Forest Fence in Pendle

This is the second time I have left disappointed! Food was bland, everybody commented about the pizzas having very little cheese and toppings on them. We ordered some drinks after our meal which took 45 minutes to come! There were two other small tables in and nobody at the bar so the hold up was unnecessary. We complained to the staff but they weren’t bothered at all and was merely apologetic. The restaurant had an awful sewage smell as well just to top it off. Will not be returning.

I came me and my wife for the burger night that we had seen advertised on Facebook. Shame to say the least. While the salt and pepper both wings and tots were fantastic it was let down by the Mac and cheese and also the waffle (burnt). However I want to turn my review to the staff. We were chatting to a curly haired brunette while paying who was lovely and chatty and asking about our meal. There was a shorter girl on bar however who seemed from what we saw as bossy and rude to other staff. Little to judge off. Overall was good.

We stayed for a wedding on 29 to 31 April. We had a family room and it was big enough for 2 adults and 2 children, very comfortable and well maintained. The staff went above and beyond to make are stay enjoyable ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you to the manager Shaun and his staff for making our stay memorable. 100% would recommend and will be returning. 🥰

Went for dinner at the forest tonight and it was the best meal we even had there from the service being 10/10 making sure we always got a drink (which the espresso Martini was amazing). The food was amazing, excited to go back in summer and enjoy the outside will be back soon !!!

We visited for our daughter’s 21st birthday as was staying locally. A table of 10 which we pre-ordered the food. The service for the booking was excellent & on arrival we had a drink at the bar 1st. It was St Patrick’s day & the Guinness was very good! The Sunday roast was very nice, everything just perfect! Even a glass of champagne for the birthday girl. Service absolutely 1st class.

I used to frequent the Forest regular, however recently it had gone downhill. However I was convinced to give it another try. First thing I'll say was it was busy. Mothers day. However the staff on duty were were both busy but attentive. The service was top notch. Bar staff perfect. The food too around around about 20m for the starters - a selection of breads and oils (highly recommended) The food arrived 25m later and was worth it. I opted for the gammon, char grilled and couple of eggs and chips. Zero complaints. Overall forest seems back to its best. Defiantly back to its best. Overall 10/10

Had a wonderful night away at the forest… Shaun and all the staff looked after us and were really kind… the evening staff were all really friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding… thanks again we will definitely be returning

Just been for a Mother’s Day treat and what a treat it was. Beautiful pub a shame it was horrible weather as the garden area looked lovely and included a kids area. 3 of us all had different and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I had tora pie (or something like that) it was delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly . I love a nice glass of red and that was beautiful Would we return, absolutely. I even got a card . We went for our 17th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, lovely atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff.

Just returned from a family Sunday tea, What a disappointment! Food was literally inedible! Ribs starter, £10.95 4 tiny ribs , no BBQ sauce. Meat ball starter burnt! Sunday Roast Cold, Lamb on Shish main inedible ! No pancakes for kids dessert! No Pino Rose! And ordered fruit lager and got fruit cider! Would have complained at time but was out for family tea and wanted a nice night !! £125 for the pleasure!!! On a positive the waiting on staff were very helpful and polite.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly ! I went for the first time with my dog and found the experience excellent as it was the 1st time I have eaten out with my beagle and would definitely return ! Thank you

Where do I start? The staff were incredible! Young man called cam made a pornstar martini. He reminds me of my grandson😍 I’d gladly visit again just for a friendly chat with the staff. Food was lovely. Great night out, the atmosphere in a little caged of area near the front door was perfect for me. Highly recommend🫨

I've had mixed experiences over the years at The Forest, and this time was 9/10. We visited on Christmas Day. Ticket prices were expensive at £95 per head, but as expected for increased prices across the board & staff on extra pay - no problem with that at all. Food service was slow, but when it came, the food was faultless. Also, it's Christmas and they were very busy. They even made it up to us with a round of drinks on the house without us mentioning anything in recognising the slow service - can't fault that. Staff were lovely and in good spirits. We'll happily return for a future visit. Keep it up, Forest team. =)

Our pre order was mixed up meaning I had to accept something I didn’t order & didn’t get my dessert. Leeks we’re gritty and they didn’t feel like theyve been washed. Service was slow too so all in all, a disappointing 2.5 hours

This was our office Christmas Dinner, although you wouldn't know it was Christmas because there we not any decorations up. The food was just OK, it was a party of 25 so you don't expect fine dining (and we certainly didn't get it) there were also a few slip ups with the pre-order for which the staff would not take any responsibility. The biggest let down of the evening was the appauling attitude of the staff, hospitality - I don't thing so, it was clear they were not happy being there and were just going through the motions. From start to finish it took two and half hours to serve 3 courses, after which the staff were putting their coats on. It was 22:30 and they just wanted us out of the building and made that quite clear with their attitude. Anyway we won't be troubling them again next year.

