Fortune Inn in Taunton Deane

My order was not delivered. Contacted the restaurant and they clearly delivered to the wrong address. Refused to resend my order. Said to busy. Refused to pay me back. Then they hung up.

Placed an order for delivery. It never arrived. Did confirm the correct address. They stated they sent it. Someone answered and said never ordered anything. When I stated I was here all night…they changed the story and said they wrong the bell and no one answered. Clearly delivered to the wrong address. The person I spoke to was rude and clearly did not care and had zero respect as spoke to me like a piece of dirt from the start. Kept interrupting and refused to re send order or refund my money. Do not go to or use this restaurant. Clearly do not care about customers and just want your money. If they make a mistake they WILL NOT rectify it.

Great atmosphere came for food and live entertainment

Very lovely owner, eat in and takeaway. Sat with food very quickly. Food came warm and in large portions. Very pleased. Customer service was lovely.

Terribly late! And when we called not even so much as an apology! We used these guys for a while but this is the last time!!!

Tuesday pub quiz, now what an incredible night, food is the best Chinese I have had takeaway and now sitting in. Service is always amazing from the owners(including the tiny one), bar staff and quiz host 🍸

Delicious and tasty food but unacceptable delivery time which took 1 hour 30 minutes to arrive, and this was a Thursday evening, must be even longer at weekends! We had to phone twice to check where our order was and told both times it was on the way when clearly it wasn’t. Will not be ordering a take away for delivery again, which is a shame as the food was good.

I ordered takeaway for collection on a Saturday early evening and made the order over an hour before collection time. On arrival I had to stand for over half an hour waiting for the food to come from the kitchen. The two chicken dishes were quite nice as was the chilli beef; the mixed veg was on a rather gloomy sauce and the fried noodles were very overpriced. When the food appeared I said to the staff that was too long to wait and their response was "we're busy". I said I probably would not be returning and the response was "fair enough". I'm not Impressed with the customer service which is a shame because the food isn't bad. Probably will now look for another takeaway in town.

Ridiculous waiting time, ordered at 6.30pm for 8pm and didn’t turn till 9.10pm. Had to phone the restaurant because the order had been marked as delivered when it hadn’t been to be told it was 5min out and still took another 40min to get it actually delivered. Food was good just disgusted by how long we had to wait.

Great food from a real family business.

My partner I had been out for a lovely event close by and although not local stumbled across this restaurant almost describe it as an english pub with a Chinese twist. We on the later part of the night yet staff accommodated us well and welcoming. Allowed to eat our food there even though they were on the verge of closing for the night. They engaged in small talk and safety and wellbeing for the night when we left. Highly recommended

If I could give it six stars, I would.

Everything about place is awful even the staff were rude towards me which sadly isn’t great. I was expecting friendly staff etc but nope got look like the people who work there.. also when I placed an order the looks I got from there was not pleasant at all sadly won’t be returning

The great place if you're looking for Chinese takeaway

Ordered a take away from here and it was delicious. Tried some Thai and Chinese dishes. Quick delivery and hot food. Would definitely recommend. Vegetarian dishes were really good.

food was nice and better than some of the Chinese food in taunton. the estimated delivery time was at least 30 minutes earlier to when it arrived making it at least over 1 hour since the order was placed.

Me and my partner ordered for the first time last night, kinda sceptic about trying a new Chinese restaurant for the first time so kinda nervous. Can definitely see will definitely order again. Food was nice and enjoyable. Delivery time was as expected and can't really help it but as far as the food goes. Definitely nice. Looking forward to ordering again :)

Love this restaurant. Have only ever had take away but it's always excellent and dishes are varied and all taste different. One of the best Chinese takeaways we've had.

app had told me my food was delivered, however it wasn’t and after ringing the restaurant 3 times they had told me ‘don’t worry it’s on the way’. service is awful. it is not open until 1700 unlike its advertised at 1530. i would never recommend to anybody. terrible terrible service

Food tasted great. But delivery time was longer than stated before ordering once ordered and then was late arriving.. don’t mind waiting but just be honest

From Walking into the place my first thought was OMG as the furnishings was basic. However the staff was helpful and friendly. My family was a bit slow on ordering their meal but staff was happy to wait. Once they ordered the food came to the table in no time. The food was hot and was of good quality. It cost me a bit but as Chinese Restaurants go the price for what we had was fair. I recommend everyone should try this Restaurant.

