Good to make a visit after moving away a few years ago. Good they were open at 5 pm, first customers, great food and service. Would recommend.

Great value at £15.95 for the lunch buffet, shame it's only 12pm-2pm but we go regularly. Never that busy but maybe it's not advertised on their window now only the evening price of £27.95.

Absolutely terrible service and food. She got the order wrong 3 times. You could clearly see the food was not fresh at all and a very bad version of Chinese food. After she got our order wrong multiple times she came to tell us the kitchen was closing and we can’t order anymore, but we did ask in advance if they still serve food or not. Would not recommend ever, incredibly expensive and horrible food.

The food was average and the staff were not friendly.

Food was disgusting which is such a shame as I ventured out from our usual Chinese to try something new and was completely let down. The food tastes dirty in its self the chicken curry is disgusting the sauce tastes like it’s from a packet, in fact I would probably say that is better. It tastes like pure curry powder out the pot and is more like a gravy than a curry sauce. The salt and pepper chips was over friend and not proper salt and pepper chips they literally had a few chilli flakes sprinkled on. The chicken balls was again over fried and all of it tasted of dirty oil, not one part was enjoyable I am completely let down by something that should have been nice for £50 I hope I can help people from the same let down and food waste please be vigilant when ordering and don’t fall into the trap of disgusting food like we did. I don’t recommend anything but to steer clear and save your money

We had a take away for 7 people. Food was Excellent and very well packed .Arrived 45 min after order piping hot . Best bits Chicken Satay .Sizzling Beef. Ribs both flavours

Popped in for a pre theatre meal. The all you can eat food was enough but at £72 for two people with a glass of wine and a beer I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

I felt the evening started well. I wasn't sure how it worked and we ordered our drinks and starters. I was really surprised how quickly the food arrived. Unfortunately my vegetable spring rolls were served on a sharing platter, basically my spring roll was resting on a pork rib! I ordered this because I am vegetarian. Another portion was ordered on its own plate. Then our "mains" arrived. This was nice to see the variety of colour and smells when our mains were served. It was a shame about the service I feel that they could have been more attentive. We had to keep calling over the waiter for cutlery, napkins and drink orders. I felt that most of our main curries were very gravy tasting, like a slodgy, salty mix up. There was random roast potatoes in some of our curries. Food was under average. The toilet was nicely decorated but the ladies soap dispenser was broken and the hand pump version provided was empty. A large group over 10 covers arrived and I knew we were going to lose the bare minimal service we were already receiving. We had to ask for bill multiple times and eventually we stood up and got ready to leave. After putting my coat on and approaching front of the shop I finally met a card machine. There is a mandatory service charge btw! The lady that took the payment could barely look me in the eye. There was no genuine interest in how our evening went. I would have thought this would have been a perfect opportunity to get to know your guest and thank them for their custom. She didn't say a bloody word. Not even thank you, but she did say Bye! Very rude and basic food.

The service was slow, seemed disinterested. It wasnt a busy evening so was surprised though it looked like they were busy with take aways. I found the food was tasteless, and it tasted all very similar. The egg fried rice didn't taste nice nor did the Singapore spicy noodles. I thought the food was not of good or fair quality.

1st and last time having a home delivery worst Chinese I've had the beef chowmaine was like alot of slop couldn't eat it and the chicken balls were more dough than chicken and soggy chips so disappointed won't use again

the food is great but sadly the waitress/manager is absolutely rude. no disregard at all she treats food on plates like they are frisbees! she comes across as angry and she is a liability not an asset at all. she makes dining there unpleasant like herself. if she is not happy doing this she might be better off doing something else otherwise you will not get any punters. she will lead to your eventual closure that is all. i would not bother going there if you want a good dining

We had a lovely meal all the food was very tasty. A wide selection of food and generous portions. Staff was attentive good overall service.

