Visited this pub after 2 years to meet up with my college friend of 29 years, after a two hour journey, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our ploughman’s platter and delicious beef burger was just what we needed before our long walk in the village where I grew up. It’s great to see a good village pub as lots of them seem to be disappearing these days. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in for a quick bite as new menu was very appealing. Pleasantly surprised by the sandwiches which were so delicious and filling. It was very good for the price as they came with a really moreish side salad and crisps. Really look forward to trying more dishes on the menu soon. We previously went for a curry night and the Spanish night and were not disappointed. Staff are always so friendly. Well done 👏

Having seen so many mixed reviews about this pub, we were reluctant to go for a meal there. But our usual pub were booked up for Sunday roast and we thought to give it a try to see for ourselves. What a pleasant surprise. Roast was just fantastic and desserts so wonderfully presented, appetising and delicious. Could not fault service and food was served very promptly. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Good choices of wine at decent prices.

Starters were good. Well presented and tasty. However, two mains were not. A burger, was greasy, and a pasta dish tasted bad. When we came to pay we were expected to still pay for one of the bad dishes, despite eating none of it and not having it replaced. They were able to remove one dish for tasting bad, but not the other, arguing it was personal taste! The waitress argued this for a considerable amount of time, before we left. Upon leaving, the waitress muttered a comment that I returned to clarify. Tempers began running high here - we’d had a very bad meal and staff couldn’t be less caring or accommodating, so myself the waitress were now exchanging cross words. Out of nowhere, a blond man, presumably the chef, ordered me out, accusing me of taking pictures of his staff. Which I wasn’t. This man chased me out of the pub, just the two of us at this time, charging towards me in a threatening manner and went around to the car park where my elderly grandmother was getting into the car and took photographs of them too. Why, I do not know? I felt so threatened by him doing this and having no idea what he may do next, I called the police. Management have been keen to deny this happened (more, deny his actions were threatening) and I am certain they will do so again here, which is a shame. As a community pub, managed by a woman, it is sad to see her defend the actions of men intimidating women.

Service and food was very poor. Staff disorganised and uninterested. Sadly we won’t be returning, which is a shame as we were regulars when the place was under previous management.

I used to really enjoy a trip to this pub. My husband has never been a fan but I insisted we went for lunch recently. I’m SO disappointed with the change of staff, quality of food, service and general atmosphere. The place was dirty, the food was poor and took such a long time to come. I’m not in a hurry to come back. What a shame as it was so good.

Lovely dinner, just what I needed after a long week. Squid was perfect, could tell it was freshly made and not out of a packet. One of the best ones I’ve had in a long time. Really enjoyed the king prawn linguine too, very “moreish”. Good choices of food available and welcoming staff. Drinks are very reasonably priced.

We booked last Saturday for a dinner , recommended by our friend ,we heard that there is new owner with good menu and a chef that have passion for food , when we arrived we been seated straight away by lovely waitress named Liv , drinks arrived fast and orders been taken ,not long after we revived starters Mushroom Arancini and carrot and coriander soup witch was full of flavor and presented nice , then mains.. Chicken Carbonara and Sea bass wow it was like bringing us to Mediterranean coast again so good , only let down was the dessert but taking all experience was very good for a pub / restaurant that size , we defiantly will be back when we visit our family . UPDATE- Fox & Hounds under new management - Not eaten here yet November 23 Went for our 25 th anniversary meal here, they catered to our needs and made it a really specially occasion. As always good food and wine recommended by David and Sarah. The black squid ink pasta was 👌

Lovely Sunday Roast last week. We were here a couple of months ago since the pub had been under new management, for a Spanish themed evening. Although food was fantastic but service was chaotic. We decided to give it another try as my friend had been for her birthday and said they had a fantastic time. Had to wait slightly longer than expected but it was busy and we had not booked. The friendly staff checked on us to make sure we were okay and offered us some olives while we waited, which was nice. Food was worth the wait, the lamb and the pork were equally delicious with generous servings of vegetables. Apple sauce with the pork would have been perfect as hubby loves his apple sauce but nevertheless it was very good and would highly recommend. I’m glad we tried again. It is a community owned pub and the new management has definitely transformed the place as it felt less formal and more welcoming than what I know of if before. Loved the wood burner being on. Keep up the great work. We’ll see you soon.

This was my first time here in a good few years as I had grown up in the area, and I guess was under new management. On arrival, staff were very friendly and helpful. We came for a roast and had waited an hour for our lunch to arrive. We had the pork and on the menu it said with stuffing and crackling. No crackling in sight so had to ask for some. The pork didnt look like it had been sliced from a whole pork joint, it was more like thin pork steaks which were dry and chewy. Vegetables were undercooked and were quite hard. We asked for apple sauce but they didnt have any. The food was just very underwhelming and disappointing. The staff were so friendly and helpful, just the food was such a let down unfortunately! I noticed a couple other tables waiting for a long time for their food, and overheard that they'd run out of certain things too, and just felt sorry for the young waiting staff having to apologise. I dont think we will be coming back again.

