The George Hotel in Daventry

The service at the bar was in one word rubbish took money before drinks ready and then walk off to service someone else and when enquired about drinks told don’t be impatient and we would be served when ready. Which was very rude. We ordered the food at the table, when the food came to table given the wrong meal some one had started it and the member of staff was prepared to give it me which I refused. In one word would not go back. The food well not that good over cooked, the sauce tasted like vinegar. I definitely think they need to get a better chef. Would not recommend to anyone.

Had a great meal here lunchtime today. Food was great, service was faultless. Decor very nice. Will definitely be going again.

Naresh was our waiter and is always attentive. Food is immaculate and service to match. Our favourite pub by far.

Celebrated our friends 50th birthday today, Sunday lunch was excellent, we were served by Zak who was lovely, made sure everyone was happy with meals, answered question promptly, arranged a complimentary cake for the birthday girl, very good first experience for a Sunday lunch.

Great evening at the George, we were a table of ten celebrating a wedding anniversary. There were lots of staff and all were friendly and helpful, the food is amazing - great presentation and quality. They brought over a cake and two glasses of fizz for the celebratory couple as well which was a nice touch! Look forward to going back

Lovely team, we went for a family meal and the food was delicious, and great portion sizes. We were served by Zak, and he was very funny and very helpful! (Even put up with Nan’s poorly delivered jokes)

Fantastic restaurant, the service is excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Dropped off for some dinner to break out journey the 5 on seeing this lovely pub and we’re not disappointed. Really friendly staff - Lois served us and was attentive but not too much. we had the Lebanese sharing platter with crispy Hallumi which was truly delicious. Would highly recommend.

That being said, all of the staff have been friendly and helpful each time we have been here. I would recommend the chicken tikka pot pie starter and I always order a bloody mary when I eat here (they are superb but have a kick)

After reading all the positive reviews I decided to try it out. Big mistake. I ordered the ribeye steak. Crap! More fat and gristle than meat. I doubt it was a ribeye. Worst meat I ever did have placed in front of me. Handful of frozen chips and a couple of green leaves. Never again.

Had a lovely evening celebrating a birthday in the outside garden room. Was nice and cosy in there. Good food choices on the menu, food came hot and was delicious. The service was good from the beginning especially thanks too Naresh, Rhianna and Isabel. Will definitely be returning.

We dropped in here on our way back from a day trip and didn't know what to expect. But Wow!. The food was amazing, the service was great and the place itself is lovely. Even though we live an hour away, we'll definitely be back at some point.

Had a meal at the George on Saturday night and it’s was fantastic! Food was fantastic and the service was great! We went at 6 o’clock which I believe is the first sitting and it was lovely and quiet but did fill up throughout the evening. Would highly recommend if you are in the area! A lovely looking place we've often passed by and thought "we should go there one day" We had an excellent Sunday lunch there at the weekend, I had pork, the wife had beef, both were superb, with good portions and nice potatoes and vegetables. Inside it's very nice and with log burners going in winter was ever such a cozy place to spend a Sunday afternoon!

What a fabulous feast today. Italian buffet including fresh pasta cooked in front of us. Honestly everything we ate was delicious. Pretty sure it’s going to be a very popular place on a Saturday afternoon. The log burners were keeping the freezing temperature at bay. If you haven’t been there yet we’d highly recommend. The service from everyone is impeccable too.

We visited on Sunday as part of a large group and the service was very good - polite and attentive. The staff managed our large group very well. We provided preorders and had the option to change our selection on the day; the chef even made a dish for me from a previous menu. The quality of the food is high and the roasts are huge. Would highly recommend and will be returning soon!

Terrible service especially from the guy at the front desk (possibly the manager?) who was downright rude on multiple (at least 4) occasions. The food is good but not worth the price with the terrible service.

We have just visited the George in Kilsby from r Christmas dinner.. it was an amazing dinner, cooked to perfection, I had Beer wellington, it was fantastic.. lovely dinner.. fantastic service, even with it was busy! Lovely Christmas dinner!! Thank you!!

