Have been regulars in the Red Lion since moving to the village years ago. Took parents here in mid July 2024 for dinner, one of the first dates for the new menu. It did not disappoint! The new additions were lovely, including a welcome return for the famous (and delicious!) Red Lion Scotch Egg. Great food and service from Zoe and the team. Recommended!

Have tried the pub a few times now meeting friends for lunch. The sandwiches are not great, mainly because of the low quality bread. This needs revising.

17 of us went here for Sunday lunch. Some had roasts, which were absolutely outstanding. As was all the food. Friendly staff too. Kids food was served first as it should be. All food served quickly and piping hot. We were visiting the area and live 100 miles away - we left 2 hats behind and staff posted them to us first class. Can't fault the place or recommend it enough. If we're back in the area, we'll be back in the Red Lion. Very impressed.

At a family gathering for dinner we came to this beautiful pub for Sunday dinner (1st time) The food was gorgeous and the service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The owner was pretty chilled and it showed in the whole place, it was a lovely chilled afternoon finishing off in the garden which had been done beautifully. My Dad commented how nice it was to have a room temperature ale how it is supposed to be served. Well done and we will be back soon.

Needed a pub to watch the football during our trip heading north. Found this pub on Google and phoned to ask if they were showing the game. Lovely friendly gentleman on the phone. Arrived to say two pride flags flying which made us as a gay couple feel very welcome. Enjoyed a few drinks and saw some lovely food coming out to tables. The pub is a very modern with a light and airy feel. The waitress was helpful and polite. Village pubs can’t be a little daunting to visit sometimes but this one wasn’t at all. Very welcoming.

Had lunch and evening meal here on Friday 24 May, we were in the area for the Crick boat show and this was across the road from our accommodation. The lunch meal was great so we booked for evening meal, and were happy that there was live music booked and we were expecting to spend the night there. The food was great, the bar staff and chef were very polite and helpful, however.... After the singer's first couple of songs, the Landlord approached him, on stage and mid-song, and stood directly in front of him to ask to take the volume down - it was probably the rudest and most ignorant thing I have ever witnessed. And then it was done again by another staff member! I spoke to the singer as we were leaving, to explain that we were leaving because we couldn't sit and watch such discourtesy and lack of manners and he said the actions are totally stunned him and threw his as he had his set planned, to top it he told me that the gig was for charity. We chose to leave early and as a result of this we did not go back to spend our money there the next day either. We will return to the accomodation but we won't set foot in this pub again unless the name changes over the door. Instead of stood at the the customer side of the bar, like the big 'I AM' the Landlord wants to some time behind the bar with his praise worthy staff to learn some manners and respect - there is a way to speak to people or request something if you are not happy with something. Poor experience and spoiled the evening. PS Try the George, further up the village, great food and great owners, totally different.

Had drinks here on Saturday as it was my daughter's birthday. She lives in the village and we often pop in - sometimes to eat or just for a drink. Either way, you are guaranteed a warm welcome. As my daughter & I are both vegetarian, there is always enough choice for us - which cannot be said for some places! And we just love the garden, it is delightful.

Having checked out the pubs in Kilsby before we moved here, we were astounded just what a lovely establishment "The Red Lion" was and have not looked back since. We make a point of buying local to help the community and can honestly say we do not go anywhere else. The ambience of the place is fabulous, the staff are wonderful, I personally just love young Alex x. The customers are mostly local and so friendly, there is always a treat for my dog whenever she comes with us as it is so dog friendly too. The food is to die for (I especially am partial to the pies (as the very delightful and very handsome landlord, Alistair makes them) and he is just so handsome and well worth a visit and a good look. My recent visit to this pub left much to be desired, primarily due to the disappointing service experience I encountered. Upon arrival, I found no signage indicating whether to wait to be seated or to take a seat at an empty table. After seating myself, I waited for 15 minutes before being informed by a waiter that the table was reserved, despite no signage indicating so. Relocating to another table, I waited an additional 30 minutes without any acknowledgment or service. Observing others who arrived after me being promptly served, I approached the bar to inquire about receiving a menu and possibility to make an order. It was then that the waiter questioned whether I had informed anyone of my arrival, to which I explained that he himself had asked me to move tables earlier so he was aware I was a customer who needs attention. Furthermore, I was informed of a policy requiring guests to wait to be seated, although this was not communicated upon entry. Furthermore, the lack of basic manners and rude behaviour exhibited by the server only added to the frustration of the experience. Despite the satisfactory quality of the cuisine, the absence of hospitality and professionalism tainted what could have been an enjoyable experience. As a result, I left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return.

