Four Sons Inn in Kirklees

We had a scattering of my dad Harry Roebuck at round hill lump by Rastrick and Brighouse cricket club. We booked lunch for 26 but i hadn’t banked on people bringing children! Any way nothing was too much trouble they just set up another table. Other customer were obliging which tells you a lot about their customer base. The food was lovely! Be warned there was a lot of it!!

Very nice funeral meal and helpful staff sorted out space for 4 wheelchairs.

Had lunch here on Easter Sunday. Beautiful food, lovely service. Would have been a nice touch if there was a small selection for children?, I.e burger and chips or pizza and chips? There were lots of children, so a choice for little ones would have made it perfect.

Best beer in the village. In one of the iconic inns of the M62.

Really good Sunday dinner large potions of well cooked tasty food.

Great place for Sunday lunch. Friendly staff. Music set as background at the right level so as to hear it but not interfere with talking.

I've never experienced male toilets like this before, well not in a pub! absolutely immaculate and the cent wow you could eat in there.

Food could have been a bit warmer.Apart from that we enjoyed our visit.We'll come again.

Our table of five opted for the festive menu although there was an overlapping al la cate on offer too. Although the pub was busy the service was first class. There were several draft beers on offer and the vocation bread and butter was excellent. Starter of pate-stuffed,deep-fried mushrooms in peppery sauce was light and very tasty. Followed by chicken with bacon and seasonal veg. Both courses were very good indeed, especially considering how hard it must be to cater for this number of lunchtime diners in the week before Christmas. Mince pie and a not very good coffee to finish, all for £25 plus drinks and tip. Will be back soon.

Plenty of parking, lovely food. Had to wait 10mins for our table even though we booked, but it's Christmas and it was busy so what can you expect. We contacted them prior to the visit about vegan options, to which they got in touch and talked us through the options available. This was very helpful.

We have just had a, fantastic Sunday lunch at the the Four Sons. We hadn't been before but it was recommended to us by a friend. We were a bit last minute in ringing to book but the landlady was happy to accommodate our party of 7. On arrival, We received a warm welcome and the good service continued. The food was delicious! Home made yorkshire puds, a good serving of meat & plenty of fresh veg & side dishes including Cauliflower cheese - yum! We finished off with a desert from the good selection in offer - also delicious. I cannot fault the Four Sons on either their food, their selection of ales or its value for money. If your looking for a great place to eat-look no further!

Just been in for the Christmas menu. 2 turkeys and 1 salmon and haddock. Wow it was great. Been here before always a fantastic meal.

Held a wake meeting here and it was a lovely quaint place with plenty of room to meet up with all the guests

Enjoyed a really nice Sunday lunch. The Service was just perfect. The four sons is a very warm and welcoming place I have to say. The staff were really lovely and could not have been more helpful. Both my husband and myself could not fault our meals. Would love to visit again when we get chance. Thank you!

I love going to this pub, it has become my all time favourite. Food is to die for, their drinks selection is brilliant. Lileys Cider is the best… Staff are superb. Service is excellent.

My friend & I called on a Sunday, after another place we were meeting at had closed down. We were quickly made welcome, a table found & served. Very friendly service. The food was delicicious & will be meeting here again. Sunday lunch was £18 for 2 courses -mussels in a garlic sauce for starters - excellent, as apparently was the pate Chicken & bacon for mains, had plenty of vegetables, the sauce was slightly too salty for my liking, but friend enjoyed. Desserts seemed to be a good choice & I'm not a dessert person.

Tomahawk steak , 24 hours notice for it, its well worth the wait cooked to perfection with salad and chips, I've eaten in steakhouse no where near as good as this , just superb

Weekday evening meal for 2 adults and a hungry teenager. We hadn't booked and we were a bit early but nevertheless seated with drinks and menus with friendly and enthusiastic service. 2 x Sausage and mash mains with lots of fresh veg looked great and I'm told was very tasty. Cheeseburger and chips . Nicely cooked and plenty of food. Good side salad and creamy coleslaw . A generous portion of mustard on the side too. All really good food. Dessert was 2 x treacle sponge and custard and chocolate cake with ice cream. Great service very good quality and reasonable price.

