Best chinese in romford really hope they reopen

Beautiful local Chinese, fairly priced and food always roasting hot and on time!

We ordered takeaway. Delivery time was ok but the food was terrible. Chicken chow mein had absolutely no flavouring at all and only had about ten strips of chicken that were so white it obviously hadn’t been cooked with the noodles and looked like it had come straight out of a Tesco packet as it was just laying on top of the noodles. Very disappointed as the food had been good in the past

Our local Chinese which never disappoints. Fairly priced (taking into consideration the alternatives in the area) Consistent food in which different dishes taste as they should, as opposed to places where several dishes taste the same. Delivery times when ordering direct are reasonably estimated and always fall within the specified times given. Staff are always friendly and polite. I have had experiences where 3rd party delivery partners have shown poor service, but the restaurant has always stepped in and picked up the slack.

Amazing food and I am really fussy with my chinese.

Best Chinese in the area. Ordered a couple times when I’m in the area and has always impressed. My go-to Chinese here, always giving generous portion sizes with reasonable prices. Never have to wait long, very prompt. Can’t fault it.

We had take away beef chow main. The noodle's mixed the old and a fresh over cooked grease horrible never ever

The worst service ever telling me I can’t order if I don’t come downstairs to pick up my order when I have a new born at home and other kids as I have ordered before from there this lady should fix her attitude if they want any customers that’s why is called delivering to the door not for me to come down to pick it up if I live in a flat and still didn’t take my order no more ordering from there from know on and fix ur attitude girl cause u won’t get customers like that should be thankful ur at least getting money and orders for u to get paid

The Fortune House was always our go-to chinese take-away for many years. Then it burnt down and we had to find another (The Great Wall, Gidea Park was similar taste wise). When it re-opened we went back and all was good in the world. However, the last two deliveries we had, the sweet and sour sauce was aweful! A sort of overpowering liquorice/aniseed (star anise?) flavour that ruined all the sweet and sour dishes and those that use that sauce as a base (Kung Po, Crispy Chillie Beef etc). Sorry, won't be coming back until that sauce is returned to it's original receipe.

No question it’s defiantly the best Chinese takeaway in the area, all of these bad reviews must have had a one off bad experience because trust me when I say it’s the best and I’m so fussy, I have tried all of the Chineses in the area and this beats them all hands down, everything is done fresh and with attention to detail and that’s so nice as a lot of places just chuck it all together, I’d say the prices are in line with others but they are not overpriced, the lady who answers the phone has got to be one of the most polite and helpful person ever, she’s so accommodating and understanding and this alone is great, all in all I’d give it 11 stars, I cannot fault it in anyway, keep up the amazing work guys and Thankyou !!

Our go-to for Chinese food in Romford. Always on time, the food is always piping hot and delicious! Staff are super friendly too. Recommend the tofu blackbean 🤌🏼

Passing here and thought ide try , waste of money , £25 in the bin , dryest ribs ever , claws was filth chowmein was not so special , actually filth , it wouldn't surprise me if this sort of place puts people in hospital it was filth , AVOID AVOID

Food rotten, driver got lost food cold. No complimentary prawn crackers despite £16 order, £3 to come two streets. Joke won’t be back £16 down the drain, over priced aswell for what we got

This place has gone down hill Soup crab meat sugar lumps and sweet Chop suey floating in water and dirty oil with it the tofu was tastless and watery sauce They used to be lovely I phoned and spoke to a lovely lady who asked him what could happen He responded one dish free if not happy I shouldn't waste my money and go elsewere Last time I ordered not us good but getting drastically worse don't waste your money I

This is one of the best Chinese takeaways in Romford. You will have to order an hour before you’re hungry or when you’d like to sit down for a meal, as the delivery service does take up to 1 hour or just over. However, the quality and taste of the food is stunning!

This is our regular Chinese now. We have been ordering from them for over 6 months and haven't had a bad meal, it's always hot and bang on. Highly recommend.

Food is good most of the time but they have started charging for delivery so not great I will order but will have to collect in future

ordered a meal last night - chicken balls were greasy and horrid beef chop suey - just brown looking water with some slices of dry tough beef - spare ribs were just bits of bones - no meat absolutely disgusting i would not even give it to the dog never again lhoad

I'm surprised at the negative ratings here. I tried 10 Chinese restaurants and this is my chosen. Ordered from here via just eat probably 20times and I will continue. Give these guys a try

We just ordered from here as our usual Chinese takeaway was closed tonight and OMG it was absolutely disgusting. I'm not comparing it to our 1st choice as I will eat anything and am not usually fussy, but I ordered schezuan chicken and it literally tasted like it had been in the back of a freezer for years and brought out and reheated. I was honestly almost sick. I wish I could show this dish to someone. It was so off its unbelievable. It could have given me poisoning to be honest. Avoid this place its seriously bad

The reviews don’t do this restaurant justice. I have tried multiple Chinese in the area and this has to be the second best. Food was delicious, never written a review before but had to because the review for this restaurant were poor, when it’s actually great!

We had a1/4 duck I think it was a sparrow it was so small , it said 10 pancakes we only got 6 I think it was because we only had a sparrow ,if we would have had 10 we would have had nothing to put into them. When we ordered said 35 minutes to pick up called to pick up waited 15 more minutes, if when ordering they said 45/50 minutes that’s when you go to pick a few minutes in shop ok but not 15 .sometimes when you phone they only say 15 minutes.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Ordered food, paid for it, waited for two hours. Food never arrived. Did not answer phone and did not reply to emails. Wasted money and time.

Just ordered food and got to say one of the worst takeaways I have ever had, ribs greasy and fatty, prawn toast , no prawn , chicken curry really unsure what was in it but just tasted like cornflour with pink chicken.

