Worst chip shop ever to be open, avoid, chips were black and fish very very Greacy never in my life again 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 1 star isn’t even worth it either

Went to the chippy for Food whilst on holiday up here to see my ex wife’s parents (me and Izzy divorced) and ordered cheese, chips and a fish. I was disappointed to find that my chips were GREEN!!!! This is outrageous i couldn’t believe my eyes. I also ordered a water but was given weird yellow liquid that was acidic like lucozode sport. Also saw a man with an orange afro being bummed round the corner don’t know how to feel about this. My chips were cold and the cheese wasn’t event melted but the fish was ballin I can’t lie. Would order the fish again (picture attached of fish, the human doing the bumming and my whip to flex)

Normally have no complaints and food is good today on the other hand was terrible fish was dry and tough chips was a mix of brown green and black also hard was not nice at all

Stopped here to get fish and chips. The fish batter was greasy and heavy and the chips were overcooked. Not enjoyable. But they offer other things like burgers, so maybe I chose the wrong thing...

Used for second time . Not in area often. Had haggis and chips... Wasn't the best haggis but was nice enough for me to have again. So I will use again in future.

Fish was dry,breadcrumbs tasted bitter like they had been fried in oil that needs changed,awful,took over an hour to be delivered.Ordered some more Fish and chips, ended up with pains in the stomach,the fish tasted funny & was dry,batter greasy, wish I hadn't especially paying £22.00 for the meal.

Excellent scampi was cooked beautifully crisp on outside soft on inside would like chips to be slightly browner but we're fine meal was hot when delivered chap was polite

Pizzas didn't taste good and were extremely greasy. On the one hand, we had hair incorporated into a pizza, and on the other hand, it is not okay that you only find out after paying by card that a tip will be debited. Of course, tipping is good and important and I am aware that it is sometimes automatically included. But then that should be clear in advance. We'll never be in this store again.

I went here for supper while sight seeing in the area and it appeared to be very popular with the local community, all the food was freshly cooked and delicious.

Ordered some food online here. When we went to pick it up, one staff member had the fish ready and bagged up but were waiting for our peas. They left these on the side for 15 minutes whilst the rest of the order was completed allowing them to go cold. It was clear that the staff members didn’t communicate with each other and it made for a pretty chaotic environment from what I could tell. That being said, the food was fairly nice, once we had heated it back up a bit it was quite nice. Perhaps better to order on site rather than online as those doing so seemed to get their food all at once.

Price: £ Taste: 10/10 Have never been able to fault the food from Prior Chippy! They are easily the best value chip shop in Berwick and with the tastiest food, they’re usually one of the first choices of takeaway. They have a wide selection to choose from on the menu and are also the only chippy to do battered pineapple rings in town as well, so that’s definitely 5* from me! The pizzas are amazing as well. Their cheese is by far the nicest cheese I’ve had on a pizza! And they’re every generous with their toppings!

Been a customer and supportive of this chippy for years, but that’s now two meals, that have been wasted. Chips dry and obviously re heated. Fish like cardboard. Will not return

Called in while passing through Berwick, biggest spam fritter I've ever had and chips were very nice and loads of them, recommend this chippy and definitely use again.

The Prior Chippy nestles in the middle of Prior Park housing estate, away from the main road through Berwick, but it is well worth taking the time to find it, or order by phone. Staff are always cheerful, food is great, and value is fantastic.

Food tastes OK, but not as good as what we were told

Appalling never have I ever had a bad thing to say about prior chippy just had the worst fish ever asked for breaded haddock what I got was well over done crispy aye that crispy couldn’t even get your teeth through it never mind a fork will be the last time I order here oh and it was over half hour late

Food great, on line order a bit of a farce, food order pick up times up in the air, ordered at 4.15 for a 4,45 collect, ( their collect time) but was told at when I went to collect at 4.40 ish it hadn't been started yet !! over 50 mins from order to collect, to much priority on telephone orders.

On holiday, went here on spec. The nicest Cod I have has anywhere, ever. Kids had fresh cooked vegetarian pizza excellent. Can’t fault it.

Ordered 5.15pm delivered 7.45pm after several phone calls.microwaved in my opinion fish dry and very little fish in one.

A typical estate chippy where I might expect better. Normally I avoid posting before at least two or three experiences but in this case since there is little chance of going back, I will. What I found shocking was that the boxes with the fish were already sagging with the grease by the time we got back, something I have never experienced before. In fact the fish on its own without the batter was very fresh and delicious. As well just some of the batter was crunchy but overall the grease resulted in much discarded soggy mess.

This was my first visit to this chip shop after being told many times how good it was but I'm not too sure if I'll be back. I ordered chicken breast and chips and I was pleased with the price of it and the chips. However, the chicken hadn't been cooked properly and was still cold in the middle but I was fortunate that there were no side-effects to this. I couldn't make up my mind whether to give them 2 or 3 stars but thought I would be generous.

Good if you get a deal, location is ok if you're on foot. Parking very limited and could be expensive

After reading reviews we thought we would try this chippy before going home tomorrow.....big, big, HUGE mistake!! Cost me £10.30 for fish & chips & chips sausage peas & gravy....I may as well have tipped a tenner worth of grease down my throat. It was really greasy, chips tasted reheated & fish was bland. Seagulls seemed to enjoy it & my dog also seemed to enjoy the chips.....til I came back & she drank a full bowl of water....Guess she needed wash grease away too. If this is the best Berwick has too offer than I would rather starve 🤢🤮 Will get something tasty in Northumberland tomorrow.

Unfortunately I stumbled across this chip shop at lunchtime . I ordered a fresh hamburger and chips . I'm sure this picture doesn't do justice to how this "meal" looks or tastes never mind the awful smell . Chips obviously reheat I can't begin to describe how bad they are .. Anyway folks I'll leave it to you where you want to bin you're dinner

Although it's not on a main street, and hidden away, The Prior Chippy is well worth a visit. Food is generally VERY freshly cooked, tasty, and the cheapest around. Polite cheerful staff too. Well worth a visit
