Fox and Hounds in West Lindsey

(Review of pub only) Stayed in the area on a 2-week UK vacation and stopped here for dinner. Typical pub fare (roast dinner, fish and chips, etc.) but well-executed and served promptly by a friendly and professional young staff. Prices were very reasonable. Not much of a beer selection but otherwise few complaints. Good solid pub that was full of locals on a weeknight.

Great home cooked style food...plenty of it (you get a proper plateful) and really good prices....battered fish is cooked to perfection..quiz night on a Friday which is good entertainment as well.

We had been recommended to visit and we were not disappointed. Starters were lovely - fish cake and garlic mushrooms. We both had fish and chips for the main course. I had the full portion and my wife had the “light bite”. With hindsight the light bite was very generous and would have been fine. The normal portion was huge. The fish was lovely and very well cooked. All in all the food was good and very reasonably priced. The staff were exceptional - had time for everyone even though they were very busy. Just brilliant.

Went as part of a large group. Pre booked. Sent menu choices ahead to help the kitchen. Staff very helpful. Food was excellent and service was on time and really good.

Small but perfectly formed room. Quiet, relaxing location (though on the main road, so convenient) Friendly, helpful staff.

Good food, loads of choices, and reasonably priced. Go early, it gets crowded later on! Don't know about rooms, as we only ate there, but judging from the standard of the food, accommodation should be good.

Nice homely feel. It's pub food rather than haute cuisine, but it all tastes good, the servings are huge (the small fish and chips is probably enough for anyone!) and the prices insanely affordable. The menu is vast, with dozens of options, catering for meat eaters, veggies and pescatarians alike. Beer is kept well. There's a fire, and a pool table too in the bar. It could probably use a wider range of soft drinks. Plenty of space too — a decent option for families, and enough space for large groups if you book in advance.

I enjoyed the best Christmas lunch, at this lovely pub, yesterday that I can remember for a very long time. The service, care and food were all exemplary. I have the greatest admiration for this establishment. Always open and serving food virtually seven days a week, what an achievement and a rarity in the Willingham by Stow area. Thank you so much.

Dined here for Saturday lunch. Good food selection and it was absolutely delicious. Check out the specials board for something different. The curry was excellent and a good portion size too. Best jam sponge and custard I have had in a long while.

Was told about this pub from the owner of the lodge we're staying at. So glad he recommended it to us. Atmosphere was fantastic and the food was absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend it to everyone. We will definitely be returning. x

I can't share a review on the rooms, but couldn't leave it at no stars. The staff were all lovely, and well managed. Resturant and bar were full to the brim and we had a short wait for a table (our own fault for turning up at peak time without booking). It didn't effect the top service in anyway, and we didn't wait long. Happily sat at the bar with a drink. Food was excellent and value for money. Atmosphere was homey and inviting. (Coke on draught not pepsi...And they were proper chips too!)

Stayed one night on the way up to Yorkshire. Very nice and clean room. Both evening meal and breakfast was excellent.

Stayed here on Sat 9th Sept, room 9 was spotlessly clean, excellent choice from the dinner menu, quality of the food was superb. I would recommend anyone to stay here, accommodation cost was very reasonable too. Staff were very friendly Can't fault the place, filling breakfast too. 9.5/10 would have loved black pudding on the breakfast menu and they would have received a 10/10.

Excellent friendly service. Value for money food and accommodation which was bright and very clean. Full English Breakfast included in our overnight stay when booking direct with them. We were recommended to this pub by Hugh at Brampton Dales Farm for an evening meal. Wow, what a find, we will be here EVERY night during our 4 night stay. Superb food, my Goan Lamb curry was out of this world, so authentic & my husbands Turkey roast outstanding, very generous portions & so tasty. The staff are so friendly, & work as a great team. The prices are extremely competitive, a perfect recommendation. Thank you for a superb evening, we are VERY impressed.

The food was great. We both had Glastonbury Lamb which was tasty filling and the lamb was very tender. Ice cream and Lemon Meringue pie followed. A lovely meal in a pleasant setting with excellent service .Thankyou very much.

Visited today I had chicken tika curry and chips which were cooked to perfection. My partner had bbq ribs which just fell of the bone absolutely delightful. The staff were both efficient and polite nothing was too much trouble. Would thoughouly recommend a visit 5 star.

Four of us went on a Sunday teatime. The 2 adults had the roast beef which came with a huge Yorkshire pudding, well cooked tender beef, decent roasties, standard peas, carrot batons and cauliflower that were steamed I think. Gravy but had to ask for double as there was nowhere near enough for two. Children had scampi and chips and spag bol kids meals. All looked nice with no complaints. Desserts were had, the banoffee pie looked the best! Syrup sponge and sticky toffee pudding were disappointing and looked like a cheap shop bought job, as was the flavourless thin custard. Some really good points and some that could be better, but we enjoyed our meal and will be back.

