There is no seating inside but there are benches outside. The street is pedestrian so it is quiet (except for the pigeons). The counter does not offer a large quantity of sweet and savory products but everything it offers is absolutely super. You can't miss the bombolone filled with cream and blueberries or the almond croissant.

Let’s start by saying the staff are very nice and clearly passionate. Coffee is excellent. The baked goods are good (but, whisper it, not great). Style over substance? Maybe. Quite expensive. We got something so big, with so much cream, it was a nightmare to eat standing up (more on this later!). The location is simple, and relatively easy to find. They have no toilets, so combined with a long wait, you should be prepared for a bit of an ordeal. You buy and walk away, leaving you with the only option of a long wooden bench or to keep walking until you find something more suitable.

I had been hearing a lot about this place so I took my best friend on a food tour experience! The moment we stepped in we encountered a long queue, which honestly made the experience even more exciting :) Service was fast too! We got four pastries and exchanged thoughts on it while eating it outside the place, they have a bench area that at least now that is spring, is exactly what we needed! Winner: Danish Pizza. THE CRUST. You can tell it has been mastered. I am not the best with names but we got the pistachio bun as well— the fact that the bun has sugar too makes it sweeter than the necessary to our liking, the inside foam was absolutely delicious, loved how neutral it feels, but the strawberry twist interrupts how cohesive it feels, wished it would have been replaced by the pistachio on top! the second sweet pastry is great too! i recommend splitting in two and eating it from the inside out so you can have a better experience, if you start eating it from the outside there is a chunk of plain bread you have to initially go through and makes the experience confusing and normal. The salt on the bread was on point, it makes it much more exciting. The chicken sandwich was a bit normal and pointing towards disappointment given that at moments feels a bit dry, and it feel very straightforward, would love if there was an additional sauce you could pair it with!

As per usual, much overhyped on social media. Beignets are okay, a bit like a brioche bun with chantilly cream.. certainly not the best thing in london as has been sold to me online. Feta and spinach was very meh - pastry tad bit overdone. no comparison to the real thing from your Turkish/greek bakery.. I’d suggest a hike over to N London’s green lanes rather than trust the dull tastebuds of instagram idols Central london prices I guess thats to be expected Nice vibe tucked away in a mews in Bloomsbury. Casual seating outside.

I got the black forest biegnet which was quite good, had thick layer of cream with cherries and a bit of chocolate. Slightly on the sweet side because of the sugar coat on the outside (which i personally do not enjoy). However, felt that other than the biegnet, there aren't many sweet options that I personally felt were interesting enough to order (but definitely subject to individual preferences)

Got the pistachio beignet which was pretty good, it was lightly dipped in pistachio cream on top which was nice but also gone in one bite (a shame considering this was the main selling point). The main flavour actually came from the raspberry jam which wasn’t in the description. Rose cream filling was not really giving much other than very sweet, felt a bit like I was eating a glorified jam donut. For the price point I doubt I would face the queue again. Black tea with bergamot was nice though!

Large queues and no organisation of how to manage the queue to speed up the service. Maybe sell the pastries straight out of the bakery for people who only want bakery items and sell coffee out of the shop front. The beignet and maple pear danish was delicious but not worth queueing for 40mins. Not a knock on the the quality of the bakery or price.

Long queue (thanks Instagram) but convenient pub to keep you hydrated whilst you wait! Well worth the short wait though. I was surprised not to see anything vegan given the wide selection and their typical customer so I asked the man behind the counter whether they had anything, and he rolled his eyes and smirked and said, ‘we did’. Sorry I’m not available to queue at a vibey bakery mid-morning on a Wednesday (I didn’t know this was a TikTok place until someone told me - but do you want those people to be your only customers?). Clearly the social media pipeline is strong right now, but once it dries up you’ll have to be polite/friendly to customers if you want them to come back. My friend had one of their beignets and said he immediately regretted it.

The food is great & the coffee delicious. Staff were friendly with a ready smile. The place shuts really early 2.30pm & certain stuff gets served at specific times (i.e. beignet at 11am) and they can run out of stock depending on demand (pistachio & rose cream beignets ran out by 1.30pm when we visited). There are a few benches outside but seating is quite limited. The venue is small with not much room round the counter. But it was worth the visit. 4 cakes & 2 coffees ~£32. Cakes are quite filling!

The first time we went, we had the Almond Croissant and the chocolate & custard Pain Suisse since we went too early to have a beignet. Both were very delicious - very crispy, very tasty, right amount of filling. Two days later we went there again at 11am (Beignet time) and ate a Pistachio and Rose Cream Beignet. I was hesitant at first because of the rose cream, thinking it would overpower the pistachio flavour, but it was just a slight hint of rose in the cream and the beignet was very good.

Had the cinnamon bun and sausage roll. Cinnamon bun was fine, a little dry but not too sweet. The pastry of the sausage roll was nice and crispy. The inside was a still pink which looked undercooked to me, so I asked for a new one. Staff assured me it was cooked - I googled it later and seems this is true (apparently something to do with preservatives). At the time, I wasn't sure but was offered to take something else, so I had the egg mayo and sun-dried tomato roll instead. The egg mayo roll was average, lots of mayo, so you couldn't taste the sun-dried tomatoes much Overall the food is fine, but don't quite get the hype. It might also be helping having a line about the sausage roll being pink inside, on the card somewhere. The staff's reaction seemed like I wasn't the first person to ask for a refund / exchange!