Relaxing place to eat. Tastefully decorated & probably more geared up as a restaurant place to eat than a pub. U don't feel under dressed and always made feel welcome. However, their real ale isn't too great, either end of the barrel or dirty lines. I suspect t latter as this is t 4th time iv bn here & each time their beer tastes not right/ fresh - I won't be going back a 5th time. Any pub persistently which is unable to achieve a fresh pint doesn't deserve business - this is such a basic. If you drink lager then you'll probably be fine as this is what they mainly serve.

Greeted at the restaurant and rooms reception by a friendly hostess who confirmed our room reservation. A walk through the bar area led to the stairs accessing the rooms. Quaintly creaky stairs, well carpeted, steepish and narrow as befitting a fine building of a certain age. The room was clean and fresh with tea and coffee facilities. A snug ensuite was perfectly adequate. To watch TV you needed to perch on the bed, not worth it though as ours had a very moody reception. The info folder in the room was generally helpful and had WiFi login details. We had booked a table for dinner as we checked in, the place was already filling up. A good sign. The menu from the room info pack proved to be out of date and both choices were quickly changed. I can recommend the homemade steak and ale pie, truly delicious. A good choice of wines and beers made for a very relaxing evening. I would recommend a short stay here rather than a larger franchise hotel. Only downside was no breakfast available. Tip, have desert to pre-fill the breakfast gap.

Visited today for lunch - a spontaneous 'let's try somewhere new' trip out with my sister. Arrived about 12.30, plenty of space to choose from. Two men behind the bar, one of whom advised us to order asap as they had a party of 17 coming in, so we grabbed menus and decided on fish and chips (we were hungry!). Two prices quoted and as we were very hungry we went for what we assumed would be the large fish and chips at £13. Service was prompt and our food was delivered piping hot but we were rather surprised (and not pleasantly) by the portion size... it was reminiscent of one of those supermarket chilled cabinet fish and chips that you empty onto an oven tray and shove in the oven, only the fish was even smaller and I think there was fewer chips too! The fish was tiny - mostly a thick layer of batter, which was oddly chewy, disguising the small piece of fish, which was also oddly tasteless - maybe because it was so overwhelmed by the thick batter? The chips were those super chunky frozen ones - in this day and age, if you're going to charge £13 for a small portion of fish and chips, at least make sure the chips are homemade... The mushy peas were nice, though. There were a pile of leaves included on the plate, but these were a bit limp and had no dressing - just some salad leaves. Odd. Our first and, sadly, last visit. Seems to focus on older folk with smaller appetites and deep pockets? There's far better out there - if you fancy fish and chips in a restaurant setting, I'd recommend Wetherspoons - better quality and bigger portion! We did ask the waiter if it was the large fish when he put the plates down and he responded that he didn't know. That pretty much summed up our visit.

We had 4 adults meals and 1 children's roast dinner to take away. The portions were more than generous, the veg was cooked perfectly, meat was great (we had beef and lamb shank). Everything was ready on time and packaged perfectly. Lastly it was great value for money. Really impressed and definitely ordering again soon!

Had a family evening dinner, the service was good, and food for children was excellent. The Covid precautions were good, and pub was very full with space between tables.

Very good service and food. WE ate indoors and the Covid 19arrangements were perfect. Naturally we had to book but this was no problem.

Visited the Red Lion with my wife and two grandchildren in the early afternoon for lunch. They have all the necessary precautions in place for the Covid Pandemic and we felt very safe. The food was excellent, as was the service. This was our first visit but definitely the last

Blown away. The refurb they've done over lock down has made what was already a lovely looking pub, an absolute gem. Staff were so lovely, helpful and friendly. Food was as fab as ever and the steps put into place to protect against Covid would make even the most anxious feel at ease. Such a lovely evening. My new local from now on

An idyllic village freehold pub in picturesque surroundings, with caring owners, a wonderful beer garden, a serving hatch and a very safe children’s play area. The pub was refurbished while closed during the COVID19 ‘lockdown’ and the owners have implemented many safety measures. I visited on the first day of opening and naturally I was a little anxious. The pub was fresh, immaculately clean, the staff were reassuring and the whole experience let me feeling very safe and my anxiety faded. There is a one-way system, a ‘one in, one out’ policy in the toilets, tables have been removed to increase space, there are Perspex screens between the tables inside the pub, there are hand sanitisers everywhere and the toilers were immaculate. The beer was excellent and although I didn’t eat there on this visit, I have eaten there many times before and I’ve never had a bad experience. Well done everyone!