We didn’t stay in the accommodation but only ate in the pub, which we have done so now for over 18 months, but unfortunately tonight’s experience was poor. The barmaid was rushed off her feet serving in the bar, taking food orders and bringing meals out from the kitchen. A family of 6 had to wait 30 minutes for their dessert and we decided to cancel our dessert order as it too was far too long. We saw the waitress once in an hour and it was evident that there were plenty of tables that needed to be cleared. Food was not up to its usual standard, chips were cold. We’re really saddened to have to complain as it’s usually an enjoyable experience. Staff issues need to be sorted to avoid further complaints. The barmaid was very apologetic when we left but this issue wasn’t her fault.

Haven’t been for ages but the food and service was still fab. We had a tradition pot of tea with proper cups and sorcery. Ribeye steak cooked to perfection and those amazing chips. Wife had steak and Stilton pie which was full of steak. Honest traditionally cooked food and very good price.

Went here today. Had fish chips and peas. My partner had scampi great service. Great place. Chips done in dripping. Oh wow so much choice. Will be coming back to try curries fish pie ect. Great prices ... And the staff amazing. Thank you so much. See you very soon ...

Extensive menu, great food, attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Huge portions and the chips were fantastic. There is also a large outside area for food and drinks. Large car park too! Book to avoid disappointment.

Worst Sunday lunch ever although the beef was tasty enough Yorkshire pudding was over cooked and the vegetables were tasteless. Two lots of potatoes roast and new both no flavour. Didn’t sample dessert as quality of main had put me off . Better places to eat, decor dated.

This wonderful place has an extensive menu. Nicely presented foods & very clean throughout. I had the braised beef in a large Yorkshire pudding with all trimmings! You need to be hungry to say the least! Sue had the liver & onions. We both had sweets. Lemon melange my choice & Sue had the banana split. Very reasonable in cost & the staff are very friendly. Comfortable seating & nice size tables. Highly recommended.

4 of us visited for lunch. We have been loads of times to this lovely restaurant and had amazing meals but this was not one of those times. Pork and beef were ordered with the beef choosers saying how little beef they had. The pork eaters found the veggies luke warm and the pork tasted processed and not from a fresh joint. The lack of potatoes necessitated a bowl of mash which was nice and hot. We will come again just not for a Sunday lunch.

Excellent Christmas quiz night with festive menu. Very well organised to cater for so many quizzers, good food and good portions, excellent value. Looking at the specials menu on the board there were some interesting choices at very reasonable prices. Will have to come back just for a meal!

Superior room was lovely and quiet and very comfortable. Staff all lovely. Reasonably priced drinks. Food amazing. Huge portions and very nice. Breakfast worth every penny. Excellent. Would definitely rebook.

The food was great for its value for the food portion recommend come and try the food ribs we're succulent with the meat falling right off the bone perfect sauce and the chips were cooked to perfection crispy outside nice soft inside eat it all and left no crumbs.

Great inn for accommodation, drink and food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room had everything you need and was very comfortable and very clean. Food was exceptional and well priced. Large secure car parking and very quiet. Will visit again Highly recommend

Such a shame with the Sunday lunch, staff here are pleasant, food usually so good but not todays roast. Plenty meat with 3 small roasties, 2 small new tates, desert spoon of peas and carrots, small piece of cawli! On hindsight i should have asked for more veg but they were starting to get very busy so we ate, paid and left

Visited mid week and were greeted by two ladies on the bar, both serving but politely acknowledged us before seating us in the lovely conservatory dining areaService was great, range of food options really good, prices very fair and hearty sized portionsSteak cooked to perfection and Teriyaki chicken tasted amazing! Brilliant food and service. Fish and chips were large portions and really tasty. I had liver and onions served in a large Yorkshire pudding (struggled to finish it all). Service was excellent and the waitress was very attentive. Always brilliant value for money.

Checked in at the bar area and was not given a warm welcome. Our key was given to us and we were dismissed. We stayed in chalet number four. The room was nice enough and generally clean except for the bathroom door that had weeks of grim and gunk on the handle. The bathroom door needed to be slammed shut and made a right noise it must of affected the chalet next door. the shower is not fit for function, the water was scalding and extremely dangerous. It was not possible to change the temperature at all. I am so pleased we had not small children as i was scalded badly, As for breakfast, give it a miss. Beakfast over cooked. The veggie sausage was so hard and dry I could not eat it as it was a tooth breaker. Toast burn and overall very poor all round. Staff ignored us for ages and our teas and coffees took ages to appear which was poor given we were the only people in the place .

Had a lovely meal as always but didn’t appreciate the waiter approaching us three to times to ask if we had finished, when it was quite obvious we were still eating! Then he kept peering over every time he entered the conservatory, making us feel we had to rush, even though he never asked the others who were dining there. Wasn’t overly busy either. Would like to have been left to enjoy the meal without interruptions. Apart from that, food was lovely.

