It's a pleasant little café that's a little quirky. It's relaxing to be there, but the decor is a bit tired. Don't be put off by this comment though, it's a good little place. Enjoy.

Not a great place. Food took forever to arrive. I had a ham and grated cheese sandwich. It came with a fairycake case of crisps. Very poor presentation and costly. £6.80 for my sandwich. Asked for sugar for my tea and was given a small drinking glass with it in, which was obviously used for everyone. On top of this the cleanliness was not great. Would not recommend this place.

This was a very relaxing, cool shady haven on a hot summer's day at Frinton on Sea. Food only got 4 stars because the menu wasn't that extensive but everything there is individual and lovely from the low sofas and painted cups and saucers to the beautifully bottled soft drinks. Lovely!

A cafe with both indoor and a few outdoor tables at the beach end of the high st. Its dog friendly which is nice. The menu was fairly limited with fresh and toasted sandwiches. Our first visit was on a quiet day in Winter with only 3 other tables filled. Service was slow and they'd run out out of several items. I gave them a 2nd chance and visited again recently . Sadly, this visit was even worse! I ordered and 15mins later, a sad looking teen said they'd run out out of part of my sandwich and could they use a substitute! Finally the meal came out and it was ok, despite the substitution. I went to the counter to pay. The older woman working was directly facing me at the counter- but said nothing and continued making coffees, going in and out of the kitchen etc. By the time I was 'served' 4 more people had queued behind me. The woman said she was short staffed, hence the wait. That didn't explain even a basic nod or 'I'll just be a minute' when I got to the counter. The woman was looking all around and I assumed trying to find the slip to see what meal I'd had. I pointed to my table and said: Me 'I was sitting over there' Woman 'It doesn't matter WHERE you sat, what did you have?' Me 'I had an XYZ sandwich and a diet coke' Woman 'Its doesn't matter WHICH sandwich you had!!!. That was one sandwich and a drink!' The conversation was accompanied by eye rolls and huffs from the woman. I won't be giving them another try, nor recommend them.

Amidst a lot of competition, this Cafe was a good find last year whilst on a short break. Staff hadn't changed on this visit, with Ian (who takes order, prepares and serves it) on duty, he struggles to cope on his own, same as last year. When over-run with customers the lady owner sometimes steps up to help. On his day off later in the week, two ladies did his job. A good selection on the menu, nicely presented and reasonably priced. I hope to visit again in the future, as it was nice to chat with the locals who frequent the venue.

Popped in for some lunch with the family as they had gluten free bread available. Sat down at one of the tables and waited ages to be served. When the woman came over to give us her drinks her nails were black and the drinks were served in plastic cups. We had to wait around 40 minutes just for 3 sandwiches / toasties, and during this time we noticed the fish tank of hell on the counter. This fish rank (not a typo), was literally thick with brown gunge and looking closer I could see that there was an actual fish in there!! Honestly the most disgusting fish tank I have ever seen. Instant regret as if they can't clean their fish tank what on earth are they doing with their kitchen! We were told there was no toilet but to be honest, think this was for the best seeing the rest of the place. The food was okay, but took a very long time and all in disposable cups and plates which is very wasteful- probably because they don't clean anything so this was for the best. After eating we paid and quickly scarpered. Would not recommend to anybody!!!

Have not sat in there but had a hair appointment nextdoor so asked husband to get me a sandwich. I did say go to Greggs but he came back with this sandwich nicely presented in a brown paper bag but i asked for cheese and this had ham and cheese together which did nothing to enhance either the cheese or the ham, Husband said he asked for cheese and man said cheese and ham as if that is the only way they do a cheese sandwich is with ham or go without. What about people who do not like ham?obviously they can charge more with more in the sandwich but what has happened to customer service? anyway quite thin bread ham not very tasty cheap packet ham and cheese again not much taste to it one cup of coffee came to £8. something expensive really. will not rush back better value at Greggs or Sainsburys for a sandwich.

Said they cater to vegans, and have a whole section on their menu boards with quite a few options, but they only had 2 of them actually in stock. Long story short, we ended up paying £5.80 for peanut butter sandwiches on cheap white bread! The owners didn't wear masks, even when wondering around the cafe (which they did frequently) and the table wasn't even cleaned until after we got our sandwiches, and on top of all of that, it's cash only! Popped in here for a take away coffee. The extremely unfriendly woman serving gave me a coffee cup with a huge dent in it that I didn’t notice until I took a sip and the scolding hot coffee went all over me. Instead of just apologizing and replacing the cup, the lady then blamed me, telling me I must have made the dent, and ‘you shouldn’t be so clumsy then should you’. Absolutely disgusting. I noticed a board on the street saying vegan and vegetarian foods so promising. I crossed over road and saw also a poster in the window vegans and vegetarians catered for so definitely promising. So I went in. Leant against the counter a board with good selection of vegan sandwiches and also food on wall board. So I stood reading to decide. An elderly 'gentleman' was speaking to a lady in the corner, he walked over I said I was just deciding, he huffed and walked around the counter. I asked if I could have one of the tofu sandwiches to be asked WHAT! then he started to walk around the counter and stood next to me, The woman he was speaking to raised her eyebrows. I was quite taken aback so asked again Ohh, he said she doesn't have much of that stuff! waving his hand around. So I just said oh not to worry I'll leave it, he stood there arrogantly and started to mutter something with his hand on his hip looking at me as if I had done something, again I said no, don't bother thank you. Dreadful, rude service.

