Staff were lovely and friendly but the coffee was very poor quality, in fact it was hard to tell if there was actually any coffee in my latte ... overpriced rubbish

65p for milk?? Otherwise fine, but profiteering... Edit: not fine... It's generally overpriced

ATN: Owner. Please can I commend an absolutely wonderful employee that you have. Yesterday (27/11/23) an elderly lady crashed her car inside the hospital car park. She was incredibly upset and shaken and it didn’t help a very small minority shouting obscenities at her. Once making sure she was ok and leaving her with another passer-by, I wanted to get her something hot and sweet to drink before she drove again. Entering Fonta Nella I was overwhelmed to see a queue of approx 20 people and no doubt a long wait. With that I saw the most happy and cheerful employee bringing a toastie over to a customer (side note how incredible when other coffee houses with more staff and less queues just shout out to people but there she was giving the 5* service). I quickly explained what happened and in a matter of seconds I had in my hand a hot coffee and shown where the milk and sugars were and asking if there’s anything else she could do to help. I really really hope I remembered her name correctly but I think she was called Monica. What a wonderful human and you must not let her go!! Even as I was leaving she left me with the words of wisdom that one day that will be us and it’s so very true.

Very rude supervisor, had stood in the queue for 5 minutes before she shouted “anyone who hadn’t paid in 1 minute were closed”. I was next and managed to get paid, but others turned away. No please, no thank you, and drink was cold as I walked away!

Friendly helpful staff. Polite friendly and helpful lady serving. Good food. Delicious homemade banana cake. Reasonable prices. Great quick service. Nice atmosphere. I always like to visit when I come to Broomfield Hospital. Thanks for the great service 😊😊😊😊😊

i’m a regular customer and the past few weeks they have changed there payment method to card only the past 2 weekends i have visited the old women has been taking the signs saying card only down and taking cash payments it’s very frustrating because when i visited the first 2 weeks they wouldn’t except my cash payment because “there card only from now on” please tell me the difference from weekend to weekday

Dreadful place. Why would staff turn away 11 people wanting to spend money after queuing for 10 minutes because it hit 1pm (which is a silly time to close on a Saturday when Costa was closed) some companies do not deserve to be successful.

Terrible service, was waiting in the que for 20 minutes. No ice No smoothies, the manager i assume poked her head round to see her short staff struggling and didn’t help at all. Do not recommend this place avoid at all costs!

What a joke of a place. Went there whilst my 4 year old was in theatre. Arrived at 1648 hours to be told that I couldn't have an alternative milk as the server had cleaned all the jugs despite being open for another 12 minutes. I was told "I want to go home on time" Terrible attitude and rude about it. Not what you expect from a shop in a hospital. Surely you need to have a little compassion based on your location. Avoid this place.

Slow to get served and then served by a very grumpy young lady. Snappy and rude. No large cups available either

Dangerous food practice. Shared spoons to add sugar that are then dumped in a cup of water. The water contains milk from other drinks, if someone has a milk allergy this could be fatal.

Shutter down on all sandwiches and cold drinks (‘because we close in 45 minutes’). All food labels mis-matched on the cake counter. No idea what anything was. Despite a small and large tea option, i was told they couldn’t make a small tea because it was the same price. Only 1 chair to sit on as the seating area was closed off (‘because we close in 45 minutes’). I Was told they closed at 5, but they shut the door and started cleaning around me at 16:30. Very unwelcoming, and disorganised.

Tasty Earl Gray Tea, with dairy free alternatives. Cheaper than the coffee just a few steps further away. I like that they have a rewards scheme too ! This place is shocking. 3 pound for a mediocre coffee, served in a cheap cardboard cup with no chocolate sprinkles on top. had just sat down when a rather rude member of staff stated he was closing the seating area and we all had to leave. He then proceeded to stack the tables and chair on top of one another. The seating area is very small And the place was not due to close for hours. Very poor customer service and massively overpriced machine coffee. Save your money and go to Costa located a short distance away.

Terrible espresso. Tasted like filter coffee - no strength, no aroma, bland taste. I’ve had better coffee at builders cafs up and down London. Prices of sandwiches were quite high, but then again it is a hospital. I guess they get away with sub-standard coffee and overpriced food/drink thanks to being placed in a hospital where there is no competition. I can’t really comment on poor customer service but they seemed ok. A bit busy, yes, and I didn’t get a welcoming smile. How long does it take to smile? Final thoughts? One should not raise one’s expectations too high in this place. Shall I visit again? I hope not. Better bring my Thermos.

Great stuff, lovely customer service friday at 4pm girl with tattoos such a sweatheart and very nice , also the boy with arm tattoo has an accent but was very friendly and helped me pick a drink ,best staff ive ever seen in the hospital coffee shop the rest are awfull ..

Incredible service. Poor member of staff was single manning a busy coffee shop but still had the time to be attentive to all customers. Well done.

