Tuesday pub quiz, now what an incredible night, food is the best Chinese I have had takeaway and now sitting in. Service is always amazing from the owners(including the tiny one), bar staff and quiz host 🍸

Enjoyed a delicious meal yesterday evening. All foodwas cooked to perfection

I ordered takeaway for collection on a Saturday early evening and made the order over an hour before collection time. On arrival I had to stand for over half an hour waiting for the food to come from the kitchen. The two chicken dishes were quite nice as was the chilli beef; the mixed veg was on a rather gloomy sauce and the fried noodles were very overpriced. When the food appeared I said to the staff that was too long to wait and their response was "we're busy". I said I probably would not be returning and the response was "fair enough". I'm not Impressed with the customer service which is a shame because the food isn't bad. Probably will now look for another takeaway in town.

Great food from a real family business.

My partner I had been out for a lovely event close by and although not local stumbled across this restaurant almost describe it as an english pub with a Chinese twist. We on the later part of the night yet staff accommodated us well and welcoming. Allowed to eat our food there even though they were on the verge of closing for the night. They engaged in small talk and safety and wellbeing for the night when we left. Highly recommended

If I could give it six stars, I would.

Everything about place is awful even the staff were rude towards me which sadly isn’t great. I was expecting friendly staff etc but nope got look like the people who work there.. also when I placed an order the looks I got from there was not pleasant at all sadly won’t be returning

Ordered a take away from here and it was delicious. Tried some Thai and Chinese dishes. Quick delivery and hot food. Would definitely recommend. Vegetarian dishes were really good.

Me and my partner ordered for the first time last night, kinda sceptic about trying a new Chinese restaurant for the first time so kinda nervous. Can definitely see will definitely order again. Food was nice and enjoyable. Delivery time was as expected and can't really help it but as far as the food goes. Definitely nice. Looking forward to ordering again :)

Love this restaurant. Have only ever had take away but it's always excellent and dishes are varied and all taste different. One of the best Chinese takeaways we've had.

On arrival the place looks like a regular pub so you maybe put off. Once seated and food arrived it was very warm and a good amount for the price.

From Walking into the place my first thought was OMG as the furnishings was basic. However the staff was helpful and friendly. My family was a bit slow on ordering their meal but staff was happy to wait. Once they ordered the food came to the table in no time. The food was hot and was of good quality. It cost me a bit but as Chinese Restaurants go the price for what we had was fair. I recommend everyone should try this Restaurant.

Lovely food, quickly prepared as uber eats cancelled so had to start from scratch. Really decent portions, loads left for tomorrow.

First time of using The Fortune Inn when on my doorstep. Put an order on their official website for collection as fed up of being ripped off by Just Eats/Deliveroo with cold food/missing items. Food ready as per their estimated timings and was excellent as well as hot. Good value for money too!

Currently on holiday and found this place by chance! Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time! Staff are amazing and so friendly and polite! Very honest with portion sizes too, me and my daughters were sharing, I ordered 2 of the same meal and they immediately said I’d just have one for now as it’s fairly big, we didn’t finish one portion because we had starters as well which are not little either! So glad we didn’t order the second! Hopefully will be able to fit a second visit in before we head back home 🤞🏼 the fact it’s in a boozer is just weird but it totally works brilliantly!

I was happily impressed! Driven past this pub many times, not actually realising it was also a Chinese restaurant. A viewing on TA and after reading an excellent review we decided to give it a whirl.. And so it came to pass.... we had dinner, and I have to say, it was totally lovely in every way, with each mouthful , it was utterly utterly yummie.. especially the crispy chillie beef which I unfortunately I had to share! Such a great shame .. The pub/come Chinese restaurant is totally unpretentious, with great service , lovely people, but best of all .... with excllent food... We had a lovely dinner and we will without doubt be back again...sooner rather than letter!! Visited for a my birthday meal with friends and family. Food was good and service okay but atmosphere not really what we expected as just like eating a meal in a pub with people playing darts beside us.