We’ve started going here as the other local ‘eat all you can chinese’ has really gone down hill. We went a little unsure but have found service to be friendly and food to all be hot, freshly cooked and tasty. However, watch out on the Sunday lunch buffet as it’s a very limited menu with no duck or other goodies. Admittedly it’s cheaper but when we went it was a special occasion so it was a bit of a let down on that occasion

Restaurant was pleasant not too busy, staff were polite and attentive. Food arrived quickly and was hot and tasted good apart from a massive piece of ginger in one dish which wasn't good at all! Slightly pricey but I would still go back as overall a good experience

Only gave one because you cannot give nothing. Online advertised as £15.99 actual cost was £24.90 a heD. I should have checked the bill. However, I rang up to query this and basically they argued ams hung up. They were not interested in the fact it was advertised at £15.99. I said "I would go to trading standards" and they said, "ok what ever you like" false advertising. AVOID

Our waiter was lovely but off putting when manger kept shouting at the young waiter not nessasary and humiliating for the waiter, other dinners were not impressed either totally not ok to do, we felt sorry for him he could not of done more for us he was amazing

Ordered here as Oriental House is closed on a Monday. Will never use this as alternative. Should have cooked at home instead. Feeling sick

We’ve been here a number of times in the evenings and it’s been excellent. However, went on Sunday for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday to find a restricted menu. Admittedly it was cheaper but meant there was no duck course, no seafood etc. We didn’t see this referred to on the website (May have missed it) but be aware, not as good as the evening menu. We’d have happily paid full price for a full selection.

Really rude and aggressive waitress banging plates down on the table , which is a shame because the food is great.

RATS IN THE PLACE went there to eat on 13/02/22 had terrible service we was ordering then waitress just walked off, then had to ask someone else then they took our order, then food eventually came out while she was arguing with other waitress the slapped the food on table, then table next to us started screaming looking up and there was rats.!!!!!!

Not a great experience unfortunately... I never tend to moan but I think my comments are warranted. Some of the dishes were ok, but we found that the sauces were heavily loaded with vinegar? My 'rib' in the starter was literally a dry bone covered with sauce! Chicken curry was lovely and so were the dimplings however. The worse part was the waitress... Understandably, she was very busy, but she literally threw the plates on the table, whilst carrying bags of takeaway at the same time. There was no connection or eye contact, we felt like we were a hindrance. It was such a shame as it was a special occasion for us and the whole experience took the edge off to be honest. Deffo go to China Palace next time!

My son booked a table for 11 people 3 kids 8 adults for 5pm, obviously kids are slow eaters at 6pm we were told we had to be out by 7pm we'd only just had drinks and starters by then. starters came out with 2 items on a plate no mention of it being 2 starters on 1 plate someone might have had a peanut allergy satay chicken and ribs on same plate. 3 people had to share 1 bowl of egg fried rice. Staff didn't seem to care really just wanted you out. Will never go there again when working out the bill they asked us to move. Food wasn't great either

Firstly I have to say the food we got was lovely, BUT the service was absolutely awful, half the food we ordered didn't arrive and when you order your meal with a main and a rice and then your waiting for your rice to then be told it's up the other end of the table and you have to share one bowl of egg fried rice between 6 of the 11 people on you table!!! We ordered more but didn't arrive so we had to all be polite and take one spoonful each! Then we were told half way through our meal they needed our table in an hour for the next session?? Really should of been told that at booking. Given the bill and manager trying to rush us to pay as next lot waiting for our table... um excuse us there is 11 of having to work out what drinks ect we have!! Never go there, manager is very rude and rushing, for £22.90 a head not worth the hassle........ thanks for ruining my Son's 30th birthday meal

Firstly the food was actually quite good which was surprising because the service was absolutely shocking, one waitress in particular was so rude she was slamming plates on the table, talking about us to her other colleagues, We asked for what we wanted and they would bring it out expecting 1 portion to be shared with 4 people, we had asked several times that some dishes still hadn't come and eventually just gave up! As there was 11 of us we was working out the bill and because she had other people waiting for the table she started to try force us out when we was simply working out the individual prices, Without a doubt we will not be returning.. waste of money and horrendous service!

never ever write reviews but i just can't let this one slip. The lady manager is the rudest person i have ever come across, we have just got in from the birthday dinner which was for my daughter. she under charged us by accident so we paid the difference what we owed. only to see that they then had over charged us and charged my child an adults price! When confronted they refuse to give the extra money back that they had charged us.. the manager refused to talk to me , and kept telling her staff in her language what to say! and none of them would give me the refund, the service through out was shocking, customer service skills are disgusting, they all a shout in there language across the restaurant to each other, none of them talk to you they just honestly are the most unwelcoming people ever. 10% service charge added for the worst service of your life!