Had been using this takeaway for a few years and then it burned down and was closed for ages. Could not find another Chinese that delivered in local area that compared (ended up using The Great Wall in Gidea Park for comparable quality/taste, but they don't deliver). They re-opened and the ordering was great with new website however, although the food was of similar quality to before it was way too salty, added to this we didn't get the free sides that ordering over £22 attracted. I raised this with the staff and this has now been addressed (new chef apparently), our last two orders have been exactly what we have come to expect. We quite regularly do price comparisons with other local Chinese takeaways but always end up ordering (even with 'promotions' from the delivery companies) from Fortune House so for quality + price + free 2 mile delivery I highly recommend.

The ribs I ordered is very dry, not fresh at all, I felt sick after having the food from this take-away shop, people should avoid this place.

Over 2 hour wait multiple calls and food turned up cold/ tasteless best part was putting in the bin never ordering again

We waited 1 hour and 45 mins , so I phoned up and asked where has our meal got to , she said he’s coming and then told me thay would knock of 20% from our next delivery , really don’t think so , so I said just leave it as it’s a disgrace , won’t be useing these again terrible service

Never read the reviews on here before ordering, and I'm glad I didn't. The food was absolutely delicious and arrived on time. This will definitely be my new go to Chinese in future.

Honestly vile, threw away 2/3rds of the order. Don't think the oil on the fryer has ever been changed, fried tofu was inedible and tasted extremely stale. Bbq sauce tastes like pure salt, sweet and sour tastes purely of sugar. Only positive was delivery was prompt but food wasn't hot. Pretty sure I'll get food poisoning from this place - 0/10 - avoid.

Ordered via Justeat and food never arrived. I called the place and said they received the order but for some reason “it has been moved” when the order has gone through the kitchen and “disappeared from the order list.” Dodgy explanation. Only god knows what happened. Never ordering again.

Terrible! A carton of spare ribs and not a rib in site. Just a box full of the little rib end cartilage bits. Unacceptable!

This is the second time we've used the fortune house since they reopened both times the food has been very nice and arrived on time . the only complaint was that the barbeque cause was very salty this time on our first visit I would say it was the best Chinese barbeque we've ever had

Been searching for a new Chinese seeing as my favourite closed down to a further location 😔 Ordered special fried rice from here and the chicken tasted like it was thrown in at the end. Was very dry and lacked flavour and was hard to finish. Ordered the same dish again from there but I asked it to be spicy to see if it would change the taste and make it better but the special fried rice was oversaturated with chilli oil and quite frankly made it taste worse. Disappointed because I feel I’ve wasted my money twice at the same place. Definitely won’t be ordering from there ever again. So alas.... my journey to find a great Chinese takeaway continues.

Recommend a house chow mein lovely food good delivery

Shredded smoked chicken - 1 mouthful tasted like a bag of brown sugar so disgusting phoned up to ask what was in it an got told it’s not there problem! After that remark it pi##ed me off told em I’ll go there n let customers know how they treat you they kept refusing refund but after 2 hours sent delivery driver to me with my money ! Absolutely horrible attitude n food !!

That is the most amazing take away Chinese food I ever came across! I’m so happy they are up and running again as I was missing their lovely food and customer service so much! I have just had some yummy seafood chowmein, and it was delicious! I had the same thing last week but I tweaked a little as I’m trying to be healthy, and they did exactly how I want it! Guess what?! The taste was still amazing! Please trust me you’ll not be disappointed the food there is so delicious in whatever you asked for! And one final thing the lady that takes your order is so extremely polite!

Have tried twice since this takeaway has re opened. Food is so much better now and is now my first choice of Chinese takeaways in North Street. Long may the excellent standard of take away continue. Fantastic chilli beef imo.

Great food staff very polite and helpful can't understand comments regarding swearing as this takeaway are very good and understanding, English lady answers the phone most of the time. I normally use Just Eat.

This food is like restaurant quality. Every time I order it's hot and superb food. It takes a while at times, but in the whole scheme of things; it is definitely worth the wait!

Ordered food at 6:20 said food would be with us by 7:20 didnt get food till 8:20. Rung up countless of times only to be spoken to rudely by member of staff swearing at me then hanging up. When we got the food came all cold and to be honest was below average not worth the money tried to make a complaint to the manager and she offered a £2 refund from a £25 order utter disgrace and would advise people not to use this company !!!!

What an abismal service! Disgusting management, lack of people skills, rude staff who think it is okay to swear and hang up on you! Waited two hours to receive food which was cold, dry and not worth the money!!! Called to ask for a refund offered me £2.50!! Disgusting customer service! Will never ever use again! Steer clear!!!!!

waited well over the hour for my delivery after been told 45min.....phoned to find out where my delivery was and was told he left 10-15mins ago....the girl on phone was apologetic...chinese just warm by the time i got it on my plate....food was nice after i microwaved it....

I order from the Fortune House on a regular basis. The food is always hot when it arrives, really good quality and they have a wide variety for vegetarians as well which is fantastic!!

been having take away from here for 25yrs, so tried it when it was taken over but the curry was like dish water and the chicken was not chicken, we tried it for 2nd time but still the same. will never again order from here.

There are very few decent chinese takeaways in the area but Fortune has never disappointed. Decent food and fast delivery.

Waited over an hour and 20 minutes for food to arrive when the shop is only down the road from us and when it did arrive the rice was missing instead we got 2 portions of chow mein. When we phoned again to complain the lady on the phone said to keep the chow mein and she would give us 2 portions of rice for free next time. well we got our rice after I went to the shop to pick it up myself as to wait for delivery would be another 30 minutes i will not order from there again not happy
