We now understand why the food is so good and reasonably priced ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the owner is in the kitchen! Celia runs the bar, excellent local beers and a smile and very helpful. We don't go often, we must go more, the steak sandwich is enormous....best to share!

Went with my sister for lunch to visit the Fossebridge where our late Mum was a cook back in the 60s and my sister & I worked for a short time while living in Chedworth, The landlord was so welcoming and we both had fish & chips absolutely delicious, nothing has really changed about this beautiful hotel except of course the staff, we had a wonderful day reminiscing and then visited a few old neighbors in Chedworth, will definatly return...

We’ve been before as we have a holiday home nearby and they are one of the few pubs in the area that serve food on a Monday lunchtime. We have always found the service to be excellent, the food is a mix of standard items you find on a pub menu and specials - all the food is well cooked, fresh and tasty. This time we took our son for a Sunday lunch. We both had lamb and my wife went the half a roast chicken. Wife and son then shared a gorgeous fruit crumble. My son said it was one of the best Sunday lunches he has had- tender and perfectly cooked meat, a fab Yorkshire pudding, steamed veg, roasties and lashing of perfect gravy. Extremely dog friendly with biscuits and bowels of water for them to enjoy. Parts of the pub go back to the 1600’s and it feels like a traditional Cotswolds pub. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

My wife and I stayed here for one night as we were attending an airshow nearby. Dee and Geoff were welcoming, professional and attentive. The building is charming and over 400 years old. Our room was clean and well appointed, and it was made very clear to us that because the walls are very thick, wifi was highly unlikely to work in the room. Wifi is available in the bar area. Cell phone coverage is spotty because this is a very rural area, and again this was explained to us. We had a drink on the lawn outside, which is beautifully cared for. It was explained that we could not eat outside because at this time of year, insects from the rver nearby would be attracted to the food. This is a dog friendly inn, and we saw a number of people with dogs both outside and inside - a plus for us, but if you are not a dog person, you should be aware. Moving into the bar area for our dinner, we had a great meal, reasonable priced. We needed an early breakfast the next day, so just had juice, coffee, yoghurt and cereal. The lady serving breakfast was warm and friendly. This is a long review, but having seen other less positive ones, I wanted to explain in more detail what our experience was. We consider it a real gem that we have discovered, and we will definitely go back to stay there in the future.

It’s so nice to find pubs that still sell good pub food. This is a privately owned property and it shows. All the staff were very friendly, nothing was to much trouble, food very good and as a free house ,very good selection (5) of real ales. All in all a great atmosphere. Would defiantly stay here again.

Met friends in this cold pub. Was told there was a radiator on in the other room which was full! The main bar area was so cold so I had to keep my coat on. There was no understanding from the landlord, although our waitress was friendly. The chicken pie had a very sloppy filling with virtually no meat, but the vegetables were ok. The exterior looked run down with loads of stone walling falling down and portacabins. There are so many other pubs in the Cotswolds and this one needs to improve.

Me and my family stayed in this inn for 2 days to see family. Now there are basic needs that are expected to be met in this day in age and one of those is wifi. However the wifi is unusable and outright disgraceful. Now the rooms were pretty and the tiling was magnificent but how hard is it to have wifi in this day in age. I do not plan on returning to this establishment until this wifi Debacle is put to rest.

Payed £80 per person for Christmas Day- the service was awful. One miserable waiter to serve 4 tables, the largest being about 20. Ordered drinks with table water- drinks finally arrived after 2nd course, water arrived after 3rd course the main roast. Roast was the worst ever- Meat with pale roast potatoes and boiled carrots, sprouts and cauliflower, no roasting, no seasoning, no flavour, asked for salt and pepper and got given it until nearly finished and was rudely told ‘we don’t use salt here’ the food and service awful. What made our christmas was being together as a family. Would never return to this place again.

We used to visit frequently a few years ago as its a cosy pub in a wonderful setting. However, I won’t be going back again. The staff were at times just rude but in the main totally incompetent when it comes to good service. Barman simply walked off half way through our order, waiter said if we don’t sit down now the chef will throw the food at him. Beyond that it was just a struggle to get through the meal. Difficult to get served drinks, condiments, desert etc. It was all hard work.Sunday roast was pretty poor and was no better than i could have made at home. Totally overpriced with staff who were either having a really bad day, or could do with visiting some other restaurants to learn a little about basic manners and service.Felt like the Cotswolds answer to Fawlty Towers

Called in on the off chance for an early evening meal. Most of the tables had reserved on them so we nearly left but the man behind the bar said they were from earlier in the day. I had the pan fried sea bass which was very enjoyable & my husband had the sausage and mash (his 2nd choice, as they had no homemade cottage pie)which he said was very tasty. It had a lovely homely feel to the bar/eating area. The only down side was when some locals came in for a drink talking very loudly with some rather unpleasant language. I realise for some people this is acceptable but it's not what I wanted to listen to whilst eating my meal, hence 4 star not 5 for the meal.