Maggie and her family catered for a small funeral tea. I booked it based on reviews which were excellent. Everything was perfect. The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. They provided tinfoil, so we could take all the leftovers home. One of our group was vegan and she said her food was excellent. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were respectful and friendly. The pub itself is friendly, spotless and welcoming. One member of our party said they were the cleanest toilets she’d ever been in! We will definitely return with friends and family. I wish it was our local ! Thank you so much to all the lovely staff.

I reviewed this pub (our local) last August and gave it two stars as I felt the food was constantly overpriced and underwhelming. A couple of months ago we went back and my wife raved about the pie (she is an expert). We've been back 2-3 times now including Sunday and it's been consistently of a much better standard. My wife had a roast and I had a beautifully poached salmon steak. I can't remember a pub which doesn't overcook their salmon so I was impressed. Then the new chef came out of the kitchen, a chef I remember from another local pub. He's obviously the reason the food has improved so much.

Never fails to impress, made to feel very welcome as soon as you walk through the door, good quality real ales for the hubby and top notch wine for me. The food is consistent, all the staff are very friendly and very obliging and according to my nephew the best chocolate cake around

We love this pub… Maggie is the perfect host, great with people (and kids… she is amazing with our young twins) and just ensures everything runs smoothly hiding well the fact her and her team are juggling many things. Then comes the food, they had 2 big parties in and still managed to serve beautiful food… last time we had roast dinners but have had many things from the well structured menu, never failing to make us all smile… If you have not been recently, this is well worth a visit

A large group of us called in with the hope of getting a couple of tables, and we were welcomed with open arms. Two lovely tables were quickly allocated and the food which followed was a delight. The problem was deciding which dish to pick the selection being very tempting. A great visit and a nice atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff. Even the chef came to say 'Hi', and to ask how the food was. Well worth the visit.

We ate here last night, to say they were short staffed the service was spot on! The food was absolutely delicious, We can highly recommend the Onion bhajis, pate, lasagne and the best was the smoked cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in parma ham nicely washed down with the best kept Coors in the area. Top marks for the staff working on the night, Cam, Rhainnon and Carl (chef) we will definitely be back soon

Myself and a friend called in one afternoon after golf and fell in love with the place, such a warm welcome and now it's a regular stop off for a pint of farmer's blond on the way home, the food is 1st class proper home made chips mmmm, well worth a visit honestly 👍

Visited one busy Saturday evening with friends. Made to feel very welcome by the staff, not rushed into taking our table immediately whilst we waited for friends to arrive. The menu is small but the food we ordered was superb and very well timed between courses. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Just met up with some family (half way between each other’s homes). What a lovely pub. The food was lovely and the service was excellent. As a Coeliac it is always difficult to find a place where I can find a good varied menu to eat from. This pub had an excellent offer; starter, main AND dessert! I’ve not eaten a dessert in a pub for over a decade. Thank you!

Walked in without having booked a table. Didn't have to wait as one was available. Service was very good and the menu was small but impressive. Our drinks came quickly. Food took a while but totally worth it. I think it may have been due to 2 big tables in at the same time. The food was very tasty and big portions. Price was very good. We will definitely come back.

I've been a couple of times now as it's local. I'm always hugely underwhelmed. Last time we we went I had the haddock goujons for starters and they were fine. But my wine, which was trumpeted as some kind of Moroccan Spiced Lamb, was just an uninspiring overcooked lamb stew. My wife had pie and mash and said it was rubbish.

Excellent food. Staff absolutely first class We asked for fish amd chips and we got whale and chips, absolutely sublime.

Visited for lunch with Mum who is disabled. Staff went out of their way to make us welcome and make mum comfortable. Good selection of beers including several cask ales and my favourites "White Rat" and "Yorkshire Blonde". Plenty to choose from on the menu and the food was delicious, especially the home made chips that were literally "just like mum used to make!"

Excellent food . The battered fish and chips were very good and the coley fish was good. We felt the price for a bottle of wine was very expensive for a pub .

Visited tonight and was a fairly good experience unfortunately waited 45mins for starters which wasnt the best. The food was beautiful the starters were spot on just the burger was dripping with grease. Overall was a nice experience.
