeds on recommendation. We turned up and the owner said he was on his own so food would be over an hour. We accepted that, then went back inside to order and we’re looking at the pasta options because we had come specifically to try them. He then rudely said he wouldn’t make pasta only sandwiches and it would still be over an hours wait. We then decided to leave as we weren’t waiting an hour for a sandwich and he said good thank you!!! I have never experienced worse service in all my life and this is how businesses loose customers!! DO NOT GO!!!!

Just a lunchtime visit with family. It's a nice place, quite modern and open with a mix of tables, sofa all comfy Quite busy but good service from nice waitress One large full English, two bacon butties, scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a special their Italian stew. Franco's the cook and doing it all from a small kitchen area. The coffee is great and I'd a couple of cups while the food was cooking. All was lovely. Full English you got the works including black pud !!! Tea cakes with bacon were lovely and fresh. Eggs with bacon were aplenty All nice. Will go again.

Went to get take away sandwiches and cake, good online reviews. Called in advance to check that catered for take away sandwiches. Arrived at about 11.30am, cafe very busy with people having breakfasts, coffee etc. Poor choice sandwiches, ham, cheese, tuna etc. No specials, no deli hams, olives etc as I was expecting for a place called Franco's deli? Ordered 2 x ham and cheese sandwiches, asked what bread they did? Was told baguette, tea cakes or sliced bread. Asked white or brown tea cakes? Told white only, ordered sandwiches in white followed by a slice of carrot cake and chocolate cake. Got my order, paid and took them home. The white teacakes weren't even bakery ones, they seemed like warburtons presliced (maybe from the stop and shop next door?). Polish cheese was the only nice thin in sandwiches Carrot cake very nice, chocolate cake dry and awful. Stop doing takeaway sandwiches. Stick to breakfasts (they looked lovely by the way)

Lovely ladies serving, cooking, tidying up. The food at lunch time was delicious and plentiful. My grilled halloumi salad had loads of halloumi and the salad was very fresh with spinach, salad leaves, peppers, onion, olives all finished with a balsamic glaze and a couple of slices of bread. My friend's pizza was HUGE -he couldn't eat it all. The topping of tuna, anchovy etc was very generous. Their Saturday special menus served between 6 and 10pm sound lovely too. We shall definitely be visiting again. How lovely to have such a great place on the doorstep!

Went on Saturday for new fish menu. Delicious, fantastic plaice with garlic and parsley. I had smoked salmon linguine with chive and lemon sauce. Superb. Would be nice to have one veggie option as we had a vegetarian with us and they obliged though not on menu. Normally they do have veggie options. They also do a fab tiramusu! Small and cosy atmosphere. Our favourite!

We had the worst lunch experience ever at this caf - the owner was ignorant/arrogant and totally rude. We squashed on a table, were ignored in favour of customers coming in after us. Waited over an hour for the food which was less than average quality. Whilst waiting for the food we asked for another coffee from the waitress who was clearing tables in a now empty cafe who told me to go to the counter. She took the order but then forgot and served someone else. When I asked politely where our coffees were the owner jumped in and saud what's the problem can't you see we're busy. Yes they were busy 1 and half hours earlier but not at that point. The only reason I didn't leave immediately was that we'd paid and I was embarrassed in front of my work colleague. I won't ever be going back there

Great little cafe with a surprisingly wide range of food. You'll find here both polish and italian dishes - curious mix, but it works! I'm saddened that it is not advertised anywhere, not even on Facebook, so getting any info on what and when you can get there is really difficult! Even here, on TripAdvisor it's marked as a Bradford place, but it is in fact few minutes away from Shipley city centre! Me and my partner came in for a late lunch, he had spaghetti bolognese and I treated myself with goat cheese pizza and vanilla coffee. Everything was delicious, the portions were big and the bill was below 20 pounds! Great value for money. Can't say a bad thing about the staff - both ladies were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stop by Franco's again, would love to try the deliciously looking cakes!

Me and my partner were about to visit Francos after popping in to the shop next door, we parked our car outside Francos, however a rude old man with the grey hair came out and very arrogantly demanded that we move out car. Little did he know that we were his future customer, maybe you should train your staff to have better manners as you never who your next customer may be and first impressions definitely count!

Popped in for breakfast this morning and as always the food was great as was the atmosphere. Franco attracts Italians and Polish guests so being here really makes you feel you are a long way from Shipley!

Franco's is the type of restaurant that you hear about but are never able to find. The food is cooked fresh and always excellent with both Italian, Polish and English options. What ever you choose it is just excellent and great value for money.

Franco's is fantastic for any type of occasion, for example I go here 3 times a week for business lunches, and have also been socially for breakfasts and lunch. The paninis are superb and I am often stuck for choice as the range is superb. My favourite is the ham, mozzarella and pesto panini, although everything I have is great. The selection of drinks is great, I generally have the Poretti Italian beer, which makes peroni look like fosters lager Lovely service from the girls too!Oh and it's incredibly cheap I fully recommend this place

I have eaten pasta here twice and it is excellent! I don't often choose pasta in a restaurant as I have usually been disappointed. Not here! Freshly cooked from scratch whilst you wait - it is just great! There is a wide variety of foods to choose from - including breakfasts. Table space can be a little cramped if busy. When I visited most recently there were three of us, each eating a different pasta, and each of them were excellent - one sausage, one seafood and one anchovy and garlic. We bought bread to take home - fab! Good quality ingredients, cooked well. What more could you ask for?

Booked afternoon tea here for myself and over 20 guests for my milestone birthday having read a review that rated this venue as providing a good experience, however, I did not receive the same treatment which ruined my birthday event. Waitress Olivia advised that my entire birthday party was only allowed the vegetarian option of food (sandwiches) even though I myself am not vegetarian and neither were all my friends/family/guests. This vegetarian option turned out to be very basic consisting of a few stale sandwiches and fairy cakes. When these sandwiches arrived, there was no finesse or presentation - the whole thing was very slap dash – looked rushed. In addition to which the teas and coffees were brought out a good 15 minutes prior to the arrival of the stale sandwiches so all hot drinks were cold by the time the basic vegetarian option on sandwiches arrived. There was no pastries. This was the worst afternoon tea I have ever experienced, I felt totally humiliated in front of my guests and it totally ruined my birthday event. But hey ho, I was advised there was a wedding reception taking place at the same time and the kitchen were busy with the wedding parties' event which the hotel clearly prioritised over my birthday party, and this showed in volumes! I most certainly would never recommend.
