Fox and Hounds in West Lindsey

I have been several times to the fox and hounds with my friends and family and we have never had a bad meal or a bad experience. The staff are always friendly and the food is always hot and on time.

Fantastic little traditional pub/BnB in the countryside. Great food, really good portion sizes for the prices. Very friendly staff, cracking full English for breakfast and quaint rooms on offer. Lincolnshire dartboard with a smaller sized pool table for entertainment

We have eaten here on two occasions. The food and service was excellent both times. Good choice of food at a reasonable price and a generous portion too.

Only went to dine.. Went for the first time today after a couple of people recommended it to me. Well all I can say was everything was excellent, the service, the food, the cost and the wait time. The food was amazing, the chips were proper chips, everything was fresh. The meat was quality and flavour was second to none. This is certainly a gem and will be back again in the future.

We visit a couple of times a year, the food is always excellent, had fish and chips today, delicious, and massive portions

we staying 2 nights in the area and tried this place on a quiet tuesday night and really glad we did staff were very welcoming and friendly. we both had steak pie omg it was huge stuffed with pieces of steak chips and veg were fresh not frozen glad we didnt order starters or desserts could never have eaten them £12 for main is amazing considering size and quality so impressed we booked for next night,again mains were massive i had pasta and partner had steak unfortunately the loudest and most ignorant man and his family had the next table bad language which the female staff did not address or were not aware. anyway we finished meal and quickly left. guess we were asking too much for a second visit but if in area again will definely visit this place highly recommend it.

Pub side is great. It's a busy place so don't expect quiet. Prices are very ok and teriyaki chicken I had was one of best I ever had. Parking may be an issue as really busy at times. Unfortunately if you plan to stay to sleep I wouldn't recommend as despite being a nice addition in good standard for cheap money it has two major flaws that were a deal-breaker. Roof is very flat and not insulated enough when raining, you hear every drop and not in a calming way. Feels like it's flooding all the time. Secondary - too close to pub part and you will not stop listening clearly to noise until 4am. No sleep at all, unless you use some stoppers, and then only maybe. I have had second to last room and it was as if I was inside a pub all night.

We have used this brilliant pub for a number of years and yet again it was brilliant as always.

I didn’t stay overnight, my friend & I had lunch here with our dogs. They are very dog friendly in the bar. Great service! & delicious food! At good prices too!

Most enjoyable Christmas lunch but the portion size was too big and 2 items of sweet were not available but still on the menu. Terry.

Haven't visited for many years when it was under different ownership, and hadn't been back since as the service wasn't good. Went with a friend today and the food was tasty and great value. The service was also really good as well so I'll definitely be back again soon.

Nice village place quiet and well presented

This place was recommended by a friend so we thought we'd try it. Well we certainly were not disappointed, the food was amazing. If you don't have a big appetite this place is not for you. The portions are huge and chips were probably the best I've had. I will definitely return here, even if it's half an hour drive as it was definitely worth the drive. For 2 soft drinks, 2 mains and 2 desserts it was £48 and worth every penny. Brilliant service as well, the young girls were very busy but certainly very attentive and friendly. Only down fall I would say was the conservatory where we were seated was a bit loud as big groups around us but that didn't spoil our evening. I just found it hard to have a conversation. Though I would advise booking as this lovely little place gets busy. Will definitely be returning very soon.

OMG this has to be the best tasting Yorkshire pudding and biggest I have ever eaten lol . The roast beef was delicious and nicely cooked swimming in lovely gravy. Mmm mmm washed down with a lovely glass of jack rabbit rosé wine (my new favourite). We didn't stay in the hotel rooms. But I really wanted to leave a review to let others know how nice there food is

Great bar staff such a friendly welcome the two ladies on the bar was such a laugh and had a laugh but ordered a chip butty I don't even think it will even fill a child

We went for dinner after a bit of research on local (Gainsborough) area restaurants. The staff and the atmosphere were pleasant. For starters we had seabass fishcake, which was very good, though the sweet chilli sauce was a little too powerful for the delicate flavours in the fishcake. The other starter were the cranberry and brie wontons which came out burnt black in places so I had it replaced with no fuss (really shouldn't have come out like it in the first place). Main courses were chicken wrapped in bacon with Stilton sauce (excellent) and the 'luxury' fish pie which was a case of quantity over quality. There was not a single prawn in the dish and it was mainly mashed potato. A very unexciting dish which would be better half the size with a decent number of the stated prawns included and a light mashed potato topping, then I would accept the 'luxury' designation. Maybe it was just a chefs off day but I expected so much more. In my opinion and just my opinion, the menu with the specials board is just too much for a restaurant this size to cope with.

Great little village pub. The food is traditional and delicious. The welcome as we walked in was lovely and friendly which having just moved to the area went a long way. We hadn't booked a table and managed to get one on a busy Friday evening with a small wait, which didn't matter as we enjoyed a drink at the bar. Gin & tonic wasn't served in a gin glass and thats my only gripe but it was busy so could have run out of clean ones my other half had a pint of Cola which he could tell was unbranded so didnt finish it as didnt like the taste. I can't rate the rooms as I haven't seen or stayed. Service at the table was prompt and polite. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making us feel welcome.

Went for Friday night fish and chips. Worst we've ever been served! Over cooked fish, dry reheated chips and not cheap! We won't be going again

Great countryside location with nice dining area in the conservatory, very good country pub food on the main menu and a good selection on the specials menu, all of the food is reasonable priced. Would highly recommend you book a reservation as it can get very busy in the dining area, the car park is small and get very busy.

