Food Creations at Bathgate Golf Club in West Lothian

I've eaten here a fair few times and the food has also been consistently good, and the service ok. However, 4 of us went for dinner Sat 31/08, and the food was ok (some main dishes are a bot overpriced for what you get), BUT the service was shocking. We arrived at 7.30pm for our 7.30pm reservation. Waited a good 15 mins 7 had to keep waving to order drinks. Took them a wee while to take food orders too. I was the only one who had a started (big mistake). We basically then waited until 8.50pm when our mains were served. We very nearly stood up & walked out. Then we had to chase the bill - the staff who were on knew we were unhappy, and deducted the price of 2 drinks from our bill, but there was no communication when we paid the bill, no 'I'm sorry, we're short staffed' or anything like that. My 3 friends had never been here before & are very unlikely to return having got such a poor initial impression. As for me, I probably will return, but if the service hasn't vastly improved, that'll be the final time.

This was the first time I had been here and I certainly won't be back, service was absolutely shocking and it wasn't even that busy, we were seated for an hour and 10 mins and we were still waiting on our main course, food certainly wasn't worth the wait either!

Terrible service 1 and a half hours after placing order I got my tasteless macaroni and cold chips. Obviously a problem with either overbooking or staff shortages in the kitchen

Booked a table restaurant was less than half full got seated with menus 15 minutes later no server had even asked if we wanted drinks far less food we got up to leave 3 servers Just let us walk out never asked if there was a problem

Had an afternoon tea recently supplied by this company at an event .Wow ! What a great spread ! Sandwiches ,cakes ,macarons, cream cakes and sausage rolls.All of it was delish 😋 ,couldn't fault it .Would recommend if you're looking for catering .

Came here for an anniversary dinner and certainly was not disappointed. I had the steak which was cooked exactly to my preference and my wife had the chicken schnitzel which looked like it could feed two people. Reasonably priced with good attentive service, what’s not to like. I will return here again.

It is begining to become a bit of a habit that whenever one of our daughters has a Birthday that we go to the restaurant at Bathgate Golf Club to have dinner. However the reasons are that the location suits us in relation to where we live and we can always be guaranteed a good meal with excellent service. This last visit was no exception.

I was part of a large party (which judging by the table layout the venue is used to hosting) with the difficulties starting before we took our seats. Our group of approx. 12 was asked to give out orders in advance and were allowed no fish at all and had to create our own set menu as we were not allowed to have 5 different starters, mains or deserts across our party. Upon arrival the service was friendly and prompt enough but this slowed significantly as time went on (dirty plates sat for nearly 15 minutes) and there was no follow up to check for drinks after we initially arrived. £35 for a haggis starter, burger (whilst it might be Wagyu beef was clearly frozen), a sticky toffee pudding and a lager shandy is on the pricy side for a golf club / bowling club type venue which I wouldn’t begrudge if the service was great and the food matched that. I would recommend and I wouldn’t go back.

Really disappointed only one steak on the menu which they didnt have vegan burger has been removed from the menu the meals we were served only one of the family enjoyed it wont be back.

We decided to go out for New Year’s Eve , the first time in years , the night was excellent, the food delicious and the staff were great . Looking forward to next party .

Having been here four weeks ago and had a lovely Sunday roast (beef), decided to have the turkey from the festive menu. What a disappointment, the sprouts were hard, roast potatoes that were small baby potatoes in their skins that were hard inside ( not what I call roast potatoes), undercooked pale pig in blanket, tasteless turkey with tasteless stuffing. To top it all there were children running around playing chase making lots of noise, it felt like a children’s party. Cost with two soft drinks £35.10. A total waste of money, will not be back.

I attended as part of a group for dinner and disco evening. The food was up to the usual excellent standard.

Lunch here was very good. Great choice and everything fresh and tasty. Service friendly and efficient. A nice room with large windows overlooking the golf course. Prices were good for the food we received. Well worth a visit, we will return

Visited on a Sunday afternoon,got to say a bit disappointed with the meal after a few recommendations from family and friends. Service was pretty average,we had to reorder drinks when none came and it does feel like in a too large a room for a restaurant. Biggest gripe would definitely be the pasta dishes,we added chorizo for £3 and got 6 or 7 small cubes of sausage! You could add chicken to the pasta for an extra £6 which would take the price up to £17 for a plate of pasta,in Bathgate,rip off!!

We visited the golf club restaurant with family mid week, the times were a bit earlier than we would normally eat at, we were met by friendly staff and a good selection of food on the menu, I tried haggis Bon Bons for the first time and they were delicious. I’ve never seen anything like their posh steak pie, which was basically a steak with a puff pastry topping. Good food & drink at a reasonable price served in a friendly atmosphere

Fantastic, the service was great, the food was fabulous lovely evening. They have a great menu with plenty of choice.

It had been a few years since we last ate at the Bathgate Golf Club restaurant but we were marking our elder daughter's birthday with a family meal out and as she now lives in Bathgate we decided to go somewhere near to where she lives. Our past experiences at this venue were always favourable but we were a bit unsure how it would be on this visit as we had heard that the catering was now provided by an independent company called 'Food Creations'. In the event we needn't have worried about this as the food was very good, as was the service. For a starter I had mushrooms in a cheese sauce which was followed by a chicken dish I can't remember whay my wife or our elder daughter had to eat but our younger daughter true to form had macaroni cheese. The only slight negative about the restaurant is the somewhat spartan appearance but if you visit in company you hardly notice this.

Visited on a Friday night. Place wasn’t very busy. We had friendly and attentive service. There was a good selection on the menu. I had the haggis bon bons and the chicken kebab, both very nice. I would recommend

Birthday meal with family on saturday 7th waited 15 minutes for drinks.then another 45 minutes for starters to appear. same again for main meals. and they were warm, chips were under cooked not good service or food by any means we went there because its usually good but sadly went down hill.no atmosphere very dark and dull lighting. i must add servers were nice but no apology for service when complained when they were taking plenty money off us.

I was informed by a staff member that it was table service. Gave up waiting and went to the bar. Asked for a menu and waited over half an hour for someone to take my order. In the end, I gave up and went to the ladies before leaving - no toilet paper in any of the cubicles. I decided to let the manager know and found her looking at her phone behind the bar with 4 other staff members. Dreadful service. Can’t comment on the food as I went elsewhere in the end.

Enjoyed another great meal here .Sunday roast dinner and a vegan burger meal .Great food ,tender beef with tasty veggies .Always great value in a relaxed atmosphere .Menu changed regularly with specials available .Would certainly recommend.

First time having dinner here after hearing rave reviews about the food and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing. Special offers on 2-3 courses Monday - Thursday were excellent value. Portions were ample, tasty and cooked perfectly. Would definitely return for the food....

During lockdown we had a few takeaways from food creations. The food was absolutely superb. Fresh and tasty, really recommend the posh steak pie. Food was even piping hot when we travelled the 15 minutes home. Great food at reasonable prices.
