Kuni's Coffee & Comics in Daventry

Horrible...just went with kids for a treat and spent 8£ for shocking ice creams from people who do not care...they more bothered to chat to each other that provide good customer service...just so poor quality for double ice creams and shocking look of them...just better go to Waitrose and buy ice creams🍦 there or even in McDonald's...that to this place...and they not use gloves when prepare food or even tissues just with bare hands and when they pass you they give it a tissue...they need a lot of training or they should change job as you can see they do not care...

The young lad on the till was polite and efficient, I suspect he’s quite new. The lady making the coffee’s was clearly stressed and not coping with the amount of orders, which resulted in her being very short and rude to the poor lad, when he asked any sort of question. I felt very sorry for him! I have come across the lady in question before when visiting the shop. She completely ignored me standing, waiting to order, while she faffed around rearranging. A simple, “I will be with you in a minute”, would have gone a long way, and prevented me from walking out. It’s such a shame there are a couple of staff members that let the place down because the coffee and cakes are excellent.

as i walked in the door there was an odd smell ,,, but the hot chocolate was lovely and very warming , the tables could have done with a wipe but only appeared to be two staff , on the way out i realised the smell was coming from the people sat just inside not the establishment itself xx

Hadn’t been in for a while and realised a staff change straight away … ordered a cappuccino and large sausage roll and then was abruptly told too sit and wait by the manageress !! Finally after bit of a kaffufel behind the counter I got my coffee but they had forgot my sausage roll which caused a bit of confusion as too whose job it was too warm it but after they had there quick staff meeting the sausage roll came cold anyways. I never complained I just won’t return

Good place but knowing it is remembrance Sunday and they are going to be busy they would have more than 3 staff!!!

ordered a brownie sundae for delivery and it was less than a quarter icecream and just topped with loads of whipped cream absolutely disgusting not what i’d call a sundae at all!! also got a chocolate milkshake and it didn’t taste good at all very disappointed.

The place was empty when served by TONI for a lovely cup of coffee. It's such a shame a good business is struggling to survive this lockdown . I love coming here for a chat and muffins and maybe the good times will come back. TONI was extremely friendly and a credit to kunis.

Great coffee with a fabulous range of flavouing syrups. Cakes, savouries and pancakes are all lovely. Friendly staff and good social distancing.

Only two staff on most days who are run off their feet, how they stay polite and cheerful amazes me. I give 5 stars to the staff but not to those who run the business so the management need to have a reality check and take a good look at what is going on as it is totally unfair on the staff who are doing their best in a very difficult situation and frustrating for customers having to wait so long to be served.

I came for a tale away coffee post lockdown and it was surreal no seating and await the lockdown to come down to one metre. Cant wait to get back to normal

i Love coming here for a very friendly welcome serving good coffee and muffins which I always have at the weekend. Very busy but got served quickly. Free WI FI and always a selection of papers to read which is nice with your drinks. Will come back again. Well done to ALL THE FRIENDLY STAFF

I went into get a muffin. All the staff were talking. I went to the till to get a muffin. Did not get asked if I was taking away or eating in. The assumption was I was eating in. I was taking away. Why did I have to apologise to the staff. Nothing from them to me as the customer. No,sorry or anything just a look of disgust from the person that had to put my muffin a bag for me to take away. I have only been in a couple of times. I think this will be my last visit if this is how the staff treat their customers.no star rating as I think there seems to be a lack of customer service training. As I had to give one star to submit my review I have. However,don’t think it is deserved. Even though it comes up as terrible

I have visited here a couple of times in the past, but went today with my daughter and baby grandson and the place was filthy. The highchairs were covered in food debris as were the tables and sofas. It made us wonder how clean the food prep areas are. It was definitely not hygienic, I was embarrassed for them. Wish we'd gone elsewhere.