We visited as a birthday celebration, since it is a place local to us that we had always wanted to visit. The interior is quite inviting however the meals were a great disappointment. My wife had the 10oz gammon and approx 4oz of it was just fat. Other guests had the beetroot gnocchi , which was cold, whilst the cauliflower cheese was hard and lacking in taste. A child had the vegetable sticks, which were inedible as they were dry and floppy, having been lying around in the kitchen. I had the roast beef , which was very nice but very limited, consisting of 3 very small roast potatoes, 3 strips of roasted carrot, 3 small pieces of beef and a small amount of cabbage with a very large yorkshire pudding. Very overpriced and leaving me still hungry afterwards. We will probably not be visiting again.

Following a disappointing visit one of the managers contacted us and invited us back to give them a second chance. He apologised and said it was not their usual standard when we came. What a difference! All five of us had superb food. My wife had fillet steak and said it was one of the best she had ever had. Our friends had rump, cooked slightly differently and all enjoyed it. I had a delicious pizza. Desserts and drinks were spot on too. The service couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive, and we all had and excellent night. Would I go back again? Definitely!

Came here for my birthday with my family, booked in advance. I was called 2 days before to ask me to collect pre orders to which I explained I was on holiday and couldn’t since it was so last minute. On the night we waited over an hour and 20 minutes for our starters. Then when the meal came, one of the waitresses accidentally split a pot of hot sauce one of us. I understand that accidents happen but it was dealt with really poorly. It was laughed off and made a joke of despite it being on expensive trainers. No offer for how it could be fixed or anything. Another meal was so burnt that it was inedible but this was sorted by it being replaced. Over all not a great experience

Booked last minute on Saturday 18/11/23 Was very busy (which was lovely to see) Due to booking last minute and our early arrival we had a very short wait for table. Lovely waitress advised us of wait and apologised-was nice to be kept informed of this-excellent service! Clean table and seats next to fire-menu extensive, clean and professional looking. Meals we ordered were lovely: chorizo scotch egg was massive and tasty and the porchetta outstanding (veg could have been hotter but everything else amazing) The chocolate cheesecake was delicious also and just the correct portion size. We love cheese and biscuits and maybe this could be introduced as a ‘special’. All round great experience. Well done!

Wow what can I say - after a very entertaining greeting ! everything was perfect. The atmosphere, rooms, food and staff were amazing. A special mention has to go to my morning friend Julie. Julie knew I would be waiting at the bar door at 7 to log in and start work. She always made sure my cuppa was ready with the most delicious of shortbread. Julie exceeds expectations nothing is too much trouble, she certainly is like a workaholic. I cannot fault this place, if I had to find one thing as nothing is ever 100% perfect, I would say perhaps a little revision of the greeting would be good. You will love it here- we will be back. Great pat on the back to all.

The menu looked good and we all six chose different things. None of us rated our food very highly. My wife had Moroccan lamb at £24, but the spices were simply dry for you to add as seasoning, rather than being cooked with the meat. The rice was too dry to eat. I had Calzone Parma, which consisted of mozzarella inside a pizza with a slice of ham on the top, a heap of rocket and tomato sauce in a container. My wife asked for a glass of wine which never turned up. We were asked if the meal was OK by the waitress and my wife said hers wasn't but that is the last we heard of it. We weren't even asked if anyone would like a dessert or coffee. For a midweek day when it wasn't busy, this was very poor. Will we be going back? Not anytime soon!

Visited The Forest tonight with my Husband and Daughter for our Wedding Anniversary The menu stated fish of the day it turned out to be the turbot which i ordered it was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious my Husband had the new Greek lamb dish best meal he's had at the forest really won him over and the chef accommodated my daughter by especially preparing a GF carbonara from the specials board the atmosphere was lovely had a great night

Had a night away and decided last minute to stay here. What can I say, other than thank you. We were greeted by a very pleasant chap who saw us to our room (number 2). The room it’s self was lovely! Clean fresh bedding. Tea and coffee making facilities and the shower and hand wash smelled lovely! We had a table booked for 8.30pm but asked to be seated earlier which was not a problem. Bar man and waitress were very chatty and attentive. The food was exceptional! My husband chose the burger and I had the fusilli funghi.. very generous portions! And the puddings were amazing! Breakfast did not disappoint either! Love the open kitchen too! Jayne was very chatty and friendly. Lovely stay, thank you! It’s definitely a place we Will recommend and return to!