Just had takeaway. Chicken sweetcorn soup was lovely chicken chowmein good but the duck crispy noodles was inedible. Duck was covered in rubbery skin which put me off the meal. I wouldn't even give it to my dog. Would not order from there again

First time I've been to a pub run and catered by South East Asians. Food was Chinese/Korean. I asked for my beef to be extra spicy and coming from London I noticed the difference from what I'm used to and to what to what I got. I guess that's made to cater to local taste. That said, the meats and vegetables were cooked to all we ordered were cooked to perfection. The grilled dumplings were great and the crispy duck was so good that my slightly fastidious family were more than taken with this dish. Portion sizes was just right. Place was busy and this showed how popular the joint is. Owners were extremely friendly, attentive and on point. Would I go back?? Most definitely.

Relaxed English pub setting but with very good Chinese and/or Japanese-style food. An easy 10-15 minute walk from Taunton town centre, only 4 or 5 minutes from Taunton train station.

Now China China no longer offers Dine-In, we looked online for alternatives as we didn’t fancy a Chinese buffet. We have driven past this pub/restaurant many times but hadn’t ever tried it, until last night. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner couple and their cute little girl. ALL the food was the most flavoursome Chinese we have ever found in Taunton and everything was served promptly in a friendly and laid back manner. Service was great, efficient and the cost very reasonable. Don’t be put off by the location or the perhaps uninspiring exterior…..this is a ‘hidden gem’ and we will definitely be returning for future date nights and takeaways.

An excellent early dinner in a quint location. The Fortune Inn seems to be a pub first and a restaurant second in that there are no tables set for a meal. That said, the food is absolutely delicious, we had: Sesame prawn on toast - the best we have ever had anywhere! Crispy Duck Crispy Shredded Beef - again, the best we've had Sizzling Prawns with ginger and spring onions - the star of the dinner Singapore Noodles - this dish is enough to feed 4 people! Prawn crackers With a couple of pints of cider and a a couple of G&T's, the bill came to £78 (before service). The Inn is owned and run by Lin and Darcey who provide a warm welcome and a friendly service and the only slight criticism I would offer is that the service could be a bit more attentive if less time was spent on mobile phones! The waitress service is hilariously supplemented by Ellie, their little daughter, who insisted on sharing her bowl of grapes with us in return for prawn crackers. This is with our doubt the best Chinese meal we have had in Taunton and we will definitely be back.

Possibly the oddest dinner out I have had. I'm not sure if was the owner's cute toddler joining us. Or the dog running around chasing a ball. The service was good the food was okay and the decore is poor. It was memorable but not sure I will be going again.

Have only had two takeaways from this restaurant and have to say it is some of the freshest, most delicious and aromatic Chinese food I have ever eaten. Takes me 15 mins to get there immediately after placing my order and it's all done when I arrive. Not greasy and every dish had unique flavours and textures. Very, very good. On a par with the best in soho. I will go nowhere else now. Slightly odd mix of traditional dark wood pub with booths and Chinese restaurant, but why not? Seems popular. Everyone who has been there raves about it. The review spread says it all. Hard to believe they ever get less than 4 stars.

You expect a Chinese as part of a pub to not be as good as others, but this is easily the best Chinese food I've eaten! Salt and pepper ribs are so good.

The Singapore noodles are truly amazing. The king prawn curry is probably something to avoid, but then who would order a curry in a Chinese? The ambience needs some work and the bar needs tidying up, but to be honest, the Singapore noodles make it all great!

Great host and delicious food at a very reasonable price. Sizzling three seafood, korean fried chicken and duck and pancakes were especially delicious. Ever so friendly and welcoming host and daughter! Will definitely eat here again, looking forward to it ☺️

Our first visit to the Fortune Inn was not disappointing in any way. Great food, prompt polite service and very covid safe! Only open for take away service at present but restaurant quality nevertheless. Thank goodness we found this gem. (Two weeks prior to this we'd waited over 2 hrs for an delivery from another well known local Chinese restaurant only to be told that it hadn't even been cooked as 'lots of orders had come in after yours' and not an apology to be heard. Never again will we order from that one...we might as well have gone to China China to get that meal!). 5 stars for the Fortune Inn. Go there, you won't be disappointed!! January 2022 and just had another great meal from the Fortune Inn....still great quality and service at a really good price. Well done to the Fortune Inn team!! Thank you

