Foulis in Northumberland

Had a burger and chips here , 1st and definitely last , chips luke warm , burger dry and nasty . Avoid this place , town is a short walk , and I was warned by another lorry driver not to bother. Wish I'd listened!

Food disgusting and I know used to make pizzas dough rank wants shut down also live down road and still get the wrong address. Half don't speak English never again feel sick as

Came up to Berwick for a weekend with family. Delivery took two hours and then they delivered an congealed cold solid pizza. Tried ask for them to re-deliver fold considering it was ruined by the time it arrived. They hung up and blocked my wife's number. Would not recommend.

Visited here while on holiday, but wouldn't recommend. Fish was greasy thick batter, chips were crispy and greasy to be honest I left most of it, very disappointed. Service wasn't up to much either, place just didn't look clean ,wont return 😕

Just had Two quarter pounder cheese burgers just a word of warning if you like burgers cooked they way they should be cooked ie to maximize their flavor on a grill they are dumped in the chip fryer Nah not for me still tasting the chip fat that is coated the inside of my mouth !!

We had 2 fish suppers to takeout from here just 2 days ago & we really enjoyed them. The fish was cod which we actually prefer. They were cooked to order & we have no complaints. We have had fish suppers from here before & the portions & size of the fish were large. In fact next time we'll probably share a portion of chips between us. Surprised at the previous bad reviews so hope what we experienced continues.

Asked for a sausage supper got plain sausage so had to drive 15 mins back to change it and I said can it be changed and they did but gave me my original cold chips back didn't seem to bothered about customer service also pizza was falling apart with grease I won't be back. Cost us 30 quid and the quality is terrible cheap and nasty

This place could do with a clean and an update. You ask for haddock but get cod you can’t just give a customer anything. Would not recommend this place.

Ordered a takeaway for me and my family. Was here in amazing time and driver was okay not the nicest person though. Food was okay but wouldn’t reccomend or get again except the pizza, I would reccomend that. Nothing else though.

Orderd a chicken Breast it was a big as a pidgeon breast shocking at £6 very dry I don't tell lies this is an honest review

Great fish, chips and scratchings (I'm a midlander). Fresh, piping hot and a bloody big portion. Just what you want at the seaside before an evening at Berwick Speedway.

Had 2 portions fish and chips , batter was rank on fish and thin, chips were just as rank. Used be nice handy place to stop on visits to Spittal, will go into town in future now as it's awful 😖

Had fish and chips and haggis and chips- and most went in the bin. Fish was so thin and the haggis was just a lump of tasteless clagg. The batter on the haggis was inedible as it was so dry and tough almost like a dough. Chips were reheated and again very poor. Has this place changed ownership recently? I won’t be back - ever.

It's a very good chip shop, Just for information, the chip portions are with a supper, are big.

Got fish and chips on Saturday 9th March. The fish was quite good but the chips had been heated up. Not good enough for £9.90 😡😡😡

Treated friends today at 1pm for fish and chips! The fish was terrible, not cooked properly batter white inside and soggy!. If the fat is not hot that's the problem!! The chips were just warm too. We were all disappointed! Perhaps the owner needs to show them how to cook.. £9.90 × 4 for lunch is not a cheap treat!!

First time purchase from Foulis. Just purchased take out haggis n chips. Chips were OK but you could have soled your shoes on the haggis batter, haggis also dry. Went in the bin.

Disappointing Experience at Foulis I've always held high expectations for their food quality and taste. However, my recent visit left much to be desired. The King Rib was a letdown. It lacked flavour and was odd tasting, making it inedible. The batter encasing it was disappointingly hard, detracting from the overall experience. Moving on to the haggis, another staple on their menu, it was unfortunately not up to par. The texture was stodgy, indicating that it might have been sitting out since lunchtime services. This lack of freshness significantly impacted the enjoyment of the dish. I was one of the first in for the evening opening at 4 pm The chips were great as always 😋 It's truly disheartening to see a place I've always regarded highly fall short in delivering the outstanding quality I've come to expect. I hope Foulis takes these criticisms constructively and strives to regain its former excellence in the future.

Had a problem with my food, so phoned them back, they kindly offered a replacement but then phoned back saying they didn't have any replacements then offered a refund of the food that had the problem, Great customer service, was easy to solve my problem

Staff made the order wrong (which is an honest mistake) but then when we reordered to get the correct meal, upon collection they attempted to blame us by saying “the fella who ordered asked for it this way” when a woman ordered anyway. I pointed this out and he hurled abuse at me and the woman at the counter said things under her breath. A mistake is okay but being so defensive to a mistake that you’re horribly rude is ridiculous. The place is run by chavs but didn’t expect their attitude to carry over to customer service. Won’t be back unfortunately after using the place for a whilst.

Had pizza from here 10 years or so ago and STILL get spam texts from them despite never agreeing to be on any database. I apparently have to pay to send a text to stop them. I refuse. I just leave a bad review each text I get.

Used the takeaway side of the business. Service was good as was the food. My only criticism is that the chilli sauce tasted very strongly of aniseed, other than that good.