I only ever go In there as its the only sit down coffee place(not including the pop up Costa). I found the latte very bland and the presentation of the food was not very inviting so we did not purchase any food. I am a baker so i know the importance of presentation, also they do not have drink options for Children. I will go back again as I think this maybe was an off day for the lady who was on her own.

‪@fontabroomfield we ordered two hot chocolates at Broomfield hospital. When ordering we had two different orders due to allergies. One without marshmallows and cream and one with. When we got them the staff member couldn’t remember which one was which. So I asked cause of allergy‬ ‪The staff member took it back and stuck a spoon in and assured us which was which. Unlucky for her she was wrong and I’ve drunk the one which Im allergic too. Lucky it won’t do anything too harmful to me. But someone else it could be worse. ‬

Came in at Only 3 pm on a Sunday and one memberof staff only so wait is over 30 minutes, one battered sandwich in the fridge and a half broken cake and nothing else, they don't have plates or cups everything is served to go. I came in looking for something to eat and went away hungry as their was literally nothing to eat. The whole area was dirty. Absolutely disgusting, this is the only place in the hospital open to eat at and they had nothing. Not very nice for patients or staff.

Absolutely disgusted at the attitude of the lady staff member on Saturday afternoon. No name badge but sounded Spanish. Coffee house supposed to close at 5.00 pm. We were in at 4.10 pm and she was already putting the shutters down on the food racks and muttering under her breath because people still wanted serving. Outside shutters were then closed so nobody else could get in even though people still pushed them aside and entered to which she huffed. It became extremely stuffy in there and many people were complaining about it including myself and I stated that I would be making a complaint to which she said "you can if you want". So rude and clearly not right to work in a customer service position!

If you are unfortunate enough to have to visit Broomfield Hospital then this coffee house is ideal for a pick-me-up. Lovely coffee, we also had toasted Paninni's and sandwiches, all were toasted to perfection. Very pleasant young lady serving us before 9am, how she kept her cool I do not know as she was the only member of staff on duty and was rushed off her feet with a long queue of customers waiting to be served. Can not praise her enough.....the food and coffee is good too!

Regular visitor to Broomfield Hospital unfortunately and I often drop in here for a cappuccino while my wife is having some treatment or other. Nice coffee and they also do some hot snacks like paninis if you are hungry. Ok place...

Another visit to Broomfield which called for a visit to this wonderful coffee shop. Earlier than usual but still that friendly service and, more to the point, good coffee.

Girl with green hair is extremely bad mannered and rude. Waited 20 mins for a sandwich that never came and when queried, she argued I ordered something else as their system isn't wrong! All but called a liar. The young kid putting away the glasses had his hands inside the cups as well. Unbelievable.

Staff here need some training in customer service and the baristas are slow as anything. The drinks you get after your wait aren't anything special. It's a shambles.

After a hospital visit there is nothing better than a cup of coffee, especially good coffee. Fontanella Coffee House at Broomfield hospital ticks all the right boxes. Fantastic, tasty, coffee and nice appetising sandwiches and baguettes, Pastries galore and cakes. Staff are an added bonus. Always cheerful with a friendly smile and, if needed, cheeky banter. Love the place and made an worrying appointment a little easier afterwards.

A proper Costa Coffee would be better instead of Fontanella. I don't understand why Fontanella run a pretend Costa stall. So frustrating to see the Costa logo and not be able to use my Costa Coffee club card.

Hate to write this review as I've always been happy in the past. Ordered 2 flat white coffees, one of which should be decaff and whilst I waited for the young girl to serve others, I noticed she had a coffee with no cream on the side, she went on to say that the one she was doing was the normal one, before picking up the coffee on the side, adding milk saying that's decaff. We tried both of them and they were both completely different, with the so called decaff being bloody awful! returned it to the girl saying discretely but audibly that it was awful and she simply glared at me and went on to serve somebody else. No apology, no offer of a replacement, nothing! I certainly wouldn't waste another penny here. She needs a lesson in concentration and customer satisfaction!

Rude staff commenting about customers in front of other customers. Place half closed with chairs on table hours before closing time. Takeaway cups available only. Iced latte was rubbish he didn't even bother stirring it. Server also ranted outside about no staff! Avoid at all costs.

Hopeless service ,really hopeless

Most awful service ever. Waited 20 mins just for a Mocca coffee. Manager short and rude. Would not use china cups for beverages inside cafe. No sleeves for paper cups. £3.10 for a really shoddy coffee. No stars deserved at all but could not post this review until I gave it one star.

After deciding to treat my son before his appointment.i thought I'd buy him a hot chocolate,the cost was £2.60 but I thought for that price it's got to be good,wrong a simple hot chocolate no cream on top should of gone to costa

Chairs are upturned onto tables in half of the facility at around 4pm (the facility is due to close at 6.30 pm) limiting accommodation and giving an impression of “unwelcome” very early - when asked the reason was given, “we always do that”.

The only time the service improves is when Costa Coffee staff help them behind the counter.

Yet again plastic takeaway cups when tea pits and cup exist. Appalling service.