We decided to stop off here on route home from Centerparcs after visiting another pub in their chain on route the (The Fenwick). Lovely friendly welcome by Jayne (sorry if spelt it wrong). Room ready on check in which was nice as slightly early. Dropped off our bags then went for lunch. I had the pizza diavolo and my wife the ragu. Both superb. Fresh and plenty of flavour. My base on pizza slightly burnt in middle but OK. Room 8 was nice, clean and quiet......initially....... but then the music started blasting out from downstairs at 5pm onwards until nearly midnight! We were so tired after a long drive and just wanted an early night. We even asked for a quiet room. I understand it was a Friday night but we hardly slept at all. So sad as lovely place, amazing staff, nice location and superb food! The breakfast was awesome too! Not sure if would return due to poor sleep which is a shame.

I went to the forest for a meal with my partner and i found the service fantastic from Hope and the manager in a shirt with glasses. my partner had a fantastic burger and i thought the fish was excellent. HOWEVER, I would have loved to see mushy peas with my fish. but overall i had an absolutely fantastic trip and i will be returning soon 👍🏻

One of the most beautiful beer gardens I have been to in a long time, with lovely staff serving us as we had a few drinks before a meal. The special monkfish was amazing!!! My partner had the fish and chips and loved that too! I can't wait to come back soon

Just awful! Having had 2 previously awful experiences we thought we'd give this a last chance and only because yhe sun was shining and the beer garden is the perfect venue! Having joked that we'd just get pizza's and beers as what could possibly go wrong... how wrong we were. Firstly we ordered 4 kids pizza's (charged just over £60) which arrived literally black on the bottom! We then ordered some more for us adults (one was complimentary due to the others being burnt) . Not all of our order turned up. Staff were miserable. Tables were not cleared of old plates or glasses when they eventually brought the rest of the order the girl serving didn't have anywhere to put them due to empties and still didn't think to take them away until asked by us ... it's basic training surely! Family pn the table next to us had also had issues with their food so the dad was then eating by himself having got a replacement meal. On leaving there were 4 people waiting at the bar for refunds. Just awful such a shame as it is a great venue but needs serious work in both the kitchen and staff attitudes.

Great place for a drink and catch up (if not a bit pricy). We drink here quite often but don’t usually eat so decided to have a meal this time. The venue is getting worse by the week, staff don’t seem to care. Food is terrible and you often see customers complaining or just refusing to pay and walking out. The prices are way to high. As a local it’s sad to see it get to this stage. Locals are voting with their feet. The owners need to get a grip before it’s too late. I’ve even heard the staff have been told to post good reviews to counter act the many bad ones!!! The place could be a great venue it’s a great play area for kids, but the staff need training in all aspects of the hospitality industry. The kitchen needs to be completely rethought food is a very poor standard and the prices are way to high. GET A GRIP and sort it out 😡

We popped in for a drink and I have to say what a lovely venue and the location is beautiful. There was a lovely atmosphere with live music and the staff were all very friendly. The menu looks fab so we'll definitely head back for a meal some time.

Me and my mum came here on a Sunday afternoon for a Roast dinner, and can say we were blown away by both the food and the service. We were met at the door by James who promptly showed us to our table and talked us through the menu. We noticed that one of our favourite cocktails wasn't listed on the menu and James said it was no problem and could make them for us, this was an extra added touch which made the day even more special. The food was glorious, my mum had Pork & Harrissa skewers, and I had the chorizo scotch egg which may have given the original scotch egg a run for its money. Followed by two roast beef roasts which were super tasty, we asked for more gravy and this wasn't a problem. The servers throughout the meal were attentive and friendly, we really couldn't fault them. We left with fully tummies and smiles on our faces. We will definitely be back. 10/10

We ordered pizza with the offer 2 for 1. Couldn't fault the staff but the pizza wasn't the best. Very soggy in the middle and way to mozzarella on and not enough cheese. The pizza wasn't cooked in a hot enough oven from my experience. It's become a little bit of a hit and miss place for food. On top of that they charge a 10% service charge.
