Absolutely amazing bar and restaurant. Really friendly, helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend a visit.

We stopped in for Sunday Roast. Did not disappoint one bit. It was hands down one of the best Sunday Roasts we've had in a long time. Definitely one of the better meals on this 2 week trip to the UK. We both had the slow roasted lamb shank.

This is a great place for a casual meet up with friends. Food is lovely and the service was great. Outdoor seating for when the weather is nice and location is perfect, in city centre but far enough away from the less sophisticated venues in Market Square. It gets busy at the weekends so would definitely book a table if you plan to eat.

Amazing experience. Had Salmon Gravalax and the Steak & Stout pie. Absolutely superb. Some of the best food I've had and incredibly fast service considering it was a busy Saturday match day evening. Friendly attentive wait staff and good atmosphere. Highly recommend. Great guineas too. Thank you to our server, Ben.

Best fish and chips I've had in Nottingham. Came quickly and it was clearly fresh out the fryer. Generous portions, thick cut chips, nice tartar sauce and mushy peas and beautiful flakey fish in crispy batter. Can't complain about anything.

So nice. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and my vegan burger was great. The portions are huge and well worth the money, the interior decor was beautiful, the location is lovely and so were the staff. Highly recommend!

We booked for Sunday lunch while visiting Nottingham. This was our second visit and wasn’t disappointed. We all had roast - I had the lamb shank and others had chicken. We also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese. Husband and son also had desserts. All food was tasty, a great variety of vegetables on the plate. Reasonable price. Definitely recommend but worth booking as it gets very busy.

So.. we were invited back after being disappointed when visiting on Valentines Day. Big thing were expected but unfortunately on that occasion they didn't deliver.. Me and my partner were kindly invited back and everything was much improved! The service was sharp. No waiting times on food as everything came out in a good timely manner, although a little slow with the sides as they did not come out straight away. We had the onion Soup and White bait started.. lovely! The Soup was suprisingly good! We both had the pie and I would advise it to everyone! Nice and filling and plenty of flavour.. accompanied with a side of Cauliflower Cheese it was very VERY good! Thank you for inviting us back and making us feel so welcome. I will happily come back for more :)

Waiters in this place racially profile customers, mediocre food, reasonable outdoor seating area, that’s the only good thing about this place.

My son and I arrived and had to wait to be seated as a party was being seated. There only seemed to be a couple of people serving and it was very busy. We were seated and given menus. Someone came to take our drinks order and we were ready to order food and we were told that our food order would be taken later. Drinks were delivered and we then could order our food. My son is dairy intolerant and there wasn't very much on the menu that was suitable but the waitress tried to accommodate his dietary requirements - she checked with the chef and offered different options. He decided to go with the safe but tasty fish and chips. I had a lovely Lemon Chicken and Salsa Verde. Then my son had the sticky toffee pudding with vegan ice cream and I had a lovely pear and berry crumble with custard. We enjoyed our meals very much and the nice relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant - just felt a little unwelcome initially but the waitress tried very hard to be friendly once we were eating and settled in.

. Me and my partner returned for another visit and had a main an and a side of garlic bread to share. My lemon chicken main was so nice and healthy and it had so much flavour and the garlic bread was nice and fluffy, not only that the fothergills home-made cocktail was gorgeous.

Found this on Trip advisor and have to say I couldn't fault a thing. Service and food was amazing.

As always with this restaurant, we had fabulous food and drinks and excellent service.I should have asked the name of our server because he was brilliant and so attentive asking if we wanted more drinks at exactly the right moment. The food and atmosphere were great Having had a lovely Christmas meal there with friends in December, we got 50% off our food on this occasion which, at £66 was an excellent saving. Thank you to everyone.

We had a lovely lunch at Fothergills. The staff were so kind and friendly. They gave us a really nice table in a quiet area and were very attentive. The food was very good and there was a good selection for vegetarians. We would go again.

Excellent service, wonderful food in a friendly atmosphere, good value, definitely recommend to anyone, good extensive menu, good drinks menu, lovely setting inside and out.

Visited at lunchtime with my family. We always receive efficient and friendly service. The food was top notch and red hot. The menu offers enough choice without being over whelming. Going again soon.

I've waited for more than half an hour for a main dish，that is ridiculous.Whats more,there is only a little sweet potato and the bread tastes not good.

Very good atmosphere, sitting next to the glass window with views of the castle is a plus. The delicious and abundant food and the very correct treatment.

Guy with a piercing between his nose was hopefully busy and stressed as he was so rude to us. I'm hoping this wasn't his usual demeanour as after being in hospitality for many years I know this isn't the way to speak to customers. His manager, red haired, tattooed lady, was very rude too but otherwise a nice place to drink 🤣

On a recent trip to Nottingham we tried Fothergills for dinner. We turned up without a reservation but this was not a problem. We were given a seat in the window. I chose the Mushroom Pie. It came with lots of vegetables, mash and gravy which was a real treat being a vegetarian. You don’t often get gravy. My OH had a giant fish & chips, which he enjoyed. Staff were friendly and service was good.

Delicious food and good service, the sticky toffee pudding is a must try!!!