This place has lots of Cotswold character: exposed stone walls, wooden beams, an old wood burning stove and so on, but for me it does rather have too much the feel of a restaurant than a pub. Most of the tables have 'reserved' signs on them, even on a mid-week lunchtime and it's certainly not the sort of place to go for a game of darts or doms. Food is very good; nothing too ambitious, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Pan Seared Sea Bass (£16.50), served with spring onion mash and parsley sauce. The accompanying vegetables were carrots, cauliflower and broccoli which were well prepared albeit somewhat predictable. They have a good selection of four or five ales including the tasty Fossebridge Ale, brewed specially for the pub.

The service was efficient and friendly without being in the least intrusive and Carl was very willing to engage with us all and very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant. He also kept the younger members of the group entertained, showing us a card trick and a new game. We will definitely be back soon and would highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice meal out!

We have a holiday home in Cotswolds so drive down the A429 most weekends and like to try a new place to eat either on the way or on the way home. The outside area is lovely and as it was a sunny day so sat outside - so far so good.I went into the bar to order drinks , extremely slow service for a place that wasn't busy. The manager finally came round to serving me by saying "what do you want" ! This was the start of the rudeness and to cut a long story short , our order came out wrong, slow service, food was very mediocre, the pie was ok but all the veg was raw and cold. We didn't receive our bread and oil which I asked to come out first as we were so hungry. My wife went to check on where this was after about 10 mins and the manager told her that "it does come out of a different kitchen you know"! Well this kitchen must be in Timbuktu as we're still waiting for this bread. When I went to pay the bill, again with the manager he left the bread on the bill to which I challenged and instead of being apologetic he was just rude and saw it as my problem that I wasn't happy with that or the service. All in all not a place I would return to, as I say the outdoor area is nice, but slow service, ok food and disgustingly rude manager means not some where I would want to visit again.

we only went in for soup as it was a typical " Spring " day so not very warm. We had had a similar visit before so made it a stop for lunch. The bread was warm and fresh but the soup was lukewarm. This was easily rectified and we enjoyed our soup with a glass of real ale beer

Part way through our walk we visited this warm cosy pub. We had a lovely welcome from the staff and resident dog Gibson. We enjoyed it so much we went back a couple of days later. We had a prawn bagette and chunky chips it was absolutely lovely! We'll be back again. It's dog friendly too

We saw this Inn when driving through to Stow. It looked very inviting. We dined here so we cannot comment on the accommodation. We walked in and was instantly greeted with negativity from barman. He was curt and unfriendly. This was totally not what we expected and was so unwelcoming I didn't want to stay. The food smelled good when passing by so we ordered a steak sandwich and pate despite being told that food was not being served for another hour by the unfriendly barman ! Best steak sandwich ever. Pink meat and not too bready. Pate very nice. There was then a change of Bar staff with an elder gentleman- wow what a difference. Wished he was on duty when we had arrived. He was totally what you expect in this pub and not the negative unfriendly barman that 'greeted' us. We would recommend going if it wasn't for the first barmans attitude.

We popped in after visiting relatives for a late lunch early supper. The bar was busy and had a nice atmosphere, there's no phone connection as you are in a natural dip, but it didn't bother us! We didn't ask re Wifi.We shared a prawn and chorizo starter which was very good. We then had roast lamb and roast beef which was lovely. There were no roast potatoes so we had new potatoes. The Yorkshire's were large and there were plenty of vegetables.

I grew up near Fossebridge and now live abroad. Every summer we come back to the UK and every summer we have a terrible experience at the Fossebridge inn. We keep returning because of the beautiful garden, but will return no more. The staff are rude and patronizing, and determined to make the visit unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. Want to move two tables together to accommodate a large group? Not allowed. Want to put your umbrella up to keep rain off instead of sun? Nope. Book a table outside but arrive to find they've decided you should eat inside? Yep.. There are so many wonderful pubs within a few miles of Fossebridge. Go to one of them instead.

I have had several lunches at this pub which have been nice. I therefore organised to meet some friends here for an evening meal last Saturday. The garden is lovely and the pub very atmospheric but the food was very poor and so was the service. The steak was very average and the fish and accompanying vegetables were completely overlooked. The pub was empty apart from us and I am not surprised.

Stopped here for a light lunch. The garden had plenty of seating and a wonderful setting. The menu ranged from a sandwich/baguette to a main meal. We opted for a baguette and a pint. We chose an egg mayonnaise, a ham & tomato and a bacon & brie baguette, all delicious, served with crisps and a small side salad. Just the job for a light lunch. We strolled around the small lake after and enjoyed good weather. Not cheap but not overpriced. Worth stopping for.

