Booked table in the bar, staff instantly brought water bowl for our dog. They were so friendly and just the right amount of attention. Food was great and would highly recommend

We booked for 7.30pm for 4 including our two guests. We shared two starters which were both very good. Of our four main dishes, one was mediocre and for the other we asked for the dip to be on the side only. It wasn't and the dish was rejected. It returned quickly, which made me wonder how it could have been recooked. Neither of the two waiters checked if it was OK. There were no specials which I like to choose from and the massala fries only had a sprinkling of salt and pepper. We were given dessert menus but the waiter did not return for the order. We had to come to the bar for the bill. On leaving, we noticed the waiters were busy cleaning another room. It's unlikely we will return, particularly with guests. If you needed us to leave at a certain time, you could have advised us when we booked on the phone. Meal with 2 alcoholic and 2 soft drinks £107 plus service. NB This is the response we gave to an email requesting feedback. We had a reply saying it would be investigated and we will receive a response but nothing.

Passing by and saw a few reviews and thought we’d give a try for lunch - did not expect to get some excellent Asian tapas for lunch - definitely a place to give a try

Had a lovely meal at the George. Great service and good atmosphere. Nice place for a Friday night date night. Masala fries were amazing!!! Definitely will be back.

Haven't been here for a bit so had lunch with a mate of mine there today. Pre booked but I reckon you'd be alright if you just rocked up. If I was gonna be hyper critical, fried eggs with the brunch not poached as on the menu but not a show stopper for me and I didn't mention it either. I reckon it's a nice place for lunch and priced OK. Happily recommend it and may give Sunday lunch anther go soon too. Good pub in great location close to Rugby and the Rugby Borough football ground. Easy access to / from Rugby just a short drive away. Food was good, varied menu.

Took my family for a meal last night for my daughter’s birthday. The first time we have been to the George and we had a fantastic meal . A great environment with outstanding service. We shall be recommending you to all our friends and we will be back very soon. Thank you

The tapas on the lunch menu were amazing. Me and hubby had a good selection and enjoyed them all! Great friendly service too, needless to say we’ll be back for sure!

We went to The George tonight to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. We were a party of 25 and the staff were so good and polite. The food was amazing and delicious especially the beef roast dinner and the Indian street food. We will definitely be returning. We absolutely loved it Thankyou.

We visited The George with Friends on Bank Holiday Friday. We were greeted by friendly smiling staff and a bustling, busy restaurant and bar area. Our table was in the Garden Room and was perfect for a Summer evening. Despite being busy the service was prompt and efficient and the food absolutely delicious. We tried a number of the fusion dishes between us and all were demolished! There was a superb singer playing which added to the atmosphere and all in all a great evening was had by all.

Great infusion of food and culture that is not to be missed. The team are very welcoming and the small plate foods are delivered in pleasing presentation and simply delicious, the masala fries are a worthy order. Worth a little detour for a relaxing, refreshing break with friendly staff and great choice of food and drink.

Sunday dinner was very nice today but at £20 for a pork chop (all beit a lovely cooked one) a few vegetables and 3 tiny roast potatoes seams overly priced. Just home and still hungry!. Unfortunately I won't be returning again purely on cost and the portion size alone.

Went with a friend to see some more local pubs, The George is lovely, beautiful garden and restaurant area, excellent service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Food looks and tastes delicious! Thanks Naresh for a great experience!

Wow!!! Blown away by this place. Ate with a friend in the garden room. Firstly, lovely venue. Menu was really great and my brunch was top notch . Highly recommend. My only tiny downside was the waitress was very very quietly spoken and serious. Needs to speak up and chill a bit. Will definitely return .

Food very good, apart from over cooked pudding, time to eat lunch, not so. It’s not cheap and when paying more than the norm, I like an experience, not to be rushed from the table. It’s says you have a 2 hour slot but it’s not always long enough by the time you have a drink order your food, eat it then dessert, and of course you are chatting with your friends having a nice time. We were still drinking our coffee when told to leave the table early. Too regimented and pressured, told to sit in the bar, as next booking had arrived to take our table which had to be cleaned, so actually only 1hr 45 mins was given. Greedy for money. It felt like a very expensive machine shop, then given another parties bill. So hurry up eat up and pay a lot! Sunday lunch £20 but you have to pay another 75p for a Yorkshire pud 😖 😂 they won’t be getting my money again

We were on our back from Wales and wanted to stop abt an hour away from our home in Milton Keynes. We had our dog with us. The staff were happy to accommodate us for lunch in the bar area, were very welcoming/friendly and even gave our dog a bowl of water on arrival. The menu was lovely. Service was good with friendly staff and I have to say o had the most delicious gluten free pepperoni pizza ever. My husband had the fish & chips which he enjoyed very much. The ambience and decor was lovely & nice contemporary music playing in the background. We would definitely visit again and I highly recommend - thank you!

