Great cafe , good quality food , excellent service

Called here for breakfast and the place was very busy, with seating inside and out. Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. I had cheese on toasted sourdough, which was fine. I would have preferred regular bread a sourdough gets quite hard when it's toasted but otherwise it was good.

£20 for lge latte and dirty chai latte, carrot cake and cinnamon bun!! There was nothing on the menu or the board about charging 60p for a large ( frankly this was more a small cup), plus nothing also stated that there is a charge for oat milk!!

This place is expensive £14.30 for 2 large coffees and 1 pastry to take away. I’ve been hear before on a Saturday and it was busy people queuing out the door for a table for breakfast and brunch on this particular Saturday lunch time it was dead.

Delicious flat white and very friendly staff. I think it’s the best coffee you can find in Holmfirth. I have also tried the cakes which are very good. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Nice little cafe with really good coffee and cakes. Seating is a bit limited, so it might not be great for large groups.

After my first bacon butty at about 10 years old I have just had the best one I've ever had 53 years later. The BLT on foccacia, if that's how you spell it 🤪, is good but using dried tomato is a stroke of genius. Very very good indeed. The dirty chai coffee was also well made and a decent tasty brew. As a local to Holmfirth I certainly recommend BLOC.

Lovely place, great coffee and food, stopped on my ride for a cinnamon bun and coffee. Needed a foot pump for my tyre which they also had, very friendly staff

Best tasting coffee we've ever had! Flat white, asked for the little pot of hot milk as one of the coffees was abit low, was charged extra £1 for this! Never been charged for milk here when needed, is this new now? Food always very good and sourdough used is the best.

Not the usual standard today. Small portions, over cooked poached egg, cold plates, slow service. Hopefully next time things will be better

Haven't been to Bloc for a while but found there's definitely been an economy drive on portion sizing. Toast was thin and small and definitely I'd say 2 rather than 3 eggs with the scrambled egg. It's a false economy as I wanted lunch but came away hungry and needing to eat. It feels hit and miss with the amount of toast you get - I could see others on neighbouring tables got luckier whereas if you get the end of a loaf you get a small bit. It would def make me thing twice about coming back. I'd rather pay more and get a decent portion please.

Delicious food with loads of brunch choices, you are spoilt for choice. French Toast was huge and really different, coffee was delicious. Lovely outdoor seating area, friendly staff, would definitely return!

If you’re a coffee snob like me there is only 2 places I have found so far that stack up . Bloc and Holme Coffee Shop. These places are all about coffee and the food they offer accompanies the coffee .

A really disappointing experience 11 months ago due to staff shortages and no service but back to its best and back to its original name. Lovely carrot cake and coffee. Would highly recommend. (Thank you for your response below Chris.) It would have been helpful when we arrived and were given menus that you were understaffed and that there would be a significant wait time.)

Great place to eat with fantastic food and friendly staff.

We stopped here at the weekend for a coffee. Sadly they had ran out of food and cakes, due to popular demand of bank holiday weekend. We ordered a chai latte and a flat white, which came to £6.30 Friendly service, lovely outdoor seating area, ideal for dogs or a nice summers day, plenty of seating inside. Would make an ideal remote working spot. Honestly, it was the best chai latte I’ve had & would love to return for food if we were more local.

Stopped off for a bite to eat as a group of cyclists. Didn't look too busy. As I write I've been here an hour now and still not seen any food and drunk my drink. If you're a cyclist, just ride by to one of the other cafes and safe yourself a bad experience.

An exceptional place, first class service and a well-considered menu, with a sensible amount of choice. We had excellent French toast with fresh berries, superb scrambled eggs and avocado with chilli...all superb.

This cafe is my “go to” when passing through Holmfirth on my bike. Friendly staff, Coffee is great and cakes delicious and just what you need mid ride. There is a nice outdoor area for warmer days and room to leave your bike safely where you can keep half an eye on it. Also a very clean and sizeable unisex toilet.

Positives first, Nice new owner, very helpful about the coffee. Food looked great. Negatives, Girls making the food were eating at the same time. One was licking the spoon that she’d served some Biscoff spread from. Another eating as she’s putting food in the oven. Totally unacceptable, goes against all good health and safety and totally off putting. Although I would of liked to speak to the owner about it, I shouldn’t have too, staff should be trained to know not to do it. Cake was nice but FIVE QUID!!

We visited this cafe for breakfast after a recommendation from someone at the Pickled Pheasant. I'm glad we took his advice. A lovely friendly cafe nestled on the outskirts of Holmfirth, with the option of indoor/outdoor seating. I had the bacon, sausage and fried egg on sourdough toast, and my husband had the trio of cheese on toast (healthier options are available!). The portion size was substantial and great value for money. My husband also loved his coffee which is high praise indeed! I would definitely recommend this cafe for breakfast/brunch and will definitely be visiting again.

Delicious brunch, thank you. The experience was marred by a large and loud party of cyclists who had literally taken over the whole place inside and out. Not sure, but they appeared to have just had drinks. Standing and sitting all over, shouting to each other, men in lycra 'limbering up' prior to getting back on their bikes, not a great experience whilst trying to eat and have a private conversation with my friend. I understand it is difficult to turn away money but really these people should learn to behave correctly in public places, especially in others' businesses.

Bloc was my first café experience in Holmfirth a few years ago and it's still up there amongst my favourites. The coffee is great and the food quality (particularly the sourdough bread) is high, although the menu is on the smaller side. It is popular for a reason. It is, however, a little pricey and the desserts that I've had tend to be too sickly for my liking.

I went in this morning, with my 18 month old son.... And I honestly had THE nicest mocha that I've had in the last year and a half (and I've had a lot!) Thankyou!