Wonderful location for this old fashioned pub and hotel. Beautiful Garden to sit in and lake with birds for adventures if you are a child. Pub has fabulous food, the pies are my favourite! A good selection on the usual menu and specials. There is also a restaurant and menu as well. Excellent for popping in for a beverage, spot of food or an occasion. Must see.

The grounds are so very English with a river running through and swans and ducks. The pub is traditional, and the food is gourmet with options for families as well. Perfect placebos it with a drink on a sunny day, or stay inside the beautiful pub/restaurant on a colder or rainy day.

Despite having lived only a few miles away for over 20 years I only recently visited for the firsttime and have now been 3 times in quick succession. Excellent beers well kept and in good condition. All day service of food makes this ideal for a spontaneous meal at odd times of the day. On separate occasions I have enjooyed excellent chicken pie and a huge excellent Sunday roast. The extensive gardens with large lake are wonderful to walk around or sit and admire. Beautiful in the sunshine. Good parking.

Great inn filled with character and atmosphere. Beautiful Gardens and location. Food and service were both OK. My fish and chips were good but my partners classic pie was made with very hard and over cooked pastry and the venison was chewy and tough. Fine for a stop but don't expect great food.

Four adults (one vegetarian and one vegan), one baby, and two dogs popped here for lunch mid-week. It's a gorgeous building and fairly quiet during the day. We phoned up in advance and they emailed us a vegan menu (to be pre-booked) as well as the vegetarian menu. All four of our meals were amazing! My only criticism is that the menus are not available online, so people will not know about the great options they have. The man serving us was very friendly and gave the dogs some treats. There were no baby changing facilities but they kindly let me use one of the hotel rooms. Great place, thoroughly recommended, and we will be back again soon!

We called in here by chance for lunch when we were in the area. It was a Friday and there was a wedding party in progress. However we received our meals in good time and with pleasant service. The lady that took our order offered a smaller size fish and chips for my elderly mum and she thoroughly enjoyed it. There were anchovies in my delicious caesar salad - I am always disappointed when served this dish without them! So full marks for food! Its a comfortable, old inn with pleasant gardens. Would pop by again.

My Niece and her newly wed husband had their wedding reception here at the Fossebridge Inn.I can honestly say that this was the very BEST wedding reception Lady Katherine and I have been to.Catering for wedding guests is not easy for an establishment and I have to say in all honesty the Fossebridge Inn excelled themselves. The food was AMAZING! Right from the word go, everything was delicious. We were greeted in the garden by a charming gentleman who served us with drinks. A glass of sparkling Prosecco, fruit juice or fresh lemonade. The start of service was late, but, that was no fault of the establishment. Hey, it happens and people have to deal with this sort of thing. However, once service was under way, the food was well worth waiting for.The cream of vegetable soup was both tasty and piping hot. There is nothing worse than luke warm soup.Roast beef and all the trimmings was next. Oh my days, what a plateful we received. The portions were very generous and everything was cooked to perfection. Again, it was piping hot and beautifully presented on the plate. Not just thrown on there and drowned with gravy. This was both elegant to look at and a joy to eat.Lemon tart with homemade ice cream and a while chocolate shard was next. A beautiful dessert both to look at and eat. My hat goes off to the Fossebridge Inn, they truly exceeded our expectations. As I mentioned before mass catering for over 50 people is not easy and yet the Fossebridge Inn managed extremely well. The staff were very professional and very diligent and were very eager to help. The whole day went like a fairytale and the Fossebridge Inn was the icing on the wedding cake. Well done to the whole team.

We went here for Sunday on a beautiful day and were able to sit outside and admire the lovely view all around. From the moment we walked in we were treated as valued customers who wanted our business . The food arrived very quickly. I had a child's portion which was the same size as I would have had at home but my husband's portion was huge although he managed to eat it all. It was well cooked and the meat was well cooked and very tender. The sweets too were delicious too. The waiting staff were very accommodating although they didn't say much but were efficient considering how busy they were. I would certainly pay it another visit.

We've had lunch here twice before and enjoyed it. We returned yesterday for the first time for 2-3 years. What a shock. Previously the place has been heaving with punters. Yesterday, almost empty on a beautiful sunny May day.The starters were fine. For main course I chose cottage pie (made to the family's special recipe .. sounds really good I thought). Well it wasn't; in fact I couldn't eat it. I had trouble finding the meat - the whole thing was bulked up with vegetables. We skipped the desserts and ordered coffee at the bar, by which time we were now on our own in the restaurant. Notwithsanding that it took 15 minutes to arrive, when it did my double expresso was lukewarm.Never again
