Francines Fish & Chips St. Austell in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Chips were reheated and rock hard. Pretty unedible really If you get the chicken around 5-6pm, it will have been on the heat for hours and will be completely dry and tasteless. The fish has never been good either. Plus, it's costly. I'm done with this fish and chip shop. Go to the white riverfish bar for a much nicer meal

Ordered large chips. Large cod and double sausage out of batter Wouldn’t think sausages have been anywhere near pork other than breadcrumbs filling Large chips were plenty but dry and batter was soggy not crispy Most of it went in green garden composter Fish was long and thin ok if you removed batter Wife was disappointed as well as we were going to another fish and chips shop but thought we give Francine’s a go if it wasn’t busy Could see why it wasn’t to busy at 6.15 if thats quality they put out Won’t be going back in a hurry

Fish and chips were nice. Cooked in beef dripping for a nice flavour. Ordered a mixed shish kebab with salad and chicken shish and salad. But it wasn't shish. It was chicken and lamb cooked on a hot plate and has clearly never seen a skewer or a grill. Flavourless and a waste of money and ingredients. A real shame because the portions were generous, with bucket loads of salad, very little sauce and a pitta bread that had fallen apart (because of the portion size), so could not be held. Great if you like large portions of bland food. As it happens, the bin enjoyed the kebabs. Couldn't inflict them on the poor dog. 🤔

Excellent value for money, with ample portions . A wide variety of options are offered and there is a good children’s menu too. Friendly, quick service.

Whilst visiting family, we opted for a fish & chip supper at Francines. Previously walking past, the aroma was enticing and smelt delicious. We were a group of 5 and being fairly hungry after a long walk earlier in the day, opted for cod & chips & a pineapple fritter. My daughter & myself chose the large size. The portions were more than ample & we could have shared 2 portions between us all, if we hadn't been piggies. Friendly staff with a prompt service, we look forward to visiting again. You can also place your order online or by phone, to collect at a time to suit.

Great portion size, cooked to order. Fish n Chips cooked in beef dripping. So tasty , not at all greasy , I don't usually eat the batter but it was crispy and the fish was delicious. A real treat when on holiday. Locals eat there too which is always a good sign. They also do burgers and lots of other meals . Staff were great too.

Outstanding service at short notice. We are a Care Home in the area, and awaiting delivery and installation of a new oven today so ordered through Francines at short notice. Service was incredible, our residents loved their food and portion size was huge! Thank you to all the staff there!

We don't have fish and chips very often (especially with the rise in prices) but have been trying all in the local area. This is really the best fish and chips we have had for so long and, even though people park outside, there is a car park across the road. Staff are lovely and everything is piping hot. Am going to try the one in Newquay later in the week. A large fish and chips is quite expensive but big enough for 2 - will be back/

We have tried all the other fish and chip shops around out local area but Francines beats them all hands down. The portions are double the size of any other place and also far better quality at a cheaper price too. An added bonus is that they also do kebabs and very good burger options.
