Service can only described as 'slower than a crippled Snail. Ordered 2 coffees and a Cake, 10 minutes later one coffee and the cake appeared.... So had to go back to the slow service again in a queue for the waitresses mistake! The Coffee was as weak as water..... The place was not even busy either, I hate to think what it would have been like on a weekend day

I have been within the food service industry for 20 years plus. I have never seen such an unhygienic and dirty place. No clean tables, chairs slung around them, no self respect. I will never go back their,

Another one of these cafes that will not take your food order until you give them a table number. So you spot a table. Order your food give the number, then go to the table to find someone else has just sat on it. Much easier to give a number when you order the food and then call out for number ** when it is ready.

Came again for Sunday lunch, service and food just as good as before. Staff were happy to accommodate my request to swap potatoes for extra veg. Would happily return.

Have to say the café was excellent value for money and the staff very very helpful. Its nice and cosy perhaps a little to warm made draughty by fans trying to keep it cool. It was not a hot day either.

After taking a walk around the Garden Centre and especially the Christmas section we went into the café and looked at the Christmas dinner menu. Such a good selection we couldn't resist. We both decided to have the turkey followed by'' christmas pud ''.Super value, if your down this way it's well worth a visit.

As a family we attended on Wednesday for 'tea with Santa'. The first time I've been since it was refurbished. The atmosphere was excellent and the setting superb with the festive decorations and the darkness making it all very serene. The food for all four of us was nothing shy of excellent with friendly staff to boot. The 'event' was very well organised and the value for money for the four of us superb. I will be returning and I'm certain to be a regular if the experience is the same. Highly recommended.

On many occasions I visit the garden centre and always feel welcomed and look forward to a relaxing breakfast or lunch, either alone, with family or friends, it's always a treat to feel comfortable, warm and homely. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble. The quality of the food is tasty, of value and home cooked using local ingredients.. Nothing pre packed and bought in...the refurbishment is fabulous and such a pleasure both winter and summer. If you are looking for time away from the hustle and bustle enjoying a delicious cake and superb coffee or meal this is the place to be in the tranquility of a perfect garden centre with old fashioned values..

Having been underwhelmed at the "winter wonderland" and meeting a socially awkward Santa with the kids we decided to go to the very new looking coffee shop. Unfortunately the coffee shop was in the same ilk as the Christmas "spectacular". The shop is new looking but misses out in any character or warmth. The home printed and laminated menus were more suited to a greasy spoon. We ordered a two sausage sandwiches a latte and a hot chocolate It was all ok but only ok nothing special. The sausages seemed to have been cooked 4 days ago and microwaved as the ends of them were so hard they were crunchy. The bread had a similar provenance being dry and flakey. The latte was errr... Ok but the hot chocolate disappointed. Would write more but... See the title to see why. :(

The cafe at silica garden centre has been refurbished and is a great improvement on the old building. Sadly the quality of food and service do not match. The food is very mediocre and the service dreadful - we waited 35 minutes for a scone and a coffee!

I often eat here and it's even better since the new refurbishment! The food is always very nice, home cooked and great value! They also serve Home Reared Pork and Dexter Beef which is to die for! Amazing cooked breakfast too only £4.99!

If you have any self respect, you would not eat here. It’s a dive. Don’t get me started on how dirty the staff look either. One with a pair of blue jeans on like she’d just rolled in from school. This place used to be good when Christopher Mayne was the manager but has since evidently gone downhill. The new manager looks totally uninterested and like he is wasting his time by being there. When he served us, it felt like he was doing us a favour by pouring a pint. My husband also agreed on his rude attitude. We have also heard bad things about a particular chef who works in the kitchen??? Need I say anymore about the kind of people they are employing here.

Visited for breakfast and had the 'Large Breakfast', which was okay. The venue is large, popular, but quite dark. The service was decent enough, but some of the tables and menus could do with a wipe down due to being rather sticky. The beans also lacked any taste.

Had an absolutely outstanding carvery here. The chef carving the meat was so friendly and generous with the portions. The carvery is fantastic value for money and it was unlimited so had to go up for seconds! Would definitely recommend.