What a pleasant surprise this was, On an early Monday evening, we called in to The George at Kilsby for a bite to eat, The staff were very pleasant and friendly, the place had a really welcoming feel to it once inside, We didn't have to wait long for our food, after the waitress took our orders, on arrival the food was hot and delicious, highly recommend a visit to this place, it's a shame we missed tapas night, The Biggest surprise came when i asked for the bill,?? it was very reasonably priced, for what we had... My husband and I have just returned home from a fabulous lunch at this lovely pub. I had the vegetarian Sunday roast and my husband had the beef. They were both exceptional! We were seated in their garden room which is just lovely. The staff, the food and the ambiance are 10/10. We can’t wait to go back.

Fabulous food. Calamari and fish platter were both excellent. Highly recommended. Staff were courteous and pleasant. An admirable dining experience.

The staff were attentive and provided a good level of service. I didn't have a starter in preparation for the 'George mixed grill', and while the food tasted good, there wasn't much of it... so a little disappointed given the price, but I have a big appetite.

Lovely Sunday roast. Beef was perfect, as was the roast chicken. Also the sea bass was beautiful. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. We were in the bar area with our two dogs and took our drinks out to the garden when we’d had lunch. Lovely space.

We had a great evening out at The George. The outside Winter Garden was fabulous . Good vibe, full (so book!), excellent food and proper cocktails 😍 We had the Lebanese sharing board (shakshuka was awesome) and then some small plates to share. Sampled many cocktails 😁 Nice to go to a family run place that appreciates their customers and ensures that a good experience is had. We had a few drinks in the main more traditional bar which was lovely as well . I would like to return and try the lamb shank tagine x

Avoid at All Costs: A Horrendous Experience of Neglect and Mediocrity My recent encounter with the George was nothing short of a nightmare, a tale of abysmal service and repulsive cuisine. Despite having made a reservation, the staff seemed utterly clueless upon my arrival. I was forced to repeat my booking name multiple times to indifferent employees who couldn't be bothered to assist properly. After enduring a tedious wait, I was begrudgingly directed to a table with all the warmth of a cold draft. And then, the food. Oh, the food! The calamari, if it can even be called that, was a sad excuse for seafood – frozen and of such dismal quality that I questioned its edibility. The kids' pizza was a pathetic attempt at portion control, simply slicing a frozen disc in half and presenting it as a meal fit for children. As for the main courses, the sea bass and pasta dishes were nothing short of insults to the culinary arts, evidently nuked in a microwave and served with a side of contempt. It's no wonder the restaurant sat nearly deserted; patrons wisely avoiding the catastrophe that awaited within. Spare yourself the agony and steer clear of this establishment. They possess neither the competence to deliver decent service nor the skill to prepare palatable meals. Save your time, money, and taste buds from this pit of incompetence and mediocrity.

So, a lovely meal was had by all 4 of us. 3 different mains, 4 puds and each was really, really lovely. The staff were great - the right balance of being attentive and giving us space to enjoy the meal. I had a butter chicken pie - delicious, the cod cheeks and steaks were amazing too. I can't fault it being fair. Thanks to the whole staff - brilliant!

This was our first visit to The George and we loved it. There were 4 of us dining and all ordered something different, we had food envy of each others choices - the Sunday dinner looked amazing! Great gluten free choices for me, with everything clearly stated on the menu. I’m not usually a pizza lover but with the Asian twist, I opted for the chicken tikka pizza. It was delicious and so large the staff offered to box half of it for me to take home. The decor is lovely, the staff welcoming and the service very good. The summer garden looks fab, so will definitely return in the near future!