An old Pub & Chinese Restaurant in one , what a brilliant combination, night out with family and friends and fantastic tasty chinese food. Before you go order your self a take away to take home. The wife & I popped in on our way home from Bingo but normally have it delivered as they have home delivery option as well, Lee sir the food was fantastic hot and delicious and very tasty sir & thank you for the chat while we waited for our food, which very only ten minutes , will be back for a sit in meal, I can recommend to my 63000 thousand readers this lovely place to have a meal or take away wether you pick it up your selves or have it delivered. If you visit Taunton please come here you will love it

Lovely host, genuinely good food and a great place with an original skittle alley. What’s not to like? Easy five stars! Came all the way from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 to get a decent Chinese and it didn’t disappoint!!! Will come back for sure!!!

Ordered a takeaway from fortune Inn supposed to be delivered at 7.30 got a phone call at 7.15 from the restaurant saying that they are cancelling the order if we couldn't pick it up. Not impressed won't ever order from them again.

The kids loved their chicken chow mein. One of the better ones they have had and it is their staple whenever we eat Chinese.

We tried take away from this restaurant for the first time few weeks ago. Thought it was not too bad. So we continue to use them. But we ran into problems with two recent orders. First issue was the man who took the debit payment was rude. He snatched away the machine as soon as payment was made. Not even a thank you for the purchase. Second issue was, cash payment was preferred and the portion was reduced by a third. We always order the same dishes so we know what to expect for the usual portion. It is not the cheapest by far compare to other take away. We were absolutely disappointed this time. Especially with the king prawn crispy noodle. There were hardly any noodle. The container is half empty. Not sure what went wrong there, we certainly won’t be ordering again.

Service was a bit of a let down as soon as we came in we were waiting to be seated then waiting for them to take our order masks wasn't worn. music was too loud when eating. Not only are the people who own and work at this pub absolutely lovely, but their food is also so delicious and their pub/outside seating area is well decorated. Hands down best Chinese around - good quality ingredients, seasoned perfectly and not too greasy. Will definitely be returning.

Awesome beer garden, super friendly service. I’ve been frequenting the fortune inn since pub gardens opened in April. The atmosphere is great in the beer garden with the wall murals and fairy lights. Fairly priced alcohol, much more comfortable spending money in an independent venue....

If you ever have the pleasure of visiting this establishment, you will regret not ordering the chicken wings... I promise.

My boyfriend introduced me to this place..and I swear to god I'm never going back to my previous place I use to order from. Food is always outstanding, it's our Friday night treat 😁

This is such a friendly, great place to visit especially as a family. The food is excellent and I would rate it as the best Chinese in Taunton. Ling is so welcoming and friendly. The revamped beer garden is stunning and such a great space....

Super food, I think it is the best iv tried in town for takeaway. The mixed starter was great and the crispy seaweed wow. Sweet and sour chicken balls were great. Will definitely use again. It's now our favourite.

The Chinese is at the back of a local pub but don't let that effect your decision to eat from here. I am not a local, but I make the journey here because their food is extremely tasty. There is lots of flavour and it is also cooked perfectly. Their service has also been great during the pandemic. They have taken every precaution to keep their customers safe. They also work extremely hard to keep their customers happy and will do their very best to meet your expectations. I do not know them personally but the team appear friendly and professional. My last visit here was New Years Eve. I ordered for collection on my way home from work and the order was on time. We ordered: duck, singapore noodles and rice, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, crispy chilli beef and kung po chicken. We also got free prawn crackers. The amount of food we ordered gave us 2 evening meals. After, we both decided that we needed to eat from this Chinese more often. Thankyou Fortune Inn for a great night in.

First time having food from here, have to say it was the best I have had for a long time. We had mini spring rolls, crispy beef ( that stayed crispy right to the finish of the meal) Chicken curry ( could have been a slightly less dense sauce) but very nice, egg fried rice which was white instead of the usual beige colour. Keep this and we are coming back. The one thing I would have liked on the menu would be beef and tomato.

Bit of a strange concept. A pub with a chinese restaurant,or is it a Chinese restaurant trying to be a pub. The staff were friendly enough. The service slighty hit and miss, the food was just average for Taunton nothing to rant about. Would i return who knows maybe maybe not.