First time diners with our family for Christmas lunch and the food was exceptional, venue is fantastic (we were in the winter garden) and the servers worked really hard to make sure everyone was happy so a huge thank you for a memorable Christmas lunch and will definitely be back!

Unfortunately I can’t rate this place. Not from the area.. firstly the website states different menus and there is only one.. quiet night on a Tuesday asked to sit by the fire but was told they are fully booked at 4.30pm and nobody was in there.. food was generally dry not much flavour.. starter I went for the Korean wings but that came with celery sticks? Odd combo.. was ok.. partner had the pakora starter which was ok.. keralan Curran came out nicely presented and that tasted ok.. couldn’t fault that really. I had the veal.. totally wasn’t what I was expecting … dry with a mountain of rocket over the top of 2 pieces of deep fried battered veal. Veal was hard and so dry with a few potatoes and a separate ratatouille.. very disappointing.. there was no atmosphere at all waiter seemed nervous! Not much going on and wouldn’t recommend! Sorry! However they didn’t charge for my main meal so thank you for that but I wouldn’t have paid for that any way.. still £55.00 not very well spent.

We visited for a late Sunday lunch (3pm) and were a table of eight, with three young children. We were welcomed and shown to our table, which was clean and spacious. It took about 10 minutes for us to be given a menu, but then our drinks order was taken at same time so it didn’t feel like we were waiting around too long. Our food order was taken and food came out promptly. Three of us had started, which were JD chicken wings, salt & pepper squid and a chicken tikka pot pie. All were delicious. Main courses took a little while to come out, despite the restaurant not being too busy, and were a little hit and miss, with the roast dinner being complimented for the chicken and potatoes, but the Yorkshire got a thumbs down for being rock solid and the vegetable being a bit soggy. I had the chicken shawarma, which was 10/10. Really tasty with a lovely fresh salad. The pork cheeks were also top notch. We didn’t stay for desert, as the children were getting tired and bored, but overall this was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon meal.

Great extensive menus and a lot to choose from. Their Prix Fixe menu is value for money with a glass of wine too. Really enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Pot Pie, Lamb Rogan Josh Pie, Desserts and Cocktails in particular. Very good service and vibe, can't wait to revisit with the rest of the family.

Of our four main dishes, one was mediocre and for the other we asked for the dip to be on the side only. It wasn't and the dish was rejected. It returned quickly which made me wonder how it could have been recooked. Neither of the two waiters checked if it was OK. There were no specials which I like to choose from and the massala fries only had a sprinkling of salt and pepper. We were given dessert menus but the waiter did not return for the order. We had to come to the bar for the bill. On leaving, we noticed the waiters were busy cleaning another room. It's unlikely we will return, particularly with guests. If you needed us to leave at a certain time, you could have advised us when we booked on the phone. Meal with 2 alcoholic and 2 soft drinks £107 plus service. NB This is the response we gave to an email requesting feedback. We had a reply saying it would be investigated and we will receive a response but nothing.

Booked table in the bar, staff instantly brought water bowl for our dog. They were so friendly and just the right amount of attention. Food was great and would highly recommend

Food was nice but just a bit to cold for us as we like are food hot especially a Sunday roast we did have to ask to order food and when food came out, we didn’t get veg and potatoes until we have eaten half the roast dinner and after finishing dinner, it took them half an hour to clear up and then we have to wait 20 minutes for someone to take to order for dessert I do think food would be lovely if it was hot and I do think staff needs training on how to take orders and bringing everything to the table all at the same time

Booked monday evening for 3 on arrival nobody there the 3 you giggly kids appeared giggling away took us to are seat .gave us the menu .but we wanted fixed menu and was told that was only at lunch time ( doesnt say anything about that on your menu) giggling away was asked if we wanted a drink .so got drinks and ordered food aman appered and sayed food will be a little longer because they where having a photo shoot. food was great sevice had alot to be desired im a chef been in catering 43 year and never had service like it very unprofesional and trainning should be updated sorry want be back

Traditional coaching inn on Telford’s Holyhead route. Now geared towards eating so attracts a clientele to suit.