If you are looking for a restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, value for money and decent portions then this is the place for you. Have eaten here a few times with family and haven’t been disappointed. The last meals we had were mixed grills and the BBQ ribs! Outstanding.

A lovely pub friendly staff excellent menu, Plenty of choices, something for everyone. Do children menu and portions recommend Steak and Ale pie excellent fish & Chips an Surf & Turf large portions so go hungry.

(Review of pub only) Stayed in the area on a 2-week UK vacation and stopped here for dinner. Typical pub fare (roast dinner, fish and chips, etc.) but well-executed and served promptly by a friendly and professional young staff. Prices were very reasonable. Not much of a beer selection but otherwise few complaints. Good solid pub that was full of locals on a weeknight.

Great home cooked style food...plenty of it (you get a proper plateful) and really good prices....battered fish is cooked to perfection..quiz night on a Friday which is good entertainment as well.

We had been recommended to visit and we were not disappointed. Starters were lovely - fish cake and garlic mushrooms. We both had fish and chips for the main course. I had the full portion and my wife had the “light bite”. With hindsight the light bite was very generous and would have been fine. The normal portion was huge. The fish was lovely and very well cooked. All in all the food was good and very reasonably priced. The staff were exceptional - had time for everyone even though they were very busy. Just brilliant.

Good food, loads of choices, and reasonably priced. Go early, it gets crowded later on! Don't know about rooms, as we only ate there, but judging from the standard of the food, accommodation should be good.

Nice homely feel. It's pub food rather than haute cuisine, but it all tastes good, the servings are huge (the small fish and chips is probably enough for anyone!) and the prices insanely affordable. The menu is vast, with dozens of options, catering for meat eaters, veggies and pescatarians alike. Beer is kept well. There's a fire, and a pool table too in the bar. It could probably use a wider range of soft drinks. Plenty of space too — a decent option for families, and enough space for large groups if you book in advance.

I enjoyed the best Christmas lunch, at this lovely pub, yesterday that I can remember for a very long time. The service, care and food were all exemplary. I have the greatest admiration for this establishment. Always open and serving food virtually seven days a week, what an achievement and a rarity in the Willingham by Stow area. Thank you so much.

Dined here for Saturday lunch. Good food selection and it was absolutely delicious. Check out the specials board for something different. The curry was excellent and a good portion size too. Best jam sponge and custard I have had in a long while.

Was told about this pub from the owner of the lodge we're staying at. So glad he recommended it to us. Atmosphere was fantastic and the food was absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend it to everyone. We will definitely be returning. x

I can't share a review on the rooms, but couldn't leave it at no stars. The staff were all lovely, and well managed. Resturant and bar were full to the brim and we had a short wait for a table (our own fault for turning up at peak time without booking). It didn't effect the top service in anyway, and we didn't wait long. Happily sat at the bar with a drink. Food was excellent and value for money. Atmosphere was homey and inviting. (Coke on draught not pepsi...And they were proper chips too!)

Stayed one night on the way up to Yorkshire. Very nice and clean room. Both evening meal and breakfast was excellent.

Stayed here on Sat 9th Sept, room 9 was spotlessly clean, excellent choice from the dinner menu, quality of the food was superb. I would recommend anyone to stay here, accommodation cost was very reasonable too. Staff were very friendly Can't fault the place, filling breakfast too. 9.5/10 would have loved black pudding on the breakfast menu and they would have received a 10/10.

We were recommended to this pub by Hugh at Brampton Dales Farm for an evening meal. Wow, what a find, we will be here EVERY night during our 4 night stay. Superb food, my Goan Lamb curry was out of this world, so authentic & my husbands Turkey roast outstanding, very generous portions & so tasty. The staff are so friendly, & work as a great team. The prices are extremely competitive, a perfect recommendation. Thank you for a superb evening, we are VERY impressed.

The food was great. We both had Glastonbury Lamb which was tasty filling and the lamb was very tender. Ice cream and Lemon Meringue pie followed. A lovely meal in a pleasant setting with excellent service .Thankyou very much.

Visited today I had chicken tika curry and chips which were cooked to perfection. My partner had bbq ribs which just fell of the bone absolutely delightful. The staff were both efficient and polite nothing was too much trouble. Would thoughouly recommend a visit 5 star.

Four of us went on a Sunday teatime. The 2 adults had the roast beef which came with a huge Yorkshire pudding, well cooked tender beef, decent roasties, standard peas, carrot batons and cauliflower that were steamed I think. Gravy but had to ask for double as there was nowhere near enough for two. Children had scampi and chips and spag bol kids meals. All looked nice with no complaints. Desserts were had, the banoffee pie looked the best! Syrup sponge and sticky toffee pudding were disappointing and looked like a cheap shop bought job, as was the flavourless thin custard. Some really good points and some that could be better, but we enjoyed our meal and will be back.

We didn’t stay in the accommodation but only ate in the pub, which we have done so now for over 18 months, but unfortunately tonight’s experience was poor. The barmaid was rushed off her feet serving in the bar, taking food orders and bringing meals out from the kitchen. A family of 6 had to wait 30 minutes for their dessert and we decided to cancel our dessert order as it too was far too long. We saw the waitress once in an hour and it was evident that there were plenty of tables that needed to be cleared. Food was not up to its usual standard, chips were cold. We’re really saddened to have to complain as it’s usually an enjoyable experience. Staff issues need to be sorted to avoid further complaints. The barmaid was very apologetic when we left but this issue wasn’t her fault.

Haven’t been for ages but the food and service was still fab. We had a tradition pot of tea with proper cups and sorcery. Ribeye steak cooked to perfection and those amazing chips. Wife had steak and Stilton pie which was full of steak. Honest traditionally cooked food and very good price.