Food is brilliant, polite and fast service & Dan in particular is brilliant, very polite welcoming and I haven't got a bad word to say about Dan or the store itself, highly recommend. 👌🏼

I always come here for my coffee as it is so friendly and the muffins are to die for. Very attentive staff and it is a pleasuare to come here for such a friendly welcome

Staff were not bad with the service overall, two ladies stood out as they offered extras for comfort which was good. They showed the best service compared to the other two. Food not bad but do not expect fancy. Furnishings were nice and the place clean. Brightly coloured decor and good TV's. Just unfortunately the food hygiene wasn't the best from some staff. The consistency wasn't there, anyone was choosing to handle the food, no structure in the team. In this case the man with the huge, loose and untamed beard was allowed to handle the food with his bare hands just as he saw fit. He had just been handling drinks on plates to serve someone else and walking around when he came back and decided to pick up the food himself then and there. Took a good few seconds to have his hands all over the food, touching it everywhere near his long beard. Then to chuck it into the toaster. The ladies had all their hair under control. I couldn't see hands being washed often and he had decided to help himself to heating up the food with his bare hands. And even then it wasn't heat up properly.

We often enjoy popping in here for a quick cuppa and something nice to go with it. Staff are always welcoming and the facilities are clean and tidy.

I always come her regularly as I like the atmosphere and free wi fi. The muffins I have on a saturday are delicious and well worth trying. Very friendly who make me feel welcome. Well done to all

Visited the shop on 14.5.19. Quick service, great interaction with the customers, excellent coffee and well looked after. Will be going back again, for sure.

I went for a coffee as its the only coffee shop in town i Hadn't tried , got to the counter and the chinese women throws a pen at the counter, so greated by a thowing object, there was alot to choose from, both staff members are trying to make me feel uncomfortable by rushing me, when i had made a choise the guy who served me rubbed his hair over my cup, sorry but i dont want hairs in my drink, and then i asked for a fresh one, then in the middle of making the drink he uses antibacterial spray and squirts it near the drink, they are breaching health and safety, do you want your kids to be poisoned .

this is a lovely friendly coffee serving good coffee and muffins to do for. Very friendly staff who make you feel valued. Very clean with a good selection of papers to read and also free WI FI and toilets on site. Well worth a visit and they sell a good selection of comics too. Well done to Dan and all his wonderful staff

A lovely place to have coffee and a snack. The coffee is lovely and the range of cakes and sandwiches are very good. Staff are friendly and it's a very cosy place to sit. Can't fault it.

Always worth a visit. Coffee is great and food is good in here. And it is quite quirky, with the comic-shop theme.

Twice recently I have been here and the staff have been spoken to in a very abrupt and frankly rude manner I presume by the manageress. This time the staff member even told her she was being rude and was chastised for even saying it! Not good customer service when you are queuing!

My partner and I must come here at least 2 times a month together, and then a few times each separately to meet friends.

I like to come here for a coffee and read the paper. The staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome on arrival. A great selection of Muffins and eats to tempt everyone. Well done to LIZ and her staff. toilets on site too.

Decided to give this cafe a second chance but I wish I hadn’t. There is food and drinks being served in here and they allow dogs in the premises, and this dog was allowed to run around not on a lead and even went into the toilet. The only dogs that should be allowed should be guide dogs that are on leads. Dogs should never be allowed in places that sell food and drink. A lady questioned allowing the dogs in and the staff weren’t interested. I will never go in here again again and would recommend other people to go elsewhere unless you like beings irritated by other people’s animals.

Coffee always good here. Quite often meet with friends and relax in the comfy seats. Always see people I know and is my choice of coffee shop in Daventry.

I have used this coffee house on quite a few occasions but will not be again sat in the cafe yesterday 11th June just finishing my coffee and in walked phs group to empty the sanitary towel unit but what I object to is when they walk through the cafe and out the front door swinging a clinical waste bag he should have been stopped buy the staff on duty very unhygienic.

Too many coffee shops in Daventry, and for me, Kuni’s stand out from the rest. A milder brew of coffee, friendly and attentive staff and also great for kids. And they have lots of value deals throughout the day.

I visited here with my youngest son whilst waiting for another appointment, great coffee, great cakes.... super friendly and happy staff and different decor... just what Daventry needs...something a bit different... keep it up!

My boyfriend and I pop in often for coffee, lunch, cake etc. Very friendly staff and good value for money. Love the comic book theme of the environment & the adjoining shop. The giant minion and iron man are a nice touch! Highly recommend.

Great for coffee and a cake. Coffee not as bitter as some of the competition and that suits us. Staff friendly and attentive, worth a visit when fed up with the shopping in Daventry.

