Recently reopened with a new landlord. It's a charming country pub, very cozy and comfortable. Friendly staff and locals. Great selection of beverages and an impressive menu. I have not eaten here yet personally so I can't rate the food, however I sat with people who were and it looked great and they definitely enjoyed their meals. I believe food is available from Wednesday to Sunday with a roast on Sunday. I hope it's successful because the pub is a great asset.

The Sunday lunch service we had was vey prompt and friendly. Our lunch was hot and so much food I could not finish mine. It was one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in a long time. I will certainly let my friends and family know and we certainly will be back for another meal.

As locals we avoided the Arnold Arms as an eatery as the food was dire. Now it's under new management and has a new chef, I can safely state that the food and service is excellent. It's also very reasonable with plenty of choice on the menu. Don't rely on the old website though, it's undergoing a face-lift.

We went in for lunch yesterday having not been in since the kitchen reopened. I had the Fish & Chips and my partner had the Tempura Cauliflower and the Soup or the Day. We were very happy with everything. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was served quickly and was delicious, and there was a nice chilled atmosphere. On top of that the pricing seemed very reasonable. It's lovely to have the pub back in the village and we'll definitely be back again.

I’d already heard good things about the Sunday roast, so I knew we wouldn’t be disappointed but wow!! Everything about it was even better than I could’ve hoped for. Everything on the plate was delicious, well done that chef 🫡 … but it’s not just the amazing food, the pub itself is comfortable and welcoming and the staff as lovely as ever (special thanks to Sophie for looking after us). The rare beef was out of this world, the best I’ve tasted! I’d like to keep this gem a secret but it’s only fair to them to sing their praises so everyone can enjoy it!!

So pleased to see the pub open again ! Even with it being the pubs opening day, and being really busy, the new tenants made time to make everyone feel welcome. Was great to see the community support and how happy everyone was to have the pub open again, enjoying the sun, the garden and each others company. I’m looking forward to the food starting and if it’s as good as the staff and atmosphere that I saw on Saturday, it will be out of this world and cement the pub being a great asset to the village.

Sadly like much rubbish on the internet your information on this pub is out of date and false info this particular pub has changed hands or been closed on and off for years - we wish the new tenants the best however - too many TVs it has lost its pub feel nothing worse in going out for a drink and there is children in the bar - decor was excellent in the previous tenancy - but know does not flow need an open fire - a few flowers would be good Roy

We have had an awful lunch today here! We ordered a sharing ploughman’s lunch and a bowl of chips. Well I’ve had plenty of ploughman’s meals in my time but this one was laughable. Two slices of ham, one pickled onion cut into four, one tiny slice of bread cut into four quarters(should have been crusty bread). Four tiny quarters of cheese and a tiny pot of pickle and some very thinly sliced apple. No pork pie or butter to go on the dry bread. They had forgotten the chips but when they did come we’re not cooked …… all for £15.95!! We were starving when we came out. They did knock the price of our meal off our bill but that really is not the point. Put your coat on too as it was freezing in the restaurant!

I think we hit upon a very busy afternoon and perhaps some staff shortages, we were kept waiting for our food for an unacceptable amount of time… possibly in excess of 1.5 hours. One us didn’t receive their yorkie until after they’d finished their meal. Parsnips were undercooked and we’re hard to eat. A 10month old was ordered a Yorkshire pudding £2 if bought as an extra) and portion of peas all served in a ramekin dish, this was charged at £6.95, which I considered a diabolical amount. Staff were all pleasant and industrious. Atmosphere warm and welcoming. Bottle of Sauvignon to be recommended

I can't recommend this pub as a place to eat. It was 2pm when we ordered the food. It eventually came after almost an hour. I had asked the man behind the bar after 40mins, where the food was? He said it would be right out. 20 mins later it arrived. It wasn't worth waiting for. My ham, Eggs, chips, and salad, consisted of two slices of ham from a supermarket packet of thinly sliced circular ham; two eggs with solid yolks, soggy lettuce, and chips that had been reheated so often they were like balsa wood. The lady who served the food was very nice. Al in all, I didn't realise that there were still pubs as bad as this. Shocking!

Stayed with our friends who have lived in the village for 17 years, but this is the first time they have been confident enough to show off their local to us as their guests. I was very excited given my surname matches the pub!! This pub has had a huge make over since we last drove past. A lot of thought has clearly gone in to it's lay out and caters for all needs. A warm welcome by the staff, The Arnold Arms has cosy spaces, open fires, family dining area, pool table, is very dog friendly and boasts a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. The 4 of us had a Sunday roast which was generous portions, very tasty and hot. Lovely choice of deserts as well. Keep up the good work and we'll visit again

We dined at the Arnold Arms in Barby a couple of weeks ago and the food was generally good, the ambience nice and the service friendly. There are a few areas however which make the reservation side quite frustrating, and the menu is not available on the web page. I booked a table for 8 people and was required to pay £40 up front, which I've never had to do before, and when I needed to reduce this to 6 people the only way using their user non-friendly system, was to rebook and then be asked to pay another £30. It does not seem possible to amend a booking that has already been made - which is ridiculous! This issue is made worse because they never answer the phone despite 8 attempts at different times when, they were supposedly open. The score would be higher except for these frustrations.

It was a mixed experience. The pub is really clean and the staff are very good, especially Inga. At first 3 of our meals came out and all the veg were cold and really hard. They had not had much cooking. They replaced our meals and the veg were hot but still really hard and not easy to cut. We were immediately offered a free drink for the inconvenience. So we all had coffee. They have not been open long and l feel it is teething troubles. We will try again in a few months. The actual main part of the meals were very good. It would be easy for them to just cook the veg a little longer.

Lovely little pub which we believe has just reopened after a refurbishment. Lovely decor and attentive staff. Great bar selection. We had burgers which were quite underwhelming tbh, just beef/chicken in a bun with chips. The best Moules a la Creme outside Brussels but for one thing, it was described as Moules Mariniere which it most definitely wasn,t. But the mussels were big, juicy, succulent in a cream sauce to die for. Pity the Chicken Kiev had no garlic butter AT ALL. And when I asked to talk to the chef to congratulate him on his mussels he never came - the difference between a family resturant and a commercial one. What a pity.

The Staff at The Olive Branch always have a smile and they are volunteers. Nothing is too much trouble and they always make us feel welcome. The Homemade Cakes look delicious and the large Cheese Scones are always eaten by my friends. In the colder weather my friends usually have their soup and I always see someone in there eating a Full English Breakfast at lunchtime.
