I always like to try out something new when I visit London and one of my friends recommended I try out this bakery. I visited twice, once on Saturday morning where the queue was quite long so be prepared to wait and the other time on a Tuesday morning when I was able to be served straight away. First visit I had the ham and cheese pastry which was huge and full of proper bits of thick cut ham. For my second visit I had a cinnamon sticky bun which was okay. You do get a Bluelight discount so that could save you a bit of money. The only worrying thing was on Saturday whilst in the queue I saw flies land on the jam in one of the cakes so that was a bit off putting hence I went for the savoury option.

***disclaimer i didn’t get the viral beignet*** queued which wasn’t unexpected as i’d literally been recommended this place on timeout an hour prior… i had a pizza and it was brimming with flavour and so layered but it was so so oily even after a coffee it lingered - not the best.

I’m very disappointed. Waste of time and money. I bought a Beignet and a Hand pie Both were greasy. ・Beignet The filling didn’t have taste just cream, it contained jam but very little. ・Hand pie It had too much oils. I used seven pieces of kitchen paper to remove oil. However It still had much oil, it’s worse than fried chicken. I had headache after eating them. I don’t know why this bakery so popular. Staffs were very kind.

All spoiled by the stupidly high prices. The buns etc are mostly pretty good - but not that good. This place is not what a bakery should be. But some folk will actually queue up (and they have long queues) to be overcharged! Especially here. So they have a business 😆

I came all the way from the North and I was looking forward to trying this popular bakery but I was disappointed. I arrived at 11:50 waited in the queue for 25 mins then found out almost everything had gone and the fresh one was not ready.. during lunch time...so I kind of just bought what was left. And to add, not all the tags would say what the flavour was or what was in it and because it was so rushed, you don't get the chance to ask and kind of just make a guess. I bought quite a few but then found out the flavours were the same in the majority - berries and cardamom. Unfortunately, I personally didn't like cardamom and the taste of it was pretty strong overpowder the others, the bread was not soft enough... If the tags can be more informative with a little more detail instead of just saying for ex. Morning bun / Scone etc.. I could have made a better choice.

I arrived at the Bakehouse at 1pm on the Monday afternoon and had to wait 30 minutes in the queue to order. I was not expecting such a long wait! Unfortunately, by the time it was my turn the offer was very limited and the pastry that I wanted to try was already sold out. So I would recommend arriving earlier in the morning. Unfortunately there is no sitting inside, just some benches outside on the street, so I would recommend to have your sweet treats as a takeaway and go to the nearest square/ park for more comfortable experience. However the pastries themselves are delicious. I tried a scone with raspberry jam and a custard danish with strawberries and pistachios. And both of them were amazing!

I stayed in the back of Fortitude for two weeks in London, so I passed by the store every day. Every time I went to Fortitude during business hours, there was always a line of people, and I was surprised at how popular it was. The staff was very nice and handled the small store efficiently. Many customers are looking for the Beignet, which is what we call maritozzo, which is filled with cream. The service was attentive and attentive even during busy times, such as announcing to people in line how long it would take for the beignets to be ready and prioritizing those who wanted to purchase something other than beignets. Fortitude Bakehouse is a charming little bakery in London with a lot to offer. They have a fantastic concept, focusing on high-quality, seasonal ingredients and unique flavor combinations. The presentation is also top-notch, with everything looking beautifully crafted and delicious. However, there are a few drawbacks that prevent me from giving them a perfect score. Firstly, the bakery is quite small, which can make it feel cramped and uncomfortable, especially during peak hours. Additionally, there is no seating area, so you can't enjoy your treats on-site. Finally, the popularity of the bakery often leads to long lines and wait times. Despite these drawbacks, I still enjoyed my experience at Fortitude Bakehouse. The food is undeniably delicious, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a quick bite or a special treat, I would recommend giving them a try. Just be prepared to deal with the crowds and the lack of seating. Overall, I would recommend Fortitude Bakehouse to anyone looking for a delicious and unique bakery experience. Just be aware of the potential drawbacks before you go.