Christmas Party upstairs with Amazing staff, food was top notch, only criticism was lack of space for seat at the table.

A good place to go in the centre of Nottingham.

Started to become my go-to place to eat in Nottingham. The food is tasty good sizes portions, and fresh. Side of veggies, for example, isn't just some tasteless mush, but were baby roasted carrots and parsnips, with cabbage and leeks on the side too! Service is excellent - friendly and professional. And there is an excellent range of drinks too. Looking forward to my next meal at Fothergills.

Amazing place, food and atmosphere is great. Staff are friendly and helpful and it’s a pub you can just feel at home even when you go in on your own for a pint.

My friend & I had lunch here yesterday. The cocktail we had was really nice. The food we ordered was excellent & cooked to perfection. The service we received was also excellent. Would definitely recommend Fothergills as a place to eat.

Not been before and just wanted something to eat before a gig - really good atmosphere, super friendly and great service, and the food was unexpectedly excellent (I think it’s billed as a gastro pub but even so, we were a party of 6 and everyone commented on how good the food was). Gem of a find and full of warmth and atmosphere. Fabulous

Popped in today for a couple of drinks and really enjoyed the experience! A lovely bartender ( I think whose name was Brandon) recommended a British sparkling wine which I hadn’t tried before, was 10/10.

Sun Roast, very nice service, the food was great, the only negative point is the high tables at the entrance, you should have another place to eat, but otherwise TOP, parking in front of the door

Attended with three generations of the family earlier this week. Exceptionally friendly and incredibly helpful staff - front of house / waiting / bar. Food very much enjoyed. Many thanks! Will return !

Terrible service and the attitude of the bar tender was dismissive. After waiting outside for hot drinks, eventually we enquired where they were only to discover they were getting cold on a tray by the bar. The bar tender said ‘I’m the bar tender and not my responsibility to bring them out’. In the end my we carried the tray outside to our table and drank our luke warm drinks. Customer service…. Forget it, we will frequent establishments that value customers.

Nice place, great service but the food is a disappointment. I have ordered a rib eye steak, medium, with wild mushrooms and seasonal veggies aside. It came well done, no seasonal veggies and those are definitely not wild mushrooms - just ordinary champignons.

Food was delicious and service was great, but I couldn't get comfortable on the bar stool like chairs. Overall though, a really nice place to eat and would recommend

Dined here on a Saturday night. We booked and it was a good job as it was full. Very friendly service. Food was good and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere as well and outside seating overlooking the castle if the weather is nice.

Just arrived from USA and was ready for lunch. Harts hotel recommended Fothergill’s. We popped into this charming restaurant and thought it was very quaint. Unaware of Nottingham cuisine we asked the waiter Sam, recommendations for food and drinks. Sam recommended the beef pot pie, pint of ale and a glass of primitivo an Italian wine. We also had a brownie alamode. Sam did a great job! Well done Sam! One of the best meals I’ve ever had! We shall return. . We have alot more to see on our website. Bochelley travel

Atmosphere was class. Location + view is top tier. Fractionally understaffed so waited a while for our food but the service was brill... the Geordie lad that served us was a legend and bumped it up to a 5* from me...

Complete and very good dishes. Very attentive service and clean and welcoming premises. Highly recommended.

Working in the kitchen is terrible from how tiny and cramped the kitchen is for the amount of people that on shift, doesn't help that bar stuff comes in and out too, the women that also works in the kitchen was a extremely rude cow towards me and expects you know to know where everything is on day 1 on your first week when you're also dyslexic. Also expects you to be able to wash everything extremely fast when that impossible to do with the amount of pops that keep coming up one after another with no end or space for it and some how expects it to be extremely clean if you do it fast like they said to do instead of normal logically speed for it to be clean then get mad at you but won't get mad at the other person who took over and went fast and still was dirty. The kitchen need upgrading big time with lots more space and more sinks with more people working on the dishes to even keep up or cut down on the servings and tables. Overall poor working condition and the worse place I ever worked at in my life glad i quit working here so fast when I started.

Loved it. Reallly real nice food, spuds were not so crispy, and the sticky toffee was heavy on the orange zest BUT the overall meal was ace will definitely go back. Mrs daughter loved it too.

We went to Fothergills with family over from Australia and we had a great time. The food was lovely and the service was excellent, we had Sebastien serving us and he was great. He took photos for us and got a sneaky one of himself in too. One of our Australian party was Gluton free and she was so impressed with menu and the knowledge the staff had. We will definitely be returning.

Attended on a Sunday to celebrate a family birthday. Attentively looked after by Sebastien (thank you!) who was super kind, friendly and efficient with service, any requests and helped us add some candles to our daughter's dessert for her birthday, so sweet, thank you. Location is a great part of town, and I can imagine a nice summer eveving drink there is lovely. Food was great, I was disappointed that they had ran out of pork belly & crackling, but we did attend at 6:30pm so not surprised after a full day of serving Sunday roasts. We all had sides, desserts and the choice of sparkling wine was great, so nice to see an English sparkling wine by the glass. Coffee was also excellent (and I am a self confessed coffee snob). Will definitely return, really lovely place.