We weren’t informed that we would be seated in the annexe where there was live entertainment. Given the choice, we would have requested the main restaurant as it was a family get-together and we wanted to chat. The service was poor, although the staff were friendly and courteous. One meal arrived well before all the others, one of our party’s order was forgotten. Some of the quality wasn’t great. I felt that, as it was Steak Night, they expected most customers to order steak. Although we were given discount on the bill as a concession, sadly we won’t be returning.

We have passed this place loads of times and always wanted to visit. Well, on this one occasion, we decided to give it a go, we had not booked and being a Sunday we thought we would not be able to get a table. But they managed to find us a table. I had the 1/2 chicken roast which was delicious and lots of vegetables My wife had a chicken burger which again was delicious. I would highly recommend this pub/restaurant.

Poor service, had a different waiter every time one came to the table. Sunday dinner was greasy and greens were definitely over salted. So much gravy you could swim in it! A good portion of meat tho! The biggest disappointment was the desert. Sticky toffee pudding was completely inedible. Tasted like it had a bag of sugar in it, grainy texture and so sweet it made me instantly feel sick. No idea how they got this so very wrong! Over priced, you get better at the local carvery!

We have visited the George a few times as a large group and the services has always been fantastic. The menu, and their take on some classics, is delicious! Would recommend the Buratta Butter chicken pie, the crispy duck salad and the sea bass have all been stand out dishes which we order again again. Highly recommend!

First time at this pub but it wont be the last. Friendly staff, choice of extensive light lunch menu (sandwich’s wraps etc) or a la carte. Reasonably priced and delicious. We were a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their food.

Excellent Sunday lunch! We had a mix of dishes including a roast, a kofte burger, some Lebanese options. All delicious! Friendly service, moved our table from restaurant area to bar so that we could bring the dog in. Will definitely be returning. Especially for the roast, in my case!

Lovely venue with ample parking. All of the food was incredible, impossible to pick a favourite from starter/main/dessert which speaks volumes. Rare to find somewhere that does it all exceedingly well! Easily the best food we’ve experienced in a pub in a long time, credit to Hari & his team for creating something special.

Struggled to find somewhere to park as both car parks were full, but was pre-warned about this so was expecting it. We were a party of 5 and in 2 hours we only received 1 round of drinks and main meals. The meal was nice, but was quite small and pricey for what we received. I don't mind paying the price if it's worth it, but this wasn't. We then wanted desserts but gave up after waiting for over 30 minutes before a waiter came over, so in the end we just asked for the bill. The manager took 10% off the bill which was a nice gesture, but still paid almost £150 for 5 mains, 3 soft drinks and 2 pints of beer. Overall, very disappointed customers that took a trip to McDonalds on the way home to fill the gap that was left, so all in all a VERY disappointing night!

Food was delicious, waiters were friendly, however it took ages for them to service us and weren't very attentive. We then waited 45minutes to order a dessert which in the end. A bit of shame when I've heard so many good things about it.

I had heard good things about this pub and booked to come here for a roast with my friend who was visiting from London. The car parks were completely full, but there were people parked along one side of a double yellow lined road opposite the pub (a dead end road with no reason to have double yellows), so we chanced it thinking that as so many people were parked there, it must be OK on a Sunday, but we got a ticket (and so did the others parked along there)- it's definitely a trap for the traffic cops to fleece people. They must show up at peak times to ruin people's day. The venue itself is lovely- well decorated and maintained. We were seated in an extension part of the pub. The service was friendly, but quite disorganised and slow; I personally think they over-booked. The food was nice, but I feel a tad overpriced, especially for the veggie roast. £20 for veg, roast potatoes, one Yorkshire, some gravy and a falafel thing is pretty steep. They took a long time to take our order, brought the wrong food out to our table the first time, took 20 minutes to bring me a single espresso and my friend had to go to the bar in the main part of the pub to pay because nobody came to take our payment. If they had fewer guests at a time they would be able to offer better service... and their patrons would have somewhere to park!

We (family of 4 adults) have just been for a lovely meal and I have come home to write a well deserved review. We all ordered something different, Sunday roast, fish and chips, a 1/2 chicken and a chicken salad. I cannot rate the food enough. It was amazing. The service was excellent and all staff were friendly. The food was amazing. There was plenty of it and I couldn’t eat it all. It was cooked to perfection, it arrived hot and it was so tasty. So impressed. It was presented nicely too. We then had coffee and dessert. Again, beautifully presented, drinks were hot and the desserts were tasty. We will definitely be back. Thank you very very much!