I visit Kuni's on a regular basis with my friends, the cappuccino is the best in town! and the staff are very friendly, and it's great for children.

Not what I would personally go for but my two granddaughters love the pancakes and waffles. Had a cheese and egg panini which was very good. Staff were obliging and food was reasonably priced and arrived quickly.

Menu aimed at teenagers, very cramped. Also incredibly noisy. The tea I had served to me was mediocre I'm not worth the cost.

Kuni's is a great place for a coffee and a bite. The coffee is excellent and there are very good muffins, cookies and toasted tea cakes amongst many other items.Prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly.

A fun place to stop and have a coffee and one of the many good looking cakes. The place is designed to appeal to the younger generation but don't be put off as the offering was still good, as was the service

Have been here a few times and it always seems busy with people coming and going. Friendly staff and reasonable prices, my only complaint is that the coffee is a bit weak for my taste... but a good place to take a break while shopping.

Went to this cafe last Saturday was served by someone called Jamie.Ordered a ham and cheese toasty, and a toasted sandwich. My friend got her sandwich fine, after 20/25 minutes my ham and cheese toasty still hadn't arrived so I went to ask if they had forgotten my order. It was still in the toaster and burnt. So had to make me another.On leaving I ordered a cake to take away and said to "take away" Served by the same person, it was handed to me on a plate! The service was just really poor!

Excellent cafe in the centre of Daventry town, has a little play area for the kids, and lots of cool merchandise/comic books you can buy. The food and drinks are always top quality and the staff polite.

Well we went there yesterday and we were waiting for a friend and the staff were really nice to me and my friend. I would definitely go here again. If u have never been all I can say is bring MONEY because there is a shop and if u are a nerd type like me than bring money. It is worth coming here.

The people here are so helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. They also cater to gluten free and dairy free lifestyles which is nice.There is a great selection of food, coffee and American sweets. Free wifi with receipt and there is a play area for the kids in the back. Also, a great gift shop with lots of hard to find items. One of the best points/rewards cards in Daventry.

Nice to sit and talk over a coffee and cake with no rush, staff very helpful . Easy access from nearby car parks .

We popped in on a whim and the experience was fantastic. Super friendly staff, the shop could have been bigger but what was there was great. Food and drink was yummy and not too pricey. Great photo ops with a minion and iron man too! Lovely atmosphere and will definitely revisit if we happen to be in Daventry again :)

I regularlycome for coffee and muffins. They are great and all the staff are so happy and friendly. Free wi if too. They are displaying a collection box for our charity bike ride in june.

Have visited a couple of times now and it's alright. Quite a nice atmosphere, staff friendly enough, drinks ok but all lacking... Something. I'm not that into comics, superheroes etc so I suppose I'm not exactly the target market, but personally I would rather go to Costa just around the corner, as I haven't even found Kuni's to be THAT much cheaper. Can also be quite loud as, although it's a good place for younger people & they have a little area where children can play, I would rather have somewhere quieter if I'm meeting with friends for a drink. I do like it and would continue to visit when I'm around, but as I said I'm probably not their ideal customer, and if you are/have younger teenagers or children then you may really love it here.

Kids love this place because of all the sugary options and the comic book related ephemera.Coffee and snacks are better than the large chain options nearby and there is quite a lot more choice. They have booths to sit in which are nicer than open tables and the staff do a good job of keeping the tables clean.Bizarrely they sell a lot of American candy and snacks. They are actually a bit expensive which is in contrast to everything else which is reasonably priced.

Very nice coffee shop friendly staff but I feel management belittle staff infront of customers......... I come here regularly and I have never seen staff wash hands considering they are handling food frequently...... So I don't order food from here for that reason......

I love this place, its a little gem in the middle of Daventry. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and I feel quite regular now.There is a wide selection of sandwiches and baguettes available which can be heated if you like, the coffee is lovely and a good choice of size options available. I really love their cakes though. Once you have filled yourself up with coffee and cake you can pop to the rear of the store and see their selection of comics, books and sci-fi models and posters. You just can't get this stuff on the high street. The prices are very competitive with the other local coffee shops and the items in the shop are very much in line with on-line prices, sometimes cheaper. The unit is a nice size, very clean and modern. The giant minion at the back of the store is always a hit with the children. There are media points throughout and WiFi as well as TV screens if you just want to watch TV while you eat.You can keep your Costa's etc. This is the place for me.