The place was really warming, the waitress that served us today on the round table was outstanding, we had alot of additional extras that was slightly confusing when we ordered but the waitress was really good at recommending ans working out the best options. The waitress was extremely friendly and smiley. The food was gorgeous and we cannot wait to return.

A little not-so-hidden treasure right at the foot of Nottingham Castle. The city hasn't been able to conquer us, on the contrary... walking around we stopped for a beer in this place which immediately struck us and we booked for dinner. Adorable place, clean and tidy, good quality of the wine and beers offering tasty dishes and the extremely courteous staff. The blond boy who served us was extremely kind and friendly.

One of the best places to eat in Nottingham. Staff are really lovely, food is exceptional, and location is out of the way, but close to city centre. Eaten here about a dozen times and always good.

Was there yesterday and had a coke and the helicopter burger. Sitting at the airport today and wanting to rent a car to drive back and the same again today. That burger was just amazing and the staff was extremly friendly. This place I will highly recommend.

Malek is an amazing waiter! Lovely, funny and charming. The food is amazing, typical British cuisine with a lot of personality. We will definitely come back hopefully we can find Malek again. The rest of the stuff was also charming but we enjoyed him the most.

Went for Sunday roast I had chicken breast and veg. 1 Roast potato 3 carrots and some green cabbage, and mash potatoes.The skinless chicken breast was over cooked dry and hard to cut, Overall the meal was very poorly cooked. Also my partners Draught Beer tasted stale. I expected a much better eating experience to match the Location, Decor, and service, than I got.

We were a family of 8 and were taken care of by Marek who was incredibly kind, funny, and attentive. Each of us loved our dinner and the chef even accommodated the children’s meals; thank you Marek for asking! Great music and atmosphere. Highly recommend to all! We will be back.

The atmosphere was lively, inviting and buzzing with awesome internal decor and amazing views of the castle visible from our table on the first floor. All staff were lively, friendly and helpful and the food was amazing, way above the quality of the average good restaurant, both in terms of taste and presentation. Good vegetarian options too. Looking for a great place for lunch? Try Fothergills in Nottingham. We came in for a post graduation lunch and we were NOT disappointed. The food and location were perfect (highly recommend the steak and ale pie), but the star of the show had to be our waiter Sébastian. If you want quality service he is your man! He had it all! Thanks again for a brilliant lunch, from myself and the family. We are all heading home stuffed and more than satisfied.

Lovely old building in a great location opposite the Robin Hood statue.. We arrived early - no problem, our table was ready. Provencale greens soup with focaccio bread for starers was spot on. I had the mushroom bourgignon pie for my main. My wife had steak & ale pie. Both were very good. The meal was washed down with very nice ale. Our waiter, Kyran, was excellent. The place was busy but he was always on hand to help or replenish the drinks. A real asset to the restaurant. Well worth a visit but be sure to book!

Back again to try the Sunday lunch! We really enjoyed the food with great service and lovely vile sitting outside in the sun! Had quick drink sitting outside in the sun. This is a great place to come when the weathers good! I would like to come back to try the food!

Lovely pub restaurant right next to Nottingham Castle. Staff very friendly, great atmosphere. Food was excellent. I had the lamb, feta and pomegranate salad - really different and delicious. Husband had the burger which he said was excellent and we shared the salted caramel profiteroles- outstanding! Definitely recommend.

Very good meal at the foot of the castle, not very expensive. The atmosphere is very good.

2nd time in Nottingham and found this place by the castle. Enjoyed it emensely! Had a scotch egg which was cooked petfect and the mustard sauce and picked onions make it even better. Had the steak and ale pie and again full of flavor and the veg was excellent as well!

Our first visit to Nottingham. We were recommended to visit Fothergills, which we did after visiting the Castle. We wanted a late lunch/early dinner, Thanks to Sam and Jude we were made very welcome. Great service and good food, some unusual choices on the menu.

We visited Nottingham Castle for the afternoon and wanted an early dinner. After seeing reviews on trip advisor we decided to try them out. Service was friendly and made some great recommendations. We tried the herb and goat cheese souffle, steak and ale pie, the fish and chips and the raspberry and white chocolate ice cream. Everything was prepared perfect and servers were attentive. On our way out they even had some great ideas on other places to visit in town. We accidentally left our bag and in an attempt to get it back to us, they rang the locations they had suggested. It was such a relief to get it back. They were fantastic all the way around.

Lovely place for a good Sunday roast. Staff were friendly and service was quick. My roast was very tasty and had loads of different elements. Lovely view of the castle too. Will definitely be back!

This was our first visit to Fothergills and it won’t be our last. Our meal was beautiful, the atmosphere lovely and the staff were attentive but didn’t come over unnecessarily. I had the moules mariniere as a main course and it was so gorgeous, portions were just right and so tasty.

Gorgeous find excellent food very reasonable for tge quality the French onion soup was amazing We hadn't booked but evie found us a table and was a very attentive host ensuring we had everything we needed I had the Sunday road and unfortunately they forgot to put roast potatoes on but not to worry I mentioned it to another fab host vanja and he promptly got me a bowl of some of the best roasties I've ever had we will definitely be back again