We've eaten here a few times and the food is always great which is why we come back. Starters and mains were good, although the dessert was a little disappointing as you could tell it was bought it put on a plate and then charged a £6-8 a plate. The service has been questionable each time we've been including this visit and it really lets the place down. We were served by multiple staff and there seemed to be a lack of cohesion / organisation. We could see our drinks waiting at the bar for someone to bring, but again the lack of co-ordination meant they were sitting there for a while. After finishing our meal we had to get there attention to clean our table and ask for the bill. Things like this should happen as standard and they should continually be checking on you during the meal. It's such a shame that the service is not at the level of the food as this place has the potential to be a hidden little gem in the local area.

Hubby’s beef Sunday dinner looked amazing and he said the beef was amazing and it definitely looked it. I had the cod cheeks and oh boy did I finish the most amazing meal and if there had been any of the Malaysian sauce left I would have licked the plate! We ate in the restaurant, the decor and ambience was lovely and the staff members were attentive without being invasive if you know what I mean. I thought the drinks and cocktail menu was really good and enjoyed the vanilla and caramel expresso martini. We were too full to have dessert. We will be returning 🥰

Went for a birthday Sunday lunch with 25 of us. We were seated in the Winter garden which was beautiful. The staff were in no rush for us to be seated as we were mingling as everyone arrived. And certainly didn’t rush us off our table once we had finished. Food was delicious for everyone. Sunday roast was top rate! Succulent and tasty meat, well presented with extra bowls of roast potatoes and vegetables. If you don’t like gravy you might have to request no gravy as meat arrived with gravy on ( which was very tasty). Staff were excellent- very efficient, attentive and friendly and kept a close eye on our table without intruding. We have been here on a number of occasions and alway had good food and service. We will Definitely be coming back, especially for the very reasonably priced and delicious Sunday lunch. Thank you to all staff ( front of house and behind the scenes) for making the occasion so pleasant.

Had a wonderful evening to celebrate our son's 18th birthday. The food was excellent, staff were very attentive. They even played happy birthday and bought a cake out for him without our knowledge. Very thoughtful and kind. Thank you for making such an effort for a remembering occasion.

Went twice within 2 weeks as different sets of friends went with us. First time was Halloween on a Sunday, food was good, but service was awful. Got served by 7 different people, sometimes seeing staff within a couple of minutes and sometimes not seeing any for an hour. Despite feeling rushed as they told us they needed the table back, they made us wait an extra half an hour beyond the time they'd told us just to get the bill. Food was ok, not amazing compared to a lot of pubs. Second visit was a Saturday evening, service was no better and food average. Overall this place gets a lot of hype around the local area, everyone we took felt this was overhyped. I gave constructive feedback to the restaurant itself after the first visit. Seems like this was ignored and little done to improve. If a restaurant won't listen to customers trying to help, I believe this is a pretty bad reflection on them.

Rubbish Christmas Day. Check the reviews carefully the Christmas Day was rubbish food and rubbish service. I find it hard to believe the two reviews posted by a Rachel N. I’m no sure she was in the same place as me.

We have spent our 2nd Christmas Day dinner at the George… The food was outstanding - the staff were amazing on what was an extremely busy day …Every visit for meals I have had have been faultless… !!!! Well done to all at the George for making our Christmas special… if I could give more stars I would….

Christmas Day fiasco! Apologies for the long review but…. We arrived for our booking to find 4 groups of people leaving due to be told at least two hours to be seated, also 2 groups leaving having been seated and eating but not passing due to our food and service. Having nothing in the house for Christmas dinner I proceeded to negotiate to be seated and continue with our Christmas dinner. I watched ours and others food being walked across the car park in the rain to our tables no wonder the food was cold. Vegetable literally uncooked and meat over cooked and dry. There was no atmosphere, no heating and terrible service. It was very clear that they had opened purely for revenue and an opportunity to maximise profit over service. My wife wouldn’t let me walk out without paying so I coughed up just shy of £600! And I guess we mark it down to experience. 3 days later the owner calls with an apology and an offer to book for next year with 50% Off which I declined, I was then asked how can he make it better so I requested he had a think and let me know what he would refund……. Since then nothing from them. I fully appreciate things can go wrong however this is a service industry so on the day an apology, on the day an offer of discount or rebook not after he’d had a drink and plucked the courage up to open up to a shocking fiasco of a day. We eaten there before and found the food and service very good with low volume bookings but do not go on an important busy day!