We went there quite late in the day so the items on offer were quite limited but managed to find two good looking items. As much as I’d wanted to like these, I had to say the visuals were better than the taste unfortunately.. The beignet was extremely dry and the cream felt over whipped and on the verge of butter. The other pastry (puff pastry) was soggy and dense and was not great. Probably the quality is better if you go there earlier in the day when they are fresh, but if you do sell them till the end of the day, there needs to be a little more thought on the quality at the end of the day as people will definitely have different perceptions/experiences of the items.

Bought two desserts as per photos and iced coffee good tasting and the doughnut was so light and nit greasy at all. Despite being a smallish shop is well staffed I would say but I think a lot of tourists visit so I could see some communication difficulties which slows down service, not a complaint just an observation. I've had some wonderfully delicious things (like beignets or danish pastries) and things I wouldn't come back for (like the brioche sandwiches and topped focaccias). I generally prefer the sweet over the savoury and think the sandwiches need a bit of a rethink. The sky-high topped focaccias and sandwiches are not really built for on-the-go consumption and make a messy meal (why not just fill the foccacias?). Toppings and fillings can be bland or unusual flavour combinations, and I also found the brioche buns rather heavy. Will keep coming back for the sweet stuff though!

I tried some of my friend’s Patatas Bravas focaccia, which I absolutely love the concept of. 4* (or lower) reviews on this place are written by fussy and insufferable people. This place sells phenomenal pastries at a good price. Their (apple and custard) hand pie was genuinely the best pastry I had. So flakey, sweet, and the filling was just the right amount and just perfect all over. I dont even like apples. I also had the honey cream and apricot jam scone. All scone lovers, I recommend this. They give you two scones with loads of cream and jam. Good quality and tasty jam, unsure if its homemade but I'd put my money on it. My only qualm is that they stack the scones with the cream and jam between, so when you press down everything falls out and you're kind of scrambling to have a bite of scone with the condiments. Its also quite large, I'd rather they sell one scone with toppings at a slightly lower price. They werent too busy but there could be a line when they're busy. Loads of options, they even had a tray of scones at the side because they made so many things and didnt have enough space that day. Good coffee options and interesting tea options, they give you cutlery at the area as well. Staff were so friendly and helpful despite being quite hectic. Loved that you can see everyone working and making more behind. 1000% will come back again and stuff myself. Unsure about vegan and gluten free options, they were quite busy so I didnt ask much.

Very nice place feel the vibe of people want to buy something fresh and tasty . I got some bun with cream not big fan of it . And then I got I think the chocolate cinnamon bun and this is a killer ! So good so fresh and tasty I could have it every day . Amazing bakery ! Well done .

Nothin special. DRIEST Cinnabon I’ve ever had. Had the chocolate one . Don’t recommend. Also got lamb sausage pastry thing . Very average . Not worth the price

To be honest, I don’t really understand the hype at all. I had the almond bear claw and the coconut almond bun. The bear claw had almost no taste and very little frangipane. The bun was literally dripping with oil, and I felt sick halfway through eating it. The staff are nice, but the pastries I had were slapdash and did not have any sense of proportion or purpose.

Disappointed with the cinnamon roll. No waiting on a rainy day during the week. No cash, payment only by card.

Everything looks so beautiful!!! We needed to queue for 45 minutes, they offer savory food not only sweet and oat milk with the coffee.

Dining is outside on some benches or chairs. The bakery sits in an unassuming alleyway. The pastries looked and tasted great.

Stood in line for their famous Beignet of the day, which turned out to be a jam and vanilla flavored beignet. Took me about 20 minutes around 13:30 pm to get through the line and order. The beignet was good, but I think social media overhyped it. Was actually more excited for the coffee flavored beignet, but their flavor change everyday, so you have to keep looking on their socials or their account being tagged if you want to know what beignet they are selling. Also, we had the almond and coconut bun, that was even better than the Beignet!

Tried the maple raspberry beignet and it was delicious. I got there near the end so there wasn't much of a selection left

Sadly I think this is an insta spot / luck of the day! I LOVE pastries and queued for half an hour just to find out they only have ~4 pastries a day to choose from. Great if you get a good day but we sadly didn’t, pastries were okay but I wouldn’t go back. Sad to be disappointed :(