Terrible!! Ordered via Deliveroo 13/11 - order number 7640. Waited over an hour and the order never arrived. Disputed this with Deliveroo and requested a refund online who were unable to even get through on the phone to the restaurant. They raised the issue with the restaurant. Heard nothing more from Deliveroo so followed up tonight 24/11 to be told that the restaurant confirmed they delivered! Fortune Inn you didn’t deliver and I would like my money back. Will not order again.

My wife and I had a very pleasant evening dining in the restaurant we both enjoyed the food very much every thing was cooked to a very high standard we shall return

Arrived here at 13;15 on Saturday 13th to be greeted at the door and first thing out of waitresses mouth was kitchen close in half hour, now if this was my business and I found out my staff was telling people this on a Saturday lunch service Id be pretty cheesed off. Nevertheless my family and I sat down, I know know we shouldn't of stayed but we did. To say we were made to feel unwelcome is an understatement, we ordered drinks which the girl totally got wrong because she didn't really listen, she was far more interested in rushing us along. The starters were lovely, even though we felt like she was hovering to whip the plates away as soon as we'd finished. We ordered our mains and then a slight altercation happened at another table where she bluntly told them they no longer let them take away uneaten food, of which there was a fair bit, so they'd rather throw the food away, what a complete waste!!!!!! Our mains arrived to then quickly be told was there anything else as "kitchen close kitchen close". mains were not as good as starters by a long shot, we felt they had been rushed, and how right we were as the kitchen staff marched past us and stood at the front door waiting for us to finish. we felt so uncomfortable it was horrible, yes I know we only had three quarters of an hour but to loose business after COVID is I think unacceptable.

We ordered from here last night. Absolutely terrible. Pad Thai was literally noodles in a sweet and sour sauce. Gyoza were inedible. Wings were devoid of any flavour. My wife called to complain and was told they don’t put greens or nuts or a slice of lime in the Pad Thai due to allergies. We asked if they would come and pick it up as, bar a taste or each dish, the portions were largely untouched. We were told because we’d tried the dishes they could not pick them up or offer a refund. Could not have had a worse experience. You would do better to buy from your local supermarket. Without a doubt better than this shambles of a restaurant.

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered and we were still waiting 1.5hrs later on a Monday evening. We phoned and were told it was on it's way. We rang to say it had not arrived and were then told they had not started the order!!! Avoid!

we used to visit this establishment on a regular basis before it changed hands and were always satisfied with the food/ experience/service after reading some negative reviews about it changing owners we were a bit worried about visiting again, but we were pleasantly surprised its exactly the same as before nothing has changed food all good and tasty good service clean environment, if you liked this restaurant before, go again nothing has changed, we will return again and again!

3 1/2 rather than 3…. Definitely above average. We had delivery and we’ve never been to this restaurant before. We ordered through Just Eat. It took a while and we worried that it took so long to deliver given it said “en route” long before we needed to call in and we’re told it was just leaving. The restaurant was kind enough to call us back after our enquiry. Very good service. The food was very nice. We had Mongolian lamb, Malaysian Kung Po pork, and Pad Thai, and egg fried rice (1). The Mongolian lamb was spicy and crispy, really tasty, the Kung Po excellent, but the Pad Thai although hot, a large portion generously chickened, was a bit bland. Not enough bean sprouts or peanuts. Very impressed with the quality of the pork lamb and chicken meat though. Really enjoyed the Kung Po. I would eat here again and would try eating in the restaurant once COVID-19 allows. I would recommend the food.

Been coming here for years but never again. Don’t get me wrong, it’s never been great, the attitude and service has always been awful. But we came because it was a reasonable price for good food. However, it has increased in price A LOT , £25 pp for mediocre Chinese and tap water, awful service and zero atmosphere. No wonder we were the only ones in there!

£23 for an all you can (or might risk) eat buffet. Topped off with a miserable service. Just saying...

The establishment has changed hands and unfortunately the attitude of the staff has also slumped too! The variety on the end has been reduced, the ingredients is lacking along with the quality. Suggest an alternative!

Best food!! I've just moved to worthing tried a few Chinese restaurants and no one beats fortune inn! Food always early steaming hot and tasty!!