Was here today specifically for their Beignet, but ended up liking the fermented chocolate brownie a lot more! Despite being mid week there was a long queue although I reached at 11.05 (Beignets are brought out at 11 am!). Managed to get the Beignet for the day - Tiramisu. While the cream filling was light, airy and not to sweet, the donut (outer layer) was a bit stretchy. Was not sure if it was worth the hype. But I absolutely loved their fermented chocolate brownie - rich, dense and absolutely decadent! 😃 The staff is friendly, service is quick, there are a few benches outside to sit but since it's not a covered seating space, there were a few pigeons around. There is always a queue outside here with people taking pictures.. so one day I gave it a try. It was really a let down in many ways. Firstly the queue wasn't that long when I went but I found it very slow when they were taking orders.. in other words, not trying to work down the queue as fast as possible. Secondly, the staff were a little abrupt when it came to wanting us to move out of the way to get their trolley of food in. We understand the size of the venue is small, but it could have been approached in a friendlier way. And lastly and most importantly, the taste of the pistachio beignet we got was nothing to write home about. It looks a lot better than it tasted. Hardly and pistachio flavour except for the top layer. And the beignet itself felt dry and not moreish. For the high price tag per cake I didn't find it worth it.

The bun itself had a very strange taste to it, almost as though it had some sort of extract with not enough sugar to balance it out making it taste oddly bitter. I ate around it as best as I could, as the filling was ok, but nothing groundbreaking. Weirdly bland. an extremely popular place online, but nothing to write home about, in my opinion; very mediocre. i visited about an hour before their closing time on a wednesday, and there were only two people in the queue ahead of me, which was a pleasant surprise. the seating available was a couple of benches patrolled by the many pigeons, and a fair amount was unoccupied. the savoury pastry selection was nearly entirely sold out, yet most sweet options were still stocked, which, too, is remarkable. ordered two — a guinness cake and a black forest beignet. the first was the better one of the above: the cream was nothing special, but the base was delicious and appropriately moist; i imagine their “fermented chocolate brownies” are delightful. the beignet, on the contrary, was more disappointing than anything. the dough itself was dry, and the cream was oddly plain even with the addition of all the toppings. the flake chocolate was the nicest part. ultimately, the price is way above the quality for me. the baked goods are pretty, but that’s about as far as it goes

I could happily give 0 if I can. This is a very very overrated, overpriced and and overhyped place on social media. It's a tourist trap so I'd highly recommend you find a local bakery instead. The sandwiches are rock hard, the sweets are not special at all. It looks good on camera and that's it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was my second visit to Fortitude Bakehouse, and it definitely won't be my last. The fermented chocolate brownie was rich, fudgy, and perfectly balanced – one of the best brownies I've ever had. The pistachio crocket was something special – fluffy, nutty, and full of flavour. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with great coffee to match. A must-visit hidden gem in London!

One of the most famous London baked goods.. The pastries are fluffy and light... Their most famous cinnamon cinnamon... Come early, the line is light... There are no indoor sessions... Staff are nice... Prices are high... The food is delicious...

I give a 2 star as the beignet (which they are famous for) was soo soo underwhelming. The cream bread jam just taste like a cheap donut/cake. It looks appealing but the taste doesn’t match. Honestly don’t understand the hype for this. I strongly recommend getting a different item! I also tried the pizza pastry which was pretty decent. Not sure if it’s worth the price & queue. For 2 items I paid over 12 quid.

The most overrated bakery in London. I had the banana and chocolate stourbread. It was nice but nothing special having had far better at other independent bakeries over the years. At almost £5 it was overpriced given the portion size even when considering the Bloomsbury location (I have lived in London for a decade so understand the cost of similar products) Also very few savoury options with no sausage rolls and few sandwich choices. The closing of the left hand size door also made it more congested than it needed to be. This is one of these instances when social media presents somewhere as being far better than it actually is. That said, it is far from being bad.

I'm afraid this was a huge miss for me. I got the morning bun with custard and unfortunately I hated it. My friends that were with me tried it as well and none liked it. Some of the other things the got were okay, but nothing really amazed us. Pretty mediocre, and also a huge amount of pigeons outside the shop trying to attack you. Not worth it for me.

This place is quite popular on social media. There are seats inside, but they’re not very suitable for eating in. There’s also outdoor seating, but there were so many pigeons, which was a bit of a hassle for me. I ordered an Americano and one of the most popular bakery items (can’t remember the name), but after trying it, the taste wasn’t really to my preference. Anyway, the coffee was good.

Unfortunately there wasn't much choice on the day of our visit, but the chocolate crossaints tasted fantastic. Price-performance fits London standards. Definitely worth a visit

Terrible taste and nothing special. They put cream on donut which is ridiculous taste. I'm very disappointed and no reason found people in the queue. Better improve taste and collection.

I spent some time at this café during my stay in London, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots in the city. The coffee is high quality, rich, smooth. The space itself is beautifully crafted, with a cozy atmosphere. The service isn’t the most welcoming, but that’s pretty standard for London—so don’t expect much on that front. Still, the quality of the coffee and the overall vibe more than make up for it.

Breakfast at Franx, a cafe near Tottenham court road. To start off the buttered toast was so satisfying. I could not have or even done better. It was lovely and soft in the middle soaked with deliciously melted salted butter. Definitely the simple pleasures in life. It is so difficult to get good buttered toasts these days.