I love Kuni's Coffee and Comics, the coffee is lush much nicer than other coffee shops in my opinion. The saff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. My friends and I are regulars here and I woukd recommend you give them a try you wont be dissapointed. The coffee and walnut cake is to die for. Thanks guys for always making my visit a happy one.

Go there so so much it is a amazing cafe. Would recommend for anyone. It has extremely friendly staff and good products.They also offer the ability to meet celebrity's like Warwick Davis which is awesome

I visit Kuni's at least once a week with my toddler and always get a warm welcome. My son loves playing with the toys they provide which leaves me to enjoy my cuppa in peace!

Great site, great staff, wonderful ice cream! The décor is very refreshing, a great place and I will be back for more ice cream.

I love this cafe, great food which is very reasonably priced (much cheaper than other coffee shops), food tastes great and there is a wide selection of panini's and cakes. If they do not have want you want they also will offer to make something for you. They offer a discount for a children's box which my son always loves. Coffee and the hot chocolate are very good. We will be visiting again.

Some things about this cafe are fantastic; food, drinks, staff, comics, American candies, merchandise, wi fi. However, this may because they are a new business and still learning, I find the service slow, the order gets passed from till to server, then they have to check something with another server, takeaway gets made in a sit in cup, rowdy groups of children, staff not very knowledgeable about range of comics. I like the 'unique' look of some of the staff, sometimes this look isn't pulled off and staff look dishevelled and dirty. Overall- I will come here again, but the complete experience could be much more enjoyable. The owner is great! Knowledgeable and friendly.

Took my two kids here, they enjoyed it and liked looking round the shop at the back. Coffee was ok, lovely cakes but seemed to be a lot of staff on with nothing to do.

Popped in for coffee & milkshake with some of the children we look after. coffee was really nice and the children loved their milkshake which was topped with cream - a real treat for the mini people. There were some toys and some drawing as well which is a really nice idea for any one with children. Very welcoming. We did not get any food so can not comment on this

Lovely cafe but very over priced, would visit much more often if it wasn't so expensive, that looses a lot of customers I think.

Popped in here for a milkshake whilst in town. It's really nice inside, well done out and good facilities incl baby changing.It was quiet however for a Sat afternoon and this meant there were 5 members of staff just hanging around chatting loudly to each other which was a bit offputting. I was disappointed then that none of them helped me with the door as i struggled out with my pram and shopping. Just a little thing but when there are so many cafes to choose from in Daventry, staff can make a big difference and the kids working here seemed more interested in their own conversations than customers. Not sure where the manager was but it felt like they needed some supervision or jobs allocating for quieter periods.

Daventry has no book shops and very little in the way of good coffee, so this is a welcome addition to the town. The stock of comics and confectionary is really varied and interesting.

I went in early morning with zero expectations and came out really pleased I'd gone in. Great coffee made by staff who really know what they're doing and who care. It's a well thought out coffee shop and they source locally, which is great. They've put a lot of attention into the detail. I'm not a comics person, but this in no way meant I didn't have a great cafe experience.

Comic themed but not intrusive good access for pushchairs etc. and a very pleasant environment. food was ok and the prices weren't silly. Definitely worth a try.

Went to this cafe with my family staff great drinks great but.... They allow youths in there that shout swear and throw things about so I won't be taking my family in there again which is a shame because if they had zero tolerance of this sort of behaviour it would be a very nice place but as usual it's turned into another place for idiots

We visited the new Kuni's Comics cafe after hearing about it opening, to be honest I wondered how well they could combine the two but was really pleasantly surprised! The decor is bright and colourful fitting well with the theming but it's not over the top so if your not mad on comics it won't put you off. The prices were very competitive with great hot chocolate! The staff were all very friendly and we ate some cookies too which were great! The comic book store at the back was looking a little light on stock (being just after Christmas I guess this is normal) but I am looking forward to seeing how they stock up, I would personally like to see more comics and graphic novels but that's just me. Love this new coffee shop and I for one won't be going anywhere else in Daventry!
