Fortune Cookie Chinese Takeaway Eatery in Hambleton

It was a take away we got spent £37 and to be honest we binned it. 2 soups 1 was chicken noodle soup and I have never ever seen noodle soup white in colour and it tasted awful, chicken chow mein was disgusting and husband had a curry it was revolting, didn't phone to complain but just won't go back again. Just a total waste of money, no wonder the restraint was empty.

Missing items on the order. Prawn crackers were soft. Seemed like it all needed extra cooking and was lacking in flavour. Worst Chinese we have had which was very disappointing.

The fortune cookie was really fantastic the first couple of times we ordered from there but it has drastically gone downhill judging by our last two orders … especially this time as the duck had slimy soggy skin in the duck with black bean. The spicy chow main had literally no flavour and the beef was chewy and stringy , the prawn crackers just tasted of grease and one of the chips had a big piece of blue/grey fluff stuck on it … needless to say we will not be eating from there again .

Terrible, the duck spring rolls didn't have a reasonable of duck I think they were from Iceland the prawn crackers tasted of old oil when you go in for collection all you can hear is the microwave ping on defrost mode

Having had a couple of disappointing meals from here, I decided to give it another try cos I just didn't fancy anything else. The food was amazing, Pork Vermicelli and Pork Cantonese style were both very good and the Pork dumplings were excellent too. More than enough for two meals and leftovers for the next day. Chips are ok when they're fresh. Good value all round for the quality, I'll definitely be going here more often. Highly recommend you pick your order up and don't get delivery though.

incredibly greasy and tasted awful.

The quality of the food was disappointing this time. We have ordered many times before but today it was bland, only 1 of the 5 different dishes was really flavourful. Maybe the chef was having a night off!. Not sure whether we will order again

Sadly the curry and sweet and sour didn't taste great and we have been left with heartburn. It wasn't that warm either.

Egg for young was tasteless and cold , chips hard and undercooked , rice cold and stodgy had to call for prawn crackers to be delivered and by the time arrived food was in the bin ! Very disappointed.

Delivery was 1hr45minutes. Kept changing the expected delivery time. Food was “ok” but we didn’t enjoy it as it was so late.

Staying at a friend’s so thought I’d try this Chinese….Food was mediocre. King prawn starter wasn’t worth £7 and was burnt….driver complained he had spent £10 fuel finding the house….its 10 minutes up the road… sadly I wouldn’t order again :(

Might have been nice when it was cooked, but over an hour late, two phone calls meant dried up and cold food. I won't use again.

We tried this place for the first time today, 3.11.23, and it was dreadful, nothing positive to say about the food at all and the place looked filthy.

Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our Chinese. We spent £30 on our food and the only part we ate and enjoyed was the prawn crackers. The sweet and sour tasted of just ketchup. The rice had no flavour. The salt and pepper chips had no seasoning on the them and was soggy. The spring rolls had no vegetables in them it was just pastry and the chicken balls was just mush inside. £30 spent and still hungry the food was un edible in our opinion.

I wish I’d listened to the other reviews, absolute disgusting excuse for food.

Absolutely awful food and the worst Chinese food I have ever had - ended up throwing 95% away! Cucumber in big thick chunks, not sliced for the pancakes and the duck was fatty, grisly and in big chunks, not shredded! There was hardly any duck at all in the Cantonese duck and was mainly sauce and onions! What duck in there was again fatty and in lumps! What a waste of £24 for 2 dishes! I’m not surprised it was delivered early, other customers have probably experieSafe to say I won't be returning!

The Salt & Pepper Squid was COLD, as in, just taken out of the fridge COLD. I stated this on the app after delivery and accepted a refund... which NEVER happened. WILL NOT BE USING AGAIN!!!!!!!

The food was delicious as usual. I was given a 20 min time slot, but the delivery was actually 55 mins after earliest time given.

Food was lovely and portion sizes are good, the only negative was the sweet and sour sauce it was way too vinegar (luckily in a tub!) so didn't use!

Chicken teriyaki is just chicken with a sauce, and it is not teriyaki. Absolute waste of money, didn't eat it because I didn't even know what it was.

As always a great place to order from. Tasted great and the prawn toast is unreal. Delivery driver was in great form as always too!

Not much past the time on a Saturday night so not worried about that. They didn't have the large spring rolls so I went for the mini ones but unfortunately they were only aired and not much filling so bit tasteless

Food was an hour late, freezing cold when it arrived and noodles had too much pepper in.

The restaurant called us to let us know of the delay. The food was nevertheless hot when it reached us. Overall, pleased with the quality of the food.

Ordered and collected whilst on holiday was ready early. Very full menu and we had a big variety all very tasty. This is a good Chinese takeaway.

Food was terrible we ordered from recommendation but was all watery and we got the chicken and king prawn curry but they sent curry with prawns and peppers not one bit of chicken which was disappointing as my daughter only has the bits of chicken with curry sauce

First time ordering from here and never again, the chicken was grey and slimy , the chips looked as though they had been cooked and cooked again they were just crispy and hollow and full of grease and the curry sauce was like water with no flavour, the whole thing got scraped in to the bin

This was the worst Chinese I’ve had! Do not waste your money! We ordered 6 food items, 2 of which were missing! The Szechwan beef was totally tasteless and included a random ball of some fatty slimy substance that was definitely not going to be eaten! Sweet and Sour had the sour but no sweet! And the BBQ ribs tasted more like Hoisin! For a meal that cost £38 it was appalling just don’t waste your money!!! The driver was lovely tho and did apologies for the delay in the food!

We pre-ordered the meal at 1750 for delivery at 2030 yet it was still 25 mins late. This is our second order in a row where it has been very late. However the food is excellent!

Massively disappointed by this food. Teriyaki prawns was 5 over cooked prawns. The sauce tasted of gravy. Salt & pepper chips totally no taste. Spring rolls dry. Paid £20 didn’t feed 2 people. The whole thing was terrible. Won’t use ever again.

If you choose this Chinese you won’t be very fortunate! Salt and pepper chicken was not crispy at all, the sauces are way too runny and lack an enormous amount of flavour. I felt as if I was eating thick boiled water.

It arrived early which was great as we were getting Hungary perfect

First time from here and was nice food. Batter on the Thai chilli chicken wasn’t as crispy as I normally like But it tasted nice . The pork rice was lush 😋😋 and the owner (i presume) was very polite end friendly , delivery quite prompt. Will eat from here again .

Appalling service. Ordered at 5.30pm and didn't arrive until 8pm. When the food finally arrived it was missing an item. The delivery driver also informed us our order was put the back of the queue and not cooked in the order it comes through in. Meaning our order was put right to the back of the queue when it shouldn't have been. Most likely be because its further away from the takeaway than the other orders. However when calling them to ask where the food was the takeaway lied to us and told us it was with the delivery driver when it hadn't even been cooked yet. Oh, also this is the third time we have ordered and its been late and missing items off our order. Will not be ordering again. What a waste of money and abysmal service.

Wad told it would be delivered at 5.10 it was then changed to 530 and it didn't arrive until 550. It wasn't that hot and generally not nice we've used this take away before and loved it but tonight we couldn't even eat it