We’ve been here a few times since living in Worthing and it has always been a good experience. The quality of the food is very good, hot, reasonably fresh and tasty, and served quickly. There seems to have been a price increase since we last visited but given the current climate it’s understandable. Staff could be a little friendlier and smile a bit, when it came to payment it was somewhat abrupt and no thanks given for our custom. Its also the first time we’ve been served by someone in leggings and trainers! Generally good, but some improvements to staff are necessary - something which is echoed in other reviews.

This is my go to Chinese restaurant! I’ve been going here for over 3 years now, and each visit has been faultless. I’ve taken multiple people over the years and everyone LOVES it! Only thing is the price creeps up every year :-(

The food we received was terrible, I do mean really bad. The container was 2/3 whole dried red chillies and they were the cheap flavourless hard type.The chicken was dry and tasteless too! They gave us Singapore noodles instead of rice and it was nearly as bad. So I rang the restaurant and I spoke to member of staff and they said they would get manager to call me back. However no call back, rang restaurant back again, still no call back. So rang again and this time the manager answered. I explained the situation, from the outset of the the conversation he was difficult and rude; he said if he gave a refund to everyone that complained then he would go bust, asked me to keep the food to one side. I explained I had thrown away but had taken pictures to show them in case they did not believe me. He refused to refund me, even though I said I would take it further. After winding me up unnecessarily he then informed me if I wanted a refund I would have go through Deliveroo. The manager acted so obstructivly and was so rude; he even said I had to ask him nicely!!!! Really!!Do not eat here! they do not have a clue about customer relations or how to deal with an issue. I have never been so disappointed and disgusted with any establishment this much before; I have explained to them there will be ramifications for the way they have treated me. I would have submitted pictures but max size 5mb too large!!!

First the food: really fantastic Chinese food, well above average for both taste and presentation. The service on the other hand was pretty slow and on several occasions items were missed (3 or 4 - so more than is really acceptable). The floor was also very slippery, like it hadn't been cleaned properly, it was very really quite dangerous it was that slippery. I will definitely go back for a follow up visit, as I would like to think that this was just a bad night. It was really busy and maybe they were just under staffed due to illness, but it will only get one more chance. The food really is great though, hence the extra chance. ------ EDIT ------ On a follow up visit I received great service and can confirm that the food was just as good, so I have amended this review to give credit it where it is most certainly due. Additional star added too!

home delivery. Food was delivered only after 10 minutes we ordered, in a normal situation we would be happy with this, but you can only think that the food was not fresh and only reheated if able to deliver in 10min. the driver was rude, the 'creamy' hot' soup was water and tasted nothing but sweet, noodles also tasteless and the oyster sauce completely bland. never ordering again from this place! what a waste of money!!

The food is good and fresh, and served off a menu rather than a buffet despite being all you can eat which is it's big selling point. Service can be a little hit and miss, not slow, but could sometimes be friendlier / less rushed.

Doesn’t even deserve 1 star, each dish was tasteless or undercooked, 90% went in the bin, 100% won’t order from there again.

I will never set foot in this place again, never been treated so badly. The waitress was just so rude!!! Not a pleasant experience and to pay and be treated like that!!! They don't deserve any customers, I will vote with my feet to never return

A very busy evening. However waiting for an hour to receive your starters is not acceptable. Ordering drinks , wine came straight away the beers took another twenty minutes not a great start. Food was good but unfortunately not a pleasant evening.

Staff so rude, service dreadful. Half the stuff we ordered didn’t come and when we tried to reorder we were given attitude by male waiter. Used to be a brilliant restaurant have been going for years but never again.

Food and service was fine. Staff were really scruffy tho. Never been served by someone in sweat pants before. One staff member was shouting at a dodgy delivery bloke and it wasn't about food. All very aggressive and all the customers left quickly. Won't be going back. A wierd experience

"Waitress" was very rude. I walked in and waited about a minute and she came up to me and said 'Yes?', not welcome, hello etc. I asked to eat in and she barked "£18.90". Then the phone rang and she said "wait", answered it and went to the back of the restaurant again. I waited for another minute, then as she walked towards me I decided not to eat in because of her attitude. Certainly will not be going back.

