Popped in to buy my favourite balsamic vinegar from their shop and decided to eat in their “wasted kitchen” restaurant, which I understand is a pop up of sustainable non waste restaurant. I understand they have events too! Try the food the menu is small but interesting

I run and organise a walking group for Basset hound owners and in February we started, and ended our monthly walk here at the Chequers inn. There were 20 of us, with our dogs, all made to feel extremely welcome in the pub where we all enjoyed a fantastic roast dinner, and dessert. This isn’t the first time I’ve taken the group here, and it won’t be the last. Everyone in the group commented on how much they enjoyed the food. Very friendly staff, excellent food. Highly recommend.

Oh, what a gem of a cafe! If you’ve ever dreamed of being told "No, we can’t possibly make a coffee, because we might be busy making a cocktail — that’s just TOO much!", then congratulations, this is your Disneyland. Who knew that caffeine and alcohol — the dynamic duo of beverages — were such mortal enemies behind the bar? I arrived with the outrageous expectation that a cafe-bar might be able to multitask. Silly me! Clearly, my request to have a flat white was an affront to the sacred schedule of the overburdened staff. I mean, why offer coffee and cocktails on the menu, if you're only ever meant to choose one... per century? Watching the staff bustle around avoiding eye contact while explaining how incredibly overwhelmed they were made me feel like I was part of an avant-garde theatre performance about disappointment. Bravo! In short, if you're looking for a place that masters the art of selective service and shattered dreams — look no further. Just remember to flip a coin at the door: heads for coffee, tails for cocktails. But never, ever both. Pathetic