Friendly staff, great food, excellent coffee, will be back again

Such a cute place, so cosy yet bright and airy. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the tiffin I had was delicious. Most importantly the coffee (decaf latte) was the perfect strength, temperature (not too hot) and thickness (not too thick or thin), soooo tasty. Didn't order other food but the French toast/beans on toast/eggs & avocado on toast looked insane. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

My wife and I called here today and what a very pleasant dining experience we had the staff and restaurant were absolutely fantastic the food was 5 Stars we sat outside on the decked area we will most definitely be returning thank you to all your wonderful staff ..

Lovely cafe in a ideal spot, right in the centre of Holmfirth. Good selection of food and drinks. Reasonable prices, good service and a garden next door to sit in if the cafe is full. Waiter/waitress service too.

My coffee was amazing, my friend and her daughter shared one of the brownie slices which went down a treat. Huge portion of brownie, gutted I didn't get one myself.

Fantastic breakfast. The menu consists mostly of "Stuff on toast" - I had avocado and halloumi on sourdough, served with a little chilli salsa and it was divine. I really should make the effort to go more often! Excellent coffee too.

Bloc Café is flooded with light and cheerful in the extreme, could be likened to a prozac over exposure, due to the café being made of large floor to ceiling windows, unfortunately the view is of the main road which is always busy, but non the less it's always a pleasure to be able to look out and daydream with your coffee cup. The menu is uncomplicated yet unique everything is done to an ultra modern perspective and is quite delightful and very satisfying. Ladies, if you are in need of a sugar rush (and you know what I'm talking about) Bloc is the best place for that sort of emergency, the cakes are quirky, tasty, and beautifully presented Bloc cakes are uber. Therefore I highly recommend Bloc.

A wonderful little cafe in the centre of Holmfirth that is very contemporary and would not look out of place in York or Brighton !! (Would get five stars if opening hours we're a little longer)

Last two visits refused to sell me a coffee even though 30 mins before closing. E.g. 2.30 pm on Sunday 12th Sep. Full of staff who just said we are closing early. To be fair coffee is really nice hence driving 30 mins to get here. Won’t be doing it again. Feels like the pandemic is now just an excuse for poor customer service and customers just need to grin and bear it.

Visited today and really enjoyed avocado & haloumi on sourdough with a really yummy salsa. Coffee good and staff really friendly... only suggestion, husband would have liked mushrooms on toast but he enjoyed his french toast. Thanks. Highly recomend a visit.

Had an amazing breakfast with my fiancé I had sausage egg and bacon on a lovely toasted slice of bread and my partner had beautiful presented Avocado egg on toasted bread. Friendly service great coffee fantastic place to have a great breakfast before your walks in the Peak District.

On a recent visit to Holmfirth on a showery day we called into Bloc. It was busy on a Sunday morning serving mainly breakfasts which looked great. We only had coffees but it was nice and I would recommend it. Service friendly and helpful.

We had the simple fare of beans on toast. One had cheese grilled over the top. Very nice, well presented, & friendly service to clean tables. Well patronised. Good choice of foods on offer for all tastes. Thank you once again.

When we mentioned to friends we were visiting Holmfirth they suggested we went to get treats from here, and warned us that they sell out quickly.We ended up getting there quite late and there was literally only 2 items left (which we obviously bought!)Got a deep filled cookie cup and a KitKat blondie.(Apologies for the rubbish photo, the chocolate had melted but the time we got them home)Both were very very nice. And although I initially thought they were quite expensive, they were a large size and took a while to eat.Will definitely be back next time we're in Holmfirth, but hopefully we'll get there earlier so have a bigger choice (and can buy more than two!)

Ideal cyclist friendly spot with extremely helpful and friendly staff even on a swelteringly hot and busy day. Bike parking could be an issue but even as a large group of 9 we made it work. Food was excellent and arrived quickly. Faultless

The best local cafe for a decent coffee. Good size latte and not watered down and weak like some of the larger coffee chains.

The regular cappuccino was average and not the strongest, to call it regular I would say is misleading, it is much nearer to small. I have added a photo twice, and twice somebody has removed it.

Poncy, pretentious and expensive.. Watch out, the cakes are generous portions and tasty but they are £4 each ... They are closed Mon and Tues and then open only 9-2 midweek right now (Oct 2020)..Talk about a bunch of part timers ! They make very easy to make food and charge you horrendous amounts to sit in their tiny , virtually impossible to social distance safely, tin box with windows . Novelty items include a £10 footpump for cycling people..and outside areas If your a tourist in the spring/ summer it's probably ok to visit but for locals its far too expensive for what it is ..

Enjoyed my first visit here recently. Thankfully it was a dry day so we were sat outside.I ordered bacon, egg and avocado on toast and asked about choices of sauce - to which I was recommended the sweet chilli salsa. That salsa made the dish. Yum!My little one enjoyed his babyccino and marshmallows too. Coffee was spot on and lived up to its reputation.Note for parents/guardians of babies and small children: they have a limited amount of high chairs and there’s not much room for big prams. They are very accommodating though and will try seat you somewhere suitable but due to social distancing and the size of the place it’s a little bit snug.Thanks to the team who looked after us during our visit.

Called in with my wife for Sunday breakfast. Small but great, healthy menu (apart from the dreamy desserts). Extremely tasty food, brilliant service and welcoming atmosphere.

We have been here every time we visit Holmfirth and have loved it every time , however I feel a little disappointed after visiting yesterday I put a review on in February with a photo of my breakfast and then had this yesterday in comparison there’s a big difference) there was only a small amount of yogurt with a few blueberries and also frozen berries at £6:95 I feel that this overpriced for what it is it was nice but not worth the price , I had a granola bowl elsewhere this morning for £2 less a bigger portion and with fresh berries , staff are always really love and friendly but if the breakfast is not great then you will look elsewhere