In Frinton as Monday is our day off and the weather Terrible . We walked down one side of the High Street with our small Highly trained dog and at each establishment - most were either empty or virtually empty - I asked if we could come in with the dog. We were told we could eat outside in the Bitter Wind & Rain. Then we crossed over near the beach & started to walk back. No 14 was warm and welcoming . They do Vegan Food , They do Vegitarian Food , they cater for allergies and - they were almost full !! NOW - Restaurants / cafe's are BY LAW required to allow guide dogs in - so it is purely their choice. The FOOD was great , hot , tasty & value for money. We will undoubtedly go back whenever we are in Frinton & will tell other dog owners from the Dog Club we go to. The others no-doubt will stay true to their views - Empty .

But apart from that it was a really odd place, the elder staff weren’t pleasant, chairs and sofas stuffed into the small space, our toastie wasn’t toasted enough and lastly the owners didn’t seem to want to be there.

Visited for lunch as the board outside plus the look of the cafe/bar lured us in. Before we even had a chance to sit down the man behind the bar (only staff member) asked for our order. There are no menus so stood looking at the blackboard for a while to choose our lunch. We always try to engage with people serving us, but was a wasted exercise as there was no reaction other than an unusual sneer and “ Not my cup of tea” on ordering a beetroot, cranberry & grape ciabatta - this was from their own selection! My sandwich arrived first - how easy would it have been to place it in front of me rather than shoving across the table?! He curtly advised the other sandwich would be 2 minutes. Both were served with a basic garnish of crisps and were just about acceptable I.e. edible!! Looking around there are cobwebs everywhere and the place just felt grubby. The surly service we experienced may not be standard as I cannot imagine the place would have survived if this is how they treat all their customers. We even politely took our plates up to the bar on leaving and still nothing - perhaps I should have offered to wash them up for him too!! Shame as place could be buzzing if someone invested in a feather duster and trained their staff to be friendly.

Worst service ever received - no wonder hardly anyone there! Only just walked in and was greeted by a surly “What can I get you?” While ordering from the blackboard (no menus) my husband chose a beetroot, grape & cranberry ciabatta to which the reply was a sneer and “Erm not my cup of tea” - while an unusual combo, it was on their menu so a strange reaction. Drinks arrived quickly although no ice in the soft drink. My toasted sandwich arrived first - well I say arrived, it was slid across the table to me with a grunt that the other sandwich would be 2 minutes. Basic garnish of crisps - sandwiches themselves were acceptable hence the one star. All in all not a particularly pleasant experience. Give the place a good clean (cobwebs everywhere!) and be courteous & friendly to your customers and you could be packed out! Nice quirky feel with the mismatched furniture and the front of the bar/cafe looks inviting. Just like the spiders lurking in the cobwebs, we were enticed in under false pretences!!

The furniture, floors and overall cleanliness of the cafe was also very very poor, now the food....The sandwiches come out and they were wrong. When I finally got the one I wanted it was foul. I ordered the brie, chorizo and tomato and it was bland and soulless. My wife ordered a brie and cranberry toastie and she hated it, in fact afterwards we had to go elsewhere and drink something to get the taste out of our mouths. Finally the prices. Called in to this little cafe for afternoon tea, interior has a mixed décor of quirky paintings and seating not the best for comfort.

I visit this place for coffee as they are happy for you to take your dog inside as long as they are well behaved and not sandy/wet. Most places you have to sit outside which is fine in the summer but not much fun in the colder weather. I meet friends and my puppy sits by my feet. No problem.

A waiter that told us to go the bar to pay. They do not take cards only cash.A bottle of house wine and two baked potatoes with a little tuna and horrible coleslaw came to over 30 pounds. Also the butter when it arrived was margarine. We thought it was so amateurish and would never ever return. The menu was very limited and the interior is tatty and pretty naff.

With outside seating this place was lovely . Lovely decor and nice selection of snacks ie jacket potatoes, sandwiches , which were very tasty. Dog friendly which is nice these days. Staff happy and helpful on a hot day .

We have stopped off here several times for lunch. The sandwiches are always good but although soup is on the menu, they haven't had any the last few times we've visited. We like the comfy sofas and it's always very relaxed.

It is hard to find anything good to say about this establishment! The ambience is bordering purple and certainly on the day we visited the windows were clean! Strong smell of nicotine even inside!

We heard they did a good Sunday roast, so decided to give them a try. Glad we did. The roast was fantastic. Proper home cooked food and not the precooked and reheated stuff a lot of the big chains serve up. We opted for the roast beef and the extra of cauliflower cheese with leaks and bacon and I highly recommend you try that as it was superb. Big thick slices of tender beef and nice roasties and an impressive range of veggies which consisted of parsnips, carrots, broccoli, swede and peas! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Best roast dinner i've had in apub for a very long time. We look forward to going back!

Very friendly staff. Good food. Not so keen on the music a bit young for us. The desert was fabulous Toffee and Honeycomb cheese cake. The Shiraz wine was also very good. Good service from DaisyT

The coffee was nice. The prices were reasonable. The cakes looked nice and homemade but the buttercream was made with margerine and that flavour was foul. We all scraped the icing off our cake and just ate the sponge because we hadn't had lunch.