Been going there since it opened and got to know the staff and always feel welcome. Good food every time we’ve eaten there. Can’t wait for the summer months as the beer garden is amazing. Although they have turned the outside in for a winter garden experience.

We rang the George regarding our Boxing Day booking explaining that we would have our dog with us and requested a particular table in the bar area, when we arrived that table was already occupied and so an awkward 10 minutes stood in the doorway whilst another table was made available for us by basically booting someone else into the restaurant. We then waited nearly 30 minutes to get a drink, they only had one server behind the bar. Our starters arrived and while the scallops were beautiful and the risotto tasted amazing, the rice was painfully undercooked and very chalky, this was pointed out to the server who checked with the chef and said that’s how it’s meant to be, the customer is clearly not always right here. Mains arrived, pork was dry so they offered more gravy, not quite the point. Parsnips were raw and inedible, the server explained that I had the core part of the parsnip, that still doesn’t explain why it wasn’t cooked. Overall the experience was a very expensive, underwhelming one. Would definitely not recommend.

Fantastic meal and service yet again. The garden room looks amazing, we will have to come back and check it out next time. The food was quick, presentation was lovely and very hot. The staff were warm and welcoming as always. The best bit of our meal was the apple crumble, the best we have ever had! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Christmas meal was poor in the extreme. Ignored when we arrived. There is not enough space to list all the faults but every course was well below an acceptable standard and service was dreadful. I find it difficult to believe the 5 star review as we were just one of so many complaining.

It was my first time going to The George and my first time eating Christmas dinner out (that will never be happening again). I had heard many good things about here but they completely let themselves down. We booked a table for 9 people for 14:30, we were seated at 16:30. The wait at the bar was ridiculous, multiple families waiting for tables so wanting a drink and only one person working the bar. We asked multiple times over the course of an hour and half and were given different and contradictory explanations. Once sat at the table we ordered drinks, most came out fine, but others were wrong. A waitress bought over a list of our pre-ordered (and pre-paid) food, this was missing a gluten free meal, despite us confirming in person weeks before. The starters were nice but the main was average at best. We ended up taking out deserts home with us, as we were then late for evening arrangements. It completely ruined our Christmas dinner, and put a dampener on the day. There were far too many bookings, I would suggest if you are going to do Christmas dinner next year, that you do two sittings at set times. I have to praise the waiting staff as they took the brunt of the complaints when it wasn’t their fault. The overall management of the day was poor. For £89.95 per person, I would expect a much better experience!

We pre-booked, pre-ordered and paid a £50 per person deposit for what was supposed to be a fabulous family meal on Christmas Day - we were a large table of 16 and were told at time of booking that we only had the table for...

What an absolute disaster Christmas Dinner 2023 was. We booked a table for 3 people for 2 pm. We arrived just before 2pm to be told we would have to wait as the previous sitting were still eating, we waited 1 hour 15 minutes to be seated and then a further 50 minutes with no food coming at which time we had had enough and decided to leave. The atmosphere was awful, whilst being seated a large table left having no dessert and another family leaving before being seated. Many angry people. You completely ruined our day which we had been looking forward to for so long. You clearly overbooked the place was a disaster. Never ever have we not eaten a Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. We felt sorry for the waiting staff they were being run ragged and the management were incompetent.

We arrived 10 minutes early for our pre-booked/ pre-ordered Christmas lunch which was supposed to be a relaxing enjoyable experience. On arrival we were greeted by what only be described as complete chaos! Tables had not been cleared so people had to stand around waiting....

The quality and portion size for the money was shocking, we ordered soup with rustic bread to start, to begin with, we were told it was pumpkin soup and then told that it was tomato, what arrived was a half bowl of very pale orange...

Went here on my mum's 80th birthday on Saturday 2nd March for lunch. 11 in our family party. Atmosphere great, food and service amazing. Would definitely recommend and return.