Cod and chips was delicious. As for the scampi.... they've never been near the sea, grey lumps in hard breadcrumbs. No thanks

Ordered a breaded fish supper, hugely disappointed. The oil soaked through the box in about 3 minutes. The fish was old and not fresh. £10:30 is horrendously expensive for a poor product. Looks like the oil temperature is too low also. Stick to pizza's.

I’ve had the worst Fish Chips ever from here!!! The Fish was NOT FRESHLY BATTERED, it looked a pre spray Batter, very thin, and smooth similar to a frozen on, albeit a big size. It was a uniform size, no misshapen crunchy bits on it ray thin impossible to get the with a Fish dipped in Batter. It smelt Fishy, which its not supposed to. Avoid this in my IMHO, not value for Money at all..

Ordered from here tonight. Absolutely 100% will be back, pizzas where amazing amazing amount of toppings on top the wraps thoroughly enjoyed and the kids meal deal fantastic! Fast delivery also.

Iv been in the food retail years ago as a cook in debenhams when i worked there I realize it can be very stressful but always found time for a smile when I picked up a take away for my family last night spent Neary £40 of my hard earned cash u people could at least put a smile on your faces If u can't be bothered doing that I will take my custom else were the food was ok not the best I'm not knocking your food I just want too buy from u knowing I can honestly enjoy my experience there thank u stay happy plz life is too short too be miserable

We come here regularly when away on holiday, not sure why I've not reviewed before now. Chippy is great mac and cheese is great and prices are awesome 👌 My pizza was a tad over cooked this trip but I still ate it 😉

We recently stayed at Lazyday Cottages and decided to get a take away one night and we chose this chip shop . Where to start we ordered 2 fish suppers a white pudding supper and a pizza , I honestly have never seen such big fish and the portions were humongous we could have just ordered 2 suppers and it would have fed us all. The delivery was quick the driver really polite, friendly . So pleased we chose this place to try the only down side was no brown sauce or vinegar, but overall food all hot delicious and enjoyed by us all even the dog had bit fish as there was so much .

Just had fish & chips from here, ordered in the shop, no queue, fish cooked fresh while we waited but all very quick and nicely cooked.

First class food served by very pleasant people. And they deliver too, but I prefer to get served.

Do not buy a pizza from here they have soggy bottoms even the seagulls turn there nose up at them.

Would not recommend at all. Ordered from foulis to Haggerston castle and food was horrible. The pizza was dripping of grease and chips were dry with the garlic sauce watery. The customer service was dreadful and the manager was very rude on the phone. They took twice the amount of money from the bank account and when we tried to get the managers name, he would refuse to give it. Worst takeaway place I’ve experienced!

The quality of food is time honoured and not to be missed. Always a grand scran.

pizza was burnt around the crust, was only able to eat 6 inches of a 9 inch pizza due to how burnt it was, most likely cooked upside down, to my amazement i ordered pepperoni and got a margarita, i guess they ate it for me, or fell off while cooking

If you want a burnt pizza top with a mouldy base this is the place to go!! Disgusted to say the least!! I could spew as we had eaten some 🤮🤮🤮

I have been to this takeaway about half a dozen times in the past and it’s been really excellent. All the more disappointing for my last visit then when my fish and chips was pretty rubbish. The chips looked as though they had been lying for a while and were not hot. The fish tasted as if it had been freshly cooked but had not been drained before being put in the box so was very oily. I had travelled from Haggerston Castle for this meal because the fish and chip shop on site is poor, but I would have been better buying on site. Time to try yet another chip shop I think.

Ordered a kebab with salad, 2 x pieces of tomato, 2 x pieces of cucumber and onion. Call that a salad. Supposed to be a large kebab, still hungry. Pizza ok but very greasy and skimpy on toppings. Feel OVERCHARGED to what we got. Will defo not be BACK

The lasagne vedi was absolutely beautiful it wasn't the most attractive but flavor was stunning ordered salad and was happy to discover it had coleslaw too will be getting this again 🙌

Got 2 haggis and chips today, chips hot but haggis cold. Had to return to takeaway. Haggis replaced with that reheated in fryer. Batter very leather like.

We ordered haddock suppers and I was so disappointed with the batter. It was heavy, dark and really greasy and I was unable to eat it. We also ordered a naan kebab with garlic sauce and salad and when we got it home there wasn't any sauce or salad at all.

Purchased fish and chips. Chips ok but the batter on the fish was really greasy and the oil looked old.

Stopped there at lunch time had ordered haggis and chips was Luke warm haggis was beaten to a pulp batter was so thick like a leather jacket was so disappointed it all went in the bin over the road

Food not very nice at all. Pizza was sopping with oil, and the curry sauce was bland.

We have had pizzas from here before and weren’t impressed but decided to give it another try . We had chicken tikka kebabs and chips and can only say “disgusting “ will never be back!