Passing by and saw a few reviews and thought we’d give a try for lunch - did not expect to get some excellent Asian tapas for lunch - definitely a place to give a try

Haven't been here for a bit so had lunch with a mate of mine there today. Pre booked but I reckon you'd be alright if you just rocked up. If I was gonna be hyper critical, fried eggs with the brunch not poached as on the menu but not a show stopper for me and I didn't mention it either. I reckon it's a nice place for lunch and priced OK. Happily recommend it and may give Sunday lunch anther go soon too. Good pub in great location close to Rugby and the Rugby Borough football ground. Easy access to / from Rugby just a short drive away. Food was good, varied menu.

We went to The George tonight to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. We were a party of 25 and the staff were so good and polite. The food was amazing and delicious especially the beef roast dinner and the Indian street food. We will definitely be returning. We absolutely loved it Thankyou.

We visited The George with Friends on Bank Holiday Friday. We were greeted by friendly smiling staff and a bustling, busy restaurant and bar area. Our table was in the Garden Room and was perfect for a Summer evening. Despite being busy the service was prompt and efficient and the food absolutely delicious. We tried a number of the fusion dishes between us and all were demolished! There was a superb singer playing which added to the atmosphere and all in all a great evening was had by all.

Great infusion of food and culture that is not to be missed. The team are very welcoming and the small plate foods are delivered in pleasing presentation and simply delicious, the masala fries are a worthy order. Worth a little detour for a relaxing, refreshing break with friendly staff and great choice of food and drink.

Sunday dinner was very nice today but at £20 for a pork chop (all beit a lovely cooked one) a few vegetables and 3 tiny roast potatoes seams overly priced. Just home and still hungry!. Unfortunately I won't be returning again purely on cost and the portion size alone.

Went with a friend to see some more local pubs, The George is lovely, beautiful garden and restaurant area, excellent service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Food looks and tastes delicious! Thanks Naresh for a great experience!

Wow!!! Blown away by this place. Ate with a friend in the garden room. Firstly, lovely venue. Menu was really great and my brunch was top notch . Highly recommend. My only tiny downside was the waitress was very very quietly spoken and serious. Needs to speak up and chill a bit. Will definitely return .

Food very good, apart from over cooked pudding, time to eat lunch, not so. It’s not cheap and when paying more than the norm, I like an experience, not to be rushed from the table. It’s says you have a 2 hour slot but it’s not always long enough by the time you have a drink order your food, eat it then dessert, and of course you are chatting with your friends having a nice time. We were still drinking our coffee when told to leave the table early. Too regimented and pressured, told to sit in the bar, as next booking had arrived to take our table which had to be cleaned, so actually only 1hr 45 mins was given. Greedy for money. It felt like a very expensive machine shop, then given another parties bill. So hurry up eat up and pay a lot! Sunday lunch £20 but you have to pay another 75p for a Yorkshire pud 😖 😂 they won’t be getting my money again

We were on our back from Wales and wanted to stop abt an hour away from our home in Milton Keynes. We had our dog with us. The staff were happy to accommodate us for lunch in the bar area, were very welcoming/friendly and even gave our dog a bowl of water on arrival. The menu was lovely. Service was good with friendly staff and I have to say o had the most delicious gluten free pepperoni pizza ever. My husband had the fish & chips which he enjoyed very much. The ambience and decor was lovely & nice contemporary music playing in the background. We would definitely visit again and I highly recommend - thank you!

What a pleasant surprise this was, On an early Monday evening, we called in to The George at Kilsby for a bite to eat, The staff were very pleasant and friendly, the place had a really welcoming feel to it once inside, We didn't have to wait long for our food, after the waitress took our orders, on arrival the food was hot and delicious, highly recommend a visit to this place, it's a shame we missed tapas night, The Biggest surprise came when i asked for the bill,?? it was very reasonably priced, for what we had... My husband and I have just returned home from a fabulous lunch at this lovely pub. I had the vegetarian Sunday roast and my husband had the beef. They were both exceptional! We were seated in their garden room which is just lovely. The staff, the food and the ambiance are 10/10. We can’t wait to go back.

Fabulous food. Calamari and fish platter were both excellent. Highly recommended. Staff were courteous and pleasant. An admirable dining experience.