We visited on 31/8/2020 celebrating a family special birthday. We were made very welcome and had excellent service despite it being very busy. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and meals were brought out quickly. The food was very good and was especially good value due to ‘eat out to help out’. I highly recommend anyone to give it a try.Thank you for a lovely evening out!

We visit here most Saturdays as a table of 5 and have never had a bad meal yet, the service is always friendly and welcoming! The food is all homemade and the chips are to die for! Keep up the good work Ignore the bad reviews I find it very annoying when you look at people’s reviews and they only leave bad ones, 3 people from the same party deliberately trying to ruin a family business cos they couldn’t get there own way, shame on them!

We have been going the Fox and Hounds for about 2/3 years now. We have never had a bad experience from service to food and staff. This pub is by far the busiest and best we have ever been too. The manager Lee is amazing and Ethan in the kitchen is lovely! I’m aware in this strange time of covid that it’s not ideal to be in close proximity, but it’s a small country inn and they are always busy because they are so good. Food portions are huge! More than enough, you really don’t need a starter! Fantastic prices and lovely honest atmosphere, you really couldn’t ask for much more.Thankyou! Gemma & Darren

We went as a family, on 2 tables for a late birthday celebration. Members of our party turned up a few minutes early, a lady behind the bar very rudely told them they were early to which they replied that they knew and were and were going to have a drink outside first. We all ordered our meals and the waiters were lovely, but when we got our meals one was not what was ordered, we were then told what had been ordered was no longer available and so something else was selected. By the time this meal turned up everyone else had finished there meals. We were very much told it was the persons own fault by a very rude lady at the bar. Will not be going again.

Came in and was scorned for being 15 mins early, although just wanted to have a drink outside before our meal. Table wasn’t ready until almost half an hour after we booked. Not much choice available, but we were told after ordering that they were sold out; one meal arrived completely wrong and were yet again told they were Sold out of our first choice, by the time a meal had arrived everybody else had finished eating, no apology, bill slammed down at our table from the rude bar lady who had an attitude throughout. Very rude service

Went out for a family meal for the eat out to help out, to find the pub very poor on social distancing, felt very busy with the car park and road rammed of cars! The staff were very poor and the main women very rude and when confruted about a meal turning up after others had eaten there's she was not bothered saying she would still get paid for it!! Will not be going back.

Popped in for a meal whilst staying at the caravan site next door. Very warm welcome to a traditional village pub. Our dog was made a huge fuss off being given a bowl of water and treats of his own. The fish and chips was absolutely delicious. All in all a lovely pub with a great atmosphere serving superb food.

Visited this venue last night, the venue was very busy not much social distancing. I ordered a spinach and ricotta cannelloni which was tasty but also contained what looked like a chicken bone. I reported this to a member of staff and was told that they brought this in ! That was it, no apology !!!!!!! Wasn't the response I was expecting.

Nice warm welcome good implementation of Covid protection on bar and staff PPE. Restaurant was spotlessly clean and all tables fully cleaned after use. The food was lovely and portions of a very generous size at an affordable price. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening until the end when it was time to pay. We had to go into the bar to pay as no one came to take our money. The bar area is small and the locals were stood against the bar making it feel awkward when trying to pay. After seeing the measures the pub had in place it was disappointing to see they allowed this practice to happen. I would use the restaurant again but if they want my money then the staff will need to come to the table for it.

booked this place as it was convenient for my meeting.arrived to a packed bar area - checked in (at thge bar)Room was in an outside annex - small but clean- clean bathroom / towles.Bed was comfy with okay linen.WIFI was RUBBISH and the TV reception was not good (kept pixelating)had a meal in the busy restaurant (not enough staff but they did a great job)Meal was very good (chicken tikka) good portion size and value for money.I would defintly eat here again but dont think I'd stay. .

Visited as a family group of 5 for a birthday treat. All I can say is it was excellent, the food was lovely and plenty of it, all cooked to perfection, loved the home made chips. Good value for money, will definitely return,

Been here quite a few times over the last few years, nice old fashioned pub.The bar meals have always been very good with proper chips. Excellent value always a big plateful and not expensive. Not been for a while as we live across the bridge but will be back when in the area.

Just had the best pub meal I've had for years, chips with proper colour steak cooked to my liking, staff friendly and helpful, highly recommend and will definitely be going again

Celebrated my uncle’s 80th birthday with a lunch here. 6 in the party and all the meals - from light bites lasagne & fish & chips, through steak & ale pie and the turkey dinner, and the birthday boy’s mixed grill, all the menu options chosen were complimented. I’d also contacted them in advance to ask if they could cater for a non-meat eating Keto diet & was served a lovely salmon fillet with no sauce (but plenty of butter) and a mixed leaves/cucumber/walnut salad. Very friendly & helpful service and meal arrived very promptly despite the pub being full with a funeral party they were catering for.

We booked in for Sunday lunch which was lucky, because the restaurant was full. Easy to see why, it's a nice light dining room and there was a good selection of real ales.