Came for the Mauritian themed night, and the food was lovely. The mains especially were very unique, well cooked and full of flavour. It was a shame the dining area was quite quiet as the cooking deserves to be tried by more people. Service was good, mostly we were served by the woman who seemed to run the evening, but the younger servers from the bar were also friendly and did a good job. Will definitely return to try so more Mauritian delights!

Was visiting some friends in the area and popped in for lunch. Enjoyed a delicious seafood board which was a generous portion, enough for 3 to share. The king prawn linguine was beautiful too, washed down with some bubbly. Returned the next day for a great roast dinner. Unusual ingredient in the red cabbage but was very yummy. Cauliflower cheese also included within the price which was a bonus as other places charge for these separately. Staff seemed busy Sunday but still made us feel welcomed. Will definitely pop back in when in the area again.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends yesterday and had a splendid meal. Very generous helpings of roasts very nicely presented, (though the Yorkshire puddings left a little to be desired but that's a minor point) and excellent apple pie. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Plenty of customers in the dining room, and more arriving as we left mid-afternoon. Thank you.

Brilliant food on Friday for the Mauritian night. Great portion sizes and atmosphere. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Mauritian food so much we ordered extra to take home with us! Delicious and highly recommended!

Have been here twice this week only to find it closed, there should be an opening times notice outside, as it's 3:30 pm on a Thursday and the website says it should be open now. It's not!

The worst restaurant service I've ever had. So slow for drinks and starters, and when mains came around we only received 3 out of 8. When complaining we were pushed behind other tables and offered no money off. We left with 5 people having no meals because of the huge delay, and even the food that came wasn't that good. We left with a 20% discount (because we kicked off) and picked up a McDonald's as a better option.

We chanced by the Pub and pleased we did. It is a charming place both inside and out with tasteful decor, comfy seating and a spacious restaurant. Everything was clean and tidy including quite elegant washrooms. Our hostess, Mindy, was very charming and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for her and the staff team. The bar was well stocked with various lagers, ciders, Guiness but no real ales on show. A good range of spirits also. We chose to eat as the menu offered us teasing choices, limited, yes but this establishment is only 7 weeks old so a sensible way to introducing itself without stretching its resources. We went for the seafood and fish sharing board with dips, garni, dips and charred bread and we were very pleased with this a starter. My wife had the buttermilk chicken burger with triple cooked fat chips, delicious. I went for the King Prawn Linguine however found it a bit bland. Mindy offered a different course but to be fair it wasn't that poor as it is a common theme for these dishes to have an overpowering tomato presence. I prefer a more concentrated base of garlic and white wine but maybe others don't. The meal was accompanied by a well priced and refreshing Spanish Rose served in an ice bucket. Lovely. The Pub runs themed dining evenings and a shame a Curry night wasn't within our visiting dates. We do recommend this friendly hostelry and sincerely hope it succeeds in delivering a valued resource to the community. It has made a great start in our eyes!

Popped in for a nice midweek dinner at our local & enjoyed the summery options of sea bass and pea & asparagus risotto, washed down with a good pint of IPA and a glass of rosé. Starters of goat cheese salad and salt & pepper squid were tasty too. We didn't have room to try the desserts... next time perhaps.

Went for the new opening Mexican night and live music, the food was delicious and full of flavour!! Live music was a great addition and brought lots of fun to the pub. Will be back soon!

It was warm but not particularly friendly. We chose a table but were asked to move as apparently extra chairs could be added to seat 6 people. There were 2 of us. We moved then were puzzled when within half an hour a couple came in, sat at that table and were not asked to move. The food was ok except the pigeon breast was a bit too chewy and not a good choice of hearty desserts ie apple pie and custard. In fact no custard. We felt uncomfortable taking 2 hours to eat a 2 course meal and coffee even though there were empty tables around us. Don't think I'll be going back there.

Only 3 tables occupied (including ours). It was a shame because it meant there was no atmosphere. The food is top quality, country style menu options (rabbit and venison) plus more traditional dishes. Expertly cooked and presented. Our waitress was lovely, very friendly. We had soup to start, and the portion was big. We have small appetites so unfortunately we were too full to do full justice to our mains. That is totally down to our poor choices. The 'pre-prandial' oysters (available Fri - Sun) were some of the best we've had - a real achievement this far from the coast! The home cured bacon joint was also a 'stand out' Sunday Lunch offering! I'd mentioned it was a birthday celebration in my booking notes and we weren't disappointed. Prosecco on arrival and a specially presented dessert - our lovely waitress even sang happy birthday! We did feel the restaurant deco / layout could do with making a little cosier / intimate but just a very small point in what was a fantastic dining experience.