The very best Chinese food we've ever had ! ....& we've been to many ... in our opinion nowhere else even comes close ... always just incredible ! .... we return again & again !!! etc etc etc

I used to regularly have the “buffet” lunch here which is good value for money. As the place is closed due to Covid I had a delivery last night. Again it was good value & the food was really yummy. I had chicken fried rice, the Beijing chicken & black pepper beef. Will definitely order a delivery again!

Super service :) Been here plenty of times and youre always made to feel like you are the only one there. Portions are ideal, as you dont want to waste anything, and they send out smaller plates to assure you don't. Food is always hot hot hot!! Comes out speedy too. Compared to the 'all you can eat' next door, this one is superior!!

WORST FOOD EVER. Avoid at all costs very rude service, horrible food had a very upset stomach after eating called the ask for allergy in food was shouted at and was hung up.

The foof was tasteless and the tiny bit I ate was so hot even the peanut sauce burnt the top of my mouth. I am not sure why the staff are so rude and off. There was hardly anyone the place and very very expensive. Certainly not worth the money or visit i would never recommend.

We went here some time ago and had a very nice meal and reasonably priced, went here recently and the prices have shot up to over £20 each, the restaurant was nearly empty this tells you something! the mixed starter was very average with dried up prawn toast and as for the ribs, just bone and gristle. the rest of the meal was not good at all very sloppy and tasteless, we were given tiny plates like childrens, and the portions of food were very small so make sure you order double what you need. not impressed and will not be going back.

Saturday lunch is the best! The food is always hot and tasty. It's the best value for money and the food is so good! Although it was busy with only one waiter serving the service was great and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is always clean.

I have eaten here twice over the past 3 months, on work visits to Worthing. The food is very tasty, and portions are good sized.

We have been going to The Fortune Inn for a a couple of years now, we have never had a reason to complain, the staff are always very friendly and the food is always piping hot and delicious,We went for a meal last night to celebrate our daughters 21st Birthday, luckily we booked as the restaurant was full, all of the staff were very attentive and smiling and the meal was delicious.We have always recommended the Fortune Inn to family and friends and will continue to do so!Keep up the great work!

We came here for a family meal. A couple of the staff seemed nice enough but overall the attitude of the waitresses were awful and unapproachable. Food was good but wish I had ordered a take away and saved myself the money.

Wow, haven’t been here for a long time but will certainly be back. Food was full of flavour, fresh and delicious so along with the super service I couldn’t find fault.

Every time I visit this restaurant the price goes up and it’s now too expensive at £18:90. The staff rushed us and lean over you to serve, the food was good but not worth the money.

As October 1st was China National Day's 70th Anniversary I decided to take my wife for a special evening meal to celebrate. I had ordered a table for two a few days before. When we arrived we were immediately shown to a table, given the food menu and drinks menu and plenty time to decide on our choices. There was a nice ambience, the tables are all laid up with cloth table clothes and large cloth napkins (a nice touch compared to many other restaurants) We ordered China tea and Tiger beer then various dishes at intervals which all came piping hot and freshly cooked. The roast duck was the best I have ever tasted outside of China (decent strips, not shredded as a lot of other places tend to serve it). The staff were very friendly and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal which, like the lunch time menu, is "eat as much as you want", there is plenty of choice with them catering for diet allergies as required. Will definitely be returning again in the not too distant future.

It's so sad to see fish living like this. I went back today for a family meal and they still haven't done anything about the tank. It used to be lovely - full of life and plants and scenery so I have no idea why they've taken that all away.

You can't fault the food. It's lovely. The problem I had was with the attitude of the staff. They are rude and uninterested in good customer service.

3 16 year old children went in to eat. Had nothing more than a few different items from the menu, the bill came and then they were faced with a bill for nearly £60. They all say they were not given a choice or information on a all you can eat evening until they came to pay. It's a shame as we loved eating there.

Visited the restaurant with friends. No friendly welcome. Sour faced male waiter. Food good and fairly quick service. No waiter came up to see if everything was ok. Asked for more hoi sin sauce. Waiter just brought out a squeeze sauce bottle and squirted it into the dish on the table. When we got the bill the money was just taken away. No thank you, no hope you enjoyed your meal. Wish now that I’d removed the service charge (which legally you are not obliged to pay). I have never been to any restaurant that had such miserable unfriendly staff.
