I came here with my two daughters on the way to the Manchester museum. My daughters loved the hot chocolates and cookies, which were well presented. The coffee was great and the pain au raisin was delicious.

After slow service a few months ago, there was no queue and I decided to give this place another try… The server made me wait a while whilst they cleaned some machines (which is fine, I understand these things need to be done…), I gave my order and had to repeat it again (fine, I guess, no biggie).. hot chocolate to take away please…No thanks given when presented with the card machine, I just got a one word response of “tip” … I was a bit like a deer in headlights, so I added £1 tip on an already £4 hot chocolate…to take away… I then waited… and waited… and waited… one person asked them to remake their coffee as it wasn’t apparently nice… but eventually after waiting ages… I had to chase for mine after 10/15 mins or so and was told that mine would be next… another 5 mins and I finally got it… Lukewarm at best. Tasted of watery milk… At the end (yes, I forced it down as I paid for it) there was a couple of powdery chocolate clumps.. Too far away to turn around and ask for a replacement (already running late too). Never again…

We waited 1hr20 minutes for food and when it arrived it was cold. I could only eat about 1/3 of it. We didn’t complain because we were rushing out to the Chinese New Year parade which we almost missed due to how long it took to get breakfast. A real shame as it put a dampener on our over all stay at Whitworth Locke which was excellent.

A lovely space which is ideal for business/work meetings or a long comfortable catch up with friends. Bathrooms are clean and modern. Coffee and food are not bad. However service is very slow and disjointed, with poor staff communication, and there is a real lack of gluten free options.

Cracking little coffee house tbf toilets exceptionally clean atmosphere relaxed and pleasant. Staff approachable and friendly only thing didn't notice a disabled access maybe because I only used corner entrance however great place to pass tome while waiting for passengers to come back from theatre

Repeatedly ignored while waiting, coffee handed to me whilst chatting to co-workers without even looking, half cut staff on a Sunday morning trying to use the till. On one occassion very rude and confrontational. Awful won't be going again.

Enjoyed my coffee. The shop is great for business meeting especially the raised back chairs in the lobby section. Service is friendly

The food and coffee are delicious, if you get it. I stayed in the attached hotel for 10 nights and had breakfast at Foundation 8 times just because of convenience. 6 out those 8 times a breakfast order was either executed wrong or dropped entirely. They are busy in the morning, which I can appreciate, and after the first day's hour wait for an egg sandwich, I left myself more time for the following days. What I deduced is that the order from the register doesn't make it to the kitchen or that process is inconsistent. You just have to follow up with the staff, which is annoying for everyone.

Seriously Best Brunch Ever. I cheekily ordered the kids' beans on toast and between the mixed-in cheese and sourdough toast it was fit for a king. My wife enjoyed the hot cross bun and kiddo loved the toast with Nutella. Simple and delish and the coffee was great too.

Called in for breakfast with friends. Ordered three breakfasts which all came with poached eggs. All the eggs were stone cold, and the accompanying food was luke warm. We let the staff know immediately and they said they’d sort it out. 5 minutes later we were presented with more poached eggs in a dish, these were just above cold, and by which time the rest of the breakfast was cold. We left a good 75% of the breakfast on the plates (no one asked if we were ok) and as we left made a complaint to the team behind the counter. The response was ‘thanks for letting us know’. Terrible food and service - definitely not recommended and not cheap for the little we had.

I popped in on my way to Piccadilly Station as I’ve been to the Northern Quarter branch a few times over the years. The staff were so inattentive and the person on the till couldn’t wait until I tapped my debit card so he could start chatting to colleagues again. They also forgot the pastry I ordered and I didn’t get it until I reminded them 10 minutes later and asked to have it to take away. There are much better options in Manchester these days thankfully, and with the fact that the NQ branch is a back-up option at best…leave this one out of your plans.

They didn't seem understaffed (I could see 5 minimum) but the service was painfully slow. Waited in the queue for at least 15 minutes just to order. Got told the food would have to come out at different times due to what we ordered, which we said was fine, but both orders came at the same time. Mine was wrong, sent back and came with rubbery poached eggs (which were incredibly pale so clearly not free range, which is weird considering most of the walls are covered in paragraphs about how they're trying to save the planet etc) and stale toast. Coffee however was lovely, so would be happy to get a takeaway in future but if you're going for Sunday brunch I'd recommend allowing at least an hour and a half. It's a dog friendly cafe, lovely decor and lots of options which is great, but unfortunately the service really let it down. Such a shame as a guest in the hotel, because the rest of the hotel is amazing.

We went for breakfast and ordered a two drinks and paid at the till and then went to sit into our table. The member of the staff told us that One of the drinks was not available and we were advised to choose a new one. When we chose a new one we were charged incorrectly the difference between the drinks and we ended up paying more than we should have paid. Nice place but no communication between the prices for the staff as everyone seems to be Charging different prices for the same product. Too bad because the environment inside is very nice.

We usually come to one of the foundation cafes and this time we came here for some brunch and were disappointed and have been at the others the last few times. I had the poached eggs on sourdough the bread was rock solid not great. My partner ordered avocado and bacon on toast and the bacon didn’t arrive we won’t be coming again

A small door leading to a meandering cafe, with a relaxed mood. Great snack and meal options alongside some very food coffee! Staff were lovely and I would definitely go back.

Nice to come somewhere that isn't a chain. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really nice sandwiches and eggs royale. The coffee was excellent.

Went to this coffee house for an after work drinks. We wanted some red wine (from their menu) but they didn’t have any bottles and the waitress said that’s because they’re primarily a coffee shop! We then ordered tea and a chocolate brownie which was...

This is a nice coffee shop attached to Whitworth Locke Apartments. Great breakfasts and coffee are available but the service is so unbelievably slow and the orders are often wrong when they eventually make their way to your table. It’s a good space for meeting...

Spectacularly awful. We waited two hours for breakfast, no communication, scarcely an apology. And the coffee wasn’t all that
