Four Topped Oak in Halton

Just had a couple of new items on their menu for lunch which were thoroughly enjoyed. Emma, Nathan & Tyler's service was excellent today specially under extremely busy circumstances (funeral wake). My husband and are frequent visitors to the "Oak" and are always satisfied with thefriendly staff and atmosphere.

My wife and I visit the Oak frequently, making use of the discounts offered by Ember Inns. The food is great and the service excellent. Special mention to Emma and Nathan who are always welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Had a lovely Sunday roast, highly recommend the beef rib. Service second to none. Our waitress Jess was so lovely and very attentive.

Another excellent night spent at the four tops widnes. Relaxed warm atmosphere good food and service booked again for next week

Food was hot, tasty and great value For money. Staff were friendly the woman behind the bar on Sunday was really funny and was a great help with the app. Will return with family

Just had a lovely meal at The Four Topped Oak. We had beer battered mushrooms for starters, scampi and mac & cheese for mains and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Friendly, efficient service. 3 courses for £14.99 (after 5pm) )is fantastic value! We live locally and look forward to returning.

The food and atmosphere were just perfect and the staff,JessR, Nathan and Jamie were fantastic. Many thanks for making our day so perfect. X

Just been for a mixed grill after complaining about the piece of grizzle which was supposed to be the steak a waiter came to resolve my complaint, I said to him the rest of the food was OK, but the steak i couldn't even cut through ,he kept saying I can't give you a refund ,I can offer you a pint or a pudding I said well just replace the steak again he said it would take to long to cook another steak ? I cook steak all the time at home and know it doesn't take that long, then kept saying I can't give you a refund ( as I kept telling him I don't want a refund !) Just replace the so called steak that was a disgusting piece of grizzle,he was adamant he could only give me a pudding or a pint!,I have been here on numerous occasions to eat but I'm afraid I won't be visiting again,, can't understand why they sent a waiter to resolve the problem instead of the chef ?, or why they where adamant that they wouldn't change the so called steak,, the only consolation is the dog enjoyed the steak / grizzle !,

great new menu. The new sauce you use for the wings is much better. Great service too. I'll be going through the full menu.

Late Thursday afternoon lunch for 5 of us. Atmosphere was just right, quiet enough to talk but not enough to be eavesdropped! We had pre-booked and table was reserved as expected. Ordered for via the Ember app and it was a fuss-free experience being easy to use. Service was spot with a decent delay between starters & mains. Cost a touch over £80 for 5 starters & mains, good value imho. Staff were attentive without being too fussy. All-in-all very satisfied and we will be back.

Waited for food for an hour and went to bar and they said the kitchen didn’t have our order so other than a sorry that was it from them. This is our local and it’s getting worse every time we come so don’t think we will bother for food again just drinks. Shame really.

I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with our meals the roast potato’s were frozen out of a packet and almost inedible,veg was a few diced bits, now this was supposed to be a roast dinner, I had the Gammon which was very salty so I had to leave it or I would have been drinking water all night! My son and Daughter in law felt let down as this was my Mothers Day meal, I worked in the catering industry so I know bad meals when I see them, I would not recommend any one to go there for a special meal.

Had a lovely family meal. Staff were great and the meals were lovely 😃. No complaints at all. Chipotle chicken was lovely and daughter had posh fish and chips and thought she might not like it but loved it xx would definitely eat here again xx

Staff were warm and friendly and very accommodating. The ambience and decor lends itself to a relaxed and comfortable dining experience. The food was plentiful and tasty with tastes and portion sizes to satisfy the heartiest of appetites!

Huge but still cosy pub which was surprisingly busy for a Monday lunch. May be due a refit as could do with a lick of paint here and there but that didn't spoil the experience. Service was polite and food was fine, had decent starters and main meal each off the fixed price lunch which was great value - three courses for the same price as a main in other pubs. Nice relaxed experience.

Emma was very efficient and professional in knowing who was next in order at the bar. Have had many good nights here both Eating and drinking. On this occasion very busy as Ember Inns had a promotion on, but we were only here as usual for a drink. Well done team.

Me and my boyfriend went for New Years to have some dinner. The food was amazing. We both had the southern fried chicken burger and my boyfriend is a picky eater so needed it plain. Nothing is ever too much trouble whenever we go. Special mention to the entire team, both kitchen and front of house. I've never had a bad experience. Emma is an absolute legend, always switched on. Jess R is always on it with her legendary quizzes. Jess A behind the bar keeps the banter flowing and the cocktails. JamieL and Reuben swear they're on skates the service was that quick. Visited several times this year as it's close bye. Unfortunately, this was the worst pub meal I have ever eaten. Waited an age for service..but both meals cold when arrived, sent back and microwaved which left them burnt and basically inedible. Beer was pretty dreadful...

Lovely afternoon with family to celebrate a 70th birthday. All going well, food and drink great although waited a while for the food and pub was not busy. We had provided a home made cake which took a long time to decorate and keep/transport earlier in the day in very hot weather. We asked for the cake to be brought out at the end. We waited a long time and the birthday guest had to leave due to ill health and missed the cake so we were disappointed however when the cake eventually arrived it looked completely different, we initially thought they had brought the wrong cake, when asked if anything had happened the waitress then admitted she had an accident and had dropped the cake but tried to fix it. We were very upset and the waitress disappeared and was no longer available to speak with. We were unsure if cake had been dropped on the floor or counter so all very dubious about eating it. We had already paid the bill and were offered no monetary recompense, just an apology after being found out. Accidents happen and that's ok but you need to own your mistakes particularly were food is concerned. We would have been much more understanding but left waiting. Disappointing end to what started as a lovely afternoon.