The staff were attentive and provided a good level of service. I didn't have a starter in preparation for the 'George mixed grill', and while the food tasted good, there wasn't much of it... so a little disappointed given the price, but I have a big appetite.

Lovely Sunday roast. Beef was perfect, as was the roast chicken. Also the sea bass was beautiful. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. We were in the bar area with our two dogs and took our drinks out to the garden when we’d had lunch. Lovely space.

We had a great evening out at The George. The outside Winter Garden was fabulous . Good vibe, full (so book!), excellent food and proper cocktails 😍 We had the Lebanese sharing board (shakshuka was awesome) and then some small plates to share. Sampled many cocktails 😁 Nice to go to a family run place that appreciates their customers and ensures that a good experience is had. We had a few drinks in the main more traditional bar which was lovely as well . I would like to return and try the lamb shank tagine x

Avoid at All Costs: A Horrendous Experience of Neglect and Mediocrity My recent encounter with the George was nothing short of a nightmare, a tale of abysmal service and repulsive cuisine. Despite having made a reservation, the staff seemed utterly clueless upon my arrival. I was forced to repeat my booking name multiple times to indifferent employees who couldn't be bothered to assist properly. After enduring a tedious wait, I was begrudgingly directed to a table with all the warmth of a cold draft. And then, the food. Oh, the food! The calamari, if it can even be called that, was a sad excuse for seafood – frozen and of such dismal quality that I questioned its edibility. The kids' pizza was a pathetic attempt at portion control, simply slicing a frozen disc in half and presenting it as a meal fit for children. As for the main courses, the sea bass and pasta dishes were nothing short of insults to the culinary arts, evidently nuked in a microwave and served with a side of contempt. It's no wonder the restaurant sat nearly deserted; patrons wisely avoiding the catastrophe that awaited within. Spare yourself the agony and steer clear of this establishment. They possess neither the competence to deliver decent service nor the skill to prepare palatable meals. Save your time, money, and taste buds from this pit of incompetence and mediocrity.

So, a lovely meal was had by all 4 of us. 3 different mains, 4 puds and each was really, really lovely. The staff were great - the right balance of being attentive and giving us space to enjoy the meal. I had a butter chicken pie - delicious, the cod cheeks and steaks were amazing too. I can't fault it being fair. Thanks to the whole staff - brilliant!

This was our first visit to The George and we loved it. There were 4 of us dining and all ordered something different, we had food envy of each others choices - the Sunday dinner looked amazing! Great gluten free choices for me, with everything clearly stated on the menu. I’m not usually a pizza lover but with the Asian twist, I opted for the chicken tikka pizza. It was delicious and so large the staff offered to box half of it for me to take home. The decor is lovely, the staff welcoming and the service very good. The summer garden looks fab, so will definitely return in the near future!

We weren’t informed that we would be seated in the annexe where there was live entertainment. Given the choice, we would have requested the main restaurant as it was a family get-together and we wanted to chat. The service was poor, although the staff were friendly and courteous. One meal arrived well before all the others, one of our party’s order was forgotten. Some of the quality wasn’t great. I felt that, as it was Steak Night, they expected most customers to order steak. Although we were given discount on the bill as a concession, sadly we won’t be returning.

We have passed this place loads of times and always wanted to visit. Well, on this one occasion, we decided to give it a go, we had not booked and being a Sunday we thought we would not be able to get a table. But they managed to find us a table. I had the 1/2 chicken roast which was delicious and lots of vegetables My wife had a chicken burger which again was delicious. I would highly recommend this pub/restaurant.

Poor service, had a different waiter every time one came to the table. Sunday dinner was greasy and greens were definitely over salted. So much gravy you could swim in it! A good portion of meat tho! The biggest disappointment was the desert. Sticky toffee pudding was completely inedible. Tasted like it had a bag of sugar in it, grainy texture and so sweet it made me instantly feel sick. No idea how they got this so very wrong! Over priced, you get better at the local carvery!

We have visited the George a few times as a large group and the services has always been fantastic. The menu, and their take on some classics, is delicious! Would recommend the Buratta Butter chicken pie, the crispy duck salad and the sea bass have all been stand out dishes which we order again again. Highly recommend!