We were staying nearby and fancied take out, Foulis always looked busy as we went passed so decided to give it a go. We both had chicken tikka kebabs, they were enormous and really tasty with lovely fresh salad. We were glad we ignored the recent poor reviews as we were both really impressed

The best takeaway shop in Northumberland ease. Out of this world if you can beat it pm me keep up the great work lads and lasses

I have used this takeaway a few times for chips and never had an issue but the wife n kids fancied pizza, the upside down pizza had toppings under the cheese making it hard to know what was under the burnt cheese, the wife had pineapple and ham and managed to find 1 singular piece of pineapple on the whole pizza then a few hours later the 3 of them where living in the loo with very upset stomach so something was off and since all 3 pizzas were different toppings(not topping) then it is cheese, base or sauce that is off. I was ok because i only had chips but it is safe to say i will never return as they have no idea how to make a pizza and clearly a hygiene or food storage issue going on there

Pie and chips that went straight into a bin aka "fed to seagulls" as both were dehydrated and must of sat all day and most places would bin stuff like this not pass it off as acceptable food to customers even a local seagull could'nt stomach the pie and launched it.

Granted i was walking back from the pub, but I had donner and chips, and the wife had sausage and chips as take-away. Food was nice and hot and we both enjoyed it. Seems the negative reviews on here just relate to long delivery times if ordered for delivery. We would certainly go back for take-away after a beer in town.

We've used Foulis for a while now and always been happy with the food and the service until yesterday. Ordered our food at 6pm. I finally got it at 8.30! I rang the restaurant at 8pm to be told our order was the next one going out. I mentioned we'd been waiting 2hrs to be met with total silence... Food arrived 30 minutes later and on telling the driver we'd been waiting 2 1/2hrs I was told they were very busy and plenty other folks would be complaining... A simple apology from either people would have cost nothing but gone a long way. But to add insult to injury, my fish was very dry and the chicken nuggets were cold. I know it'll mean nothing to Foulis but that'll be the last time I use them. Felt like a total inconvenience to them rather then a loyal customer.

Phoned an order lastnight was accepted took MY MONEY out my bank straight away 1 minute later emailed me 2 say order cancelled.REALLY so why have u taken my money then and might not even get it back in time for Xmas. £7 FOR DELIVERY TO. plus never answered my email.

My partner and I took a trip to Berwick, can't go to the seaside and not have fish and chips. We had a fish in batter and one in breadcrumbs. Both freshly cooked absolutely delicious opted for a portion of chips between us. Pleased we only had one as the helping was very generous. Everything freshly made cooked to perfection. We will definitely return and would have no hesitation in recommending this place

Always used foulis and never had much complaint. However, last few times the chips are not cooked, just anaemic. and pizza dough seems undercooked as well and very top heavy it falls apart. One of the more expensive take aways in Berwick as well so don’t think it’s asking much for cooked chips, nobody likes raw ones. No complaints from other half on kebabs tho!

Cod was beautiful. Decent size portions too. Curry needed to be a richer flavour. Prices are a little steep. Loved it overall though

Ordered fish and chips, and they were utterly superb. Freshly cooked in front of you, and an enormous portion. The fish almost melted in your mouth. Honestly one of the best I have ever had. Strongly recommend.

South bank of Berwick on Tweed, grabbed fish and chips from here and took them to a free car park on the sand overlooking the estuary/river. Lovely food. Quick service. Cooked fresh. Very friendly staff.

Good food but portions much too big. We could have shared one meal between two instead of feeding lots of leftover chips to the local seagulls. Also, coming from Scotland, where salt and sauce would be routinely offered in chippies, we were very disappointed to be offered salt and vinegar only, and advised that despite paying nearly £15 for our two meals, we would still have to pay extra for a small sachet of sauce . our chip

Good size portions of fish and chips, but slightly expensive for what you get. The shop was very busy when I visited and because customers were waiting for food to be cooked, covid restrictions weren't being adhered too which meant the shop was over crowded.

Used to be great here but a very disappointing experience this time. Wasn't very busy but wait for food was an hour...not told in advance and no apologies. Chips were nice, king rib was cold and tasteless. Such a shame, maybe a bad night? Won't be back in the near future.

Just had the worse fish n chips ever. Ordered 2x f&c for delivery to caravan club campsite. No mention when ordering that there would be a delay. Rang back 45 mins later to be told they were very busy and would be delivered whenever their driver got back but they couldn’t say when that might be. Got call after an hour from the driver to say he was 1 minute away . I was at collection point within a minute& collected & paid. They cost £17.40 and we’re cold at the first mouthful. I can only assume he had made several deliveries before ours. Very disappointed.

Very good food and very helpful

Absolutely disgusting customer service. The website was incorrect, so after they took my money they contacted me to ask me for more money because of their website error. They blamed me as a customer and said it was my fault. The manager was appalling and swore at me. I still have not had a refund. They have taken my money, asked for more money, spoke down to me, then rejected my order and won’t refund me.

If I could would give 0 stars,never have we been so ill after a couple o bites,the batter still burning this morning,peptac cant take that away,we still ill this morning,expensive rubbish