On arrival the place looks like a regular pub so you maybe put off. Once seated and food arrived it was very warm and a good amount for the price.

Ordered the meal early for a 18:50 delivery and didn’t receive the order untill 19:45 and was stone cold.

First time of using The Fortune Inn when on my doorstep. Put an order on their official website for collection as fed up of being ripped off by Just Eats/Deliveroo with cold food/missing items. Food ready as per their estimated timings and was excellent as well as hot. Good value for money too!

Food was nice and hot, chips not soggy and the house special omelette was really good

We Had 2 house special omelettes without onions and mushrooms- very tasty and a good size with chips. Would definitely have again

Currently on holiday and found this place by chance! Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time! Staff are amazing and so friendly and polite! Very honest with portion sizes too, me and my daughters were sharing, I ordered 2 of the same meal and they immediately said I’d just have one for now as it’s fairly big, we didn’t finish one portion because we had starters as well which are not little either! So glad we didn’t order the second! Hopefully will be able to fit a second visit in before we head back home 🤞🏼 the fact it’s in a boozer is just weird but it totally works brilliantly!

I was happily impressed! Driven past this pub many times, not actually realising it was also a Chinese restaurant. A viewing on TA and after reading an excellent review we decided to give it a whirl.. And so it came to pass.... we had dinner, and I have to say, it was totally lovely in every way, with each mouthful , it was utterly utterly yummie.. especially the crispy chillie beef which I unfortunately I had to share! Such a great shame .. The pub/come Chinese restaurant is totally unpretentious, with great service , lovely people, but best of all .... with excllent food... We had a lovely dinner and we will without doubt be back again...sooner rather than letter!! Thank you, thank you, thank you the best Chinese dinner in years Wishing you oodles of success - it was all great. See you again soon

I was absolutely surprised at how salty the food was. I couldn't eat it. I have always ordered from Fortune Inn. This was different. Really poor. Please address this.

We always use The Fortune Inn, however this evening the crispy chilli chicken didn’t have any sauce, which was a shame! 😢.

Chowmen was flavourless, egg was not fried with the rice just whacked in with plain rice and overall a lack of meat very dissapointing for the money I spent

Absolutely love this place. Owners are extremely friendly and their daughter is adorable! Always feel welcome everytime we come here. Food is also really nice and comes out really fast!!

I ordered and paid form a beef curry and got curry sauce. So upset!

The chips were cold and been cooked along time so was unbelievably dry ,, chicken curry was voile as the chopped chicken had been put in tub with cold curry sauce over the top and u could see water and same with beef curry to the curry sauce was thick because it was cold , egg fried rice was dry and tasteless and will not buy from there again absolutely voile

Friendly family run, great food not had a bad meal yet. We've ate in and taken away.

I ordered 1 x Thai 1 & 1 x Korean. Both dishes looked and tasted the same. Didn't seem to anything other than sweet Chinese dishes. Very disappointing.

Visited for a my birthday meal with friends and family. Food was good and service okay but atmosphere not really what we expected as just like eating a meal in a pub with people playing darts beside us.

I am not from Taunton, I am here on a weekend break and was recommended this restaurant, unfortunately when my food arrive it was stone cold. Shame.

Just had takeaway. Chicken sweetcorn soup was lovely chicken chowmein good but the duck crispy noodles was inedible. Duck was covered in rubbery skin which put me off the meal. I wouldn't even give it to my dog. Would not order from there again
